ASHLEY POV
I took of my shirt and pants then changed into my 'supposed-to-be' uniform; trying to feel what the uniform was like I tried hard to imagine how it looked like as if I could see. Darn, why is it so hard to change when I can't see? And why is this skirt thing so short?!Is this even a skirt? Seto-sama!! I'm going to kill you!! PERVERT!
I took one of my black cycling shorts from my backpack and put them underneath my so-called skirt, then lazily tossing my pack to the floor before sitting on the bed feeling as though the whole world is against me.
First those baka obelisks bully me then they make me almost blind, and now the skirt in this school is too short! How the heck am I supposed to walk in this let alone duel! I groaned.
Mo—I don't feel like going to the opening ceremony with this on! I sighed in defeat and let myself fall on the bed.
Just then she heard a knock at the door that made her sit up on the bed once again.
Normal POV
"Who's there?" Ashley asked as the door opened and a raven haired boy came in.
"It's Bastion."
"Misawa-san… So how do I look?"
"Do I REALLY have to answer that?" Bastion replied as he anime sweat drops
"Umm—how else would I know if I look ok?"
"So should we head to the opening ceremony?"
"Oh, can you do me a favor? I was sort of looking for my iPod and well…" Ashley said reluctantly, unknowingly Bastion was already trying to find the iPod
"Is it color black with 'Wake up your heart' playing on it?" Bastion asked and instantly Ashley blushes feeling a bit embarrassed
(A/N: Well, what can I say I was listening to Wake up your heart while writing this. hehehe)
"Y-yeah."
"It's in your pack with your PDA and mobile phone."
"Umm, can I have the PDA and mobile phone too?"
Bastion took the PDA, mobile phone and iPod to Ashley. Ashley puts her mobile phone on the bedside table and put her PDA in her pocket and her iPod in the other pocket.
"So, ready to go?"
Ashley stood then nodded after Bastion takes her hand and leads her to the door.
They had arrived in opening ceremony when suddenly a brunet grabbed Ashley from behind causing Bastion and Ashley to let go of each other's hands.
"Hey ya, Ash!" Shouted the brunet with a big grin as he hugged the girl
A blue haired Silfer boy approach the group
"JADEN!!" Bastion shouted accusingly
"Umm—who's Ash?" Ashley muttered
"You are! It's a nickname, kind of like 'Sy' for Syrus and 'Jay' for Jaden."
Isn't he being TOO familiar with her? Bastion thought as he crossed his arms.
"Oh—I see. Can I? I mean call you guys that?"
"Yup! We're friends after all!" Jaden exclaimed
Bastion was tapping his foot and his face looked like it was in all kinds of…Impatient? Or was it possible he was actually pissed?
"I-it's ok with me." Sy manage to mutter at Ashley
Ashley smiled and nodded.
"Opening ceremonies about to start, you know, we can just stand here all day!" Bastion scolded
Bastion grabbed Ashley's hand and walks away with her in tow. Ashley felt Bastion's grip tightened compared to earlier before.
Is something wrong with Misawa-san?
"Misawa-san…"
"You can call me Bastion." He muttered as he loosen his grip on Ashley
"Ok…"
Bastion led Ashley to the mid section of the room. They sat next to each other while Jaden and Syrus were sitting not too far behind them.
Then Principal Sheppard had entered and was talking something regarding their stay in Duel Academy. Ashley took the opportunity to take out her iPod and turn it to 'Ave Maria' one of her favorite classical music. Bastion just sat beside her and stared at her like she was crazy, then put his attention back to Principal Sheppard.
(A/N: Yes, I know Ave Maria is actually from La Corda D'Oro. I just love the violin duet!! hehehe)
After an hour or two the opening ceremony had just finished and Ashley had already dozed off with her head resting on Bastion's shoulder.
Bastion gently took off the headset in Ashley's ears.
"Ashley, wake up. The ceremony's over." Bastion muttered as he shook his friend gently
Jaden and Syrus approached them.
"What's up with Ash?" Syrus asked they couldn't tell if she was asleep or just faking with the bandages that covered her eyes.
"She dozed off."
