Hello again, everyone! This is your author, SuperHeroTimeFan speaking, and I am back! That's right, I have come back to give you another new chapter of my best story yet, Path of the Padawan! First off, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and has helped me to get this far. That goes for The Christian Jedi, Logan GC, JacklyinKarst, YellowFlash67, Scourge from BloodClan, Flaming Dragon, Robin Rani, Falcongal, Swimmer555, All4TheSnow, JediSpiritMonk, Princess9903, Hylianodst, Jenn, Ahsokanerd, Crashingthroughthesnow, chalent4eva, witchsoul531, Useless Whispers, Crystal-Rose-Lover, pootis343, Ahsokalo, KrautYank, Ocnarf, and all of the Guests. Because you reviewed, favorited, followed, and liked my story so much, I have finally been able to get as far as thirty chapters! Now, before I start, I would like to address a fee things asked to me by you all. KrautYank, I promise you, that soon enough and later on in my story, I will be sure to include the characters and everything you have helped me to get, but for now, please be patient and wait for it to happen, I'm not there yet. Chapter 30: Loose Cannons
Omaha Nebraska May 1st 2213 hours CDT
At night, when everyone is fast asleep or up at work, nothing is ever normal. People work late hours, crimes run free, and others like to have fun. On this night, Ahsoka emerged from a Zeta Tube and rode away on her motorcycle. "Whoo!" she yelled, enjoying the nice cold breeze in contrast to the day, where it was now hot all the time. It's nice to lay back and relax, but it's better to enjoy the fun in the world while anyone still can. The young Togrutan, in this case, was having the time of her life.
Ahsoka rode around on her bike late at night like crazy. She had been through quite a lot, and she felt like she needed the time off. Since none of the Team members at the Cave were busy at the moment, she decided to take the liberty to ride around on her bike in a freestyle version. "This is what I'm talking about!" she yelled. She then took notice of a giant ramp up ahead. Revving her engine faster, Ahsoka took the risk and drover her bike up, performing a somersault in the air before landing down on her bike, now back on the ground.
The young Togrutan sighed as she started to remove her helmet and look up to the stars. She let out a playful laugh before falling onto the soft grass, thinking about all that has happened so far since she got here. From Lux's arrival to the sudden appearance of her friends, Serra, Saw, and Jaybo, as well as Novastar's appearance, she was honestly baffled by everything. Then again, who can blame these people for what they do? She thought to herself. She sighed once again as she thought about all the good things happening, instead of what bad things had happened so far. Earlier on, M'gann had taught her to focus on what is positive in contrast to what was not. So far, everything is going fine. Ahsoka thought to herself once again.
At that moment, an explosion went off. Ahsoka gasped and soon took cover afterwards. Taking a deep breath, the Togrutan activated her lightsaber and armed herself with her arm-mounted crossbow. She then jumped over the rock she was hiding behind and aimed her weapon, trying to find whoever was firing at her. As she got up, she gasped at the sight of what was going on. From the looks of it, a young Green Lantern was standing on one of the sides of the place while a girl with orange skin, as well as red hair and green eyes, also wearing crimson boots, silver gauntlets, a violet tank top and a golden necklace. "She looks just like M'gann!" Ahsoka exclaimed to herself. She then looked to the two to see that they were in some sort of fire fight. What's going on? Ahsoka asked mentally.
Soon, the two started to fire not at each other, but at a man flying around in the air. Ahsoka looked up to see a man with red skin and a uniform similar to the ones of the Green Lantern Corps, only yellow. The color sent a chill down Ahsoka's spine, reminding her about how the Dark Side can corrupt people; especially since their eyes were always yellow as well. She then took notice to the man, laughing at their attempts to shoot him down. "You can't stop me, kiddies!" he exclaimed. The female alien-looking figure growled and sent a blast of green energy towards the Yellow Lantern, but he manifested a shield to block it. The young Green Lantern then flew up and attempted to strike at him, but he was knocked away very easily. The Yellow Lantern laughed once again and flew away from the scene, holding some sort of briefcase in his hands.
