Ashley POV
I sighed heavily, but the night breeze blew on my face and made me stop in my tracks. It felt wonderful and cool.
Only one word could describe this feeling…
"Relieving…" was the word that my mouth manage to mutter
"What are you doing here?" I heard a guy say his voice was low and cocky that it reminded me of those obelisk students earlier.
"Just letting my feet lead the path I thread… Beside that point where is HERE exactly?"
"This is the lighthouse, obviously—"
Oh—the IRONY!! I know what he's going to say next…
"Am I blind? Well, as a matter of fact I am."
NORMAL POV
The guy was wearing an obelisk blue uniform and had black spiky hair and his blackish green eyes shined in the moonlight as it widened.
"Then what the hell are you doing in DA?! Blind people can't duel!!"
"Well, do you really want to know that badly?" Ashley said as she looked up to the sky and smiled softly
The boy didn't answered and he seemed to contemplating on whether he'd want to or not know, when he noticed Ashley was now giggling.
"WHAT THE HELL IS SO FUNNY?!" He walked closer to her
"Oh, nothing, I just thought of something very, very cheesy that it made me laugh. Want to hear?"
"No."
"Well, I'll tell you anyway!"
So WHAT THE HELL was the point of ASKING?!
"I travel a lot and have visited lots of places before because of family business, but when I always look up in the sky I feel like I'm always home. 'Cause no matter where we are in the world, we're still under the same sky. "
Ashley felt her eyes starting to water under the bandages.
That's right. We're under the same sky, Aguilos-nichan.
Tears started to fall to her cheeks and the obelisk looked at her and just stared.
Why the heck do I have the urge to suddenly comfort her? More over why am I thinking of embracing her?!
He shakes the idea off and takes a deep breath and sits down not too far from her then focuses his attention on the sky.
"Hey, what's it like? To be blind…"
I haven't given much thought about that… Now that I think about it…
"You know how colors always help you distinguish things?"
"Yeah, so what?"
"When all color disappears there's only one thing that's left."
"…Total darkness." Ashley shivered, the thought scared her and her tears won't stop coming out
The obelisk grabs her wrist and gave her a handkerchief; Ashley wipes her tears with it.
If anyone found out my rep would be done for…
He looked around if anyone was there and sees as it was clear; took off his blazer and put on Ashley then putting on of his arm around her. Ashley rests her head on his chest, as her tears still won't stop falling on her cheeks.
Her little world is so small… Darkness is the only thing that exists in it… I pity her. That's it. There is no other feeling. That's the only reason why…
Then suddenly they hear a growl that made both of them froze. They heard it again, Ashley sat up straight and scratched her head and smiled.
"Oh, I'm sorry. This is so embarrassing… I didn't get to eat dinner." Ashley blushed
"Why was that?" He suspiciously asked
"Well, you see. I was planning to eat dinner with my friends, but…" The spiky haired guy listens as she talked.
"I was going to grab my fork."
"But instead I grabbed something that I assumed was my food!"
He looked at her hand that was stained with dried tomato sauce.
"It was spaghetti, wasn't it?"
Ashley thought about how it felt, and after a few minutes of pondering and her conscience practically debating on whether it was or not.
"I'm not sure but it I think it was."
He suddenly started laughing, and he could not hold his laughter as much as he tried.
"You'd think this is entertaining, huh?" Ashley said
"Well—duh. No one in the right mind would grab food!" He manage saying as he tried to stop laughing
"Hey that's mean!" Ashley pouted
He took a deep breath and looked at Ashley, getting back his composure.
"Hey, don't be like that— it's not like I have any food with me—"
"Anyhow, I need to get back to my dorm. It's getting late."
"What's you name? I'm Chazz, Chazz Princeton."
"Ashley, call me Ash like my friends do." Ashley smiled at him before standing up
Is she sure she can go back on her own? Chazz grabs Ashley's hand
"I don't trust you'll be going back to your dorm… Without any help..." Chazz muttered as he blushed
"So you'll take me? That is SO SWEET of you, CHAZZ." Ashley teased with a giggle
Chazz sighed and walked with Ashley walking beside him, wearing a big grin.
For a cocky guy, you sure have a soft heart, Chazz.
RAIKI POV
After Bastion and I separated, I ate my dinner quietly in my room, and somebody knocked on my door. I had no choice but to answer it.
"Yes?" I said as I saw the delivery guy in front of me.
"Is this the room of Miss Ashley?"
"No, she's on that room." I told him as I pointed on the door opposite to mine
"Oh, my mistake."
