ASHLEY POV
After that day of numerous events, the day reached its end. Chazz eventually lose to Bastion and Bastion declined moving up to obelisk. I sighed as I collapsed on my study table before grabbing my cyan colored notebook. I opened it and started to read over some of them…
"I felt something I haven't felt for awhile… …The feeling of trust and care, like we were friends for a long time. I was glad to have met you, and hate to see you go. I wanted with all my heart to cry; I couldn't help it. You were the first person I opened up to and now I'm gonna lose you. You touched my heart in such a short time and I will never regret meeting you, my precious friend."
This was what I wrote yesterday when I felt like Bastion was going to leave me… And we'd never have the chance to be together and continue to be close friends.
"Mistress, aren't you supposed to be celebrating with your friends?"
"Nah… Besides, I'd rather get myself together first before anything else, right, Buster?"
"I suppose… If you think that's the best thing to do, Hime-sama."
"Lex… Zane… Bastion… Rai… Jay… Sy… And Jesse… People I've grown to respect and care for… Outside of my little own world…" I told Buster as I flipped to the next page and started to read again…
"I've had this bad feeling,

I heard a knock from my bathroom door. Weird… I was sure I was alone here except for the fact that I have Buster and Laike with me. Laike started to bark and growl continuously at the bathroom door.
"Buster… Do you think… That's… Nightshroud?"
"I'm not sure, Hime-sama… But I can sense the dark energy coming from the bathroom."
"Buster… Please… Get help… Please…" I told Buster as she started to shake in fear
"But, young Mistress…"
"Go! Get someone! Anyone!!!" I shouted at her duel spirit
Buster soon disappear without a trace as the banging became louder and louder.
"GO AWAY!!!" I shouted at the door as Laike barked louder and louder
'Ok… I think it might go away if I tried to ignore it…'
I shifted my focus away from the door and back to my notebook and turned to the next page.
"Trying to ignore me? You won't be able to run and hide from me."
I stared at the page. It wasn't my hand writing on the notebook, but someone else's. I look back to the banging door that grew louder and louder that I couldn't concentrate on my thinking.
"Someone please help me…" I muttered as a tear began to slip from my eyes to my cheek
NORMAL POV
Down stairs where everyone else was celebrating; Bastion walked over to Raiki who was near the drinks to ask where Ashley was. Bastion casually took a cup of the drink
"Have you seen Ashley anywhere?" Bastion asked Raiki, but he shrugged in response.
"She must be in her room still preparing." Alexis said as she came over holding hands with Jaden who was a little high in sugar at the time.
"Probably, after all Zane hasn't come by yet neither." Raiki added as he looked over to a worried Bastion.
"Cheer up, Bastion! Ash'll come down any minute you'll see." Jaden said comfortingly
"But just in case… I'll go and check up on her." Bastion said before he walked and headed up to the second floor as the others watched him.
Bastion came up to Ashley's door step and knocked on the door.
"Ashley?" Bastion called when he hear some muffled sounds of sobbing on the other side.
"It's Bastion open up. What's wrong?" Bastion called again, but no answer came.
Bastion opened the door and saw Ashley on her study table curled up into a ball; she was crying.
"Ashley?" Bastion called softly as he approached her cautiously and made her turned her head towards him.
"B-Bastion?" Ashley called as her tears still were constantly running down her cheeks and made Bastion's eyes widen.
Bastion rushed over and embraced her, like his body just did it without even thinking.
"Ash… Did something happen?" Bastion softly asked.
"I-I'm scared… … I'm scared to lose someone again…" Ashley muttered and sobbed at the same time.
"Who are you going to lose, Ash? I'm still here. I'm here…" Bastion said in a panic.
"You don't understand…" Ashley muttered back to him as she continued to cry.
Bastion looked over at the study table to see Ashley's cyan notebook with a hand writing that didn't belong to her.
'Trying to ignore me? You won't be able to run and hide from me.' It said.
"Is someone trying to get you?" Bastion asked.
"I—I don't know… I don't know what he would want from me… I don't have anything of value to them!!!" Ashley shouted as if making someone purposely over hear.
