ASHLEY POV
Everyone was tired the whole night we kept on laughing, teasing and playing around in Jay, Sy and Chumley's room. It was crammed but we managed. Rai was resting on the bed while Bastion was sitting up, resting his back on the wall and they were sleeping. Sy and Jay were on the floor sleeping with my trunk cards on the floor and their decks in their hands with Alexis next to Jay her face inches away from Jay's also asleep. Chumley, on the other hand, was fast asleep in his bed. I tip-toed my way to the door and took on last look at them and smiled. They were so friendly and kind… And they're my friends. I took out my phone and took a group picture of them; I felt it was a good idea to take a shot of them like this. It was sorta cute. I snuck out of the room I needed space and some air... I felt I was missing something… Something important. I went down the stairs quietly and went out for a walk.
I wonder… Why is it that Chazz and Zane aren't hanging out with us…I mean, yeah, the Silfer room is crammed enough by just us… But Zane and Chazz helped me before.
Then THE DREAM flashed in my mind… Chazz was in it… He was informing me of what I needed to do, but still in a 'Chazz smug' way.
I laughed. 'Chazz smug' a new word! It was weird how different he was during that night at the lighthouse and in class, like Dr. Jakyll and Mr. Hyde…
I sighed.
"What are you sighing about? It's late; don't tell me you're not sleeping tonight." I heard a deep voice say
I turned around and saw Zane. I looked around and I was at the lighthouse without even noticing it.
"Hi, Zane." I smiled at him
"You didn't answer the question. I won't have you fainting again."
"I'll sleep later, Zane, don't worry. I was thinking how weird Chazz is compared to my Chazz."
"Excuse me?" Zane looked shocked he wasn't expecting that from me and I smiled
"I mean the Chazz I met here, when I was blind. I just differentiate that Chazz as my Chazz, because he's different from obelisk's Chazz." I explained after I sat down next to where he stood
"I see."
"I heard you dueled against Jaden and won. Congratulations." I told him as I looked at the stars above us
"Yeah…"
"What do you think of Sy and his friends now?"
"I think… Sy has good friends." He said thoughtfully
"So does that mean you'll be our friend too?" I teased as I slight tilted my head to look at his reaction
He stared at me, but as far as I can tell he was looking if I was serious or not. I stood up and stretched.
"Anyway, the guys are at Jaden's, they all fell asleep goofing off and helping Jay and Sy organize their decks. It was a little crammed… Well, a lot crammed, but we managed somehow."
He didn't say a thing he just kept staring at me.
"I just went out to get some air." I smiled at him
"Besides that… I'm the only one with no place to sleep in that crammed room. So either way I can't sleep." I continued as I dusted my skirt
"You can sleep in your own room, you know?" He suggested
"That'll be too boring! I came all the way to Jay's and didn't even get to spend the night with everyone else." I pouted, he sighed
"You want to spend the night in my room?" He offered though it was more of skeptical than offering
Good, he understood what I was trying to say. I laughed inwardly
I nodded and smiled at the obelisk.
"I'm sure it wouldn't be as fun as being with the others, though."
"Oh, that's fine. I've had enough share of fun tonight." I answered
"I just want someone calm… (Yawn) And nice… (Yawn)To hang out with… (Yawn) Tonight."
"Come on then." He said as he grabbed my hand and led me to the obelisk boy's dorm
NORMAL POV
Zane had grabbed Ashley's hand and led her to the obelisk blue boy's dorm.
"Don't fall asleep here, Ashley." Zane warned, as she followed Zane like a sleepy little girl being dragged back to bed
"Oh… Alright…" Ashley answered almost half asleep
"If you don't wake up I'm going to carry you there." Zane threatened
"I'M UP!!!" Ashley shouted and Zane laughed
"Did you just laughed?!?" Ashley gasped, Zane frowned again
"What's wrong with laughing?"
"Nothing. But I never could imagine you laughing… I mean, you're always so serious."
"Nice save." Zane said sarcastically
"Sorry, that was a little blunt. It's just that you briefly show any expression at all… Except serious that is."
"I take dueling and studies seriously, so what?"
"I don't know… I really don't see it… It's like you're a robot or something, you know… Always have a straight face and not feel anything."
"You're saying I'm not human?"
"Maybe?"
"Very funny."
"Then show me."
"I've got nothing to prove to you." Was all he said and their conversation ended at that.
They were both quiet until they had reach Zane's room.
They enter the huge obelisk blue dorm room. Ashley was speechless. It was extravagant and she felt so small. Zane went over to the bed to take a pillow and blanket.
"You can have the bed. I'll sleep on the couch." Zane told Ashley as Ashley walked over to the huge master bed and sat down
"But… It's…"
"It's?" Zane put down the pillow and blanket on his couch
"So… Big! I mean I knew the obelisk dorms is a very extravagant dorm but… So… Big!" Ashley threw her arm and let herself fall on the big cushiony bed and that caught Zane's attention
"So you said."
"… I feel so small here…" Zane walk over to her and sat next to her
"Because you are."
