Chapter 22: Technical Problems
Vlatava March 19th 2315 hours UTC
Queen Perdita walked around her castle late that night. With the sudden, yet relieving, disappearance of her uncle, Werner Vertigo, things seemed to get awfully suspicious, even with the ORDER finally arriving to take care of everything that the United Nations had never bothered to take care of in the first place. "Sooner or later, there's bound to be more trouble brewing, and I can't stand around to be the first Queen of Vlatava just to see her own country get torn apart." She curtly scolded.
Just then, there was a loud clattering. Perdita turned the corner and pulled a sword out from a mannequin of a knight and pointed it into the shadows. "Who's there?!" she demanded. At the least, nothing responded. Perdita continued to wander the halls as more of the clattering and clanking started to draw nearer and louder. Perdita gulped as she started to close in on whatever was making the sounds. At that moment, she heard a voice say, "Roger, Roger." Perdita gasped as a metallic claw grabbed her. She screamed as she was taken away into the night.
Keystone High March 21st 805 hours ETC
Wally walked to his locker with Jaybo at his side. The young technician looked around the school with wonder as he walked over to his locker. Wally looked to him and chuckled. "Okay, listen to me. Your name is James Hood, you skipped three grades, and you came from New York." The speedster explained. Jaybo looked back to him and scoffed. "Wally West, I think I know how to handle myself in a place full of kids." He replied. Wally sighed as they headed off to their class. As they were walking, Wally looked over to Jaybo and said, "Okay, James, remember, if you want to survive, you just have to hope that there will never be a…"
"Pop quiz!" Mrs. Anderson yelled to the class. Wally and the rest of the students gasped with shock as Jaybo snickered. The teacher started to hand out papers to all of the students immediately. "Remember to use a No. 2 pencil, write in complete sentences, show all your work, fill in the answers completely, and you only have one hour to get this done, so begin." The teacher said. As soon as Wally and the students started, Jaybo placed his paper up in the air and smiled. "Done!" he yelled. All the students gaped with wonder as they looked to Jaybo as he walked over to the teacher with the paper. "I'm sorry if I took too long; I just wanted to double check my answers and make sure that all the circles were filled in." He explained. Mrs. Anderson looked in surprise as Wally had his mouth wide open at the youngster.
Mount Justice 1521 hours
At Mount Justice, Ahsoka and M'gann, as well as the rest of the Team looked to Serra Keto as she tried on her new clothing. It was only after some deliberation that Serra gave the Stealth Tech modifications a go. "Go and try it." M'gann stated to the human Jedi. Serra looked down and pressed the symbol of the Jedi Order on her chest. Her clothing started to shift into darker colors as the Team smiled. Serra looked up and smiled as well. Robin then walked up to her with a smirk. "Okay, you have your official uniform for the Team, so all you need now is a codename." The Boy Wonder stated. Serra looked to the domino-masked kid and chuckled. "Okay, I choose my own name, Serra." She remarked. Aqualad walked up and shook his head no. "Everyone needs a name that won't stand out too much." The Atlantean reminded her. Serra looked at him snippily as she placed a hand on her hip. "The last time I checked, Aqualad, Artemis and Zatanna seem to stand out." She pointed out. There was a moment of silence in the room before Aqualad nodded. "I see, so Serra it is." He replied. The Team all smiled as the Zeta Tubes started to light up.
Recognized Kid Flash B-0-3, Jaybo Hood B-1-3 the female computer announced as Kid Flash and Jaybo entered the Cave. Ahsoka and Serra were surprised to see that Wally was hiding his face. "What happened this time?" Ahsoka asked exasperatingly, full remembering how Artemis felt with Serra on her first day at school. Wally sighed as he whispered to Ahsoka shamefully. "Jaybo is standing out too much!" he whispered. Ahsoka sighed as the Team looked with disapproval. Jaybo just looked at the technology of the Cave as Aqualad cleared his throat. "I believe we should start training." He stated. The rest of the Team nodded with agreement as Jaybo looked up. "I'll just watch, you know, so that there's an even number of Team players to train." He said. Kaldur nodded as the Team soon got into the Training Room to spar.
The Team was soon set up as Ahsoka was set against Aqualad, Robin was fighting Lux, Zatanna fought with Serra, Rocket went against Saw, Kid Flash was on Superboy, and M'gann went against Artemis. Black Canary looked to the Team with approval and nodded. She then turned her attention to Jaybo. "Jaybo, are you sure you don't want to participate?" she asked. Jaybo stood up from his laid-down position and nodded. "I'll be fine. I just need to have some time off." He replied. Black Canary looked to him with a confused look on her face. She lifted an eyebrow in concern, but Jaybo looked to her with a smile to let her know that he was fine. Dinah nodded and signaled for the Team to begin training.