"Ash, why didn't you say anything?" Bastion sternly asked her as he held her closer to him.
"I don't want you guys to be bothered… You had your own things and so does the others…" Ashley answered considerately as she lightly pushed Bastion away from her; freeing herself from him.
"This can be dangerous, don't you get it?!?" Bastion snapped at Ashley as he cut her off from what she was saying.
"I KNOW THAT!!! BUT I DON'T WANT ANYONE GETTING HURT!!! I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO GET INTO 'THAT' MESS AGAIN!!!" Ashley snapped as well as tears fell down her cheeks; her feelings now turned from scared to angry.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!?" Bastion shouted at her.
"BECAUSE WEIRD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN I'M AROUND! I HURT PEOPLE, BASTION!!! I HURT PEOPLE WHO GET CLOSE TO ME! I PUT THEM IN HARMS WAY!!! IF I CAN'T PREVENT THAT I HAVE TO JUST LEAVE THEN!!!" Ashley answered as she angrily wiped away her tears.
"Leave says who?" A voice asked from the door and Laike ran to him.
Bastion and Ashley looked over to the door with an expression saying they are all kinds of pissed right now.
"SHUT UP, RAIKI!" They chorused and Raiki back off as he took Laike off his feet.
"Everyone can hear you both down stairs. I wanted to ask what's going on but I think I already know what's going on… Right, Ash?" Raiki said to Ashley casually and knowingly.
Ashley looked away with a guilty expression and Bastion clutched his hands into fists at her reaction. Bastion charged Raiki head on and tackled him to the ground with Laike in Raiki's arms barking and growling at Bastion.
"YOU! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!" Bastion accused him.
"What the hell?!? Get off, Bastion!!!" Raiki shouted at him.
Ashley walked over to the two and tried to pull Bastion off Raiki.
"I should be protecting you from him not the other way around, Ash…" Raiki complained with a chuckle trying to make the girl laugh but Ashley ignored the comment.
Bastion was a little confused by his sudden complaint.
"Rai, I need to call my brother… I have to take a leave, now… But you can stay, I know you like being here…" Ashley announced to him.
"But I thought we're in this together?" Raiki pressed on.
"… Things change, Rai. I'm sorry, but I'll leave Laike with you so you won't get lonely… I'll leave something for everyone… But for now, I've decided this is probably best for everyone…" Ashley replied
They were quiet for a while after they heard her announcement. Ashley walked over to her table and carefully took her things.
"You can't leave…" Raiki said after a long wait of thinking.
"Rai, you're only to keep me from trouble right? That was the deal and I'm in no trouble… Yet. So if you let me leave it will stay that way." Ashley told him
"What about your dreams?!? Your goals?!?" Raiki snapped as he thought it was unfair for his best friend to leave.
"My goals and dreams… Don't have anything to do with it…" Ashley said coldly trying to act all cool.
"I'll be going first thing tomorrow." Ashley continued even if it pained her.
'Maybe, if I leave HE'll leave them alone… Jaden still needs time… It's not like I can play the Shadow games on my own… I'll probably lose someday, right?' Ashley thought to herself with sadness.
"Is it that ghost again?" Raiki mused in a calmer voice and confused Bastion.
Ghost didn't exist for Bastion because it was illogical and it confused him. Ashley had a guilty expression on her face as she looked away from Raiki. Raiki walked over to Ashley as close to be able to whisper something to her.
"What did it want from you, Ash? Tell me, I can help." Raiki soothed Ashley.
"No, you can't. Now, leave both of you… Leave me for a while…" Ashley muttered to Raiki.
Raiki took a deep breath and sighed. Raiki walked over to Bastion and patted his shoulder.
"You better make up with her before she leaves, you idiot." Raiki muttered to Bastion with a serious expression before leaving with Laike.
Ashley turned around to a contemplating Bastion who was just standing there in her room.
"Bastion Misawa, I'm honored to have met you." Ashley started and it kind of startled Bastion.