He went to her door and knock as I saw this big suitcase next to him.
What is in that box, I wonder?
The delivery guy knocked once again, but there was no answer. I watch him as he knocked again.
"Looks like she's not there. You can leave them to me; I'll give it to her."
"I had specific instructions to give it to her, and I also need her to sign because it has a letter along with it."
"I'll sign it. Don't worry; I'll make sure she gets it."
He thought about it for a moment before handing me the papers needed to be signed. After that he gave me the letter and suitcase along with a laptop and a CD, and then he left without saying another word.
After a while, I started to become uncomfortable.
She said she was going to be in her room, yet… She isn't. I'm going to look for her.
So I went out of the dorm to look for her, but as I stood outside our dorm I saw an obelisk student walking with Ashley.
NORMAL POV
"Ashley!" Raiki shouted
"Rai?"
Chazz glared at the Ra boy.
"Where have you been?!"
"Long story." Ashley giggled nervously
"You, obelisk! What are you doing with Ra's Angel?! Aren't you guys contented with having Alexis in your dorm already?!" Raiki shouted at Chazz angrily
(A/N: No offence intended in the last line. (Nervously laughs))
Ashley lets go of Chazz's hand and put both hands on her mouth in shock.
"Chazz—you're an OBELISK?!" Ashley exclaimed
Chazz glared at Raiki, he was surprisingly making friends not because of his name but because he was him, but Raiki had to burst his bubble.
"Why are you jealous that obelisk guys get more girls than you Ra geeks?" Chazz snorted
Ashley shook the feeling off and gathered her strength to gain back her poise.
"Hello?! Ra student standing right here!!" Ashley shouted
Raiki walked over to Ashley and held her hand.
"Come on, Ashley."
"Chazz… Thanks for the company and walking me back to my dorm though…" She muttered as she tried to look away from him
"Whatever." Chazz said as he left the Ra dorm
"Come on Ashley."
"Calling me Ash is ok."
Raiki smiled and led her back to the dorm then to her room.
"Ash, you have some stuff that was delivered a while ago." Raiki said as he open Ashley's door
"Oh? What was it?"
"A suitcase, a letter, a laptop and a CD."
Ashley sat down on her bed.
"Wait here, I'll go get them."
Raiki went to his room and got Ashley's things and put them in her room.
"Now… First the letter."
"I'd rather not, Rai. I'll just get to them when I can see again. But… "
"But?"
"Can you please open the suit case?"
Raiki opens the suitcase only to be surprised on what was in it. It was a stuff turtle; he took it out and underneath was clothes, Ashley's clothes no doubt.
"Some clothes… And a stuff turtle?"
"GIVE IT!" Ashley shouted at him as she was flushed with embarrassment
"Ok…" Raiki gives Ashley her stuff animal
"I'm sorry… It was a gift from a special friend."
"That's fine, no problem." Raiki smirked
"Well it's getting late, you better rest now." Raiki concluded as he headed for the door
"Ok, good night, Rai. See you tomorrow."
ASHLEY POV
Raiki left my room and I changed into a big T-shirt that came from the suitcase that Raiki had brought to my room earlier.
Chazz is an obelisk blue student… But he felt like a different person when we were at the lighthouse, definitely a completely different person from the one that Rai met.
I shook the thought away.
People here are completely weird…
I then grabbed, then hugged my stuff turtle before jumping on my bed, and remembered about how I even got it.
FLASH BACK
Ashley from 3 years ago was at the finals of an international duel tournament with group of guys and a girl around her.
"Don't worry, Ash. You're bother will come he promised didn't he?" A guy with blonde hair had said
"I know, Joey. But he has never come to one of my duels before. It makes me a little nervous." Ashley answered
A black hair boy had put his arm around her shoulder.
"Come on, it's just a duel. Nothing to be nervous about, you're definitely one of the best after Yugi that is." He mused
"Thank you for the encouraging words, Tristan, but still the butterfly in my stomach won't disappear."
"Ashley, I'm not Atemu but I'm sure he'll say something like just believe in the heart of the cards and do your best and everything will be fine." A spiky boy had said
"That's right, Ash. Just believe." A short haired brunet girl had continued
"Yugi… Tea…"
"ASH!!" A boy with bright green eyes called as he ran towards the group, as Ashley's face flushed
"Hey, isn't that one of the participants?" Tristan asked everyone
"Yes, he's my final opponent."
Everyone just stared at her as she approached the dark blue hair boy.
