Chapter 18: Birds of a Feather
Bialya March 2nd 0416 hours UTC
The ORDER headquarters was busy, during both day and night. While ORDER operations were being operated all over the world, Sylas made sure to keep his top priorities in check. While the Terror Titans were training to take down the Team, Sylas had Striker and Barriss, as well as Slick, Cad Bane and Xever look with him at the recent projects that needed to be taken care of. As the five were being briefed, Alakshmi came out from the hallways and into the room. All of the ORDER operatives looked behind them to see Alakshmi trying to calm herself down.
"I came to report in." Syrena stated. Sylas looked to her with amusement as the rest of his group followed him. "Really, what is there to report?" he asked. Alakshmi gritted her teeth and sighed. "I've got some new information for you." She informed. Sylas raised an eyebrow as he neared her and asked, "What would that be?" Alakshmi looked down to her feet meekly before going on. "There's a new Jedi." She stated. Barriss looked confusingly as Sylas' eyes widened. "What?" he asked as if he didn't hear clearly. Syrena threw her arm around and scoffed. "She's some Asian-looking brunette with Jedi attire, and by the looks of her, it seems she's a Padawan like Ahsoka." Syrena reported.
Barriss' eyes widened with shock, as she knew who Alakshmi was referring to. "Serra Keto." She exclaimed. Sylas looked even more surprised as he nodded in disagreement. "That's wrong, because she's known as Serra Keto Shan. Messiah won't be pleased." He stated. Black Widow looked to him and gaped. "She's a Shan?" she asked. Sylas nodded as Barriss scoffed. "Another Jedi has joined the Team, a Jedi who's better than Ahsoka in any way." Black Widow retorted. Sylas nodded and looked to the other generals of his army. "What do you know of the Shan?" he asked. Striker sighed and walked up. "She attacked me when I was stealing the lightsabers from the Jedi Temple, and she's also the reason I failed to kill Iris West-Allen." Victor explained. Alakshmi groaned and walked up. "You never told us?!" she demanded. The rest of the generals stepped back as Alakshmi hyperventilated in anger. "She defeated me when I tried to take down the Martian and the magician! I could have been more prepared!" she yelled.
Sylas threw his hand out to them and yelled, "Enough!" Both Striker and Syrena were sent back as Sylas panted. "There's been a change in plans. We shall reveal ourselves to the world and draw out the Jedi." He stated. Everyone nodded as he looked to Xever and Slick. "I want the rest of my generals up here effective immediately." He ordered. The two nodded as they ran into the halls. "ORDER will soon rule over all, no matter what it takes." He retorted. "Ahsoka Tano and Serra Shan will die, I assure you all." Sylas added on sinisterly. The top generals nodded as Sylas walked out of the room. "Our meeting is adjourned." He stated before finally departing from the room.
Mount Justice 1116 hours EST
Ever since the night that Syrena attacked the Team and Serra's squad showed up, the Team was starting to have doubts. Ahsoka insisted that they take her old friends to Mount Justice, in which they all agreed. When they arrived late that night, Batman was waiting for them. He wasn't please to see Serra, Saw and Jaybo at first, but had to accept them. Black Canary and Batman stood beside the Team as Ahsoka and Serra stood with each other happily. Aqualad and M'gann watched them closely as the rest of the Team just watched with angst and jealousy.
Ahsoka smiled as she looked to Serra. "It's been such a long time." Ahsoka stated. The Team looked at the two with confusion as Saw and Jaybo stood in another corner of the room and watched as well. "You were the only Jedi I could trust back then." The Ex-Jedi went on. Serra smiled as she held up one of her lightsaber hilts. "We both constructed this very hilt when we were still Younglings. I vouched for the Jedi Council to take you back after you were taken into the Republic Holding Facility and also during the trial." Serra reminded the Togrutan. Ahsoka looked down meekly as Serra tapped her on the shoulder. "Are you mad at me?" she asked teasingly.
Ahsoka sighed and looked up to her. "I should have never befriended Barriss. I should have never fallen for her trap." Ahsoka explained sadly. Serra looked to her with a smirk on her face. "Stop beating yourself up, Ahsoka." She curtly demanded. The two chuckled as the Team just straightened themselves up. "We're together now, and we have a chance of getting you back to the Jedi. They're truly sorry for accusing you of the crimes, and we all want you back with us." Serra remarked. Ahsoka sighed and smiled. "Lux told me about that, but now that I think about it, I just… might go back to the Jedi Order, I mean it's the important thing." Ahsoka replied. Serra smiled as Ahsoka went on. "And with the thirteen of us, I'm sure we can make it happen." The Togrutan added on.