"I as well, Miss Ashley… … … …" Bastion said but realized in the months they spend together he never knew or heard what her last name was.
"You're a great friend and I'd regret to lose you and the others. … So, I guess this is for the best…" Ashley muttered but Bastion heard it and became angry again.
"HOW CAN IT BE 'THE BEST'?!? IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE US THEN STAY!" Bastion snapped again.
"DON'T YOU THINK I WANT THAT?!? I'M SAYING IT'S FOR THE BEST; I'M NOT SAYING I WANT TO LEAVE!!! IT'S TO EARLIER FOR YOU ALL TO GET INVOVLE IN THE MESS I'M IN!!!" Ashley shouted
"What mess…?" Bastion asked in a normal tone.
"It's… Complicated…" Ashley answered as she turned to look out her window seeing the bright full moon.
"Tell me. I'll understand." Bastion pressed on.
"It's too early… You'll understand… But I won't tell you. As long as I can I'll protect everyone. I'll do everything." Ashley admitted as she brushed her hair from her face.
Bastion had never seen her more serious. What was going through her head? And protect them from what exactly???
"Bastion, tell me if you would cause pain to the one you care about would you leave them to keep them safe?" Ashley asked calmly.
"Probably, if there was nothing else I could do." Bastion answered and his eyes widen.
Could it be that this… Person? Was targeting the people she cared about?
"Bastion, take care. We'll see each other again real soon, promise… But until then… Keep dueling and we'll see each other in the battle field…" Ashley promised.
Bastion smiled as he walked over to Ashley's side. Ashley looked over to him as they are now face to face.
"Someday, right?" Bastion added.
"Definitely." Ashley said as she embraced him with a smile.
Ashley was already packed up and ready to go the very next day after the little scene she and the 2 Ra boys had made in her room. She wore a simple white spaghetti topped with her brown hoodie zip up shirt and a gray sailor skirt uniform with white boots. She took her bag pack that held her essential stuff and delivered some gifts to everyone before heading to the chancellor's office. Ashley left a new set of black duel gloves for Alexis, a box of Ashley's special grilled cheese sandwiches for Chum, 5 boost packs for each Jay and Sy, Laike, her puppy given to Raiki to keep him company, her cyan notebook filled with her thoughts to Bastion. She knocked on the door of the Chancellor's office before opening it.
"Sir? I'll be leaving now…" Ashley said to Chancellor Sheppard.
"I take it that you will be on temporary leave then?" He replied.
"Yes, I'm afraid that if I stay longer… I'll get your students into trouble, Sir… I don't want that…" Ashley admitted.
"Ah, but you've grown to love it here, Ashley, right? We'll keep you safe; I'll leave you to Professor Banner care and Jaden…" He said trying to convince her.
"Thank you, but I think Jay needs a little more time before I let him jump into a much deeper and scarier Shadow Game. I'll still be around the battle field, Sir." Ashley answered with all the intentions of keeping the conversation formal and without her emotions getting in the way.
"I've seen you around campus, Ashley. You've enjoyed the company of these students…" Sheppard said as he held out pictures of her spending time with Jay, Sy, Chum, Zane, Alexis, Raiki, Bastion and even Chazz.
"All the more to protect them, Mr. Sheppard… They're my friends and I won't risk them… Not if I can help it." She answered as she stared at the pictures.
"But you will eventually need them, Ashley. Believe it or not..." Sheppard said and she sighed.
"I know…" Ashley said in defeat.
"Can I have these pictures?" Ashley started again as she took the pictures of her and her DA friends.
"It's all yours. I'll see you, during the winter break to catch up in your class." Sheppard said jokingly.
"Bye, Chancellor Sheppard." Ashley said before leaving the room.
Ashley rushed over to the docks knowing that Chazz was having a boat over to pick him up. It was just rumors but she didn't to call Yugi and the others to pick her up… She wanted to surprise them.
"Hey, Chazz… Can I have a lift to Domino City?" Ashley said hesitantly.
"Huh?!? Whatever?!? Why should I?!?" Chazz shot at Ashley as his eyes grew wide open as she followed Chazz around and she annoyed him.
