AN: Hey there! It's been a long time, but here I present you a new chapter! (After a month)

This story is a little differen. It's gonna be divided in more than one chapter, because it turned out to be pretty long. I'm not finished writing it yet, but it's gonna be at least 3 chapters (that I intend to upload at least two times a week). I felt this fic needed a little action, and this was something I had started writing in March (probably), but I didn't give it a go until now.

There is going to be a little violence, and anger, and sad things, but I promise it's going to have a happy ending.

Anyway, I would like to thank Fran Fig for helping me sort this out and for giving me so much support. You are the sweetest, Fran!

I hope you all enjoy this one. I had a great time writing it down.

Tough Lady (Part 1) –

That morning, when Auggie woke up, he turned around to wrap his arms around Annie, as he usually did, but he didn't find her lying beside him. He felt for his watch and found out it was still 6am.

He got up and started walking around, trying to find any sign of Annie in the house. When he got to the kitchen he didn't hear a sound, but he could smell fresh coffee. He stood by the door, but didn't say anything.

Annie just observed him. She was wearing one of his shirts, and holding a cup of the coffee she had just prepared for herself. She loved to watch him, but she knew he didn't always feel comfortable knowing she was observing every move he did.

"Over here." She said from the other side of the counter.

"Why you up so early?" He said as he placed a kiss on her forehead and took a sip from her cup.

"Couldn't sleep." She answered taking his hand in hers.

"Any reason in particular?" He got a cup to pour himself some of that nice smelling coffee.

"That mission from yesterday. It just felt too easy, you know? I think I'm being played."

"Annie. It's Sunday morning. 6am. And we're home. Why don't you try and think of anything else?"

"Says the guy who spent half of our vacation time in California trying to hack into that Norwegian company." She said calmly, but Auggie knew it was a dangerous subject to start arguing about.

"Ok. What is wrong with the mission?" He leaned on the counter, realizing his weekend was about to end soon.

"You know that new operative? Matthews?"

"The girl that just left the farm a few weeks ago and got assigned to your department?"

"Yes. She is very smart, but I didn't think for a second she would be able to track down that guy; not yet. I only told her to follow his lead because I thought she'd have a lot to learn from that. I think it's a set up. We got the wrong guy."

"Maybe she is another you." He kissed her and felt her grinning.

"I'm flattered, but you know how naïve I used to be." She patted his hand, remembering how much she had learned from him. "Also, if you remember it right, I got the wrong guy on my first assignment too."

"But you realized it yourself later. You've always had good instincts."

"That's why I know something is off."

"Wanna go to Langley?" He bit his lower lip and sighed in defeat. Now he was 100% sure his weekend was officially over.

"I'm just gonna wait til Zarya comes back."

"Where would a sixteen year old girl be on a Sunday morning, 6am?" He raised his eyebrows.

"Exercising. You know she likes to go out for a little run every morning."

"On a Sunday?! She really is your kid." He kissed the tip of her nose.

Zarya got home nearly an hour later; Annie was ready for work, and Auggie was putting on his tie.

"Wow." She looked them up and down. "You're going back to work again? Jesus!" She asked as she poured herself some water.

"I tried to talk your mom out of it, but you know her. Once she puts something on her mind…"

"Zarya, honey, it's gonna be fast. I promise. I'm just going to check if everything is alright."

"It's ok." She shrugged and headed to her bedroom. "Oh! I got our mail. It's on the coffee table."

Annie went through their mail to find some bills, some flyers, and finally a thick white envelope. No sender.

She opened it and was caught by surprise. Her heart rate increased and her breathing became faster. All kinds of thoughts racing through her mind. As Auggie got near her, he noticed something was wrong.

"Annie?" He had to call her three times and touch her arm gently before she noticed him there.

"Hey."

"You ok?" He took her hand.

"Auggie, change of plans. I'm taking you and Zarya to our safe house." She put the envelope on her purse and started to lock all of the windows and doors she could find. Auggie thought she sounded a little too desperate. "Zarya, honey! Come here, would you?" She shouted as she shut the blinds.

"Annie! What's wrong?" Auggie stopped her, holding her arm not that gently.

"I was right. I knew it! We just got dozens of pictures of Zarya. At school, at the supermarket… She's being watched, Auggie. Closely."

"What?" Zarya's eyes popped. "Mom? What's going on?"

"Sweetie? Remember that 'ready-to-go' bag mom gave you? I think we're gonna need it. Can you get it for us?"

"Mom! What's going on?!" She exclaimed, starting to lose her temper. She was getting scared. She had never seen her mother that worried.

"We'll tell you on the way out, baby. We need to go now." Annie kissed her daughter's forehead. "Augs, I'll get our bags."

Annie rushed to their room and took the suitcases from under their bed. She knew those would come in handy. She ran back to the living room, took her purse, her car keys, and met Zarya and Auggie in the garage.

"Get in the car. Now." She opened the gate and turned on the engines.

"Mom! You'll get us killed driving that way! What the hell is going on?!" Zarya screamed as she put on her seatbelt.

"Sweetie, I am so sorry. I made a mistake and I put you in danger, but I need to take care of that now, ok? You will stay with your dad at our safe house while I fix everything I've messed up." Annie said as she violently took a turn at a corner.

"Is it, like, CIA mission right now?" Zarya didn't want to seem excited, she knew her mom was worried – she was too –, but she had always wondered what it felt like to be in the action.

"Yes. And I'll take care of everything, don't worry." She could see her mother was even more scared than she was.

"Why are you driving like this?" Zarya asked when she had to hold on to her seat for the fifth time.

"Because you were being watched. I don't want anyone following us to our safe house. That's why it's called a safe house."

"Oh! No phones allowed in the safe house, Z. You'll have to turn yours off now until we are able to get out of there." Auggie added.

Zarya just nodded, trying to take in everything that had happened in those last thirteen minutes. She was excited, but she was still scared. She had never seen her mother so worried or desperate before. Something really wrong was going on.

Her mother parked in front of an old building, and Zarya just stopped for a moment and thought about how crazy it all was. She used to walk past that building every day on her way to school. So much in her life that seemed pointless before was now beginning to form a full picture in her mind. Even though it was all blurred, she was finally starting to understand her parents were really spies.

To be continued.

So! That was part 1! Do you like it for now? Let me know what you think! ;)