Serra's face suddenly lessened as she looked back to Ahsoka with an eyebrow raised. "The thirteen of us?" she repeated. Ahsoka grinned and smiled as Serra looked over to the eight members of the Team. "Are you sure about these kids, Ahsoka?" she asked, causing all of the Team to tense up. "I mean, they're the ones who took you and are working for the ORDER!" she stated out loud, purposely for the Team to hear. Ahsoka nodded her head in disagreement as she smiled to Serra with reassurance. "No, they found me after I saved them, and I've learned to trust the Team, as well as some of the Justice League, and I'm sure that I can trust them, they're good kids." Ahsoka replied. The Team smiled at the way Ahsoka backed them up, but Serra just chuckled doubtfully. "They can be the nicest kids in this Lost Galaxy, but we need real fighters for this job." She retorted.
At that moment, Robin finally lost it. He walked up to the Jedi Padawan, followed by the rest of the Team and scoffed. "We are real fighters." Dick exclaimed. Ahsoka gestured her hand from the Serra to the Team. "Serra, this is Aqualad aka Kaldur'ahm, Robin, Kid Flash aka Wally West, Superboy alias Connor Kent, Miss Martian aka M'gann Morse, Artemis whose name stands out, Zatanna whose name also stands out, and Rocket, also known as Raquel Ervin." Ahsoka introduced as the Team nodded their heads and waved respectively at the sounds of their names. M'gann, as well as Artemis and Zatanna all felt the back of their heads as M'gann stepped up and smiled and waved. "Ahsoka offered us a spot in the Jedi Order." She stated. Ahsoka nodded and looked from the Team to Serra. Serra stood in disbelief as she turned from the Team to Ahsoka. "You did what?!" she asked, spreading her arms out. Ahsoka scoffed and looked to Serra. "Well, the Team has performed excellently in battle, against Cad Bane, Barriss, assassins, criminals and organizations, so they deserve a spot with me." Ahsoka retorted. The Team turned their attention to Ahsoka and smiled, but Serra ignored them and continued to listen to what Ahsoka had to say. "And besides, would you rather want the traitor to come back to the Jedi?" she questioned. Serra shook her head in disbelief. "No, but…" Serra started out in protest as she gestured her hand to the entire Team. Before she could go on, Artemis stepped up. "But what, are you jealous?" she asked snippily.
Serra looked first to the archer and then to the entire Team as a whole. Connor scoffed as the Jedi looked at the Team from top to bottom. The rest of the Team started to look at them as well before Serra chuckled. "Alright… kids… if you want to be with the Jedi, show me what you've got." She challenged. Wally looked aside annoyingly as Aqualad stepped up. "Forgive me, but I do not quite understand." The Atlantean stated. Serra chuckled as she leaned in closer to Aqualad's face. "If you want to fight alongside the Jedi… show me you deserve it." Serra taunted in a slow voice as if the Team didn't hear her well enough. M'gann looked to Ahsoka, who just smiled to them before the Team looked back to Serra. "Come on, come on." She pressured, stepping back and unsheathing her lightsaber hilts and throwing them aside. "Come on, just a round or two, with all of you." She added on challengingly. "No powers, no weapons, just fighting skills." Serra explained as the Team just looked to her with confusion. "That is, if you've got any." She quipped snippily. Zatanna looked to Ahsoka for help, but Ahsoka just shrugged and stepped back. Zatanna smirked as Wally grinned at the Padawan. "Alright, you're on." He proclaimed. Serra shook her hips and smirked. "Ooh." She shivered with sarcasm, feeling like she would enjoy this.
All the Team got into fighting stances as Serra stood in her own. Black Canary stood with Ahsoka and craned her neck towards Serra. "What do you know about her fighting skills?" she asked. Ahsoka scoffed and chuckled. "That's something you'll just have to see in order to believe." She quipped. At that moment, Robin ran up and performed an overhead kick, in which Serra easily dodged. The Boy Wonder kicked again as Serra went in and then jabbed her hand at him. The Boy Wonder threw her off and attempted to jab the Jedi, but Serra went aside and flipped him over. Robin fell to the ground with a grunt as Aqualad ran up next. He jumped into the air and performed a flying roundhouse kick, but Serra ducked from the attack and jumped over a low roundhouse kick from him. Serra did an overhead punch as Aqualad ducked and twirled into the air to dodge before jumping back into the air to counterattack her. Serra kicked at the same time, and the two landed a distance away from each other. Serra charged up and elbowed him, but Kaldur sent a quick jab at her head. Serra dodged and grabbed Kaldur's fist when he attempted to punch again, but just like Robin, he was flipped over and onto the ground. Serra picked her up and then twirled him into the air, sending him to the ground once again.