Aqualad struck at Ahsoka with a lower jab, in which the Togrutan blocked with her leg. Robin and Saw clashed while the rest of the Team commenced with their training for the day. While that was happening, Jaybo took a look at the holoscreen footages. "Let's see what I can do for the time being." He mused to himself. As he watched the Team train, he silently snuck away. He took a peak at the holoscreens and wolf whistled. He gazed in wonder, and might as well have flinched in pain from the sight of the event, as he saw the invasion of the Red Androids. "I can see that they have very bad security." He stated. Skipping the rest of the battle, he moved onto the next footage. Since none of the Team noticed this, he became relieved and continued to look on. The next piece of footage he pulled up was their very first fight against the Terror Titans. Once again, he flinched in pain and started to take mental notes on the previous tactics the Team has used.
While he was away looking at the footage, Jaybo walked to his room and started to take out a sketchpad and some filler paper to take his notes. "So far, Robin doesn't seem like much of the close-range fighter, so he could have a disadvantage over Falcon, seeing as how he can sneak around quicker than him and a Womp Rat combined." He remarked. He started to draw some schematics while he moved onto Aqualad. "Kaldur seems to have a problem with a lack of H20, and Blood Bane can exploit that if he has a single cut. If he has no water, then he can kiss his life goodbye." Jaybo added on, making some more schematics. "Kid Flash can move fast, but his speed is limited, and Superboy would die in his next battle with Ultraboy." Jaybo deducted. He then moved onto the girls. "M'gann seems to be open to mental attacks, but sadly, there's nothing I could do to help her, unless…" Jaybo started. He then drew out some more plans as he moved onto the other three girls. "Artemis seems to run out of arrows, and she doesn't seem to fare well against melee fighters." He stated. Since there was nothing to go over with Rocket or Zatanna, Jaybo closed his book and smiled. "I now know what to do." He stated to himself. He ran over to his bag and grabbed a couple of stuff before running off to where the Team currently was.
Later on, the Team all walked over to the showers to relax. "That was quite a workout." Ahsoka stated. Serra nodded as she looked over to Saw. "Do you train like this all the time?" she asked Aqualad. The Atlantean nodded as they soon heard Black Canary's voice come from the outside. "Be sure to wash up! We still have a lot more training to do!" Dinah yelled. The Team groaned as they went into separate stalls to shower and cool off. They threw off their clothes and soon started to shower.
As the Team was showering, Jaybo appeared from his hiding spot and walked over to the Team's suits. "This will only take a short while." He said to himself. He picked up Robin's suit and started to weld at it. After two minutes, he moved onto Aqualad's pack. When he was finished, Wally's gear came next. Soon, Jaybo moved onto Connor's boots. Before he moved onto the next suit, he placed a towel onto Superboy's clothes and put two lenses on it. After that, he went to M'gann's uniform and started to weld at it as well. "This should help her a lot." He stated. Soon, he next moved onto Artemis' gear and uniform. He the reached for her bow and removed the string. After doing so, he placed a new string onto the bow. "Cortosis, one of the unbreakable elements from the Outer Rim." Jaybo said to himself as he placed the bow back down and going back to attend to the rest of her uniform. After fitting it with what he could fit in, Jaybo started to remove all the Stealth Tech features and adding in his own feature. He smiled in approval as he ran over to the Cave System room.
In the main System Room, Jaybo looked at all the controls. He slotted a drive into the main computer and started to type away. "This should do the trick." He exclaimed. His eyes began to shine as he was now done with his work.
As the Team came out of the Shower Room, they headed towards their training instructor for some more training. Black Canary looked to them all and smiled. "Are we all set?" she asked the Team. While some of the Team nodded affirmatively, Robin, Artemis and Wally started to scratch their bodies. M'gann rubbed the back of her neck as the rest of the Team looked to them with confusion. "What's wrong?" Black Canary asked. Robin shrugged as he continued to scratch himself. "Our suits just feel a bit different." Artemis stated. As the rest of the Team watched, Dinah sighed and stepped forwards. "Maybe you just need to stretch." She suggested.
At that moment, there was a high-pitched and rapid beeping as the Team looked up and about. "What's going on, Dinah?" Serra asked. Before Black Canary could reprimand her on calling her by her real name, lasers started to fire at the Team. "Get down!" Lux yelled. He, Serra and Ahsoka started to activate their lightsabers and deflect the bolts while the rest of the Team started to run and dodge the lasers. Wally looked to Black Canary and chuckled. "You never told us about this. If you're doing some kind of updates on the Cave's defense systems, then good job!" he exclaimed. Dinah turned around and shook her head no. "I didn't do anything!" she exclaimed. The lasers started to fire faster as the Team continued to evade them.
Soon, after a while, Batman and Red Tornado entered through the Zeta Tubes. "Is everything all–?" the Dark Knight started out, but soon dodged the fire with Red Tornado as Dinah looked to them. "We need to have a talk about our defense systems! It's not that we don't want it, Red, but we'd just like a little warning ahead of time!" Black Canary yelled. Tornado got up and shook his head in disagreement. "I never installed anything." He replied. Dinah's eyes widened as the bolts started to close in on the Team and grow more rapidly.