"Because I can't wait for the public to see Chazz Princeton's really has a soft spot for girls." Ashley spat as she held up a picture of the time Chazz took her back to her dorm while she was still unable to see.
Chazz's eyes grew wider as he saw the picture.
"You wouldn't…" Chazz muttered.
"I would." Ashley answered and caused Chazz to curse.
Ashley giggled and she took the picture and put it away before Chazz could get his hands on her blackmail material.
"Fine… But you better keep your end of the bargain…" Chazz said finally.
Ashley hugged the soon to be ex-obelisk and he scoffed but she knew deep down he liked it.
ASHLEY POV
I giggled as I listened to Chazz mumble about how I'm a loser, how what would happen if anyone saw us, how he can't believe he has to hang out with me and why he had to put up with me.
"Chazz, have you ever thought of anything other than dueling and beating Jay… Like… I don't know… Dating a girl or getting a girlfriend, maybe?" I asked him out of the blue as we saw the yacht dock and his eyes grew wide as he stared at me.
He coughed and looked away from me about 2 minutes after that. He was now looking at the yacht; watching it dock as I watched him.
"… No… Not really. Why? Don't tell me you're in love with me, Ashley?!?" He said cockily and I laughed sarcastically.
We got on the yacht; carefully and quietly.
"Nice joke but I'm asking seriously though… I mean, without that cocky attitude of yours someone might actually grow into liking you." I started, after all when I first met him… He wasn't THAT bad…
"… … … Yeah, maybe…" Chazz admitted to me softly.
"But…?" I anticipated.
"… … … … But my priority is being the best duelist and that means beating Jaden." Chazz said calmly and that kind of caught me off guard.
I almost fell off the yacht as I heard his voice and saw his expression that was guilt mixed with depression. Chazz caught my arm and prevented me from falling overboard. I regained my balance before commenting again.
"Can't you just have fun like everyone else?" I commented and earned a scowl from him; sending me to giggles.
"Hey, I'm just pointing out what I think; don't be mad." I added as the yacht's engine started to roar and we started to move.
"I have fun…" Chazz muttered.
"Right… Give me 1 proof when and how you had fun." I countered.
"… … … … … … … … … … … … Why should I tell a loser like you?!?" Chazz shouted at me defensively probably because he didn't have an answer to it.
I giggled.
"This is going to be a long trip home…" Chazz groaned and I stuck out my tongue at him.
I walked away from him after that. I stared at the Duel Academy Island as we gained a few miles away from it and I saw Jaden and the group looking at us. I smiled and waved at them.
"JAY!!! SY!!! CHUM!!! LEXY!!! RAI!!! BASTION!!! I'LL BE BACK AND YOU ALL SHOULD BE READY!!!" I shouted at them on the top of my lungs.
Yes, I'll be able to protect everyone even Chazz and by then maybe they would be ready for whatever is in store for us. I said to myself as I looked over to him.
"For now… Take care…" I muttered and I gain a 'Hmph!' from Chazz.
I sat down next to Chazz quietly after that and this had Chazz a bit uneasy.
"… Not that I'm concern about a loser like you… But why are you suddenly so quiet?" Chazz said hesitantly.
"I can be quiet you know… Aside from that… I have something for you, Chazz." I said to him as I went through my bag pack.
I searched for my Duel cards. I looked for Ojama Yellow, the duel spirit that was currently owner less…
"I want you to have someone to accompany you in your travels…" I said as I took the card out and looked over to Buster Blader who had just appeared beside me.
Buster nodded at my gesture.
"Like a guardian… Maybe, even a friend or companion. Or… Even a partner, as Jay would say." I said to Chazz as I saw his confused façade.
"But only because we're friends." I said to Chazz and this made him laugh.
"FRIENDS?!? Who told you that?!?" Chazz mused.
"Hey, that's not very nice…" I said as I pouted and my eyes became all teary for some odd reason.
"Alright… Sheesh… You crybaby." Chazz muttered lowly and I hugged him.
I saw his face was slightly red and this kind of amused me. I gave Chazz the card right after I pulled away from him.