Kid Flash then ran in and the two flipped over and started to attack. Kid Flash attempted many punches and kicks, but Serra chuckled and dodged them all. As Wally then attacked with twin punches, Serra grabbed his arms and spread them apart, much to the speedster's pain. She then punched Wally in the belt and threw him into the wall, sending him out of the ring. Connor then stepped up and started to circle around Serra. Serra then walked up to Connor and threw her fist at her, in which the Boy of Steel blocked. The female Jedi smirked as she punched Connor across the face. Connor growled and punched her in the chest, but he missed as Serra jumped and kicked him. Serra then jabbed and punched at Connor, but he just jumped up into the air and land behind her. Serra turned around and then landed a punch to his chest. She jumped into the air again and performed a bicycle kick, only for Connor to dodge. Serra took this opportunity to run up to him and punch him in the chest, causing him to kneel downwards as Serra then kicked him away. Connor was sent to the ground as Miss Martian took the plate.
Serra ducked as M'gann stood on top of Wally to perform a roundhouse kick, followed by M'gann jumping down and kicking to her side, only for Serra to block it and grab her foot. Megan then dodged a right hook from Serra, in which a right swing came after. The two exchanged punches with one another until the two both grabbed each other's arms. They twirled with one another before they began to send punches at each other. M'gann punched to her very best, but Serra was able to outmatch her as she kneed M'gann in the chest before punching her to the ground. M'gann groaned as she looked up to Serra, who just scoffed as she walked back. Artemis then jumped over all of the fallen Team members and they both kicked each other in the air, clashing legs. Artemis attempted twin overhead swings, but Serra ducked and jumped up to attack again. Serra jumped into the air to perform a bicycle kick, but Artemis dodged it and swung her right arm downwards. Serra threw her off only to meet the archer's left swing. Serra attacked swiftly as Artemis dodged aggressively, and she soon twirled Serra into the air. The two resumed their fighting stances as Serra struck with two lower kicks, followed by Artemis attacking with a high roundhouse kick and a downward kick. Serra struck with a high overhead roundhouse kick of her own while Artemis ducked. As she got up, Serra performed another one of her roundhouse kicks, sending Artemis to the ground.
Zatanna walked up calmly and attacked Serra with a left swing. Serra blocked her attack and then attacked with her right hand, clashing with Zatanna's left. Zatanna then struck with a punch followed by a swirling punch from her right fist. Before the mage could even strike at her with her left fist, Serra blocked it followed by Zatanna attacking with a right hook, which Serra blocked as well with her two hands. Serra then lunged at Zatanna, but the mage grabbed her fist and threw her off before turning and kicking at her. Serra just twirled into the air to dodge as Zatanna twirled to attack. Zatanna then performed a low roundhouse kick, only for Serra to backflip and counter with another low roundhouse kick as Zatanna struck with a high jump kick. The two jumped into the air and attacked each other with kicks before Zatanna swept her feet, only for Serra to jump and hang down from the ceiling lamp. Black Canary stood in awe as Serra grabbed Zatanna's arms and threw the mage to the ground. Serra jumped down as Raquel ran in to attack. She twirled in the air before performing a low roundhouse kick. Serra twirled into the air to dodge this and then ran towards Ervin to attack. Raquel twirled into the air as Serra backflipped to kick Raquel right in the chest, sending her trailing back and out of the ring.
Serra clapped her hands with dissatisfaction, knowing that she defeated the Team full. Just then, there was a clapping noise from behind her. Serra chuckled and turned around to see Black Canary. "That was good work, but I'm next." Dinah stated. Serra placed her hands on her hips as she looked to Black Canary. "And what do you happen to be?" she asked. Black Canary smirked and got into a fighting stance. "I'm the Team's training instructor. You're not so bad, but I'll be the judge of your skills." Black Canary responded. Serra smirked as she got into a fighting stance. Ahsoka just looked at them and scoffed nervously. Dinah struck first with a feint, in which Serra stepped back. Black Canary did it two more times, all of which came out in failures as Serra chuckled. Finally, Dinah attacked with a series of punches, but Serra easily dodged them all before pushing Black Canary away. Dinah gasped as she was pushed back, but then smirked as she wiped her lip. Ahsoka watched with interest with Lux, Saw and Jaybo as Black Canary then went down low to roundhouse kick her, but Serra cartwheeled away with Dinah following in tandem. As Serra twirled into the air, Black Canary attempted to kick her, only for her to lose balance and fall. Serra chuckled as she walked forwards to gesture for her to get up. Black Canary roundhouse kicked the Jedi, but Serra jumped over it and went aside. Dinah got up and tried to land her foot down onto her, but Serra cartwheeled away once again as Black Canary then attempted a kick at her. Serra dodged and attempted to swing her left arm at her, but Dinah grabbed it and kicked at her knee, followed by the bird-themed heroine twirling her away. Serra backflipped in order to break her fall and looked to Dinah impressively.