"Oh, I know what will wake her up!" Jaden exclaimed as he mischievously smiled
"HEY ASH! You have saliva on your cheek." Jaden mused
Ashley shot up and wiped her cheeks.
"Kidding." Jaden said slyly
"That's so MEAN JAY!!" Ashley shouted as she sat on her seat once again
"Very mature, Jaden…" Bastion sarcastically said
"Hey at least it's effective." Jaden answered proudly
"Jay don't we have to unpack?" Syrus interrupted
"Oh yeah! See you two around."
"See you tomorrow, Sy and Jay." Ashley said and with that the two silfer left.
"We have to get going too, Ashley. You need to unpack too."
"Yeah, but aren't you going to unpack too?"
"I'm already done with mine."
"Oh?"
"So I have time to help you…"
"Thank you Bastion… I already owe you so much."
Bastion stood up and held her hand.
"Let's get going, so we won't miss dinner."
Ashley nodded and stood up and followed Bastion back to their dorm.
Ashley and Bastion headed to her room when Bastion noticed a guy with brownish blonde hair who was opening the door across Ashley's room and looked at their direction.
After a few seconds later, the guy with amethyst eyes went in his room, as they went in Ashley's room not too long after.
Bastion took her backpack from the floor and gave it to Ashley. Ashley just scattered her things on her bed and started to sort things.
"So, what are going to do?"
"Well, first things first. I need to sort this pile from clothes to things."
Ashley took all the clothes and stuffs them in the drawer opposite from her bed, but when she walked back to her bed; her foot got caught on the rug and fell on top of Bastion. Bastion blushed, while Ashley was completely unaware of the situation.
Ashley smells pretty good… Wait, what the hell am I thinking…
"Bastion?"
"Yes?"
Ashley blushed as she heard Bastion's voice from under her.
"BASTION! I'm so-so-so sorry!!" Ashley exclaimed as she got off him, as Bastion took a deep breath
"No, it's ok—it was an accident."
Ashley suddenly remembers something important that was in her bag that she ABSOLUTELY cannot loose.
"Hey, Bastion? Have you seen my notebook? It's sort of blue colored…"
Bastion reached for his pocket and took out the cyan notebook he had pick up from earlier and handed it to her.
"I found it on the ground earlier I thought it was yours."
Ashley took the notebook and hugged the raven haired Ra making him blush.
"Thank you so much!"
Ashley lets go of him and puts the notebook in her bedside table. Bastion sat on her bed still a bit flushed from all the excitement.
Suddenly her phone starts to ring. Ashley hesitantly grabs her silver phone.
"Aren't you going to answer that?"
"I'm not really thrilled to talk with anyone right now…" Making Bastion frown
"It might be your family."
"All the more reason not to answer it."
"Come on answer it already."
"…"
"Ashley." Bastion said sternly
"F-fine, but I'm not telling them I'm temporarily blind at the moment."
Ashley answers her phone, as Bastion watched her.
ASHLEY POV
"Hime-chan!! How long were you planning on making me wait?!"
It's Aguilos-nichan.
"Ni-ni! Ah- I don't know, I wasn't planning to answer anyway." As I laughed nervously
"That's how you threat your brother who misses SO much?" I laughed nervously again
Then there were a few minutes of silence, then heard him take a deep breath.
"So… How is Seto-kun's DA?"
"It's ok."
With the exception of the jerky obelisk students it's good.
"Are all settled in then? Did you make friends?"
"Yes. And yes."
"Good. Hime-chan, no boys, alright?" My over-protective brother said with a serious suspicious tone
"NI-NI!!"
"Alright, alright. Sheesh, you can't take a joke, ne, Hime-chan?" he nervously laughed
"Alright I get it. You're bored, ne, Ni-ni?"
"Yeah, I know. I just wanted to hear your voice to keep me sane over here."
"Ni-ni…"
"Alright, I have to go now. I've got work to do. I'll call again soon. And Seto-kun and the other wanted to know 'how was your trip?'And also told me they'll be calling now and again to check up on you."
When Seto-sama calls I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!
"Oh, that's good to hear. My trip was fine. I'll call to you guys soon. Bye bye."
NORMAL POV
Ashley sighed as she hanged up.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?"
Ashley stuck out her tongue at Bastion.