As soon as the battle was over, the young Green Lantern sent the alien female a very angry glare. "If it weren't for you, Sinestro wouldn't have gotten away!" he spat. The girl stuttered vexingly and pointed a finger to the Lantern. "I already had him, but when you just decided to interfere, he got away!" she spat back. "Besides, you Green Lanterns have failed from time to time in ever capturing Sinestro!" the alien girl spat. The Green Lantern growled and prepared to use his Green Energy Ring to fight back. The alien saw this and lit up one of her hands, being prepared to attack as well.
Ahsoka gasped at this sight, and even more at what the name of the attacker was. Sinestro! As far as I know, he's a downright intergalactic criminal, wanted by the Green Lantern Corps and about everyone else in this universe. She thought to herself. What was in that briefcase he had anyways? She asked herself further on. Before she could think further on, she took notice to the two figures about to attack each other. Someone's gotta stop them! Ahsoka told herself before running off.
Before anything could get out of hand, Ahsoka dashed in front of them and placed her two lightsabers at their necks. "That's enough!" she yelled. The two scoffed at this and ceased fire, powering down their attacks. Ahsoka sighed and looked to the two angrily. "You would have been able to catch that guy faster if you weren't fighting each other!" she scolded. Both of the teens looked down meekly to their feet as Ahsoka crossed her arms and sighed. She first looked to the alien female to the young Green Lantern.
The Togrutan then turned to the young male Green Lantern and placed a hand on her hip. "Would you mind telling me just who you are?" she asked. The Green Lantern scoffed and looked to Ahsoka. "Why, so you can write me up?" he asked snippily. Ahsoka sighed and shook her head. "Young man, that's exactly what I intend to do if you don't answer my question within the next five seconds." She quipped. The Green Lantern sighed and looked up to Ahsoka. "Ahsoka Tano, I am Kyle Rayner of the Green Lantern Corps." He stated. Ahsoka smiled and nodded as she looked at him from top to bottom. "It's nice to meet you, Kyle." Ahsoka replied back.
Ahsoka then turned over to the orange-skinned girl, who was looking down to her feet meekly. "What's your name?" Ahsoka asked. The girl sighed before looking up to Ahsoka and saying, "My name is Koriand'r, but I have chosen to take up the name of Starfire." With that being said, Ahsoka looked to Koriand'r and smiled as she looked to her while placing her hands on the young alien girl's shoulders. "Starfire, it's an honor to meet you." The Togrutan stated. Starfire looked up to Ahsoka and smiled.
Ahsoka then looked to the two and stood back a couple of feet. "Now, what seems to be the problem here?" she then asked. Kyle and Koriand'r looked to each other and sighed before both turning to the Togrutan. "I was on a mission assigned to me by the Guardians of Oa, to track down an ORDER operative named Thal Sinestro. He used to be a Green Lantern like the rest of us until he went rogue for power and became a Yellow Lantern." Kyle started out before turning to Starfire to continue the story. "I was assigned by my planet of Tamaran to track down Sinestro after he had attacked our citadel. The news of the ORDER had spread across the galaxy, so we knew that the ORDER was a threat to everyone." She continued on. "I tracked him here to Earth, but he was waiting for me, and I was caught in a fight with Sinestro until this Green Lantern showed up to apprehend him, but Sinestro got away with some secret weapon." Starfire added on.
Ahsoka gasped and looked to Kyle for some sign of confirmation, in which he nodded yes. "This is my first solo mission, but the other Green Lanterns tell me that I'm not ready for such an assignment yet." He stated. "I'm not a real Green Lantern." He optimistically added on. Ahsoka sighed and shook her head in disagreement. "Believe what others may say about you, but never let that get in your way of honor." She reprimanded curtly. Kyle let out a small smile before looking up to the Togrutan. While Ahsoka smiled, Koriand'r just scoffed slightly and turned away. Ahsoka crossed her arms and was about to scold her for being such a jerk, but something just came into her mind.