From the Control Room, Jaybo looked down and saw the Team having a difficult time with the new upgrades. "Maybe I should lessen it. The test run didn't seem too well." He told himself. With that, he pressed a button and the lasers stopped. He soon ran out of the Control Room and to the Team.
Back in the Mission Room, the Team and the League continued to evade the unknown defense system until it shut down. Aqualad looked up as he was being protected by Rocket. "What just happened?" he asked. At that moment, Jaybo walked into the room, yawning. Saw looked to the young genius and smirked. "Did you have a nice nap?" he asked. Jaybo started to stretch and look to Saw. He was really tired from making all the plans and the adjustments to the suits, but he smiled and nodded. "Yeah, what did I miss?" he asked. He then looked to the room and whistled. "Well, I see that my new upgrades into the Cave system were a success." He stated. The Team and the League all widened their eyes as Jaybo turned around and smiled. Connor angrily ran up to him and growled. "We could have gotten killed!" he reprimanded. Ahsoka looked to him and sighed. "Why would you even do this?" she asked. Jaybo shrugged and walked over to the holoscreens. "The security defenses were poor ever since the Android Invasion, so I made a couple of modifications to the Cave." He stated. Batman walked up to him and gave a stern look. "For now, those seemed useful, but if you ever need to make upgrades, consult with either me or any League member first." He scolded. Jaybo looked up to Batman's BatGlare and nodded with a smile on his face. "I'll keep that in mind." He stated.
Black Canary looked to the Team and sighed. "Okay, now that that's over, let's move onto training." She said. Artemis panted and walked over to her. "I think that was enough exercises for today!" she yelled. Dinah looked down and saw a rip in her pants and nodded. "I guess we can continue in a couple more hours." She stated. The Team sighed in relief as they walked out into the Kitchen. As they left, everyone started to send glares to Jaybo.
Teth System, Invisible Hand…
Count Dooku walked up to the bridge of his ship and looked to his droids. They might not be the best soldiers that the Separatists had, but they would suffice for now. Recently, Darth Sidious had reported to Dooku about the existence of another universe. He sent probe droids, Cad Bane, and even a Recon Team to investigate, but none had come back with much success yet. Tyranus sighed as he walked up to General Grievous, leader of the Droid Army.
"What progress have we heard from our Reconnaissance Team on the other side of the anomaly?" he asked the former Kaleesh. Grievous groaned and coughed as he walked in front of the Sith. "Count Dooku, the forces we have sent have not been successful. However, our recent one has reported that the planet that they've landed on is called Earth." Grievous reported. Count Dooku gave a grim look as General Grievous looked to the commander droid. "However, one of our squads has been eliminated, but not before they were able to send transmissions of these girls attacking them." He added on. Dooku smiled sinisterly as he nodded to the Droid Leader.
The droid nodded as he brought up the footage. Dooku narrowed his eyes and scowled as he saw who had attacked his squadron. He recognized Skywalker's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and he also recognized the former Padawan Learner of Luminara Unduli known as Barriss Offee. The one figure he didn't recognize, though, was a woman in green with bladed weapons and some sort of feline mask. "I want the girl in green to be investigated. If we are able to find out any kinds of diplomacy of that backwater planet, then our plans must be put ahead of schedule." Dooku ordered. Grievous chuckled and bowed respectfully. "It will be done, Count." He assured his master. Dooku smiled as he continued to oversee the operations of his army.
Earth-16, Mount Justice 1855 hours…
As everyone relaxed in the Lounge, M'gann started to make cookies for everyone. Jaybo was just tinkering with some sort of fidget while Ahsoka eyed him suspiciously. Artemis walked up to Ahsoka and knelt down to her sitting level. "How is it that even you are ticked at this nerd?" she asked. Ahsoka turned to her and raised an eyebrow. "Don't you have some kind of background with Jaybo?" Wally asked as he joined in on the conversation. Ahsoka shrugged and sighed. "All that I know of him is that he helped my master save me from the Blue Shadow Virus." She explained. Zatanna, who was lying down on top of the couch next to her looked down and sighed. "What's the Blue Shadow Virus and how was it such an impact on you?" she asked tiredly. Ahsoka looked up to the mage and sighed. "See, a scientist named Nuvo Vindi used to be a medicine man for a family, but he became so obsessed with his work that he created a virus instead of an antidote." Ahsoka started out. The rest of the Team joined in as M'gann continued to make cookies, but still listen. "It was a plague that nearly killed me, the Clone Troopers, the Senator, and a friend. According to my master, Jaybo helped him find a cure for the virus, and our lives were spared." Ahsoka explained further on. Everyone stood in shock and silence as Ahsoka finished up the story. "Even though my master says that Jaybo helped him to find the antidote for the parasitical virus, all I see in him is nothing more than a lazy and obnoxious teenage boy." Ahsoka added on. The rest of the Team nodded in agreement as Jaybo played around with Droid fingers.
