"I don't see why you HAVE TO pick on Silfers! WE're all here because WE are all skilled duelists!"

Ashley blushed; it was kind of a one thing moment of outburst.

"We're all still duelists that battle with our heart and souls." She continued

Ashley took all her courage and guts to answer 'it', while everyone was watch the drama unfold.

"I-I'm Ashley, a Ra freshman student." Ashley said the paused

"Just practicing her freedom of speech, OH DEAR PROFESSOR." She continued then takes her bow and gives her audience a bright smile before sitting in her seat once more

Definitely she's in the top section of 'its' blacklisted people.

ASHLEY POV

It's been two weeks since first day of school and I've been hangout with Jay and the guys a lot, especially Bastion. I've already seen… I mean, heard them duel, I cheered for them every time, since I didn't usually do anything else, but that during their battles. The week was just about to end, it was already Friday night we had just finished eating and changing out of our uniforms and into some normal and comfy clothes. Bastion right now is helping me with my homework and I needed all the help I can get both Jay and me had the same destiny with regards to Dr. Crowler, death by homework. But as of right now Bastion and I are both getting us ready for our monthly exams. He sat on the chair and used my study table, while I was lying on my bed. I've always wondered how he looked like, since we became best friends in such a short time. Rumors have been spreading about me and Bastion going out; it didn't bother him or at least that's how I saw it.

He's so quiet and so serious when it comes to studying.

"Ashley, recite all kinds of magic cards." I heard him demand all of a sudden

"Normal spells, quick play spells, continuous spells, equip spells, ritual spells —"

Seto's voice echoed 'Low profile…'

Hearing that in my head made me jump and fall from my bed face first, with only my lower body still on the bed.

THRUD

I could hear Bastion's faint voice saying or at least what I can make out of it was, "Ashley, are you ok? What were you doing?!"

I could feel the cold floor rubbing on my cheek and didn't feel like answering him.

"I'm going to turn you over, ok?"

"Hn." Was all I could manage to say.

I felt his hands strong yet gentle hold my arm and cautiously turned me to my backside, then the rest of my lower body fell.

THRUD

"Ite… Bastion, it hurts…"

BASTION POV

I was studying for our exam at Ashley's room; I looked over to see what she was doing in her bed. She was cuddling this stuff turtle while lying down on her bed. I mean if it was someone else I'd say it's immature, but it was Ashley and one word could describe it…

Cute…

I shook off the thought and started to concentrate on the exams and I should be helping her study too. I looked at my book and the notes I've made, one copy for her and my own copy.

"Ashley, recite the kinds of magic spells."

"Normal spells, quick play spells, continuous spells, equip spells, ritual spells —" I heard her say

Then I heard a loud 'THRUD' that make me look her way.

She fell from her bed, I blushed as I saw the sight, she was upside down and her face was on the floor, due to gravity her shirt was pulled down in a way that I could already see her slim figure underneath.

It's a good thing she's wearing shorts tonight.

My mind started to reminisce without my permission for just a moment and looking back at the first day when I woke her up for school. She only wore a big shirt, long enough to reach mid way of her legs—I cut off the thought completely and concluded I shouldn't be thinking of that now.

I stood up and rush to her side.

"Ashley, are you ok? What were you trying to do?!"

She didn't answer and that worried me.

"I'm going to turn you to your backside, ok?"

"Hn." Was all she replied and I couldn't tell if she was losing her consciousness or something.

I held her by her arms and gently turned her, follow by another 'THRUD', her lower body fell on the floor.

"Ite… Bastion, it hurts…" I hear her complain in a soft tone

She made me want to laugh when I saw her cheek that were red and actually had floor markings on it, but I tried not to and just simply smiled at her.

"Well, that's one way of getting out of bed." I mused at her

Then there was an awkward pause; then we laughed it off. Even I have to admit, it was fun being with her.

NORMAL POV

That night Bastion slept on Ashley's study table from all the studying they did, while Ashley who was just lying on her bed heard Bastion talking in his sleep.