"Well, what do you think?" Black Canary asked, placing her hands on her hips. Serra scoffed and wiped off the dirt on her clothing. "You're not too bad… for a civilian." She quipped. Black Canary smirked and got back into her fighting stance. "I'm the best fighter." She stated. Serra chuckled and charged at her again. "We'll see." She quipped again. With that, she kicked at Black Canary, in which Dinah blocked. Dinah then attempted to punch straight at her, but Serra blocked it and did it again after Black Canary tried a second time. Serra ducked an overhead roundhouse kick from Black Canary, as she was sent to the near edge of the training circle. Dinah gasped as she struggled to get her balance. The Team looked up in surprise to see Serra giggling at Black Canary. "Have you lost your balance?" she taunted, clicking her tongue. Dinah regained herself as she nodded her head no and got back into her fighting stance. As Black Canary tried to punch at Serra Keto, she missed as Serra ducked and went aside to kick Dinah, sending her spinning into the air and out of the training circle. The Team gasped at this. No one had ever beaten Black Canary in combat before!
Serra looked down at Black Canary as she struggled to get up. Serra then stepped out of the training circle, still chuckling at her victory. "You all still have a lot to learn in order to be real fighters." She stated. The Team got up and sighed in defeat as Black Canary struggled to get up. "Wait, wait, stop, I'm not done with you yet! We're still fighting!" Dinah stated persistently. Serra looked down and nodded her head in disagreement. "Come on, Black Canary." She stressed. Dinah looked with disbelief, much to the Team's surprise. "Come on!" she yelled as if she was begging for it. Ahsoka stepped up behind Serra and chuckled. "Take it easy, Black Canary. There's no shame in losing to Serra." Ahsoka reasoned. Dinah panted as she let down her fighting stance. Ahsoka looked to her and the rest of the Team and smiled. "She's one of the best fighters in the Jedi Order, considering she comes from the long line of the Shan family." Ahsoka stated. The Team had no idea who the Shans were, but by judging at how excellently Serra performed against all of them and managed to take them all down, the Shans must be pretty powerful. Serra scoffed at this and looked back to Ahsoka. "Actually, I'm the second best, and you know it." She remarked. The two Jedi chuckled as the Team smiled and walked up to her. "I'll teach you how to fight against Force-Sensitives, and then you can all be pretty tough to face in battle." Serra suggested. The Team started to overlap with agreement as Dinah looked to them jealously. "So what does that make me, the worst?" she asked herself. With that, Black Canary walked off with Batman following her. Ahsoka and Serra looked to the training instructor confusingly, wondering what had gotten into her.
As Black Canary hit the showers, she started to pant and think to herself. "I'm not so sure about this job anymore, Bruce." She told Batman through her comlink. "The Team needs you to instruct them." Batman argued, but Dinah just stepped out of the shower and began to nod her head in disagreement, as well as straighten up her hair. "With Ahsoka and even Serra in the picture, I'm not so sure right now." The bird-themed heroine remarked. "I feel like Ted right now." She explained. Batman sighed and seemed to understand what she was talking about. "Wildcat was an excellent member of the Justice League, but you know that it was his decision to drop out. You don't have to do the same." Batman stated. Dinah sighed as she got behind a curtain to put her clothes back on. "I know, Bruce, but we both feel outdated, and I think I might want a transfer." Dinah argued back. "Try one more time, and then you can do what you need to do." Batman ordered. Dinah sighed as she placed on her stockings. "Alright, I'll see." She negotiated. After Batman hung up, Dinah looked down to her feet and sighed sadly. "I wonder what Ted would say right now." She asked herself.
Later on, Captain Marvel watched as Ahsoka and Serra started to train the Team to combat themselves against Force-Sensitives. The two female Jedi had given every member of the Team special helmets, each with their clear visors replaced with solid visors. Ahsoka sighed as she and Serra walked around the Team. "Okay, so the trick is to use your senses." Serra explained. Rocket nodded as Zatanna started to feel all around her helmet. "Are you sure that this is safe? I mean, we can't even see the light of day." She joked. Ahsoka smiled and chuckled. "Don't worry, you'll grow into it." She reasoned. The Team smiled as Ahsoka and Serra both activated their lightsabers. "Hear the sounds of out blades, and react to the attack." Serra instructed. With that, she struck her lightsaber at Kaldur's neck. Before the blade could even reach, though, Kaldur unsheathed one of his Water-Bearers and used his own blade to block Serra's. Ahsoka smiled and patted him on the shoulder. "Good job, Kaldur." She complimented. Aqualad smiled as Ahsoka struck at the rest of the Team, who all did similar reactions. Robin jumped over one blade while Kid Flash swerved from side to side against another. Connor ducked from Ahsoka as M'gann became intangible and let the blade run through her without any harm. Artemis backflipped and kicked the blade away while Zatanna twirled and knocked Serra aside, in which Rocket created shields as both of the Jedi struck at her simultaneously. All of the Team was able to perform these with flying colors, while blindfolded.