"Jesse, please don't shout my name, please." She begged
"Ok, but I'm going to give you something alright?"
"But… I didn't get you anything…" She frowned at the boy
He blushed.
"That's fine. Just accept it." Jesse gives her a brown bag
Ashley opens it and saw a very cute green turtle stuff toy. She takes it out of the bag and hugs the stuff toy.
"It's SO cute!! I love it! I'll treasure it always!" Ashley smiled at her friend brightly
END FLASHBACK
I let myself fall on the comfy bed.
Then again… I always have that effect on people… But then again I'm also weird, at some point…
I cuddled my turtle.

Not so long after I fell asleep.
NORMAL POV
Ashley heard a loud knock on the door and fell off her bed.
THRUD
Darn, so sleepy… What time is it?
Then another knock came from the door. Ashley stood up and stretched her hand as she followed the sound. She put her hand on the doorknob and opens the door, and there in front of her was Bastion who stood completely shocked at her.
"Ashley? What are you wearing??" Bastion was as red as a tomato as he stared at the girl in front of him
"I'm sorry my minds not full working yet can you try again, like after a few hours?"
"Ashley, Its 6 in the morning we have class, remember?" Bastion clears his throat with a cough
"I didn't know!! Shoot!"
Then Ashley closes the door on Bastion and with high speed she showered, brushed her teeth, changed to her uniform, brushed her hair, put her PDA, wallet and iPod in her pockets and grabbed some paper and pen in just 10 minutes. Then opens the door again with Bastion waiting on her door step.
"Done!" Ashley sighed then gave a large grin
"T-that was fast…"
I didn't have time to dry my hair… Oh, well…
"Well, I didn't want to make you wait for too long." Ashley answered as she nervously laughed
Bastion and Ashley walked along the corridor heading to the cafeteria; as usual they were holding hands.
"Here, give me your PDA so it can wake you up ahead of time."
Ashley hands Bastion her PDA, and Bastion takes a look at it.
"Ashley, why is your PDA different?"
"Huh?"
Oh, shoot, I forgot about that…
"You have extra features…" He said suspiciously
"Oh, right… I put those in… While we were at the boat, that's right. Because I thought it would help my stay here… Plus I WAS BORED!!"
I hope he buys it… I'm such a bad lair…
"Oh? Then you must be very talented to have done that."
She's obviously hiding something… That she doesn't want anyone to know.
"Thank you for the compliment…" As she smiled as sweetly as she could without giving the impression she lied
He bought it… I'm so-so-so sorry, Bastion… I'll let you be the first to know when I'm give the permission to… Promise.
Bastion frowned at her as she studied her reaction.
If she doesn't want anyone to know that's fine… But why am I so affect with it…
Ashley was quiet the whole time that Bastion was figuring out her PDA.
They had just reach the cafeteria, and Bastion had just set Ashley's PDA.
"Bastion, I'll pay for our breakfast, ok? I mean since you paid for my dinner yesterday…" Ashley managed to say after a long time of silence
"Its fine, I didn't mind. Here your PDA is alarmed at 5 in the morning enough time to prepare."
Bastion gives Ashley back her PDA.
"Bastion, do you get up at 5 in the morning?"
"Yes, why?"
"No reason. Just felt like asking."
Ashley lets go of Bastion's hand and grabs his blazer instead. Afterwards Bastion took two trays; put a stack of pancakes with butter and syrup and a bottle of milk and of course eating utensils. They approached the cashier, and then Bastion felt someone tugging his blazer.
"I'll pay for it, Bastion. Please?"
Ashley took out her wallet and gives the cashier some money.
"Ashley, you gave too much."
Ashley laughed nervously and then the cashier gives her the change. They went to a vacant table much like the night before during dinner. This time Bastion gave Ashley the fork and knife for her to use. Raiki had joined them once again to Bastion's discomfort and they started eating, while having a conversation.
"So Ashley did you sleep well, with your stuff turtle last night?" Raiki teased
Ashley was going to pop a vein and kicked Raiki's shin in retaliation.
"Ou—"
"Stuff turtle?" Bastion asked
"About that… My stuff came last night and were delivered in the wrong room… Specifically Rai's."
"I see. He opens stuff that isn't his?"
"I do no such things! I wanted to know who it belonged too."
"Oh, so you open my luggage that may possibly contain underwear…" Ashley teased back
Bastion's and Raiki's became red in color.
"Hey!! I'm not a pervert!!"
Bastion smiled, in the realization that Ashley was getting comfortable hanging around them.
"Thank you for the meal!" They said in unison then there was an awkward pause followed by laughter.