As they were listening further on about the Blue Shadow Virus, M'gann reached into a cabinet for some more dough and a pan. As she looked into the cabinet, she gasped. The rest of the Team looked as M'gann seemed to be startled. "Why is there a camera inside of the cab?" she asked. Jaybo stood up and smirked. "In case someone tries to invade, I installed cameras everywhere inside of the Cave, some in bedrooms, cabinets, restrooms, you name it." He explained. The Team's eyes widened as they all stepped back soon after. M'gann sighed as she reached for what she needed and continued to make the cookies.
A while later, after the cookies were done, Black Canary then entered the room and looked to the Team with a stressed look on her face. She took a deep breath before looking over to M'gann. "Can I have one?" she asked. Megan nodded as Dinah picked up a cookie and then turned to the Team. "I think we can get back to training now." She stated. The Team looked up and nodded as Dinah ate the cookie. "Perhaps we can try some simulation training, so we are all prepared to take on the Terror Titans, the generals of the ORDER, or even more members of the Light." She suggested. Aqualad stood up and nodded. "We can do that." He replied. Dinah smiled as the Team went towards the Training Room. "Red Tornado will be instructing you on this!" she yelled. After they left, she grabbed a cookie and smiled at the taste of it. "Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, someone's in the kitchen, I know-o-o-ow." She sang to herself happily. As she went to get more cookies to eat, she took notice of the hidden camera and gulped. She placed down the cookie and chuckled nervously.
Meanwhile, in the Training Room, the thirteen members of the Team awaited as Red Tornado walked up to the terminal. "You will be facing the all of your enemies at once. I have set the level to sixteen, as I now know what you are all capable of doing together as a Team." He stated. The Team nodded as the Cave died down and turned into a large area of the city. As the Team looked around, the Terror Titans appeared from one side. Rocket and Saw turned to see the League of Shadows appear from the other while ORDER generals and the Injustice League arrived, surrounding the Team. Aqualad reached for a Water-Bearer hilt and looked to the rest of the Team. "Scatter." He ordered. The Team acknowledged and all ran off to attack their enemies.
Robin ran over to Falcon and Atomic Skull and leapt onto a building. He then unsheathed a birdarang and threw it. The two enemies took notice and jumped away. As the birdarang hit the ground, it scattered and started to chase after the enemies. Robin's eyes widened as he looked to his gadgets. "How did that happen?" he asked himself. Falcon threw his a falcorang at Robin, who took notice of the attack and leapt into the air. Falcon stepped back and gaped as Robin raised an eyebrow. He turned to see that he was now standing on thin air! "How is this happening?!" Robin asked himself angrily.
Aqualad charged into Deathstroke and Blood Bane and formed swords from his Water-Bearers. Blood Bane unsheathed his Blood Bearer as Aqualad's sword knocked aside Slade and made a gash in the Titan. Aqualad raised an eyebrow and looked to his sword. It was now solid! "How is this happening?!" he asked himself. He then ran over to Blood Bane as the two clashed swords. Aqualad felt himself gaining more momentum over Bane as he soon threw him over the edge of the building. Aqualad looked to his Water-Bearers and nodded with a smirk on his face. "Yeah, I can live with this." He stated. With that, he charged into more enemies.
Kid Flash and Inertia stood in a standoff. The minute Inertia dashed away, Kid Flash smirked. "If that's the way you want it." He quipped. With that, he started to move at Inertia's same speed. All of a sudden, there was a yell of terror as Inertia was thrown to the ground and many Shadow Assassins fell. "Something's wrong here!" he yelled. Right now, he was going faster than ever. He was going so fast that he had no idea how to stop! At the same time, Superboy watched as Ultraboy flew into the air. Connor growled and jumped at him, but he suddenly started to float in the air as well! Grinning, Connor punched at Ultraboy. The Bizarre Boy growled and sent some heat vision towards him. Connor gasped as he flew aside. He glared at Ultraboy and at that moment, heat vision came out of his eyes as well and blasted Ultraboy to the ground! Connor looked to himself and chuckled. "I don't know if these are some kind of new shields, but I am starting to love this power!" he stated.
M'gann and Silver Martian levitated multiple objects at each other until the evil M'gann psychically attacked her. M'gann fell to the ground with pain, but then got up after feeling some sort of shock. She pushed her evil twin away as she felt her suit. "Who put electrodes on my suit?" she asked in confusion. At the same time, Artemis fought against Prowler. Artemis shot an arrow at the dark archer, but Prowler caught the arrow and sent it back. Quickly, Artemis held her bow up in defense, and waited for it to break. Strangely enough, the arrow made an impact, but she didn't feel her bow go flat. Artemis looked to her bow and smirked when she saw that no damage had been done to it. "Sucker much?" she asked Prowler. Prowler fired another arrow, but Artemis jumped into the air and reached into her quiver. "I'm on empty!" she exclaimed. Just then, she felt something crawl up her sleeve. Artemis pulled it out and gasped to see an arrow hidden within! "Who did this to me?!" she demanded. Just then, she felt herself drop as she looked to her bow. "Why is this heavier?!" she demanded.