Starfire and Green Lantern looked to Ahsoka with confusion before she looked back to them. "What is Sinestro after with this 'secret weapon'?" she asked. Starfire just shrugged at her question and stated, "I just got here, so I know nothing." Kyle then used his ring to pull up a hologram of the world, including Sinestro's flight path. "Sinestro's headed for Area 51, in Nevada." He informed the two girls. Ahsoka gasped and looked to the superpowered teens nervously. "Area 51's chock full of alien fugitives. If Sinestro gets even a handful of criminals to join him and Sylas in the ORDER…" Ahsoka started out, causing Koriand'r to gasp as well. "Then that will make the ORDER unstoppable!" Koriand'r finished up. Kyle groaned and then looked to the two females. "We need to intercept that Yellow Lantern and stop him!" Kyle exclaimed. The rest of the group nodded as they looked to one another. "Let's go." She said. Starfire and Kyle both nodded as all three of them took into the air and flew away.
Watchtower May 2nd 0116 hours ETC
Syrena smirked at the success she had done so far. Ever since the League had fallen for her trick on what her powers were, she was now able to gain full control of the male Leaguers who were interrogating her. As soon as Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan came out, Alakshmi took notice of Black Canary and Wonder Woman eyeing her suspiciously. Her smile soon faded as she thought about what would happen to her if her cover gets blown.
Shaking that feeling away, Flash walked in and sat down at a table across from her. She once again smiled as the speedster glared her in the eyes with his best imitation of the Dark Knight's infamous BatGlare. "What other operatives of the ORDER don't we already know about?" he asked. Syrena smirked and winked one of her eyes. "Barry, I think that every member of the Justice League knows who is in the ORDER, and who is not." She remarked. Flash sighed and slammed his fist against the table. "Alakshmi, what are you getting at here?" he demanded. Syrena sighed and looked Flash in the eyes. "Search your feelings, blur. You know what the right decision to make is." She sadistically stated.
On the outside, Black Canary and Wonder Woman both looked to each other as they kept watching the interrogation go on. "Everyone always falls for her." Dinah retorted. Diana just chuckled and shook her head in disagreement. "Not even Barry would be able to fall for the enemy easily." She spat back. At that moment, Flash walked out and looked to the two female members of the League and nodded. "Syrena knows nothing about what is going on in the ORDER." He stated. Dinah and Diana both raised an eyebrow as he walked away. "Something's wrong here." The Bird of Prey stated, in which the Amazon Warrior nodded. "I say we send in Doctor Fate next." She suggested.
Nevada May 1st 0616 hours UTC-7
As Kyle Rayner flew by himself, Ahsoka decided to have a little 'girl talk' with Starfire. The Tamarean female looked to Ahsoka confusingly as she started to nudge her a bit. "What is it?" Koriand'r asked curiously. Ahsoka sighed and rolled her eyes. "Ever since Kyle stated that he doesn't feel like a real Green Lantern, you have been nothing but a skeptic." The Togrutan remarked. Starfire stuttered and started to look around; trying to avoid the whole conversation, but Ahsoka wouldn't let it be. "What's up, Kori?" she asked. Starfire looked to Ahsoka and sighed. "I know how Kyle feels." She admitted. Ahsoka nodded at this and gestured for her to go on. "When I got here, on Earth, I honestly didn't know if anyone would accept me, to be their new hero." Koriand'r added on. "To them, I must mean nothing." Starfire concluded.
Ahsoka sighed and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know how you feel as well, Kori." The Togrutan stated. Kori gasped silently and looked to the young Ex-Jedi in a baffled look on her face. Ahsoka chuckled and went on. "Yeah, I know. Earth's first Jedi used to be timid." She joked. Kori still kept a frown on her face, but Ahsoka sighed and continued. "When I first got here, I was afraid that a dark past would come back to haunt me." Ahsoka said, thinking back to when she first arrived from out of the Expanded Universe and right into Earth. "However, when Miss Martian taught me how to overcome that fear, and help me to focus more on what is happening right now rather than what had happened in the past." Ahsoka concluded. Koriand'r looked to Ahsoka and smiled, in which the Togrutan soon returned the favor.
Soon, the three landed somewhere in the desert, a couple miles away from Area 51 itself. "We're nearly there." Kyle stated. The rest of the group nodded as they started to walk the rest of the way to the alien facility. Ahsoka looked to its giant structure and shivered with nervousness, thinking about what would happen to aliens who went there. She turned to see that Starfire was feeling the same way, crossing her arms and shivering herself. Kyle turned around and smiled. "There's nothing to be afraid of here." He reassured them. The two girls smiled and walked with Kyle over to the special holding facility.
