Hey there again, everyone! Guess what, I'm back! That's right, everyone! SuperHeroTimeFan has come back to you with another new chapter of my best story yet, Path of the Padawan! I can't believe that I made it this far already! This new chapter is part of my double chapter exclusive, something that I don't do so often. I hope that you all like this new chapter. Chapter 34: Can't Cage the Beast
Vlatava May 13th 0315 hours UTC
After the Team finished up their business with Queen Perdita, as well as making sure that the traitor known as Nizam was taken away into custody, they started to get back to the Bioship to meet up with the others, talking about how their missions went. All of a sudden, Ahsoka started to feel a pain in her head. What's going on with me? The Togrutan girl asked herself stressfully. M'gann started to take notice of the situation as Ahsoka gripped her head in pain. Ahsoka then looked around to see if anyone else was there, but much to her surprise, there was nothing. You can't hide me away forever, Ahsoka. A voice said inside of her head. Ahsoka gasped as she soon opened up her eyes, looking around. No one was there, but she felt like someone was watching her. Shrugging it off, as well as seeing as no one took notice, she continued to walk with the rest of the Team to the Bioship.
However, M'gann was the only one who did take notice of Ahsoka's sudden and recent episode. I hope that Ahsoka's alright. I'd hate it if something were to happen to her. She thought to herself. She remembered that earlier before the mission, Serra told her about Ahsoka's outburst. I think that she went through something similar to that when we were interrogating that ORDER operative, as well as when she saved Queen Perdita from Nizam. M'gann deducted mentally. As she was lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice that Connor was tapping her on the shoulder until she saw his mouth move. She gasped and shook her head before looking to her boyfriend and asking, "I'm sorry. What were you saying, Connor?"
The Boy of Steel sighed and patted M'gann on her shoulder. "I was asking what was wrong." He stated. M'gann nodded and sighed. "There's nothing wrong, don't worry. I'm fine." She reassured her boyfriend. She sighed as she then looked over to Ahsoka, leaning against a tree. "I'm more worried about Ahsoka; by the way she's acting now." She added on. Connor sighed and patted M'gann on the shoulder once more. "We can see to it that she'll be alright." He replied. M'gann smiled and nodded at this as they started to head into the Bioship.
As they were walking, the sound of a vehicle approaching caught their attention. Everyone prepared to take on whatever was coming their way, but they were relieved to see that it was none other than Jaybo and the rest of the Team on a custom-built Landspeeder. The Togrutan looked to her Team confusingly as Serra and Aqualad came out. Serra showed a sorrowful look on her face as she walked over to M'gann. "This one is going to sting." She stated sadly. Miss Martian turned around with confusion as Ahsoka and Robin walked over to see what had happened. In the Landspeeder was a boy with green skin, as well as a familiar face. "Garfield?" M'gann asked, wanting to know if she had the right boy in front of her.
The boy, Garfield Logan, looked up and smiled slightly to M'gann. "Hello, Megan." He said, quoting what M'gann would usually say. M'gann didn't reply back as she was just in shock. "What the hell happened?" she asked. Garfield sighed as he was lifted off of the speeder and onto the ground by the Martian. "Well, after you gave me a blood transfusion, I started to change, and I got this new skin, some new powers, and–" he started out, but was interrupted by the worried M'gann, now shaking her head.
"I mean what are you doing here?!" the Martian asked more thoroughly. Garfield sighed and looked down to his feet sadly. "Queen Bee happened, months ago." He stated. Ahsoka then growled as she started to pant heavily. Soon, many tree branches, rocks, leaves, and many other objects started to float around as Garfield started to tell his story. "When January started, Queen Bee came to my mother, furious about some event that happened between the Light and the Justice League, and she forced her to drive off a cliff. That's when I started to experience changes, and sadly, see the death of my mother." The young son of Marie Logan stated. M'gann gasped at this news, letting a tear slide down her face as she picked up Garfield. "So, what did my blood transfusion do to you?" she asked.
Garfield sighed and let M'gann put him back on the ground. "As far as I know, I'm just like you." He explained. Serra walked up to M'gann and placed her hand on her shoulder. "I was just told about this. I'm sorry." She said. M'gann nodded before letting another tear roll down her face. "I'm able to shift into any animal, but not other humans or people." Garfield went on. "I feel like a beast." He added on, looking down to his feet meekly. M'gann sniffled back a tear as she knelt down to her biological blood-related brother. "You're not a beast, Garfield, you're a normal boy." She reasoned, but the young Martian-blooded boy shook his head in disagreement. "I might be both." He said. M'gann smiled and patted him on the shoulder. "You're a great person, Garfield." She stated.