Ahsoka and Serra looked to them and chuckled. "You're progressing very well, Team." Serra complimented. The Team all smiled as they prepared to take off their helmets. Ahsoka then stopped them. "You'll need your helmets for the training exercises." The Togrutan reminded them. The Team nodded as they placed their helmets back on. Serra smiled as she looked at each member of the Team. "Artemis and Rocket, spar against Aqualad and Kid Flash with the helmets still on." Serra ordered. The four nodded as they started to walk towards the wrong members. Ahsoka sighed and looked to them. "Aqualad and Kid Flash, take a left turn. Artemis and Rocket, walk to your right." She ordered calmly. The four nodded once again as they went against each other. "Remember to predict the movements of your opponents' attacks." Serra instructed. The four nodded as they started to fight. Ahsoka smiled as she and Serra looked to the rest of the Team. "The rest of you, continue to evade lightsaber attacks." Serra ordered. The rest of the Team nodded as Serra and Ahsoka attacked them. The training went on for at least an hour, as they were all progressing very well. "They may just be what we need after all." Serra stated happily to Ahsoka. The Ex-Jedi smiled as the training went on.
Later that day, Dinah decided to give staying with the Team another go. She took a deep breath and felt her heart beat as she walked into the room. Suddenly, she gasped to see how the Jedi were training everybody. Now, the Team was not only evading lightsabers, but they were now jumping and dodging swinging soda cans. "You have to remember to keep your senses sharp!" Serra yelled. Ahsoka nodded as she threw in some more cans. The Team was able to sense this and all jumped from them separately. Black Canary started to pant anxiously as she saw the Team performing admirably. Robin was able to jump gallantly through each small object while Aqualad just swept from side to side. Artemis leapt into the air and backflipped while Kid Flash and Zatanna swerved from each can. Superboy and Miss Martian were able to dodge each soda can as they swayed from side to side and Rocket was just flipping through each swinging can with the greatest of ease. Black Canary looked to the Team angrily as she started to clench her fist and squeeze on her jacket. She silently grunted as she finally stormed away in anger towards the Zeta Tubes. Ahsoka and Serra took notice of this and looked to each other worryingly. As the Team continued to evade the small soda cans, Ahsoka sighed. "Keep it up, we'll be back." Ahsoka yelled out. Serra sighed and nodded. "Yeah, Ahsoka and I are just going for some fresh air. Stop until all of you get a cramp." Serra ordered. The Team nodded as they went back to evading the soda cans. Ahsoka and Serra looked to each other before they both walked to the Zeta Tubes. Recognized Ahsoka Tano B-1-1 Serra Keto A-0-7 the female computer voice said as they left the Cave and to where Black Canary was headed.
Battery Park City, New York 1253 hours
Ahsoka and Serra came out of the picture booth-disguised Zeta Tube and entered the Big Apple. Serra winked her eyes before gasping. "Wow, that hurt a lot!" she exclaimed. Ahsoka smiled and patter her on the back. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it sooner or later." She remarked. Serra nodded and smiled as they started to walk around the big city. "Where do you think Black Canary is, Ahsoka?" Serra asked her best friend. Ahsoka shrugged and sighed. "I don't know Black Canary that well, and she never opens up to anyone, even if it could be her fiancé or her best friend." Ahsoka explained. Serra sighed as she suddenly took notice to Ahsoka's shapeshifted human form. "Why are you in a disguise?" she asked curiously. Ahsoka sighed and shrugged. "The Justice League calls it a secret identity. Every hero has to have one in order to maintain a low profile." She explained. Serra scoffed and for a while, laughed a bit. "You do realize that those aren't necessary in the Jedi Order, right?" she asked. Ahsoka nodded and looked to her. Serra chuckled and gestured to her whole body. "Me, well I don't mind public exposure. The Jedi never have rules about stuff like that, and I live by the rule of the Jedi." Serra remarked. Ahsoka just sighed as they continued to search.