Ahsoka and Serra fought off Black Widow and saw the rest of the Team with new problems. Serra sighed and looked into the air. "Tornado, end the simulation!" she ordered. At that moment, the simulation died down as the Team was struggling with their new abilities. Robin had some difficulty getting down, Aqualad couldn't get a grip on his constructs, Wally was going too fast, Connor was floating in the air uncontrollably and M'gann was being shocked while Artemis was struggling to get her bow off of the ground. Immediately, Ahsoka turned to Jaybo with an anguished look on her face.
"Jaybo, what did you do?!" Ahsoka demanded. Jaybo stepped up and smiled. "Do you guys like it? I made adjustments to your suits so that you can perform better in battle." Jaybo stated. Robin looked to Jaybo with a scowl on his face as he remained in the air. "How do I get down?!" he demanded. Jaybo sighed and walked under him. "Just jump and you'll land on the ground." He explained. Robin groaned and jumped again. With a yell, he fell to the ground in pain. Jaybo smiled and looked to Aqualad. "If you want your constructs to revert back to water, just cock them like guns." He stated. Kaldur looked to his solid constructs and whipped them, turning them back to water. Wally zoomed by him and yelled. "How do I stop?!" he yelled. Jaybo looked to the blur and sighed. "Just hit the brakes, and you'll stop." He explained. Kid Flash facepalmed himself and groaned. "Why didn't I think of that?" he asked himself. With that, he screeched to a halt as Jaybo looked to Connor.
"Stopping yourself is just like riding a bicycle." He yelled. Connor landed on the ground roughly as M'gann continued to struggle with the electrodes on her suit. "There's a command code for it, you know." Jaybo said. M'gann sent a glare to Jaybo before looking to the electrodes. "Cease static shocks." She commanded. With that, the fizzing stopped and M'gann sighed. Artemis then walked by and groaned. "What about my bow?!" she asked with much struggling. Jaybo was about to respond to this until he stopped himself. "Just to ask, how much weight do you usually carry? I might have forgotten to calculate that." He stated. Artemis groaned as she tried to pick up her bow again. Jaybo then gasped and reached his hand out. "Whatever you do, don't touch the button!" he yelled. Artemis groaned as she continued to struggle. "What… button?!" she asked while trying to lift up the bow. As if her question was answered, she pressed a hidden button on the rest of her bow and a blade appeared from the front. "How are you able to sleep at night?!" M'gann asked. Jaybo looked to her and shrugged. "I have my droids play some music for me." He explained.
Zatanna sighed and walked towards him with Raquel. "Are there any surprises for us?" she asked. Jaybo looked to them from bottom to top and shook his head no. "There didn't seem to be anything to modify for you two." He stated. Robin threw his arms around and sulked. "Great, so what else did you change for us that will haunt us for the rest of our lives?" he dryly and sarcastically asked. Jaybo smiled and walked over to the Team. "Try to use your Stealth Mode." He said. Aqualad looked to the rest of the Team, who just shrugged. They all then pressed their Stealth Mode buttons after taking a deep breath. At that moment, the Team gasped. Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Ahsoka and Serra had disappeared! Immediately, Superboy walked up to Jaybo and grabbed him by the collar. "Where are they?!" Connor demanded angrily.
Just then, a voice came out of thin air. "We're right here." Wally's voice said. The Team looked around with confusion as Zatanna tried to use her tracking spell to find them. "How can you miss us? We're six feet away from you!" Artemis's voice exclaimed. "Why can't you see us?" Miss Martian asked from out of nowhere. The rest of the Team just continued to look for where the voices were coming from as Rocket walked up to the Zeta Tube. All of a sudden, she heard a shriek. Raquel jumped as she held her hand out again. Once again, the shriek came. "Rocket, don't touch me there!" Artemis squealed. Jaybo smiled as he then threw some smoke at the ground. Rocket and Saw jumped back as the silhouettes of the invisible Team members appeared, coughing. Aqualad then pressed the symbol on his belt and came out of Stealth Mode, in which the rest of the Team followed. Ahsoka sent a glare to Jaybo and sighed. "What are we going to do with you?" she remarked.
Just then, Batman entered the room and pulled up a holoscreen. "I have your next mission assigned for you." He told the Team. The Team all got together as Batman looked first to Wally. "Queen Perdita has been kidnapped." He stated. The Team's jaws all dropped to the ground as Wally began to stutter. "Where is she?" he asked. Batman gave no reaction as he turned back to the holoscreen. "Several other leaders, such as Rumaan Harjavti, Tseng Dangun and even Queen Bee have also disappeared. We have recently received reports of robotic warriors at the scene, but the League has a right to believe that Professor Ivo made them and that they are working for the Light. Other sources claim that ORDER has commissioned their creation. Your mission is to find the political leaders and discover what party is holding them captive." Batman ordered. Aqualad sighed and looked to the rest of the Team before looking back to the Dark Knight and nodding. "We are prepared to do what it takes." He said. Batman nodded as the Team began to walk to their ships.