"Ojama Yellow??? This card is weak!!! Why are you giving it to me?!?" Chazz mused.
"Do you really think he's ready, Hime-sama?" Buster asked me and I just stared at Chazz.
"Think again, Chazz! … Just listen and look carefully." I told him.
"For what?!?" He asked in an angry tone as I saw Ojama Yellow appear in front of us.
NORMAL POV
Chazz blink a couple of times and saw the knight next to Ashley and the worm-ish looking yellow monster in front of him. He's eyes widened with confusion and fear.
"Hime-sama, you should have waited a little longer." Buster suggested to me.
"I think he's ready now, Buster." Ashley finally spoke to Buster.
"WHAT THE RA ARE THOSE?!?" Chazz shouted as he point at Buster and Ojama Yellow.
"They are called duel spirits. Buster is mine and yours is Ojama Yellow. They kind of choose great duelists and help them in their duels." Ashley began to explain.
"I'm Buster Blader, Knight of the Dragons, Protector and Guardian of the Princess." Buster introduced himself.
"Buster!!!" Ashley scolded him for calling her a 'Princess'.
"Princess?" Chazz echoed.
"Don't mind that…" Ashley said defensively as she laughed nervously.
"Boss, I'm Ojama Yellow, your loyal servant. Please take care of me from now on." Yellow said as he knelt down and kissed Chazz's shoes.
"Get off, you worm!!!" Chazz panicked as he shook off Yellow from his foot.
"HEY!!! Be nice, Chazz, OR ELSE." Ashley threatened with a serious face.
Chazz's body froze as he remembered not only did Ashley manage to be in the top 5 during exams despite Crowler waiting her head but there were rumors of people saying that it was bad to angry the girl and there were a lot of reasons why, one of them was because the whole Ra Dorm might kill you and another example would be that she is dangerous when angered plus she had that picture to blackmail him with.
"As Hime-sama was saying, the choosen duelists are destined for great things such as saving the world from the Shadow Games and such." Buster said ending the explanation.
"Shadow Games? But they are just myths!!!" Chazz exclaimed.
"Really? And you thought earlier that Duel Spirits don't exist yet you have on now." Ashley shot at Chazz.
Chazz became quiet and stared at the floor as he contemplated at the facts that were just revealed to him. Ashley just watched him.
"… So… Ash, why is it that you have a cooler Duel Spirit than I do?!?" Chazz shot at Ashley that she almost fell to the floor.
Chazz looked up to Ashley's direction.
"EH?!? AH… B-because… Hmm… Why was that again, Buster?" Ashley asked Buster innocently.
"…Because we were destined to meet, Mistress, even before Duelist Academy." Buster explained as best as he could.
"Right." Ashley agreed to Buster.
"So I'm destined with this… This WORM?!?" Chazz exclaimed.
Yellow looked hurt and Ashley just patted him on the head to cheer him up.
"Apparently, and Jay's destined to be with Winged Kuribo. … I'm going to miss that cute little flying fuzz ball." Ashley said with a giggle before looking away from everyone.
"Hime-sama…" Buster called in a worried tone because he knew how she felt and what she was thinking; they've been together long enough.
Winged Kuribo reminded her of Kuribo… Atemu's Duel Spirit and that meant being reminded of Atemu too.
"Well, at least Jaden doesn't have it any better…" Chazz muttered but Ashley heard it and grinned.
The wind started to blow on their faces and Ashley closed her eyes to cherish the feeling of the wind against her skin.
"I wish that the world was a better place for everyone to live peacefully…" Ashley said suddenly and made Chazz looked at her with a weird expression.
"Hime-sama, that'll happen soon enough…" Buster assured her and she nodded.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Chazz shot at Ashley.
"Nothing you need to know. Yet…"Ashley shot back at Chazz.
"Whatever." Chazz answered.
The trip was quiet for both of them excluding the times that Yellow would bother Chazz and he would yell at the poor Duel Spirit. They reached the dock that lead to Domino City…The same city where the King of Games can be found.