At the same time, Dinah was walking in her civilian clothing to Ted Grant's gym. I haven't been here for quite some time. Dinah thought to herself. She walked up to the door and let out a big sigh before knocking on the door. "Ted? It's me, Dinah Lance, your best student." She yelled. Black Canary waited for some kind of response from her former teacher, yet she heard nothing of the sort. Sighing again, Dinah knocked on the door. There was still no response. Black Canary gasped worryingly as she kicked down the door and ran into the gym. From the looks of it, the gym has been abandoned for quite some time. Dinah started to hyperventilate heavily as she started to look around. As she was looking, Dinah saw that the security camera was still active. Black Canary smiled slightly as she looked into the recording. Much to her frustration, the screen was static. "Holy Crud!" she cursed to herself angrily. Dinah placed the device back where it was before walking out.
On the way out, Dinah saw some thugs cornering a woman with a purse in her hands. "Just give us the money and we'll spare your life!" one of the thugs demanded. As the woman nodded no, the other thug drew out a pocketknife and started to walk in closer to her. "Say goodbye to your life, old lady!" he exclaimed. The woman yelled as the man was about to stab her. At that moment, the thug was punched aside. All of the punks looked aside as Dinah cracked her knuckles and cracked her neck. "Are you feeling lucky today, punks?" she asked. The thugs snarled as they started to circle around the training instructor. Dinah looked around her and back kicked one of the thugs behind her before performing a left hook at another on her right. The rest of the thugs yelled and charged in to attack the training instructor as Dinah stood ready to take them on; all were ready to fight in anger.
As Ahsoka and Serra kept looking for Black Canary, the two suddenly heard some punches being landed. "Do you hear that?" Serra asked. Ahsoka nodded and looked to the nearby alley. "Let's go!" she exclaimed. Serra nodded as the two headed towards where the fight was taking place. When they arrived, they saw Black Canary beating up some thugs. Serra sighed and placed a hand on her hip. "What is she doing?" she asked Ahsoka. The Togrutan shrugged as they watched from the sidelines. "I honestly have no idea. Never before have I seen Black Canary this upset before." She stated. "I wonder what's wrong with her." Serra wondered.
As Dinah kicked away the last thug, she sighed and looked to the woman. "Everything's all right now, ma'am. Just walk along and keep away from the alleys." Dinah stated. The young woman smiled as she ran out of the alley and back into the streets. Black Canary sighed in exasperation as she watched the woman walk away. "Well, you certainly know how to vent out lots of anger, don't you?" a voice came from behind. Dinah started to tense up as she turned around to see who said that. When she saw Ahsoka and Serra come out, Dinah just scoffed and walked away. Serra looked to Ahsoka, who just shrugged. Ahsoka and Serra ran after Black Canary as she stormed off angrily. "Wait! What did we do?" Serra asked with concern. Black Canary looked to Serra and tried to attack her, but Serra blocked the attack and placed her fist down. "That's why I'm ticked off." She stated. Ahsoka looked to Dinah as she started to walk away once again. "You're just upset with us because we're more skilled than you? It's nothing to be ashamed of, I said that earlier." Ahsoka remarked. Dinah threw her fist around and growled. "You seem to be taking my job! I've never been beaten in my entire life, NEVER! And you're making me feel out of place." Black Canary retorted angrily. The two Jedi looked to each other with confusion as they caught up with her to talk. "We don't want your job! We're Jedi, not Den Mothers!" Ahsoka proclaimed. Serra looked to her and tapped her finger against her head. Ahsoka nodded with understanding as she turned back to Dinah. "We're not trying to take over your role as training instructor; we're just doing our best to prep the Team for whatever comes their way." Ahsoka explained. Dinah scoffed as she continued to walk. "Yeah, well it sure doesn't seem like it." She retorted.
Ahsoka scoffed as she crossed her arms in disbelief. "Some adult you are, sulking over a small ordeal like that! I thought you were supposed to be a role model for the Team!" she exclaimed. Black Canary stopped and looked back to Ahsoka. Before she could say anything to her, another thug came up. Black Canary growled and knocked the two Jedi aside as she took the opportunity to hit him herself. Before the thug could be KO'd, he placed his arms up in a surrendering look. "I have some news to deliver!" he yelled. Dinah stopped and grabbed the man by the collar. "Make it fast, or I rearrange your face so much that someone will have to put it back together!" she threatened. Ahsoka and Serra stood aghast as the man gulped. "Ted Grant, 'Wildcat' you call him, right? Well, the League of Shadows has him captive!" the man exclaimed. Black Canary leaned in closer and snarled. "Where is he?!" she demanded in a dangerous tone. The man continued to stutter as he held up a poster. "Some guy called Sportsmaster forced him to fight for him after some gang called the ORDER started to grow in numbers. That's all I know, I swear!" the thug exclaimed. Dinah grunted and then threw him to the ground. "Where can I find him?!" she demanded. The thug gulped as he started to talk very quickly. "Sportsmaster's holding him in a place called the Underworld. I don't know much about it, so please don't kill me!" he begged. Black Canary was about to shriek at him with her supersonic abilities until Ahsoka placed a hand on her shoulder. "You got what you wanted. He's beaten, let it go." She calmly stated. Dinah sighed as she placed her fist down. "Go… now." Black Canary ordered aggressively. The man stuttered and started to run away. "Let's go to the Underworld." Serra stated, in which the two nodded.