They stood and started to walk to they're classes.
"Hey, what you first class?" Raiki asked all of a sudden
"We have Dr. Vellian Crowler first." Bastion answered
"Hey, he is my first class too!" Raiki exclaimed
"I wonder what he's like…" Ashley muttered
Raiki ignoring the comment grabs her hand and started swings it, like a playful little boy, to Bastion's irritation.
"This means we'll be walking together to school every single morning, my dear Ashley!"
Bastion's facial expression went from irritate to angry, while Ashley laughs nervously with an anime sweat drop.
"Hey, Bastion?"
"Yes?"
"Help me with my homework? Please?"
"Yes, I will."
THESE TWO are completely ignoring me…
They reach the classroom 30 minutes before class even starts. They took the mid section seats in class.
Bastion started to write formulas on a paper, while Raiki was fooling around, doing paper air planes and making them fly around the room. Ashley sat on her seat spinning her PDA on the table.
Suddenly her PDA rotated so fast it went off the edge fortunately Raiki had grabbed it before it went over the edge.
"You should be careful, these things are expensive." Raiki told Ashley in a monotone voice which made Bastion stare at him with his brow raised
"Nante ne." Raiki mused with a big sweet smile as he gave the PDA back to Ashley
Bastion rolled his eyes and went back to his equations, as Ashley understanding put her PDA back to her pocket and put her iPod on instead, playing Say Goodbye by S-Club.
After a few minutes later students start to come in. Jaden and Syrus sat just behind Bastion and Ashley.
"Ash!" Jaden called
Ashley doesn't hear his voice.
"Ash..." Jaden called again
She still has no clue she's being called, as Bastion and Raiki were getting a bit irritated.
"Ashley…" Jaden called once again
Bastion sighed and took off one of Ashley's headset.
"Jaden's calling you." Bastion whispered to her ear
Ashley takes off her other headset and turns her head.
"What is it, Jay?"
"Good morning." Jaden said with a big smile on his face
Both Bastion and Raiki anime falls from their seats, as Syrus anime sweat drops.
"That's IT?!" Bastion said angrily
"You called her and called her and called her… JUST TO SAY GOOD MORNING?!" Raiki shouted
"Yup!"
Ashley giggled nervously as the two Ra boy anime falls again, while Syrus anime sweat drops again.
"JADEN!! You-" Bastion shouted, as he was cut off
"Anyhow... Good morning, Jay. By the way, this is Raiki Caelum, another Ra student." Ashley said with a smile
"Nice to meet'cha, this is Sy, by the way, which short for Syrus."
"Nice to meet you both." Rai sweat drops
"I can't believe Jaden…" Bastion muttered as he sat down again, while only Ashley heard about the comment.
Ashley giggled, as Dr. Crowler had entered the room. Bastion and Raiki both takes their seats.
"Now, class… I'm Dr. Vellian Crowler I'll be your teacher on this subject and I'm also the head of the obelisk boys' dorm." Dr. Crowler had started to speak
Oh help me Ra; I don't really know whether this is a voice of a man or a woman…
Dr. Crowler had scanned the whole room and after seeing Jaden his eyes were affix to him.
"Ah, I see the SILFER SLACKER is in this class… Let this be a lesson to you all! You must not become THAT." As 'it' pointed to Jaden
Ashley suddenly stood up in protest, as she was reminded of Chazz's words from the night before plus the fact that 'it' was actually the head of obelisk dorm didn't help too.
"I don't see why you HAVE TO pick on Silfers! WE're all here because WE are all skilled duelists!"
Ashley blushed; it was kind of a one thing moment of outburst.
"We're all still duelists that battle with our heart and souls." She continued
That is somewhat cliché… It sounded better when I was only thinking about it. Ashley anime sweat drops
Dr. Crowler was red, as in boiling mad at Ashley's outburst.
"You, Ra girl! And who might you be?! Lecturing a Professor none the less, HOW DARE YOU!"
Ashley took all her courage and guts to answer 'it', while everyone was watch the drama unfold.
(A/N: No offence intended, for those who are Dr. Crowler fans.)
"I-I'm Ashley, a Ra freshman student." Ashley said the paused
"Just someone who's practicing her freedom of speech, OH DEAR PROFESSOR." She continued then takes her bow and gives her audience a bright smile before sitting in her seat once more
Definitely she's in the top section of 'its' blacklisted people.
Darkangelsonic: I've gone overboard with these one! Won't you say, Chazz?
Chazz: Whatever.