The young boy just sighed and shook his head in disagreement. "I'm an animal now! When I get my hands on Queen Bee, I'm telling you, it won't be pretty!" he exclaimed. Ahsoka took notice of this and sighed. She soon knelt down to Garfield and placed her hands on his shoulders. "Revenge is never the right way to solve things." She stated. Garfield growled and knocked the hand away, looking off into the distance. "Queen Bee is holding a meeting in Africa, off the coast of the Vlatavan plains that the Team found me at." He informed them. Ahsoka just raised an eyebrow as she looked over to M'gann. "So, what are you saying here?" she asked. Garfield sighed and turned around to Ahsoka, giving her his best smile. "I'm a big fan of you and all, but since Queen Bee killed my mother, I can't let you get in my way." He stated. Ahsoka and M'gann gasped as Garfield soon morphed into a pterodactyl, flying off to where Queen Bee was.
Miss Martian turned to Aqualad, who shook his head in disagreement. "This isn't our fight, and we can't interfere with this." He reasoned, but M'gann just growled and narrowed his eyes. "He's like a brother to me!" she protested. Ahsoka nodded and placed her hand on M'gann's shoulder. "I'll make sure she stays out of trouble." She reasoned. Aqualad sighed and nodded. "Make sure to do nothing reckless." He reminded them. The two nodded and soon flew off. Serra sighed as she looked from Saw to Kaldur. "I have a bad feeling about this." She exclaimed. Kaldur scoffed as she squirmed a bit with concern. "Don't all of us?" he asked. With that, they took off into the Bioship, following the two girls so that they'd be able to see if anything goes awry.
As M'gann was flying with Ahsoka, the two felt an urge to talk with each other. It was then that Ahsoka started to ask first. "Who exactly is Marie Logan?" she asked the Martian. Miss Martian sighed as she started to change shape. "On Mars, when I still used to watch TV, I became inspired by Marie Logan, who at the time, was on a show called 'Hello, Megan!'." She explained. Ahsoka nodded at this and sighed. "So, you lost your idol, huh?" she asked. The young adolescent Martian nodded as Ahsoka looked down sadly. "I'm so sorry, M'gann. She must have meant a lot to you." She stated. M'gann nodded in agreement as she started to take her turn.
"So, Serra told me that you were having some sort of problems ever since we met up with Raven and Jinx. Is that true?" she asked. Ahsoka shrugged at this as she flew through a cloud. "Do you ever get the feeling that you have some kind of monster hidden within you, just waiting to be unleashed from your soul?" she asked back. M'gann always hated answering a question followed by a question, but since Ahsoka was her best friend, she would let it pass. "I've had that feeling before, when I couldn't keep my emotions in check." Megan stated. Ahsoka sighed and nodded. "That's how I feel." The Togrutan stated, looking down, but still focusing on her flight pattern. "I was so angry to see that Raven and Jinx could have died that I felt like unleashing a beast from its cage within me." Ahsoka added on. M'gann sighed, but soon, they were able to catch up to Garfield, now as a hawk watching over Queen Bee.
Ahsoka and M'gann both landed on top of the mountain that Garfield was on and watched what he was doing. "What's going on here?" the Togrutan Ex-Jedi asked. Garfield narrowed his eyes at the monarch before morphing back into his human form. "Queen Bee is proposing another overseas business deal. I know, because I was there to hear the news." Garfield stated. M'gann started to growl softly as she uttered a curse under her breath. "There must be something more to this whole thing." She remarked. Both Ahsoka and the young Martian-blooded boy nodded at this as they started to listen in on what was happening.
Queen Bee smirked as she stood behind a podium, looking onto her citizens as she prepared to unveil her greatest plans to the public. "My people, today I bring you another opportunity for us to take down the ORDER." She announced, catching the excitement of some citizens. The monarch smiled at this as she went on. "Days ago, we received a shipment of weapons from LexCorp. Lex Luthor, in a partnership with Bruce Wayne's Wayne Enterprises, has agreed to help us in the struggle against the ORDER! I, as well as many other leaders, fear the start of a third World War, and as your great leader, I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening!" she yelled. Everyone then cheered for Zazzala at that very moment, yelling for the demise of the ORDER.