Just then, a blast of fire was sent down towards the three. Kyle gasped as he saw this one coming and manifested a shield to protect them. Ahsoka looked up and gasped at the sight of the attacker. A large, muscular young man, wearing a green army combat suit with a red star in the center, angrily flying down towards them, landing a couple feet away. "Where is it?!" he demanded in a deep, Russian voice. Starfire prepared to open fire upon him, as well as the Green Lantern, until Ahsoka stopped them and walked up to the attacker. "Who are you, and what do you want?" she asked. The Russian teenager, somewhere around the age of nineteen, looked to Ahsoka and straightened up his position.
"I am Red Star, sent by the Russian Military, to retrieve a stolen weapon taken from us by the ORDER. You are Ahsoka Tano, Jedi Padawan who arrived on Earth four months ago and has joined the Justice League." The man known as Red Star said quickly. Ahsoka's eyes widened as his honorifics and nodded before going onto her question for him. "So, you're here to stop the ORDER, huh?" she asked. Leonid nodded at this and saluted. "Thal Sinestro has stolen one of Russia's bombs. With it, he can detonate an entire factory, like the way Chernobyl went off back in World War II!" he exclaimed.
At that moment, an explosion went off at Area 51. The four looked over as Sinestro started to make his way. Red Star, Starfire and Kyle Rayner all growled softly at this while Ahsoka smiled and stepped forwards. "Who wants to have some payback at our old friend, Thal Sinestro?" Ahsoka quipped. The three teens smiled and smirked, knowing that they were about to be in for a ride of their lives. Ahsoka smiled as she looked back to her team. "Let's go and get him." She quipped. Everyone then chuckled as they soon started to make their way into the facility. "You're going down, Sinestro!" Ahsoka exclaimed, running with the rest of her team.
In Area 51, Sinestro smiled as he looked down to the freed inmates of Area 51. "There was a little collateral damage, Sylas, but what the heck?" Thal said as he spoke into his comlink, talking to Sylas himself. On the other side of the line, Sylas mumbled and chuckled before he replied. "Remember, Sinestro, I need results. It doesn't matter who and/or what kind of alien criminals you find there, you just have to create enough damage to distract the Team from any of our further operations." Sylas told Sinestro over the comm. Sinestro nodded and looked as a Manhunter Drone was set free. "I'll be sure to bring you results, my master." Thal stated. With that, he hung up and went back to his operation, kicking away the fallen guards. He then started to chuckle as he saw the Martian known as Ma'alefa'ak escape and bow down before the Yellow Lantern. "Nothing can stop us now." Sinestro stated to himself.
Just then, twin blasts of green energy were sent his way. Sinestro groaned as he fell to the ground, not expecting the attack coming to him. He growled and turned around, seeing both Kyle Rayner and Starfire holding up their hands to him, while Red Star and Ahsoka walked on the ground towards him. "I'd usually say that you're outnumbered and that you should surrender, but I'm gonna give it to you easy." The Togrutan quipped. Red Star slammed his fists together and smirked. "This will only hurt… a lot." He added on. Sinestro looked to the four teens and chuckled lightly. "Well, just what makes you think that you can stop me, kiddies?" he sadistically asked. Ahsoka just simply shrugged and smirked at this as she aimed her blade at the floating ORDER operative. "Call it courage." She quipped. With that, all four charged at the Yellow Lantern, as well as his alien fugitives.
Ahsoka took on Ma'alefa'ak, both flying into the air and attacking each other immediately as Red Star started to fight off a freed Kanjar Ro. Koriand'r looked to see that a large group of Manhunter Drones were about to set free and scoffed, flying towards them and blasting at all of the robots with all the power she had in her. "Bring it on!" Koriand'r quipped, sending each of the Manhunter Drones across the room like ragdolls. Ahsoka looked up to Starfire and smiled before going back to her own battle. She armed herself with her arm-mounted crossbow and started to strafe at the evil Martian. She then looked to Red Star and nodded. "Heads up!" Ahsoka yelled, throwing her lightsaber across the room and into Kanjar Ro's shoulder. The Space Pirate gasped and fell to the ground, dropping all of his weapons. Red Star chuckled and saluted Ahsoka before going back to take down the evil Bounty Hunter while he was still disarmed. Ahsoka smiled and began to battle Ma'alefa'ak again, but then took notice to the battle between Kyle Rayner and Sinestro.