Ashley pulled the pillow on the bed and threw it on Zane's face.
"Jerk!" Ashley shouted as she smiled and earned a smirk from Zane
"Get some sleep. You're friends will need you to cheer for them."
"And Sy will need you there too. So you're coming with me!" Zane put the pillow back to Ashley's other side when his PDA slipped out of his uniform and on to her stomach
"Hey! Your PDA! Wonder, what's in it." Ashley announced mischievously as she scanned his PDA
"Ashley!!!" Zane shouted almost panicked and very uncool-like
Ashley was shocked at what she saw. The first pictures on his PDA were him and Sy, but there was one she'd never thought she'd see. A girl with long hair was standing in the cliff but she was facing away from the camera and Ashley could tell who the girl was, but she looked beautiful with the sunset in the background.
"Who's this? Your girlfriend?" Zane blushed and grabbed the PDA away from Ashley
"Go to bed." He said sternly
"Alright, I was just kidding." Ashley pouted, but Zane ignored it and went to his couch to get settle in for the night.
Ashley settled in Zane's bed.
"Night, Zane, and I'm sorry." Was all she said as she drifted to sleep
ZANE POV
I couldn't help but stare at Ashley who currently was sleeping on my bed. Then focused my attention on my PDA & skimmed the pictures of her and in the cliff, from her solo picture to a picture where I had put my blazer on her.
Didn't she realize she was that girl in the picture? I thought
Didn't she realize that was her when we first met? I shrugged the thought away
"Who's this? Your girlfriend?" she said… I smirk at the clueless Ra girl.
I guess not… But she really attracts trouble too easily. I sighed
FLASHBACK
Zane had left Ashley on the cliffs, when he heard some bustling bushes nearby. With a girl only in her bikini, Zane went to check it out as a gentleman should.
Zane saw an obelisk blue guy that had just fell from a tree with a digital camera on hand; suspicious of the guy, Zane took the camera to look at the pictures he had taken. It was full of great picture of Ashley in the beach and the cliffs some pictures were with Jaden, Bastion and Syrus. But when Zane saw the pictures at the cliff he couldn't just erase them and give it back to the owner. Zane took out the memory card and casually tossed back the camera to the owner.
"What are you….?"
"I'm confiscating this."
"BUT!!!"
"You don't go around stalking people!" Zane ordered with a stern expression on his face
"Y-YES SIR!!!"
END OF FLASHBACK
I turned away from her and slept. There's something important we need to go to tomorrow and sleep is what I need right now…
NORMAL POV
It was 3 am when Ashley had woken up and Zane was still asleep on the couch. Ashley fixed Zane's bed and brushed her hair a little. Ashley looked over at Zane. He looked peaceful in his sleep and she'd never seen him like that and that made her stare for a while. Zane's blanket fell on the floor and Ashley came back to reality before shrugging and walked over to Zane. She picked up the blanket and put it over him, but didn't expect Zane to suddenly grab her hand and pull her. The next thing she knew was Zane was on top of her with a dangerous and angry expression. Zane had pinned her wrists on the couch and his knees had pinned her legs; she utterly couldn't move.
"Zane?"
Zane hadn't answer.
Was something wrong with him? Ashley thought as she tried to wiggle her right hand out of his grasped.
"Zane, what's wrong?" Ashley's expression was soft and caring as he stared at her
Zane's grip had loosened and Ashley had her right hand free. Ashley cupped Zane's cheek and Zane closed his eyes; trying to calm down.
"Are you alright, Zane?" Zane nodded
"Anything wrong?" Ashley got her left hand free and cupped Zane's other cheek
"No… It's nothing…" He finally said as he opened his eyes and looked at the worried Ra girl
"Are you sure?"
"It was just a nightmare."
"Oh…"
They were quiet for a while, as Ashley decide not to ask about the nightmare for now. Ashley hadn't moved since Zane had started to answer her questions and Zane closed his eyes again before sighing.
"Ashley?"
"Hmm?"
"Stay with me for a while…"
Ashley nodded, remembering the nightmare she had the other night. She felt like crying and hurt and angry all at the same time when she woke up, if Raiki didn't distracted her even for a little while she would have burst out panicking and crying; calling on Bastion to forgive her.
Ashley moved closer to Zane, letting her hands travelled behind Zane's neck and embraced him. She was sure he needed that more than anything right now; the reassurance of having someone there—that THIS was reality. Zane was shocked, but not long after he had let her back rest on the couch as he embraced her in return. She didn't know how grateful he was right then and there, but he wouldn't say that out loud.
"Ashley?"
"Yeah, Zane?"
"You can let go now."
"Sorry." Ashley answered sheepishly as she instantly lets go of him, he smirked
"It's fine. Your friends will be looking for you, you know." Ashley's eyes widened, she had almost forgotten why she woke up so early, Zane chuckle and got off Ashley
"You better get going before any of the obelisks wake up." Zane suggested
"Oh, I'm not going through the door." Ashley told him as she walked over to the window and opened it
"We're in the second floor. You can't jump down."
