Good News and Bad News... The Good News is that you have a new chapter for the story after the really really really long wait... (about a year, right?). The Bad News is that my laptop... bit the dust, so to speak, and ALL, I mean all, of my information regarding the story is lost. So... some of you are going to hate me with every fiber of your being...but I do not have a good chunk of your OCs... I'm so sorry...I hope... you don't hate me. ALSO, I edited the last chapter so you might want to read that again just so you don't get confused or anything. Anyway, without further ado, I bring you the really really really long awaited chapter of...
Tempest
Kitty sighed as she got up from the table and took her tray to the garbage bins. Throwing the plastic tray in, she made her way to her room on an empty stomach. The "food", as Kitty liked to imagine it, wasn't even close to being considered good. It made dogs and flies cry in pain. She wasn't even sure if the FDA approved it... if they approved that type of stuff.
The Girl's Dorms, weren't spectacular, but they were better than the boys'. They were more spacious, more clean, and for some reason, the over-killing amount of pink was nostalgic. As it was early, she was quite certain everyone would stay in the Food Hall for Pudding Night. So when she'd opened the door, she was surprised to see a group of girls already inside. The girls froze and stared at her, an awkward silence falling upon the room.
"Uh...hellooo..." Kitty managed to say.
"What's sup?" She had freckles and pale skin. Her frizzy dark reddish brown hair was french braided to the side. "I'm Volatility" A girl said. The other girls shifted uncomfortably. If Kitty had a knife, she could cut the tension. Into thick pieces if she really wanted to.
Emma parked her expensive car in front of an massive building. Ororo, Remy, and Warren stared in awe at the building that seemingly made Professor Xavier's estate seem like a playground. It was a nice ginormous cottage home situated in the middle of a lush large section of land.
The four got out of the car and stared at the building some more.
"I hate filthy rich people" Gambit said. Emma rolled her eyes and walked towards the double doors, unlocking them with her key.
"Well, are you just going to stand there and gawk at my fortune?"
"It's not bad" Warren said. "I mean, it could use a little bit of updating but other than that... you're good." The winged-man had suddenly become a pro at architecture from Gambit's point of view. He walked towards the door with Tempest and Gambit slowly following form behind.
"I like a man who knows what he's doing" Emma winked at the blond as he walked inside.
"I like a woman who knows what she likes"
Gambit raised an eyebrow and looked at Tempest. She shrugged and followed the two blondes into the house.
Inside, was more jaw-dropping than outside. Gambit was a kid in a candy store. The velvet carpets were soft and silky, more suited to be something on your beds, not the floor. The walls were a polished and shined with the light, appearing as substitute mirrors. Everything and anything in the house seemed like it costed a heavy penny, even the door knobs.
"This will be our Head Quarters" Emma said.
"Nice" Ororo said. "But you wouldn't happen to have a Danger Room by any chance, would you?"
"Actually, it's still in the process of being built. You can do a lot more with this version. Guaranteed."
"Well, I don't know about you people, but I'm beat. A long ride from Louisiana to Massachusetts isn't anything to laugh about."
"I'll show you to your rooms then." Emma said, leading the way down a hall.
"Great" Angel chimed. "I could use some rest as well"
Tempest looked around the entrance room a bit more. She was starting to like this Emma person. If not for her character, than for her money and resources.
Lance sat across from "Smokey" at a table in the Food Hall eating pudding. Next to "Smokey" was a slightly skinny teen with dark hair kept in a choppy hairstyle. His eyes were a mossy green color, emphasizing his calm authoritative demeanor.
"So, what is it Smokescreen?" Lance said, barely above a whisper. He couldn't risk everyone else finding out about anything. Riots weren't the best thing in a mutant camp, especially when they had the power to electrocute everyone at the same time. He was glad he found someone reliable in the camp. From the second they both talked, he was sure he could trust him. Smokescreen...Zachariah Traveston. If it wasn't looked down upon, he would call him by his first name, but that showed a sign of weakness. Besides, as long as they were in camps, they didn't have a life outside, therefore, their name was useless. As long as they were in camps, they were powerless.
Smokescreen looked at the teen sitting next to him. "Do you wanna tell him, Viral, or should I?"
"You can tell him. I'm good" Viral said, taking Smokescreen's pudding and helping himself.
"Future received another vision."