Meanwhile, Kyle flew into the air across from Sinestro and the two started to circle each other. "Your mentors failed to capture me before, Kylie, and now, you'll see why." Sinestro remarked, sending a blast of energy from his Yellow Lantern Ring. Kyle gasped and created a green shield construct, following a blast of his own from his ring. Angrily, Kyle created a machine gun construct and started to fire upon Sinestro. The fallen Green Lantern laughed at this attempt and just created his shield, blocking away the attack and created two yellow swords soon after. Kyle gulped at this and made a sword and shield construct to counter him. Soon, the two were engaged in hand to hand combat, parrying off one attack from the other. Kyle started to twirl and slash at every attack Thal made, but he was just too quick for the young Green Lantern. Soon, Sinestro blasted away the constructs and kicked Kyle to the ground. He panted from his overuse of energy as Sinestro continued firing upon him. "You'll never amount up to anything Hal or Jon became!" he spat.
Ahsoka looked up to Kyle nervously and started to pant. "Don't let him get to you, Kyle!" the Togrutan yelled, knocking Ma'alefa'ak back and shooting an energized arrow at the Yellow Lantern. "You are a true Green Lantern! You're strong and full of willpower! Now, show that coward what you can really do!" she added on. Kyle looked down to Ahsoka and smiled. He sent her a nod, in which Ahsoka returned the favor. He then looked up to a scowling Sinestro and then looked back to Ahsoka, sending her a smile, in which she returned the favor by winking at him.
Kyle then started to fly back up as Ahsoka went back to battling the evil Martian. Sinestro chuckled and scoffed as he turned back to Kyle. "That Jedi knows nothing about the Green Lanterns. Do you really think you can beat me?" he asked. Kyle looked to his ring before looking back to Sinestro and nodded. "She may be new here, but she knows where her heart is, and she does know the true meaning of honor!" he yelled. Sinestro growled and flew in to attack, but Kyle smirked and aimed his ring at the Yellow Lantern slowly. "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight!" Kyle started out, uttering the Green Lantern oath. Sinestro continued to growl as he prepared his ring for a finishing attack. Kyle continued to say his oath, finishing it up with, "Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"
At that moment, light started to engulf the area. Starfire, Ahsoka, Red Star and all of the other criminals and fugitives in Area 51 looked to where Kyle was, as he was glowing from the powers of his ring. Sinestro let out a small gasp as power flowed through the young Green Lantern. Soon, Kyle was floating in the air, chock full of power and glaring right at Sinestro. "You don't know who I am, do you, Sinestro?" he asked. Sinestro just scoffed at this and ignored the question, sending a powerful blast from his own ring towards him. Kyle knocked it aside and started to float over to the rogue criminal. "I'm a Green Lantern, and you'd better remember that!" he quipped. Sinestro growled once again and charged at Kyle, trying to knock him away, but Kyle held the blast sent towards him and replied with his own attack.
Ahsoka smiled at this as she looked back to Ma'alefa'ak. She then sent a punch towards the Martian, knocking him out cold. She looked over to Leonid and nodded. "Take over from here, Red Star!" she yelled. Leonid nodded and started to attack even more of the fugitives while the Togrutan started to fly up to join in on the higher-ground battles. As Ahsoka flew into the air, she sent Red Star a salute, in which the Russian supersoldier replied back with another salute. With that, she flew off and into the air battles with Red Star taking over on the ground.
Starfire kept blasting upon Manhunter drones endlessly, as they kept increasing endlessly as well. "Do not test me!" she yelled, sending a large blast of energy towards them, which instantly destroyed them all. Just then, another hidden Manhunter drone attempted to kill Koriand'r from behind, but before it had the chance, Starfire turned around and punched the drone in the face before sending it into the air, in which Ahsoka finished it off with Force Lightning. Ahsoka winked to Kori, in which she smiled and waved back. "Kyle needs some help." Starfire reminded the Togrutan. Ahsoka smiled and nodded. "Let's go get 'em!" she exclaimed. Starfire happily nodded as they started to fly off to the battle between the two Lanterns.