Before Ahsoka could exit, Batman stopped her and the Team. "Ahsoka, we have something from STAR Labs that you may find to be useful." Batman stated. Ahsoka looked to him and raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What is it?" she asked curiously. Red Tornado flew over to her and directed them into the Hangar Bay. Inside of the Hangar Bay were the Bioship, the Tano, and Sphere. Another object was covered with a thick layer of cloth. Just then, Ray Palmer, also known as the Ray, grew and smiled to Ahsoka. "This was repaired during the first months you arrived here." He stated. Ahsoka continued to furrow her brow as Red Tornado blew the sheet off of the object. Ahsoka smiled and gasped happily as she saw that her Jedi Starfighter was now fixed! There it was, crimson-colored and ready for flight as her droid, R7-A7 rolled towards it and chirped happily. Robin looked to her and chuckled. "It's now yours again." He said. Ahsoka smiled as she looked to M'gann. "Is it okay if I ride in my Starfighter?" she asked. The young Martian chuckled and nodded yes. "Go for it, Ahsoka." M'gann exclaimed. Ahsoka smiled as she walked to her Starfighter. The rest of the Team got onto the Bioship while the other half traveled in the Tano.
Detroit Michigan 1921 hours
All three ships, the Martian Bioship, the Tano, and Ahsoka's Jedi Starfighter, all flew through the Motor City. Jaybo looked down and gaped with wonder. "Whoa, I've never seen a place with technology like this! It's just to primitive!" Jaybo remarked. Artemis looked over to him as Ahsoka rolled her eyes. "Remember our mission, Jaybo. We need to find out who's been stealing the political leaders, so stay focused." Ahsoka reminded the young genius. Jaybo nodded as Aqualad looked to the rest of the Team. "Enter Stealth Mode." He ordered. The Team nodded and acknowledged. Just then, Jaybo's voice came through. "Wait, you forgot about my upgrades!" Jaybo yelled, but it was too late. At that moment, the Team became invisible once again. The other four members of the original Team looked around as they heard Artemis sigh. "Jaybo Hood, I hate you." Her voice spat. Robin sighed as he looked towards the air and sent out some dust. "Here we go again." He stated.
On the ground below, the Team all rested their ships and started to walk off. Artemis had her new bow placed on her back while Ahsoka and Serra checked their weapons. "My bets are that the Light is behind all of this!" Robin whispered. Wally looked behind him and then scoffed. "If there's any sort of kidnapping, then the ORDER is most likely behind all of this." He remarked back. Artemis and Ahsoka rolled their eyes as they heard some clanking from up ahead. "Get down!" Artemis whispered. The Team all hid behind a bush as three, greyish bulk robotic figures walked by, aiming their arms at Tseng Dangun. Ahsoka, Serra, Jaybo, Rebel and Saw looked up and gasped silently. "Those are B2 Battle Droids!" Jaybo exclaimed, pointing to the bulky robots. Ahsoka looked over to M'gann with a worried expression on her face. "M'gann, can you try to find out where they're going?" she asked. The Martian smiled as she turned completely invisible and flew over to where the droids were headed. She stood in the air as she looked to see even more Battle Droids up ahead! Gasping nervously, M'gann immediately flew back.
The Team waited as M'gann landed on the ground, panting. "There are over a dozen of those killer robots out there!" she stated. Ahsoka gasped as she placed a hand to her mouth. "Why are they stealing political leaders this time? Last time we fought them, they were only collecting males." She pondered to herself. Zatanna turned around and dryly chuckled. "I don't remember ever fighting them." She stated. Ahsoka once again gasped as she looked to the Team. "What are you hiding?" Kid Flash asked playfully. Ahsoka looked down and sighed. "About a month ago, a truce was made between me, Barriss and Cheshire. We were trying to solve this case of Mal gone missing until we stumbled upon an army of Battle Droids." She explained. The Team all nodded and awed in understanding as they turned back to see the Droid Army. Just then, Artemis, M'gann, Zatanna, and Rocket all turned around and widened their eyes. "Wait, so is that why some of our hairs were cut off at the time?" Zatanna asked. Ahsoka gulped and nodded. She saw the girls taking some deep breaths and prepared for the worse until she noticed them turning back to Aqualad. "We need to find someway to take down these droids and save the leaders." Rocket stated. Robin looked to them and groaned. "How can we take down an enemy we don't even know about?" he asked. Jaybo stepped up and cleared his throat. "Would it help if I told you everything about them? I can find a way to reprogram them." Jaybo suggested. The Team looked to each other before looking back to Jaybo and nodding.