"Future?" Lance said. Future was another mutant Lance could trust. Most deemed him crazy because he claimed to see the future, but Lance knew the kid's potential. The collars prevented him from constantly seeing the future, but in random intervals, he was blessed or cursed with a vision. Lately, he hadn't been able to see anything for a few months, which was strange altogether, so when Smokescreen continued, he was all ears.
"Yeah. Apparently, soon, there was going to be..." Smokescreen trailed off and looked around.
"Be..." Lance hummed.
"A Prison Break" Viral finished, resuming back to Smoke's pudding.
Lance looked shocked. And not the happy shock or the confusion shock, but the guilty shock. And he hated that Smoke saw it right away.
"What is it, Rockslide?" Rockslide was the new name Lance chose so no one could link him to his past life. It was strange, getting a new name.
"I wasn't going to tell you guys 'til the last minute, but I guess I have no choice. You know the new girl, Kitty?"
"You mean your girlfriend" Smoke chimed.
"Wait! You have a girlfriend!? Jeez...I can't believe you got one before me..."
"Shut up, Viral. Anyway, she said a friend of hers was going to cause a Prison Break. How, I do not know."
"That's...That's awesome!" Viral shouted.
"BUT! You can't tell anyone. Anyone at all."
"But, why?" Viral asked, coming down from his excitement.
"This has to remain a secret. On the lockdown. You got it?
"Yeaaaahhh. I got it" Viral mumbled. He finished off the remains of Smoke's pudding, then got up to go throw it away.
"When is it?" Smokescreen asked.
"About three day's time."
"And... what else are you telling us?"
"I...I want you two to go with her."
"W-wait! What?"
"I... I have to do some stuff and if you guys come with, you'll die. I want you to protect her... for me."
"Dude. We can't do that. That's...that's just wrong."
"I'm not giving you a choice."
Just then, Commander Sir's voice cut them off with the intercom. "Attention you inhuman freaks. Grub time is over. Head back to your rooms. Anyone out of their rooms after 11 will be dealt with painfully and swiftly. Thank you."
Lance and Smokescreen stared at each other until Viral came over and snapped them out of it.
"Dudes. Let's go. You heard the chick."
Kitty laid in her top bunk thinking about her strange roommates. They were strange indeed, but again, they were mutants.
The one that spoke up first. Volatility. Her reddish brown hair and her big almond shaped eyes were her facial features. Apparently the girl was tinker, someone who put things together and make them go boom! Her childhood seemed... kinda sad and empty. The girl had been at the camp for around 2 months.
Next there was the young girl Flashback. She had pretty black wavy shoulder-length hair and soft brown eyes. She was slightly chubby, but that was understandable with her young age. Flashback could see the past and had been at the camp for one week. Poor girl, Kitty thought. No one deserved to have their childhood ruined with the selfishness of people nowadays.
Then there was the mysterious Alley Cat, a girl who resembled a cat in different ways. Her ears were pointed, she had a tail, her sharp nails in her fingers and toes were retractable, and teeth were sharp, perfect for tearing skills were enhanced agility, balance, jaw strength, flexibility, climbing, senses, strength, and speed. She had night vision and was very durable, being able to take a lot more pain than the average human. Kitty joked about her having nine lives, to which Alley Cat replied that she had seven left. The older girl didn't know if she was joking or not. She had blonde hair and pulled up into a ballerina bun at the back of her neck, yellow-green eyes, a lanky build, and freckles on her cheek. Like Flashback, she was young, being only 13, and had been at the camp for 4 months.
The next girl was a 14 year old, Egyptian-American teen with the ability to create gold energy constructs. She had thick dark brown curly hair that went about 3 inches past her shoulders with 1 1/2 inches of her tips dyed a light gold color. Her eyes were a deep dark chocolate brown, amplifying her smooth mocha colored skin. She had somewhat of a runner's build, with few bits of muscle here and there. On the top of her hands were two small ankh tattoos. Guardian had been at the camps for 5 months and she'd only recently came to America.
The last girl, Hush, was an extraordinary 16 year old who'd suffered at the camp for two long years. Kitty didn't mean to judge, but her outrageous frizzy dark brown hair was extremely... unnecessary. She had almond shaped light honey brown eyes and was more on the curvy side. Kitty mentally insisted that she looked better at her age. Hush had a scar going downwards on her right eye, one following her left jaw line, and another cutting across the right side of her lips. Alley Cat said Hush was an angel, but Kitty was thrown into another world when the frizzy-haired girl sprouted wings that reminded her of an angel...except hers were black with white tips. And like an angel, coincidentally, Hush could heal others or exchange their state of being for her good health (or vice versa). So, theoretically speaking, as Kitty liked to seem smart, Hush only switched injuries with the person. It was an complicated idea to get her mind around, but then again, she could just phase through it. She'd laughed at that joke.
