Chapter 10

It had been a few hours since Rachel started feeling labor pains, and from Quinn's calculations she was to give birth.

"Whoa shouldn't we like wait till she's dilated or something?" Katy asks panicked.

"We don't have time for that. Enough time has already passed. We need to do this now." Quinn says. Quinn asked Katy to assist her during while Santana, Will, and Brittany scouted outside. With Rachel giving birth now, they were very vulnerable. They couldn't afford any surprise attacks. Not now. "Now just stay calm and do exactly what I tell you to okay." Quinn says to both Katy and Rachel. She was holding Rachel's hand as she cried in pain. Dumbfounded and panicked, Katy nods.

"Wait, how do you know all this?" Katy asks. Quinn ignores her and turns to Rachel. Rachel continues to scream and cry in pain and agony.

Suddenly there was a loud horn blown.

"Shit" Quinn hisses. "He's coming."

"What? Who's coming Quinn?" Katy asks. "What the fuck was that?"

"We have to hurry." Quinn says.

"Hurry? Quinn this isn't exactly something we can hurry!" Katy exclaims.

"Rachel, sweetie, I need push okay. Push as hard as you can. Push like you've never pushed before." Quinn instructs. "Push!"

"Quinn, who's coming?" Katy asks again.

"Push!" Quinn says ignoring Katy. Rachel does as she was told and pushed as hard as she could with a scream.

The horn sounded again. Then there was total silence. Suddenly there was the flash of light, not quite lighting, but it had the same affect to scare.

On the roof, Santana, Brittany and Will looked out scared and confused.

"How many bullets you go left?" Santana asks the two.

"Come on Rachel keep pushing!" Quinn instructs. Rachel pushes again with everything she had.

"I see the head!" Katy exclaims.

Rachel pushes again before the baby was finally out.

"You did it." Quinn whispers, placing a soft kiss on Rachel's sweaty forehead. She can't believe her eyes looking at the baby in front of her. She feels unshed tears fill her eyes looking at this little person. "You did it."

"Rachel you did it!" Katy cheers. She wraps the baby up in a towel she found in the kitchen. Kay takes the baby and hands him to his mother. "Rachel, look it's your baby. He's okay." Katy says holding the baby out for Rachel to take.

Rachel knows she should take her baby. She knows that she should be happy that he was finally here, but she couldn't. She couldn't even look at him. She couldn't reel herself to do anything but look away. She wasn't ready. Not yet.

"It's okay. Give her some time." Quinn says. She gently pushes him away, holding Rachel as she weeps in her arms.

Katy looks at Quinn and Rachel before getting up and leaving with the baby. She goes to the sink, wets a cloth to wash the fluid and blood off the baby.

"Katy" she hears. She turns her head to find her father looking at her.

"Daddy" she says. She walks over to her father with the baby.

"Whatcha got there kiddo?" Russell asks. He asks in a voice she remembers him using on her when she was younger. When he wasn't comparing her to her long lost sister and pointing out her screw ups.

"I-It's Rachel's baby. See look." Katy says holding up the baby for Russell to see.

"He's beautiful." Russell says with a smile. "You used to look like that when you were younger." he says. Katy looks up at him shocked. "Katy, honey I am so sorry for what I said to you. I didn't mean it." Russell says.

"I…I know dad." Katy says.

"It's just you and me now kiddo." Russell says

"B…but what about Quinn?" Katy asks.

"Just you and me." Russell says ignore the question. He had this certain look in his eyes that Katy didn't catch. Katy just smiles at her father. What she didn't know was Russell was buying time as he tries to undo the ropes around his hands behind him.

"Is it over? Are we safe now?" Rachel asks in a strained voice.

Quinn had just finish helping Rachel get cleaned up and Rachel had yet to say anything. Until now.

"No" Quinn answers. "Now, the kid will have a chance to grow up. A chance to lead all of us out of the darkness."

"What happens until then?" Rachel asks.

"You have to show him how."

"What makes you think I can do that? What if I mess up or…" Rachel trails off.

"Because it's in your heart Rachel. Because I know you can. I know that you will guide this baby with everything in you and you will not let anything happen to him. This may be all on him, but this…this is your journey." Quinn exclaims.

Rachel stays quiet. She turns to look at Quinn.

"Will you be there to help me?" Rachel asks with a scared tearful voice.

Quinn sighs shaking her head. "I don't know. It's your journey Rachel's and yours alone." Quinn says. Rachel lowers her head. "But…I'll try…For you." Quinn says.

Rachel goes to Quinn and wraps her arms around her in a hug in which Quinn returns. Although Quinn knows that it's slim to none of her being with Rachel when this all ends, she just wants to hold on to this moment.

As they hug, the sounds of the baby's cries ran out through the night sky. The possessed shuttered in pain and agony at the cries of the new born.