"You're just an equation…"

"Waiting to be cracked…"

Ashley couldn't help but smile.

He talks in his sleep. …He even duels in his sleep. She took her blanket and followed Bastions voice. Through the week, she was actually getting good at doing things without her eyesight. Ashley slowly puts her blanket on top of Bastion to keep him warm and went back to her bed, cuddled her turtle and slept.

Ashley's and Bastion's PDA simultaneously alarms at exactly 5 in the morning. Bastion was the first one who woke up, realizing he was cover in a blanket looks at Ashley, still sleeping on her bed. Bastion sighed.

Ashley, if you catch a cold I won't forgive myself…

Bastion stood, took the blanket and headed over to Ashley's bed and looked at the sleeping girl before cautiously putting the blanket on her. Ashley starts to wake up.

"B-Bastion?"

"Morning."

Ashley sat up as quickly and faced Bastion, there face were inches away from each other. Bastion blushed then back away from her.

"Good morning."

"Ashley, let's go to Ms. Fontaine for your check up ok?"

"I have a better idea… Let's not and say we did."

The door suddenly opens wide and there was Raiki standing with wide eyes.

"WHAT?!" Raiki shouted

"Raiki?" They both chorused

"I won't have that! How would you be able to live without seeing the world again!!" Raiki exaggerated

"Raiki, you've lived this long. It'll be fine, I'll be able to see when my eyes are ready to."

"Well, that's true. Ms. Fontaine said that she'll be able to see soon."

"That's right!"

"Hey Bastion, you like having to escort Ash around don't you?" Raiki teased

"Huh?"

"Hello, sitting RIGHT HERE!!" As she waved her hand, willy-nilly

Bastion grabbed one of her hands that made her stop and blush.

"Sure, we can't have Ashley to have another accident."

"You're hopeless." Raiki sighed as he brush his hair away from his face with his hand

"Raiki Caelum, YOU ARE AN IDIOT IMPLYING SUCH THINGS!" As she grabbed her pillow with her free hand and threw it to Raiki hitting his face.

Bastion smiled at Ashley.

"Nice shot, I couldn't have done it any better myself."

Ashley smiled brightly with pride.

"Ok… NOW OUT!! I NEED TO CHANGE!!" Ashley said suddenly as she pointed to the door

Bastion lets go of Ashley then went to his room to change and Raiki went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Ashley stood then walked over to her drawer, taking a yellow and black hoodie and a pair of baggy khaki pants then headed to the shower to do her thing.

RAIKI POV

I had just got kicked out of Ash's room along with Bastion.

"Well, I'll be in my room, changing. Don't do anything you'll regret while we're gone." I heard him say in a sort of monotone way

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." I smiled mischievously as I pretended that I was planning something

Bastion glared at me and I just laughed then he walks away. I loved messing with his head; it's boring when it's Jay, he's too easy and Sy is too obedient. Then again there is Ash… I clenched my fist.

Ash… I wonder if she'll recognize me if she saw me…

My thoughts were cut off when I heard two groups of guys shouting, so I went to see what was happening. It was a group of obelisk and a group of Ra students. I saw a familiar face in the group it was Dimitri aka copy cat. We were classmates at Banner's class so we were able to make friends somewhat.

"Hey Dimitri. What's going on?"

"These obelisks just won't leave us alone!"

"Why?"

"BECAUSE WE WANT TO SETTLE THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL! THERE IS ONLY ONE ANGEL IN DA! THAT'S ALEXIS RHODES." as obelisk shouted

"I DIDN'T ASK YOU!" I shouted back angrily

Everyone went quiet, I felt Dimitri tensed up.

"Why the heck do we have a say on that title? Why? Is it yours to take?!" I scolded them

Why the heck am I getting fired up?!

"Alexis is the only ANGEL around here." A voice came from behind me said

I turned around to see who had said that and saw three obelisk girls.

"You're not supposed to encourage them." An obelisk blue girl with blonde long hair had told her with a frown

"Alexis Rhodes!" I heard them sigh

"Hey, the girl named Alexis. You want to Duel Ash?" I asked her in the most serious face that I can manage without being too scary

"Ash?"