Ahsoka, Serra and Dinah all approached the place tipped to them by the thug. "I think this is the place." Ahsoka said. Dinah sighed as she walked in. As they were walking in, they suddenly caught sight of Kathleen Duquesne, one of Wildcat's many students, coming out of an elevator all injured and beaten. Ahsoka approached her and caught her before she fell down and gave away. "Where do we find Ted Grant?" Ahsoka asked. Kathy coughed some blood out of her mouth as she looked to a poster that Serra was holding. "I was redeemed by the Wildcat, and fought with him until the Shadows caught him. Sportsmaster was angered that he was trying to stop new recruitments, and pinned him in several death matches against all of the Shadow recruitments until he dropped dead." Kathleen explained weakly. She then turned her attention to Dinah Lance. "I remember you… Dinah." She stated happily. Black Canary squirmed nervously as Ahsoka and Serra looked to her with much confusion. "Please… save Wildcat. Sportsmaster gave him a small dose of Kobra Venom to give him just a small chance of survival. He gave the rest of the recruits a large dose of the drug to make sure that he dies. You're his best student, so please save him." Kathleen begged. Dinah smiled and looked down to her. "I'll do my best." She stated. Kathy smiled before she fell into unconsciousness. Ahsoka placed her ear against her heart and smiled. "She's still breathing, but she just fainted." She informed. Dinah smiled and took out a cellphone. "I'll make sure she gets to the hospital." She stated. Serra smiled and looked to Ahsoka. "How about we see what this Sportsmaster is doing?" she asked. Ahsoka smiled and looked to Black Canary, who nodded with approval. Dinah then walked out of the parking lot and into the light as the two Jedi entered the building.
Inside, Ahsoka and Serra watched as Wildcat was in a cage-like arena, fighting off against Shimmer and Professor Ojo. Ahsoka narrowed her eyes as she saw a figure in the booth with a hockey mask on his face. "That's him, it's Sportsmaster." Ahsoka explained. "Now, I regret curing him of being Transmarcher." Ahsoka cursed to herself. Serra looked to her friend and smirked as she unsheathed one of her hilts. Before she could jump in to attack, Ahsoka stopped her. "We need a plan! Crusher could call in any member of the Light, any of his friends if he sees us!" she stated. Serra sighed and clipped her hilt back onto her belt. "Do you have a plan?" Serra asked. Ahsoka smiled and looked to her as Black Canary entered the building.
Later on, Dinah led Ahsoka and Serra into the front of the building, all wearing disguises. Black Canary was now wearing a black coat with a dark domino mask with black gloves and a dress, as well as fishnet stockings and boots (Think of Black Canary from Smallville); Ahsoka was in her Zygerrian Slave uniform, updated with an aqua mouthpiece, and Serra was in her usual attire. Sportsmaster looked to the three girls and grinned. "Have you come to join the Shadows and see Wildcat die?" he asked. Ahsoka, in a new shapeshifted form, gulped and nodded while Black Canary nodded as well, in which Serra did the same. Crusher chuckled and let them in. "Welcome to the League of Shadows! Make sure to savor the death of Wildcat! His nine lives are almost up!" Sportsmaster yelled. Serra snarled at Crusher as they entered the ring. Sportsmaster smiled, but it soon faded after he saw something silver hidden within the two. "Hmm, something's not right." He stated to himself. After stating that, Sportsmaster walked back into the booth and looked down to the three as they walked up behind Shimmer and Tommy Terror. Before they could land a hit on the tired fighter, Ahsoka placed her hand out and choked them into unconsciousness. Crusher gasped as he saw the three run up to Wildcat. "It's time to call in the bug guns." The villain quipped as he pressed a button on the terminal.