Above the entire area, Kyle and Sinestro started to circle each other, waiting for one or the other to attack. Kyle looked Sinestro straight in the eyes and sent a blast of energy from his ring, but Sinestro created a barrier around him and started to send a barrage of attacks towards the Green Lantern. Kyle dodged all the attacks and started to make his way to the Yellow Lantern. He then created a solid fist construct, punching away Sinestro and across the room. Before Sinestro could attack, Ahsoka flew up towards him and sent an uppercut slash across his cheek, knocking the Yellow Lantern back again. Sinestro looked to Ahsoka with a scowl and attempted to run her through, but Starfire dashed right through and sent a powerful energized punch towards him. The three looked to Sinestro and smirked, causing him to growl. "The only fear you sense is your own." Ahsoka quipped. Soon, Red Star flew up and joined them, all preparing to take him on.
Kyle then lit up his ring, preparing for an attack. "Let's do this!" he stated to the other three. Red Star, Ahsoka and Starfire nodded as they started to light up with energy as well. Sinestro growled and shot his own blast, clashing with the blasts of Ahsoka, Starfire, Red Star and the full of hope Kyle Rayner. Kyle focused all of his energy onto the rest of the blasts and fused them, outmatching Sinestro's own blast and sending it back at him, causing him to fall to the ground and his ring to fall off. Kyle and the others landed and nodded. "Your time is up!" Kyle stated, placing some binds on Thal, as well as a gag. "By the name of the Green Lantern Corps, you are under arrest!" Kyle stated. Both Starfire and Ahsoka looked to Kyle and smiled.
Later on, Green Lantern Guy Gardner arrived to take away Sinestro back to Oa. He looked down to Kyle and smiled. "Kid, you've got the guts to become a Green Lantern." He said. "Abin Sur would be proud of you." He added on. Kyle smiled as Guy soon took off to get to Oa. Sinestro just looked down to the four and growled silently under his gag as Gardner took off.
As soon as the two left, Koriand'r looked to Kyle with a smirk on her face. Kyle looked around and raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking there, Tamarean?" he asked amusingly. At that moment, Starfire grabbed Kyle by the shoulder and kissed Kyle on the lips, in which he started to embrace her back and kissed as well. Ahsoka and Red Star both looked with amusement before Leonid cleared his throat. "I should get back to Russia to warn my government of the ORDER's doings." He stated. Ahsoka nodded as Starfire and Kyle continued to kiss.
While Red Star left and Kyle and Starfire continued to make out, Ahsoka started to think to herself. That arrest of Syrena became just too easy. She thought to herself. "She didn't appear to be too affected by our Jedi Mind Trick; and Hawkwoman or Wonder Woman weren't affected by her earlier on, so…" Ahsoka added on. As Kyle and Kori were done kissing, they took notice to Ahsoka as she let out a gasp. "It was a setup!" she exclaimed. The two gasped and looked to each other before looking back to Ahsoka. "We're willing to help you in any way we can." Kyle stated. "Where do we start?" Starfire asked. Ahsoka looked back to them and smiled lightly. "We need to get to the Team and let them know about Syrena!" she exclaimed. The two nodded as they placed their fists out in front of them. Ahsoka smiled and placed out her fist as well, all three bumping them together and breaking off soon after.
Watchtower May 3rd 1138 hours ETC
Syrena smirked as Captain Marvel walked out of the room, finishing his interrogation with her. As Martian Manhunter walked in, she started to smirk even more. Soon, this shall all be known as the rising to power of the ORDER. She thought to herself. When J'onn entered, it started to happen.
Author's Note: I hope that everyone liked this new chapter. It took me a while to get done and I think that I did a good job on it. Usually, I would say that a new chapter will be out later this week, but this time, there's a surprise this week! The new chapter will be coming out in a couple of minutes, or an hour or so! This is for all that has happened so far, with the help from everyone who has supported me, so the next chapter will be out shortly!