"T-that's what they're here for…" Dimitri manage to say as he pointed to the obelisk group of boys

"Ashley, Ra's Angel." A Ra student added

"Isn't she the girl Dr. Crowler was so angry at from our first day of classes?"

"Wait, isn't she blind?"

The crowd became restless to my annoyance.

ASHLEY POV

I just finished brushing my hair, I heard a couple of foot step near the door and I opened the door to only hear a GASP.

"Yes?" I said

"We need to talk." It was a low voice, but it sounded familiar and a completely different language than anyone had used here at DA.

We both started talking a totally uncomfortable and different language, at least it was to me.

"Makuba-kun? Is that you?"

"You're eyes…" I could heard the sadness in his voice.

"I'm blind… A-at the moment, don't tell anyone."

I hear him sigh and went inside my room. I heard him put some things down on the floor. He closed the door right after that, then pulled towards him and hugged me.

"You clouts, you'll never learn."

He had gotten better… Unlike me who hadn't even improved at all.

"I missed you too. I can't believe you acting quite like you're brother."

"Please don't remind me. You're spoiling the moment."

I pushed him as the realization came to me.

"WHO TOLD YOU TO COME?!"

"That's not important and I told you not to spoil the moment."

Since Seto-sama wasn't paying much attention to Mokuba ever since battle city… He was force to act on his own, even with that I can't say they don't pay attention to me—which sometimes I wish they did.

"You SPIED on ME didn't you?!"

"Well… Not really. People DO worry you know, and I doubt you read the letter or watched the video we sent."

"If anyone saw you… I'm dead with…" Mokuba covered my mouth with his hand and took me inside my room

"Don't say HIS name, someone might hear."

He's still concern about everything and everyone after all this time.

I tried to open my mouth.

"…And don't utter another sound—OR ELSE." Was the next thing I heard so I closed them, not daring to disobey

I nodded.

"Can I see your eyes?"

I nodded again.

NORMAL POV

Makuba, now in his teenage years, takes off Ashley's bandages.

"Ashley, open your eyes."

Ashley did as she was told; opens her topaz colored eyes and suddenly saw a bright light; Makuba at the moment was holding a flashlight near Ashley's eyes then tossed it to the side to grab something else.

"MAK—"

Ashley's eyes widen as she felt something on her lips, something wet. Her eyes were starting to get their focus steadily because of the shock. Soon her eyes were able to see again. The first thing or rather person she saw Makuba standing in front of her, holding something in front of her and that thing had stopped licking her.

"What the—A PUPPY!!"

"I warned you, didn't I?" Makuba smirk at her

Makuba had short hair now wearing a gray hoodie with khaki pants and a cap and in his hands was a white and black furred Siberian husky that was only 2 months old.

"I really can't believe you… Jerk." As she put her fingertips on her lips

"Well, you can see now… Can't you?"

There was a slight pause as Ashley saw Mokuba was in fact amused of her.

"Who's it from?"

"Everyone, but I gave them the idea." He said proudly

Mokuba had put down the pup, when Ashley smiled, and hugged the raven hair boy, her childhood friend from the orphanage.

"Thank you for the help and the puppy. I love him and I'll take good care of him." Ashley whispered to Mokuba's ear

He smirk, waved 'Goodbye' and left.

THIS IS DEFINITELY the most wonderful thing that has happened to me since I got here! I can't wait to tell the others!! But first—I don't want to spoil the surprise—

Ashley took a bandana from her drawer and tied it around her eyes.

Ashley headed to Bastion's room.

"Bastion… Can we go now?"

"Yes, in a minute."

Ashley hears Bastion open the door.

"I have good news."

"Really?" Bastion raised his brow at his friend's appearance

"Where's Rai and everyone else? I want everyone to hear!"

"Rai's at the cafeteria while the other Ra students are down stairs."

Ashley grabs Bastion's arm with her two hands and pulls him to the direction of the stairs.

"Alright, just wait a minute."

Bastion closed his room and went with Ashley down stairs, when they heard shouting.