Later on, a group of Standard Battle Droids walked up to Queen Perdita and Prime Minister Tseng Dangun. "We demand to know everything about this planet's systems of diplomacy." Droid 238 demanded. Perdita stood up and glared angrily at the Battle Droid. "You'll get nothing out of us!" she exclaimed. Before 238 could respond, Droid 542 held his servo up to his processor and nodded. "We have new orders to execute you if you refuse. Now that you have made your decision, please step very close to each other and be prepared for death." Droid 542 ordered. "Roger, Roger." Droid 238 hyperbolized. The two political leaders stood prepared for their fate until there was another clanking noise coming from behind them. "New orders have been given to let the prisoners walk away." The new Battle Droid said. The two Battle Droids looked to each other as the droid started to stammer. "Uh, these are orders from General Grievous and Count Drake?" he said. Once again, the two Battle Droids looked to each other as the new droid shook his head and groaned. "I mean, these are orders from General Grievous and Count Dooku, happy?" he stated. 238 looked to the new Droid and craned his neck. "What's your number?" he asked. The new droid stood there for a while before looking back to them. "I am Droid 2016, and stop making mistakes." He replied. Droid 542 walked up and held his servos up. "We don't mean any trouble." He said. 238 walked up and nodded. "Yeah, if these orders came from General Grievous and Count Dooku themselves, then there's no need to argue there." He added on nervously. 2016 looked to them, causing them to walk out of the room.
Queen Perdita looked to the ground and walked up to the new droid so that she could destroy it. At that moment, the droid turned around and held his servos up in surrender. "Perdita, don't attack me!" he begged. Perdita placed the rod back on the ground as she helped Dangun up to his feet and looked to the droid in confusion. "How do you know my name?" the young diplomat asked. Droid 2016 looked around and then started to change form. The queen gasped as the droid was none other than M'gann! "We're here to rescue you!" she exclaimed. Perdita and Dangun looked to her and smiled. "Thank you, Miss Martian." The Prime Minister gratefully said. "We now need to rescue the other leaders!" Perdita exclaimed. Miss Martian nodded and started to levitate them to the door. "Let's go!" she yelled. The other members of the Team, who were in the new Stealth Mode, stepped off of the ceiling and started to run with M'gann and the escapees. "Let's meet up with Jaybo and the rest of the Team and get out of here!" Kid Flash stated.
Queen Bee stood in a cell next to the rest of the political leaders. Rumaan Harjavti looked to her and scoffed. "You deserve to be in a cell with the crimes you have made!" he remarked. Zazzala looked to him and sighed. "If we get out of here, I'm going to go after your daughter!" she threateningly said. At that moment, all of the Team burst into the room. "Let's get you out of here!" Rebel yelled as they went to each of the cells. Just then, some Super Battle Droids appeared in front of them. Rocket looked to Jaybo with a concerned look on her face. "How do we take these guys down?" she asked. Ahsoka walked up and the two smirked. "We take them apart until they're reduced to useless scrap!" Jaybo remarked. Connor stepped up and cracked his knuckles. "Good, because that's my specialty!" he quipped. Soon, he and Saw ran into the fray as the Standard Droids and Super Battle Droids started to blast at them.
Queen Bee looked from the two to the rest of the Team. "Get me out of here!" she yelled anxiously. M'gann sent her a glare, causing Ahsoka to take notice. "I should kill you right now." The Martian remarked, making Zazzala step back nervously. Ahsoka calmly placed a hand on her shoulder and shook her head no. "She may be our enemy, but we never leave anyone behind." Ahsoka reminded her. She then looked down to her belt, as M'gann had one of her hilts in her hand. M'gann took some time to think before extending her hand at the lock. Queen Bee stepped back, preparing for the worse, until she heard the cell door click open. Queen Bee looked to her confusingly as M'gann still sent her dangerous glare. "Keep up!" she exclaimed, flying out the door. Zazzala nodded as she watched the Team leave after they took down the Droids.
As the Team and the freed politicians left the cell room, they came across some MagnaGuards. Ahsoka and Serra both stepped forwards and in front of the Team. "Stand back and let us handle this." Serra ordered. With that, the two Jedi activated their lightsabers and charged at the MagnaGuards. The Team watched as Ahsoka and Serra clashed with the MagnaGuards fiercely. One of the MagnaGuards jumped over the Jedi and headed into the Team. Aqualad stepped up as Rebel threw his Darksaber to Artemis. "Get the leaders out of here!" Aqualad ordered as he clashed with the Guard. Robin nodded as he led the rest of the Team out to the exit.