"It's that bad to have a sibling?"
"No, not really. It has its perks, but my brother is just so annoying sometimes."
"I can't really relate. I don't have siblings." Bastion muttered
"Oh? But you'd make a great big brother!" Ashley exclaimed then covers her mouth I shouldn't have said that.
Bastion smiled and started to observe her. She IS so blunt...
"So—shouldn't we be heading to the cafeteria right about now?" As Bastion came back to reality
"Yes, I think we should."
Ashley and Bastion headed to the mess hall on the first floor, hold each other's hands; they walked Bastion ignores the whispers around them, while Ashley being a bit bothered by it was blushing furiously and walked closer to Bastion.
Bastion took two trays and put some bread, spaghetti and bottled juice on each tray.
I should probably pay for these myself… As he looked over Ashley who was still blushing, then reached for his wallet with his free hand
"Ashley, I'm letting go of your hand so I can carry our food, alright?"
Ashley nodded.
"You can hold on to my blazer if you like." Bastion said as he paid for the food
"My, my. Aren't you two a very cute couple." Commented by the cashier lady as she handed Bastion his change
Bastion blushed furiously with the comment, while Ashley looks away and hold on to his blazer with one of her hands.
"Umm—we aren't a couple." Ashley muttered
"Could've fooled me!"
Ashley and Bastion walked and found a table with vacant seats. Bastion sets the trays down and grabbed her hand and swiftly led her to her seat like a perfect gentleman before setting himself beside her.
As they were about to eat the guy who was staying across Ashley's room suddenly barges in and sits beside Ashley and gets a glare from Bastion.
"Mind if I sit here, miss?"
"No, not at all, good sir." Ashley said with a giggle
"My name's Raiki Caelum, you guys can call me Rai."
"Mine's Ashley."
"I'm Bastion Misawa." As Bastion's and Rai's eyes met the atmosphere suddenly seemed heavy and tense.
Ashley could not see what was happening but could feel the tension build up.
"Ano—Bastion, Rai-kun. Let's eat shall we?" Ashley said with the sweetest smile she could manage to break the tension
Bastion and Rai had their attention on Ashley and made them blush all of a sudden.
"Yeah, we should." Rai agreed with Ashley
"Of course." As Bastion coughed in embarrassment
Ashley tries to grab her fork but grabs her spaghetti instead. Ashley anime sweat drops as she felt something wet in her fingertips. Bastion and Rai took their napkins in their reaction and both grab her hand. Ashley blushed and took her hand away from the boys.
"Maybe eating wasn't a good idea. I'll just go to my room now." Ashley said in an embarrassed tone
Ashley stood and walked in a straight line and successfully exits the cafeteria with any accidents.
Bastion and Rai looked at each other with an expression that said 'this is all your fault!' Then took their tray and went their separate ways.
Ashley POV
They're so weird. I mean sure It's good that they both are looking after me. But they didn't have to hold my hand. They could have just said something like 'Ashley, that's your food…' Or something like that. Wait, why am I getting so worked up about this?!
I just walked and walked letting my feet lead me to anywhere but there.
Things are so messed up ever since I got here. I can't believe my luck!
I sighed heavily, but the night breeze blew on my face and made me stop in my tracks. It felt wonderful and cool.
Only one word could describe this feeling…
"Relieving…" was the word that my mouth manage to mutter
"What are you doing here?" I heard a guy say his voice was low and cocky that it reminded me of those obelisk students earlier.
"Just letting my feet lead the path I thread… Beside that point where is HERE exactly?"
"This is the lighthouse, obviously—"
Oh—the IRONY!! I know what he's going to say next…
"Am I blind? Well, as a matter of fact I am."
NORMAL POV
The guy was wearing an obelisk blue uniform and had black spiky hair and his blackish green eyes shined in the moonlight as it widened.
"Then what the hell are you doing in DA?! Blind people can't duel!!"
"Well, do you really want to know that badly?" Ashley said as she looked up to the sky and smiled softly
Darkangelsonic: Cliffhanger!! (Grins) Hahahaha I'm sorry I just couldn't resist; besides this Chapter should have ended after the unpacking part.
Ashley: Angel, you are so evil. (crossed her arms in disappointment)