The horn sounded once more.

"Shit" Quinn pulls from the hug. Rachel looks at her confused. "We have to go." Quinn says walking out of the room with Rachel behind her.

"What? What's going on, Quinn?" Rachel asks.

Quinn starts to rapidly grab and pack the guns.

"We have to go. The possessed can't come near the baby, so He sent someone who can. Some like Michael." Quinn says

"Someone like Michael?" Brittany asks confused.

"Gabriel." Quinn answers. "He's coming here to do something Michael wouldn't."

"Wait" Santana walks up. "That's what this is all about? That…That's order that Michael wouldn't do that got us into this mess." A pause. "Michael was suppose to kill the baby, wasn't he?" Santana asks.

Quinn stops for a moment then turns to face the other.

"Quinn…what is she talking about?" Rachel asks coming around the corner.

"We need to go." Quinn says instead.

"Quinn tell me what's going on?" Rachel says

"Gather up whatever weapons you can. We have to leave. Now!" Quinn commands.

"NO!" Rachel yells. "We are not going anywhere until you tell us what the hell is going on?" Rachel demands. Quinn sighs. "Were…were you here just…just to kill my baby?" Rachel asks tears filling her eyes. She feels as if Quinn had betrayed her.

"No, Rachel. Of course not." Quinn says. She tries to take a step towards Rachel, but the young mother backs away. Not wanting to feel Quinn touch her. Quinn hung her head.

"The baby…the baby wasn't suppose to be born." Quinn says. There were gasps heard in the diner, including Santana. "But it-it doesn't matter, because he is. The future is unwritten now. You can still have a chance." Quinn exclaims. She steps closer to Rachel. "There's still hope." She goes to reach out again to Rachel, but Rachel once again backs away.

She turns to Katy.

"Katy, give me the baby." Rachel says. As Katy was about to pass the baby to Rachel, Russell jumps out of his chair and grabs him.

"Daddy!" Katy shouts. Quinn drew her gun out pointing to him.

"What are you doing?" Will asks.

"Katy sweetie let's go." Russell says in a calm voice. "You heard her. They just want the baby. I'm gonna give them the baby and then they'll let us go." Russell says.

"Dad no." Katy says.

"You give me my baby right now!" Rachel seethes.

"Why? You didn't even want him!" Russell accuses.

"That's not true!" Rachel shouts.

The horn sounded again and the flash of light followed, coming closer to the diner.

"Daddy please don't do this." Katy pleaded.

Russell looks at his daughter. He looks at the other people in the diner. He trained his eyes on Quinn.

"You wont do it. You won't shoot your own father!" Russell exclaims. Quinn just stares at him with an emotionless expression still having with the gun pointed clearly at him. "What's wrong with you people? It's just one baby!"

As Russell backs up to the door, the light from outside surrounded the door.

Suddenly the door burst open, starling everyone. Quinn takes the shot, and shooting Russell clean in the middle of his head. As the baby fell from his dead hands, Brittany dove to catch him just in time. Quinn shoots Russell again, blowing him out of the door.

Just then a tall man wearing black armor with wings walks into the diner. Brittany looks up from the baby to the man looking stunned. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Flying man." she mutters. Just like in her dreams.

The angel looks down at Brittany before swinging his weapon down at her and the baby. With quick thinking Brittany rolled out of the way just in time.

"Brittany!" Santana yells. She goes over to help Brittany and the baby up.

Will comes around and starts shooting at the Angel, but he blocks the bullets with his wings. He spins his wings around, cutting Will in the abdomen with the tip of his wings injuring him severely.

"Will!" Rachel yells.

The angel balls his fist up and back hand punches Will, sending him flying behind the counter/kitchen.

"NO! WILL!" Rachel tries to go to him, but Quinn blocks her.

"No, you have to go. You have to get the baby out of here." Quinn says. She passes the keys to the car to Santana. Santana looks at her friend for what could be the last time before slightly nodding her head, understanding what she had to do.

"Wait what about you?" Rachel asks

"I have to stay here. Hold him off for as long as I can." Quinn says.

"Hold him off?" Rachel questions. Her eyes widens when she realizes. "No…no Quinn you-you can't…"

"I have too…"

"NO! You can't leave me. I can't…can't lose you too." Rachel cries.

"I'm sorry Rachel. It has to be done. Just go and be safe." Quinn says. "I'll always be with you."

Rachel stand there for a moment before reaching forward and pulling Quinn in for a passionate kiss. Telling Quinn everything she couldn't say with words in that kiss.

"Come back to me." Rachel says against Quinn's lips.

Instead of replying, Quinn places another soft yet quick kiss on Rachel's lips.

"Go." she says pushing Rachel towards the door. Rachel takes one last look at Quinn before catching up with the others.