Before they could leave, three Droidekas rolled into the room. Robin looked to his new birdarangs and sighed. "They'll have to do." He said to himself as he threw them at the Droidekas. To Robin's surprise, they started to float very slowly under the Destroyer. Robin's eyes widened as he grabbed Jaybo by the collar. "Fix it!" he threateningly said, but Jaybo just pointed to the flying objects. Robin looked to see that they had passed through the shield of the Droideka and explode right under it! The Boy Wonder gaped as he let go of Jaybo, who just swatted the dust off of him. He then looked over to Kid Flash and nodded. "Try going to them and circling around the Droidekas, it will help them lose their focus." Jaybo advised. Wally shrugged and started to run at his high speed around the Destroyer Droids. The Droidekas looked around as they started to fire everywhere. Jaybo smiled and gestured to Connor. "Get them while they're still down!" he ordered. Connor acknowledged and flew into the air with his new powers and blasted them through the new lenses he was given. The Droidekas looked up as Superboy shot down at them. They exploded as Connor got back up and smiled to Jaybo.
Ahsoka, Serra, Rebel, Aqualad and Artemis regrouped with the rest of the Team and the escapees after they had defeated the MagnaGuards. "Now, let's leave." Queen Bee said impatiently. The Team rolled their eyes and were about to leave until they were fired upon. "What is it now?!" M'gann complained as she looked up into the air. Jaybo and Ahsoka narrowed their eyes and then gasped. "Those are Vulture Droids!" they both exclaimed as the Vulture Droids started to close in on the Team. Artemis handed Rebel back the Darksaber as she reached for her heavy bow. The Team watched as she threw it onto the ground and took out an arrow from her breast pocket. She then aimed it up into the air and shot it, causing the arrow to multiply and shoot at the rest of the Vultures. "We're going down!" Droid 11 stated. "Roger, Roger." The other Vulture Droid said as they clashed together from M'gann and Ahsoka's powers. The Team looked to Jaybo happily as the technician just smiled.
Just then, there was a loud rumbling as a Separatist Tank drove up to the group as a Tactical Droid came out and looked at them. "All possibilities of survival for the Team are seventeen to twenty million, one-hundred sixty-one thousand, three-hundred thirteen." He stated in a monotonous voice. Several other Separatist Tanks moved in and joined up with the Tactical Droid. "Prepare to fire." He ordered. Before the leader could finish, though, all members of the Team and the escapees groaned, sighed and droned, "Roger, Roger." The Battle Droids looked to one another before going back into their tanks and aiming their turrets at the seventeen. Lux and Saw looked to each other with a smile as Rebel threw some grenades to the rest of the Team. "Follow our lead!" Rebel instructed as he and Saw worked together to throw their grenades into the left tank. The Team gaped as they watched it explode. Ahsoka and M'gann nodded as Serra and Connor grinned to each other before running up and doing the same. After they were finished, they started to run away. "Get back!" Ahsoka yelled to the Team. Everyone panted as they ran to the nearby rocks and hid as the grenades finished off the droids and their tanks.
The Team and the escapees looked back to see the remains of the Droids as if they were in a robot cemetery. Kid Flash cheered as he ran over and picked up the Tactical Droid. "Guys, I've just got a live souvenir!" he exclaimed happily. The Team all laughed, as well as Perdita and Dangun as they walked towards the speedster. Rumaan shrugged and joined them as Queen Bee started getting away. "She'll have her day." Miss Martian stated as the sixteen of them celebrated their victory.
Bialya 2142 hours UTC
Queen Bee reappeared on her screen as she looked to the rest of the Light. "So far, my mission was a success. The ORDER was indeed not behind the plot, but it was a new and powerful enemy instead." Zazzala stated. Lex Luthor nodded as Sportsmaster came in with another Tactical Droid. Professor Ivo then walked in and looked to the Light. "With the right rewiring and reprogramming, I should be able to bring up the image of whoever created this robot." Professor Ivo stated. The Light watched as Ivo worked away his magic. All of a sudden, the face of Count Dooku appeared. "I assume that you people are the masterminds of crime of this planet." Dooku remarked. Vandal Savage looked to the Count and nodded. "Who are you?" he asked. Count Dooku looked to him and smirked. "I am Count Dooku, leader of the Confederate Systems. I am here to propose an offer that you cannot possibly refuse." Tyranus stated. The Light started to widen their eyes as Savage leaned in closer. "We're listening, Count." He said. Count Dooku smiled as General Grievous walked up beside him.
Mount Justice 2202 hours ETC
Batman looked over the progress of the Team's mission report. "You all did a very good job." He stated. The Team all smiled as he left the Cave to investigate the Droids. As he left, the Team started to look to Jaybo happily. "Why is everyone looking at me?" Jaybo asked. Aqualad walked over and smiled to him. "If it weren't for your new upgrades, none of us would have survived the attack by the Droids." He stated. Jaybo looked up as he rubbed the back of his neck.
Artemis looked down to him and handed him her bow. "I'll need this to be lighter." She said. Jaybo smirked as the rest of the Team looked to him happily. He nodded as he soon went to work. Ahsoka followed him to his room and pulled up a chair. "Tell me about how you helped my master." She requested. Jaybo smiled and started to tell Ahsoka the story.
Author's Note: Well, I sure do hope that everyone liked this new chapter. I worked really hard on it, and if it weren't for The Christian Jedi's help, I would have never gotten this done.
