You guys got to the 5 reviews! Thank you so much!

Warning: This chapter is mostly fluff and I don't feel too proud of it, but I wanted to get another chapter up quick. And its short. Really short. Like, 1200 short. Sorry! What do you guys prefer on this story? Short and quick or long and slower?

Disclaimer: Me no own Maximum Ride.

Read on!

"My wings hurt…," I moaned, and noticing how weird it was to say "my wings". The shock from yesterday still hadn't really registered itself in my brain yet.

Iggy just chuckled. "Do not fear, my young chick, it will all be over soon!"

Since my parents were away, I allowed Fang, Iggy, and Nudge to all stay over. We all slept in the living room. Angel, my younger sister, was here too, just coming back from a playdate from yesterday.

"Hey Max!" Angel greeted coming down the stairs. Fang, Iggy, and Nudge all snapped their heads towards my sister.

"AWWW! She's so cute! Who is she? How old is she? What's her name? She looks like an angel! Can I call you Angel?" Nudge nearly shrieked.

Angel just giggled. "My name IS Angel! I'm Max's sister, and I'm seven years old!"

All three guests snapped their heads towards me and asked simultaneously. "Sister?"

"Sister…" I confirmed, suddenly wondering about my blood relations to Angel. If my parents weren't Avians.. did that mean Angel isn't either?

"Don't worry Max, I'm not related to Jeb. I'm just like you! See? Not sure why your wings hatched so late though…" Angel happily explained, as if she read my mind, opening her pure-white WINGS.

Everyone but Iggy (because he was blind, of course) gawked.

"Uhh… Max? You don't have any other siblings… do you?" Fang asked slowly, still eyeing Angel's wings.

"Aww, dang it, what just happened? I hate being blind… Is Angel an Avian too?" Iggy pouted.

"Uh huh… And no, no other siblings.." I trailed off, eyes still wide open.

"Well, Max, you certainly have an interesting little family here… And we need to go to school, if you have forgotten. No snow day today!" Nudge said, starting to change into some of my clothes. "Geez, do you have ANY sort of fashion sense Max?"

After dropping Angel off at her elementary school the four of us headed to our own school. I still felt nervous.

My whole life I had lived thinking I was human, normal, just like everyone else.

And then wham! 'Hey Max! You aren't like everyone else! You're a bird!' the universe seemed to mock. This certainly changed my entire perspective on the world. As I looked at the people I passed by, I felt a feeling of separation. I wasn't like them, I was different.

"Heyyy Fang!" a shrill voice called out. Some red-head came strutting over to Fang and Iggy. "Hey Igss."

Nudge rolled her eyes, and I gave her a look of questioning. She shook her head and mouthed 'later'.

"Hi Lissa," both Fang and Iggy said in monotone voices.

"So, Fang, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my pool party this Saturday. My Daddy's hosting," Lissa said, trying to feign a look of innocence and shyness by biting her bottom lip. I nearly burst out laughing.

"Uh, its winter," Fang said, raising an eyebrow.

"I'll just get Daddy to buy me an indoor pool!" Lissa waved off, as if it was the most simplest thing in the world. "So will you come?"

"Sorry Lissa, no."

Lissa placed a perfectly manicured hand onto Fang's arm, trailing down with her claw-like finger tips. "Please?" she purred, before leaning towards him as if she was about to kiss him.

All of a sudden, I felt jealous and angered. I narrowed my eyes down at her and stepped between her and Fang. "He said no! Back off!" I nearly yelled. Lissa's eyes widened and suddenly she looked terrified.

"Ok. I'm sorry you can't come Fang. Maybe next time!" Lissa hurried off, glancing behind her shoulder at us and her heels clicked away.

I was confused. I turned towards Fang, Iggy, and Nudge. "What was that about?" I asked.

Fang's lips were pressed into a tight line. "Your eyes, Max. They're yellow. You practically freaked her out."

"You really need to be careful to make sure that you don't trigger your eyes in front of normal humans. That means not getting angry, and not having any sort of '7 minutes in heaven', ok?" Nudge said seriously. Fang and Iggy nodded.

"Why do I have to have my life controlled like this?! What, do I have to show no emotions to become 'normal'? And what do you mean normal? If you're not human, does that mean you are a freak?! This is insanity! I am a person of freedom, and this is not freedom!" I yelled at her, feeling my eyes contract as they became yellow again. I then stormed off in the opposite direction, leaving a confused Nudge and Iggy, and a pissed off Fang. Even his eyes were starting to yellow.

I sat in a tree nearby the highschool, my knees gathered into my chest.

I regretted lashing out at Nudge like that. She was only trying to help me. What was wrong with me?

Angrily, I punched the trunk of the tree hard.

OUCH! I watched as blood started to seep out of my bruised knuckles.

Note to self; don't punch inanimate objects. It hurts.

All of a sudden, I looked down and saw a dark figure climbing up the tree. Nudge.

"Look, Nudge, I'm really sor-" I started when she finally arrived at the same height as me, but she cut me off.

"No, look Max, I'm sorry. I should understand better that this stuff is all completely new to you. It's scary and sudden, and I shouldn't expect you just to accept it all and handle it perfectly. You are going to have rough paths and make mistakes, but I promise I will help you. We will all help you. We're a flock," Nudge winked.

I sighed, before hugging Nudge tight. "Thanks. But I'm sorry too. I should have realized that you were just trying to help me."

"It's ok, I probably would have done the same," Nudge giggled.

I just smiled at her. What did I do to deserve such amazing people?

"So, Max. I have a question..." Nudge started, grinning evilly at me. Never mind, Reader, forget what I said about knowing such amazing people.

"Yeah?"

"Since when were you so protective of Fang? I mean… that looked like some serious kick-ass jealousy back there…" Nudge said, now fully smirking. I gaped at her.

"Jealousy, my ass! I just really don't like Lissa," I explained stiffly, crossing my arms.

"In other words, you don't like Lissa because you're jealous of her," Nudge suggested, raising an eyebrow at me knowingly.

"I'm not jealous of her! She's just a stupid, red-headed, bimbo, and that's why I hate her," I protested, going along with the conversation.

"Right… And it's not because she tried to rape Fang who you so desperately love?" Nudge asked innocently. I shoved her playfully. Wow we have good balance! Remember, Reader, all of this happened on some thin tree branches.

"I don't like Fang! I don't even know him that well!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.

"Ok. I totally believe you Max," Nudge stated sarcastically as we made our way back down the trunk to head back to our classes.

"Shut up."

And that's the end of this chapter! Real action coming up soon. Now I want at least five more reviews. More would be awesome, though. If something crazy, like 15-20 reviews happen on one chapter, expect an update sometime in the next hour! Weekdays included. ;D

Is it snowing where you guys are? Cause it is here. Schools been snowed out! Lets hope for tomorrow as well.

Feel free to ask questions.