In the morning, Kitty would tell these girls about her plan. She was certain they would accept. These girls needed something Kitty and her crew could provide, a home and family. Before falling asleep, she'd wondered about Kurt. This was the first night that could sleep in peace instead of fear. In all honesty, this was the first time she was excited since her time as a X-Men. And with that, she drifted off...
Bradley Royce hadn't gotten used to sleeping outside of his California King sized bed so you could imagine waking up all bruised and beat up on hard stone floor. To say the least, he was grumpy, and that was an understatement. Clearing the coal out of his eyes, he slowly sat up, adjusting to the dim lighting in the cell. His memory flashed, trying to recall the events that led up to him being here. Lizard dude, fight, winning, electrocution. That was right! He had won the fight against that lizard dude. Taking boxing was really a blessing after all.
"Uh...hi there" Nightcrawler said, almost blending in with the shadows in the corner. This startled Bradley, causing him to jump back and assume a boxer form.
"Woah! Woah there!" Kurt said, holding up his hands in defense and slowly standing up. "I'm not here to harm you kid."
"Kid? You don't look much older than me." Bradley spat, still in form.
"That can be adjusted" Nightcrawler said looking at his watch.
"What-"
"Anyway. You look like a bright kid. How'd you get in here?"
Sighing, Bradley gave up. This kid was a weirdo alright. "I got in a fight. So much for first days, huh?"
"You too? Yesterday was my first day!"
"What'd you do?" This was weird for Bradley. His whole life, the "friends" he talked to only seemed fake and the only things they did was throw parties and brag about stuff their families did or stuff they owned. But this conversation was different. It was genuine.
"I, uh, um, I made fun of Commander Sir"
"Who's that? Is he the man in charge? If so, I wanna speak to him because I'm sure my rights are being violated as a civilian of the United States"
Nightcrawler laughed.
"What is it? I'm not joking here" Bradley said, frowning. If this stranger was to trying to infuriate him, he was take 'em out with a single blow to the face.
"No... it's just that, Commander Sir isn't a he or a him. Commander Sir is of the female gender."
"Oh... Her childhood must've sucked."
"That's what I was thinking!" Nightcrawler shouted. "Hey?"
"What?" Bradley asked, putting his face on the metal bars.
"Wanna join my team if I help you escape?"
"What? Escape?! We can escape! Wait... you're not some crime lord or anything like that, are you?" Bradley asked. Kurt almost started laughing again.
"No. Have you heard of the X-Men. We sorta stopped the end of the world."
"Yeah, I've heard of you. Terrorists. Vilgilantes. Criminals. Wen't extinct about a year ago."
"Vhat! Ve're not any of those. Ve're heroes! Ve saved lifes."
"Yes... I bet you are... and the 'W' makes a wuh sound not a vuh sound."
"Sorry. Sometimes I revert back to my original accent. So how 'bout it?"
"Well let's see. I have no other place to go and I don't look good in this jumpsuit. So, I'll join."
"Sweet! I wonder how many Kitty has recruited!"
"Who's Kitty?"
"Oh, just another member of the X-Men."
"Sure... got any stories to past the time?" Bradley said, sitting down on the hard floor.
"Plenty!"
"Great."
"Tomorrow's the day" Tempest would say to herself ever so often. She had settled in the room Emma assigned her and realized she had forgotten her luggage at the mansion. It was probably long gone by now with that tornado she summoned. Thoughts of life in Africa began flooding back. Her baby...her husband...her friends... they all probably hated her by now.
"I'm sure they don't hate you." Emma Frost said, standing in the doorway.
Tempest stood up. "I wasn't aware I said something."
"You didn't."
"And I wasn't aware that I gave you permission to read my thoughts."
"Well, when the forecast predicted sunny skies, I was a bit shocked to see gloomy gray storm clouds approaching." Emma said, pointing to the window.
Ororo walked over and sighed. "Sorry...I'm...it's just..."
"You don't have to explain a thing, Ororo. I understand." The clouds dispersed and the sun shined again.
"Are you ready?" Tempest asked, watching the birds soar in the air.
"For what?"
"The Perfect Storm."