On the ground below, Wildcat panted as Dinah, Ahsoka and Serra ran up to him. "You can sit this one out, Teach." Dinah stated as she stood next to her mentor. Ted's eyes widened as he looked to the three females. "My stars, I can't believe it!" he exclaimed. Ahsoka just smirked and looked back to him. "We're here to help." She stated. Serra nodded as three more Shadow initiatives came in. Ahsoka and Serra smirked as the three heroes readied themselves for battle. Before the three could attack, though, they were all pulled aside by a massive hand. All four of them gasped as a large gust of sand blew by. Ahsoka and Serra held their hands out to prevent themselves from being hit, but the sand blinded Dinah. As Ahsoka gasped, the four all heard a laughter coming from above. Serra looked up and glared into the camera while Ahsoka just growled. "Sportsmaster, you cowardly Sleemo!" Ahsoka cursed, in which Sportsmaster looked down and narrowed his eyes at them. "If you even had the slightest chance of besting me, then you are so sadly mistaken!" Lawrence retorted to the heroes through the microphone. Serra activated a lightsaber and pointed it to Crusher. "How about you come down here and say that up close and personal?" she snippily asked. Sportsmaster chuckled and pressed the button on the terminal. "It will happen all in good time, Jedi. For now, see if you can survive." He quipped. At that moment, Mammoth came out of a door. Ahsoka and Serra both activated their lightsabers and stood in Ataru stances. "Bring it on." Ahsoka taunted. Black Canary looked up and started to pant. Serra looked to her with much worriment as Mammoth charged in to attack.
As Mammoth charged at the four heroes, they all scattered aside. "This is just like when Master Kenobi and Master Skywalker took down that Gundark." Serra stated to her friend. Ahsoka smirked and gasped. "That's how we'll take it down! We'll use its own strength against him!" Ahsoka remarked. Serra smiled as Wildcat came over and panted. "That trick never gets old! You three get its attention, and then I'll take it down!" Ted ordered. The Jedi nodded as Wildcat went to circle the beast while Dinah joined up with the two. "How do I fight?" she asked. Serra looked over to Black Canary and sighed. "Dinah, you'll have to follow our steps. Fighting without sight is a talent of the Jedi." Serra explained. Black Canary smiled and started to circle Mammoth. Ahsoka looked to Dinah and nodded. "Sense the surroundings! Use all senses!" Ahsoka ordered. Black Canary heard which direction the Togrutan was speaking from and nodded. Mammoth swung his fist down onto the bird-themed heroine, Dinah leapt into the air and shrieked at the monster, causing Mammoth to fall back in pain. Ahsoka ran up to him and started to dodge each of his wild attacks. Dinah looked to Ahsoka as Serra joined her. "Serra, the larger the enemy the weaker it is in the knees!" she yelled. Serra smiled and nodded as she ducked an attack. When Mammoth started to run towards the female Jedi, Serra went aside and slashed at Mammoth's knees. Mammoth got up, just in time for Ahsoka to leap in and stood ready to take him on. Mammoth roared into the air as Ahsoka charged in at him. Mammoth charged back and the two passed each other. Ahsoka stood with her lightsabers still active as Mammoth stood still alive and breathing. At that moment, Mammoth fell to the ground. Before he could hit the ground, though, Wildcat ran in and punched him to the booth.
Sportsmaster gasped as he began to run out of the building. As he neared the exit, an arrow was shot at his feet. Gas started to emerge from the arrow as Artemis and the rest of the Team appeared. The three heroines ran up with Wildcat in tow as they looked to the Team. "Thanks for the assist." Serra stated. Robin smirked and winked. "Sorry we're late, by the way. We caught a cramp." He joked. They all laughed as the police came to take away the criminals.
After the whole ordeal was done with, Ted Grant was taken to a hospital to be treated to his injuries. Black Canary was able to talk him into coming back, and after a while of thinking, the veteran agreed to return to crime-fighting. After all, with the extra dose of Kobra Venom he was given, there was no stopping him. Hours after Dinah went to the hospital to check in on her mentor, Ahsoka and Serra decided to visit Ted's gym. When they entered, they saw that Dinah was practicing with a dummy. The two smiled as they walked up to her. "Are you feeling all better now?" Ahsoka asked. Dinah stopped and looked to them as she went to get a drink of water. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks to you two." She stated. Serra smiled as she began to look down to her feet meekly. "Listen, Dinah, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for the whole misunderstanding. Your place is with the Team." Serra apologized sympathetically. Black Canary smiled as she walked up to her. "It's alright, Serra. I actually was impressed that you were able to hold your own." Dinah stated. Ahsoka smiled as she walked up to them. "You remind me of a great master when I was still in the Jedi Order." Ahsoka remarked. Dinah chuckled as she got a towel and wiped off the sweat. "Oh really, who was that?" she asked. Ahsoka chuckled and looked down. "His name was Mace Windu. He's considered to be the greatest in the Jedi, and you're just like him." She stated. Dinah laughed as she looked back to the Jedi. "If I'm that great, then let me tell you who you remind me of, Ahsoka." Black Canary remarked. Ahsoka raised an eyebrow as she nodded. "You remind me of… me, when I was your age." She stated. The three laughed as they started talking about each other and their lives. It was the start to a good friendship.