"Well, this is my stop. Thanks for the lift, Chazz. Take care, you two…" Ashley announced as she jumped to the docking area.
"Whatever…" Chazz said and Ashley smiled at the ex-obelisk.
Ashley was about to leave without another word but she suddenly stops from his tracks.
"Ash… Don't do anything stupid while you're here…" Chazz muttered as he blushed; he was trying to say 'You take care too.'
Ashley looked over to him and smiled as he saw his expression, a priceless embarrassed expression.
"Yeah, I know. I won't, Chazz, don't worry." Ashley answered with a grin.
"WHO SAID I WAS WORRY ABOUT A LOSER LIKE YOU?!?" Chazz shouted.
"Come on, Boss, at least be honest to Princess." Yellow said to Chazz and he earned a knock on the head.
"SHUT UP YOU!" Chazz scolded as his face became redder and Ashley laughed.
"Ok, I'll go now. See you around." Ashley said before she disappeared into the city.
ASHLEY POV
I went and walked around town and if I'm right… Right about now Yugi and the gang are hanging out at Yugi's Grandpa's Game Shop right now while Kaiba-sama is at his office and Ni-ni is at his own with Makuba. I stopped by the shop hoping that Grandpa and the gang were there, but I walked passed a store window and saw my reflection. Her long reddish brown hair had already reached up to my waist and my skin was paler than before I came to Duel Academy. I wonder if I'm sick… I shook away the thought. I looked so different than before; I wonder what happened… I laughed at myself. Of course, DUH! I grew up a little. This was when I decided to change my outfit; I went in to a boutique and bought a light apple green fitted spaghetti dress that cut off just above my knee with a white pair of fluffy boots and shades to cover my topaz eyes. I looked like a local now just like before, except a bit taller and older. I headed now to Grandpa Muto's Shop and went in.
"Hello, how may I help you, miss?" Grandpa Muto said to me as I enter.
"Ah, yes. Do you have any new arrivals today?" I casually said as I acted like I didn't know anyone there.
"Yes, wait here."A long raven haired boy with emerald eyes approached me.
"Hey, there good looking. Come here often?" He asked casually as he leaned on the counter just next to me.
"Well, yeah. I used to." I answered then he suddenly put his arm around me.
"Why don't you come to my shop instead?" He said smoothly and I laughed.
"Duke, you are such an idiot." I said as I took off the shades.
"Do I know you?" Duke asked with wide eyes.
"She's probably some girl you used to hit on, Duke." I heard Tristan's voice said as he approached.
I ran to him and hugged him to his confusion.
"Tristan!!! I missed you!!! Where's Joey? Serenity? Yugi? Tea?" I asked him.
"A-ah, miss, I-I don't think I know you." He said hesitantly as he blush.
I backed away and pouted.
"I've been gone for only… What? 5 months?!? And you don't know me?!?" I shouted.
"Ash, hey! You've grown!" I heard Tea's voice say before a pair of arms came and crushed me.
"ASH?!?" Tristan and Duke gasped as I choked and Tea loosened her grip.
"Hey, Tea. Yeah, thank for the 'Welcome' Tristan and Duke." I said sarcastically as Tea let me go.
"I'm glad to see you, Ash." I heard Yugi said and I turned to him instantly.
"Hey, Yugi! How are ya all?" I asked.
"We're all fine." Yugi answered as I was tackled suddenly by Joey who ran in the instant he saw me.
"ASH-CHIBI!!!" Joey shouted as I laughed at his sudden reaction.
"Hey, Joey! Hi, Serenity." I said as I saw Serenity that was now standing next to Tea.
"Hi, Ash." Serenity said with a smile.
"Oi, Ash-chibi, what are you doing here anyway? We thought you were only coming on Winter break." Joey reasoned.
"Well, about that. I'm taking a break now and going back during Winter break instead." I answered.
"Huh? Why is that?" Bakura asked as he entered after over hearing the conversation.
"B-because… Um… Ah…" I stammered then laughed.
"Hime-sama needs to prevent the Shadow Games to start until those 'kids' are ready." Buster answered.
