Cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing, is just a grain of sand...

Olivia's heart was pounding heavily against her chest each time she walked and the fear she felt was taking over her whole body. It wasn't fear of Lewis but fear of losing her son. With each step she took her body trembled and when her phone went off in her pocket she nearly jumped at her skin.

"Olivia."

"Liv, where in the hell are you at?" Brian demanded to know. His mother had called him not too long ago and explained to him that Olivia had left without a word.

"Lewis took Cameron to get to me," Olivia whispered as she leaned against a nearby building, "if I go he will let Cameron free."

"Liv, don't do this," Brian pleaded. He was in the car with Nick, tracking the signal from her cell phone as they were speaking. "Just tell me where you are. Tell me where Lewis is and Nick and I can handle it."

Olivia shook her head and took in a deep breath, "he's probably so scared," she spoke as her lip quivered, "and it's my fault."

"Liv," Brian said with his voice calmed several notches, "this is not your fault. You have to believe that. Just please, tell me where you are. Let Nick and I get Cameron and you go home and keep our other baby out of harm's way."

Olivia sniffed. She hadn't realized that while trying to save one child she was putting another in danger. She wished this was some terrible nightmare and at any moment she would wake up and have Cameron run into her arms asking if they could watch Iron Man for the umpteenth time. "Okay," she said in a defeated tone. She gave Brian the address of the warehouse and then hung up, waiting for him to meet her at the spot she had told him. Minutes slowly ticked by and suddenly Olivia heard a loud crash coming from inside the building. She jumped five feet in the air as her breath hitched and she drew her gun. Now she knew her little boy was in there and she didn't have time to wait. She was going in.

In the squad car, Nick had the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor with his siren wailing in the night. They were five minutes out but both men knew that anything could happen in five minutes. When they pulled up to the spot where they were told Olivia was waiting, they turned off the car and climbed out.

"Son of bitch," Brian yelled through gritted teeth, "she went in!"

Inside the warehouse, Olivia had her gun drawn in front of her while she squinted her eyes trying to see her surroundings. She was too worried about saving Cameron to even care about Lewis being there as well. "Cameron!" she called, "Cam, it's Mommy!" She stopped in her tracks as she heard shuffling feet. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up and her breaths were hard and choppy. Suddenly something was wrapped around her legs, keeping her from moving. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she realized how silly was for going in alone.

"Mommy," Cameron whispered, "can we please get out of here?"

Olivia looked down and swallowed what felt like a rock. Cameron had his arms wrapped around her legs in a hug. Olivia nodded and reached for his hand before turning around and running as fast as she could with her pregnant belly to the exit.

"Liv!" Brian had saw her run out with his little man by her side and he couldn't have felt more relieved. "Are you okay?"

"Yes," she nodded out of breath, "I didn't see him. I got Cameron and I ran out."

"Daddy!" Cameron ran into Brian and gave him a huge hug, happy to see his parents again.

"Cassidy," Nick said on the down-low as he saw a figure moving inside of the building. "He's there. We have to go in."

Brian nodded and gave Cameron one last squeeze before handing him over to Olivia and telling them both to wait in the car. Once they were safe and out of the cold nighttime air, Olivia pulled Cameron close to her. She took in his scent as more tears started spilling down her face. "I missed you so much," she whispered, "so, so much."

"Mommy, the man said you were his friend and that I had to go with him because you said so."

Olivia shook her adamantly, "he lied," she informed her inquiring three year old, "he lied. He's a very bad man and nothing he said was the truth."

"He wouldn't let me have any goldfish," Cameron pouted as he pulled away from Olivia and crossed his arms over his chest.

Olivia forced a smile, "when we get home you can have all of the goldfish you want," she promised.

Cameron's face lit up into a smile as he snuggled into Olivia's side in the backseat. She began running her fingers through his hair, sending several prayers of thanks into the sky.

"Mommy?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm sleepy."

"Close your eyes," Olivia urged him softly, "I'll be right here. I'm not going to let anything happen to you." It wasn't long after that when she heard quite childlike snores. She smiled softly and then let out the breath she hadn't known how long she had been holding. Both of her little ones were safe now and all she needed was for Brian to walk out and tell her that William Lewis was a dead man. Except things never worked out that perfectly...

When Olivia saw Brian and Nick walk out she could tell that Brian had been hurt. He was limping and Olivia carefully put Cameron into a sleeping position so she could get out and check on him. "What happened?"

"I'm fine," Brian assured as he held up a hand to ward her off, "it's just a twist. It's nothing. How's Cameron?"

"He's asleep," she informed him, "he doesn't have a scratch on him. He said he wanted goldfish."

Brian smiled. That was definitely his kid.

"Did you kill him?" Olivia asked as she looked back and forth from Brian to Nick.

"We tried," Nick admitted, "he jumped out of the top floor into the water. We looked but we never saw him get out."

"He's probably dead," Brian assured her, "we don't have to worry about him anymore. We need to get you home though. You haven't slept in two days."

Olivia followed the guys back to the car and climbed in, ready to get back home and have her family at her side. She was ready to crawl into her inviting bed and pull the covers around her, knowing her son was safe in his room. She was going to invest in an alarm system and possibly bolting Cameron's windows closed. She was worried that he was still alive. However, she had learned once that she couldn't let him control her life and she was damned if she would go back to that everyday fear.

"You okay?" Brian asked as he saw her face in the rear-view mirror.

"My family's safe again so yes," she smiled, "I'm okay." As she leaned back against the seat she realized just how tired she was. Her back had that all familiar ache to it and her feet were throbbing but it was all worth it.

P.S. The story isn't over yet... (but on a happy note Lewis isn't coming back.. in my story anyway.)