"Watch me." Ashley grinned as she sat at the frame of the window already on her way out
"Ashley!" Zane called but she already jumped
Zane ran to the window and saw Ashley standing on the tree branch just beside his window.
"Scared you, didn't I?" Ashley taunted with a giggled, Zane crossed his arms
"You're still coming with me to cheer on your brother and Jay or else!" She declared
"Or else?"
"I'll tell everyone you have a secret crush." She giggled; Zane shrugged and muttered something Ashley didn't hear
"Fine, whatever." Zane finally said, then Ashley jump down to the ground
"See you later, Zane." Ashley said as she dashed to the Ra dorms as Zane watched her leave
Ashley went to her room not long after and freshened up and did Laike's morning routine, then afterwards carrying him back to the room.
"So, Laike, want to see Jay and Sy duel today?"
Laike barked at his owner and licked her face.
"I'll take that as a 'yes'."
Ashley grabbed her back pack and put the little puppy inside.
"You better behave, Laike. No biting unless I tell you so, ok?"
Laike barked at his owner again.
Ashley then stuffed the front pocket with her IPod and a notebook with a pen before putting on her bag pack carefully and jogged out her room to meet the others.
Ashley was on her way to the stadium when she saw a familiar person in the hallway, it was Alexis. She looked very guilty about Jaden and Syrus.
"Lexy!" Ashley called
"Ashley? What happened to you this morning?"
Ashley stopped for a moment; just standing next to Alexis near the stadium door.
"Early raiser? But what's with the face?"
"It's just that… …Um… Why did it have to be Jaden and Syrus?"
"Because of Crowler… But don't worry, Jay and Sy have this under control."
Laike jumped and lick the obelisk girl and it made Alexis laugh.
"Lexy... (pause) I know you're worried about Jay, but he's going to win I know it." Alexis blushed as she was caught off guard by the Ra
"I'm worried about Syrus too, you know!" She said defensively
"Right… He's going to win, if he doesn't, well, no more free lunch for him."
"Ow… That's not fair!!!" A male voice whined, Ashley giggled as she saw Sy and Jay walked toward them
"You'd be expelled if you don't win, Jay, so that means I don't owe you lunch anymore."
"Then I'll win for sure!!! Right, Sy?" Jaden mused
"Um… Right." Sy answered nervously
Ashley analyzed the two Silfers, while Jaden stood next to Ashley playing with Laike and not paying attention to the discussion.
"How about… A kiss for good luck?" Ashley suggested and winked at the guys
"WHAT?!?" Sy shouted
"Ash, I don't want to break it to you but you're not actually the luckiest person alive." A voice said
Ashley turned and saw Raiki by the door.
"Not from me; from Lexy!!!"
"WHAT?!?" Alexis shouted
"Hey, they are in this mess, trying to save you." Ashley whisper in Alexis' ear
"Yeah… But still…"
"It's just a small kiss… Besides it'll boost up their confidence." Ashley said
"I…"
Ashley gave her a rather quizzical look, saying something like 'it's not like it was something like jumping off on a building...'
"F-fine."
"REALLY???" Syrus shouted
"Now you two, be good boys and close your eyes." Ashley instructed and the two Silfer obeyed
Alexis had kissed the small Silfer first on the forehead and Syrus went red as a tomato and fainted on the floor. Next was Jaden; Ashley smirked as she walked behind Jaden. Alexis was about to kiss Jaden when Ashley actually push him towards Alexis, as if by accident while she helped Syrus regain consciousness. Their lips had made contact as they fell on the ground. The two students were shocked and couldn't move for about a few minute until Raiki decided to pull Jaden off the poor girl.
"You still have a duel, remember?" Raiki pointed out, Ashley couldn't help but giggle
"Oh… Right… Sorry, Lex. Sy and I really have to go." Jaden smiled as if nothing had happened, and walked into the stadium
"Sy, wake up!!! Jay already left!!!" Raiki shouted and instantly Syrus jumped on his feet
"Sy, don't forget this!" Ashley said holding out a card for Syrus before he ran into the stadium after Jaden
"Wow… How did you…?" Ashley turned to Raiki as he helped Alexis up
"It's a Jay and Sy thing, you wouldn't understand." Raiki teased, Ashley stuck out her tongue at him
Alexis traced her lips with her fingers and couldn't believe that she had been kissed.
"Lexy, you ok? Shake it off, Lexy! I know you loved it." Ashley teased
"I DID NOT!!!" Alexis shouted while blushing at the Ra girl and received a giggle in return
"Well, you didn't pull away… So you didn't hate it either…" Ashley assumed while giggling
Alexis looked away; blushed furiously and for once didn't know how to answer the comment.
"Right…" Raiki sarcastically said as he walked away from the two girls
"Anyway, it might be the last time we see them, Lexy." Ashley said sadly as she looked away from the two
"Yeah… But no matter what we'll still cheer for them. So come on already you two!" Raiki shouted as he opened the door to the stadium