"That was Rai!" Ashley announced

Bastion rubbed his forehead like he had a headache, then Ashley pulled Bastion to the corridors.

"Everyone's here, with a group of obelisk blue students and…"

Ashley felt Bastion's hand becoming sweaty, shaky and rather warmer than usual, so she lets go of his hand and unties her bandana. To see what was happening to her friend. Her topaz eye gleamed in the morning sunlight; she shielded them as they adjust to the light.

"Hey guys, my eyes are fixed!" She announced happily

Ashley looked at her best friend, the very person who has helped these past few weeks and the person she has grown attach to. And saw Bastion was blushing at the time too busy staring at Alexis Rhodes that he didn't even hear what she had just said. She got the idea as she saw Alexis was the reason of her best friend's odd behavior.

The obelisk guys were in awe, everyone was quiet, all staring at the girl.

"C-congratulations." Dimitri had only manage as he saw Ashley and she smiled in thanks

They, all with the exception of Raiki and Bastion, sigh at the Ra girl; as Raiki ran over to Ashley and can't help but smiled.

"What's the shouting about guys?"

"You're Ra's Angel? You're still no match for Alexis." One of the obelisk girl mused

"Ra's what?"

"DA can only have one Angel and that's Alexis." She continued

"Jasmine, please stop it." Alexis told her

"Whatever that is… You can have it! …If it causes this much conflict between our dorms, it's not worth it. I mean, we're all staying in one school, so why not be friends, right?"

Her eyes showed complete sadness that pierced everyone's heart except Bastion who was busy at the moment.

"I don't want it."

"But Ashley…!" Dimitri tried to reason

"Mo! Stop it! I already said I don't want it."

She gave up the title that easily. Alexis crossed her arms as she watches her carefully

"I can make my own title!" Ashley declared

"I might not be the Angel of DA but I will be the strongest girl duelist!" she continued

This is going to be an interesting year with her and Jaden around…

Ashley's stomach suddenly growls.

"Oops, sorry, I guess I'm hungry." She said as she light hits her own head and laughs nervously

"Come on guys, let's go get some breakfast!" She invited every Ra student with the sweetest smile she could manage at the time

All Ra students except for Raiki, Bastion and Ashley went back to the Ra dorm.

"Alexis, I'll see you in the battle field!" Ashley had said with a smile

Raiki was starting get annoyed by the group of googly eyed obelisk blue guys and grabs Bastion by the arm pulls him towards the dorm.

"Ashley, you coming?"

"Of course!"Ashley smiled and tied her bandana on her arm then runs after them

The obelisk boy sighed at the scene.

"Boys." The girls sighed as they rolled their eyes

Unknown to everyone there was someone watching the whole time.

That's great, Ash…

Then he walks away from them and goes on his way.

Ashley caught up with the two Ras.

"Hey wait up!" Ashley shouted at Raiki and Bastion

"Who are you?" Bastion asked

Ashley giggled, as Raiki looked at Bastion as if he was crazy.

"It's Ash, Bastion."

"Nice to see you at last, Bastion." Ashley grins

"Ashley?"

"Oh, pardon Bastion, Masseur Rai, Bastion was busy during my grand performance." Ashley teased Bastion as she winked at Rai to play along

Raiki and Ashley laughed; Ashley soon took a deep breath and grabbed Bastion's hand. Bastion blushed as Ashley smiled and took out her iPod.

"Hey Bastion, Wake up your Heart." Bastion's eyes grew wide.

"It is you…"

"Are you distracted?!"

"I don't get distracted, Raiki!"

"Yes, you are."

"Ashley… Not you too!"

"See! You ARE distracted even Ash agrees with me!"

Ashley smiled at Raiki continuing to tease the now blushing Bastion as they walk to their dorm.

Jaden: Where was I in all of this?!

Darkangelsonic: Sleeping? I'll put you in the next chapter, Jaden!

Jaden: But I wanted to duel!! (whined)

Darkangelsonic: I'll try, honest, I will. (with her most innocent puppy dog eyes)