As the interview was going on, Garfield started to grit his teeth, in which Ahsoka took notice to. "Garfield, I know how you feel." The Togrutan stated. Garfield angrily shook his head as he turned to her. "What would you know?!" he demanded angrily. Ahsoka sighed and placed her hands on his shoulders. "I was once feeling the same way you were too!" she yelled. M'gann just watched with interest and caution as Ahsoka did her best to calm the boy down. "I was taken in on a hunting game, fighting for my life!" Ahsoka started out, lifting Garfield up into the air and back on the ground again. "I thought I was alone, but I wasn't!" Ahsoka added on. Garfield started to pant angrily as the two ran across the mountain, changing forms and exchanging words with each other. "You don't know what it's like to lose a mother out of cold blood!" he yelled. Ahsoka growled and jumped into the air, kicking Garfield to the ground as he turned into a myna bird. "You think so?!" she yelled angrily, in which Garfield changed into a bull next and charged at Ahsoka, but she Force-Gripped him and sent him to the side, using the Force to pull down some rocks, creating a cage around him.
"Listen to me; listen to what I am saying!" Ahsoka yelled, causing Garfield to stand where he was. "I lost a master, a senator, a father and sister, and two of my best friends; all because they looked after me and cared for me!" Ahsoka continued, causing Garfield's eyes to widen up with shock. "Kalifa; I helped to guide her through right and wrong, and in return, she helped to save my life, as well as the lives of her friends, at the cost of her demise!" she calmly exclaimed, making Garfield think about what he was doing before Ahsoka went on. "Master Even Piell; I went on a mission to save him from a prison without any permission, and he died trying to protect me!" she yelled. Garfield gasped as she went on. M'gann then flew over, gasping at how Ahsoka was acting. "The Father and the Daughter both gave their lives to help save me, and I carry bits of them with me as I go! Mina Bonteri: mother of my boyfriend. She was the only caring enemy who agreed with the views of the Republic, and a Dark Master killed her!" she yelled on. Garfield started to pant as he now knew what he was about to do, and what it would cost him.
Seeing as how Garfield learned a lot from her, Ahsoka Force-Lifted the cage off of him, running towards him and hugging him soon after. "Trust me when I say this, Garfield; vengeance is never the way." She said, stroking his hair with care. Garfield began to cry soon, and hugged Ahsoka back. "I was nearly turned into a beast!" he exclaimed. Ahsoka chuckled and shook her head as she let go of him, picking up the Martian-blooded boy soon after. "You're a beast, but a good one, as well as a great and magnificent boy." She stated. Garfield smiled as he nodded to her. M'gann flew over and placed a comforting hand on both of their shoulders. "I guess you're a Beast Boy rather than a beast that can't be caged." Ahsoka mused. M'gann smiled, and the three laughed.
After a while, Ahsoka and M'gann both stood up as Garfield looked to them. "I won't get back at Queen Bee, I promise." He honorably stated. Ahsoka and M'gann nodded as they looked down to the stage, now seeing that Queen Bee was leaving and back to her palace. "So, what's our plan?" M'gann asked. Ahsoka sighed and Force-Grabbed a stick, starting to draw out a battle plan. "We don't take on Queen Bee with action, but we take her on with her own weakness." She explained. M'gann started to mutter with understanding, but only Garfield raised an eyebrow at what was going on. "So… what are you saying?" he asked. Ahsoka smirked and started to mess up young Garfield's hair. "We're going to ruin her reputation again." She smirked. The two other teens smiled and chuckled at this, now knowing what they were to do.
Bialya May 13th 1216 hours UTC
Several Shadow Assassins, as well as Psimon and Devastation, stood in a cargo room, waiting for the supplies to arrive from the Separatists through a Boom Tube. Queen Bee soon walked in and looked to everyone before nodding to Psimon and Devastation. "Are the transmissions back online yet?" she asked. Psimon sighed and shook his head no, causing the monarch to sigh infuriatingly. "We cannot contact Count Dooku as of the moment, and with the loss of Professor Ivo, there is no possible way we can get the transmissions back online by ourselves." The telepath stated. Zazzala growled and placed a hand to her head. "I'll be meeting with the Light. When I return, please tell me that there is a change in the progress." She stated. The two metahumans nodded as they went back to their posts.
Unbeknownst to them, Garfield snuck in as a cockroach, crawling around the corners and listening in onto what the Shadow operatives were saying. Suddenly, something started to ring on his belt. "What do you see so far, Garfield?" Ahsoka's voice came. Garfield started to click something back in a way only a cockroach would understand, and after that series of clicks, M'gann chuckled and sighed. "Well, just try your best." She replied back. Garfield chirped back and continued to scatter around, listening in onto every conversation. Soon, he came across two Shadow operatives, talking with each other casually. "Right now, I'm on a Gluten-Free diet. In fact, I've already lost thirteen pounds." He stated, in which the other operative smirked and chuckled playfully. "Get back on task." He ordered. The operative sighed and nodded as he started to go back onto his patrol. "Those Separatist weapons won't be unpacked by themselves." He stated. Everyone nodded as they went back to work. Garfield then started to fly back to the girls as he now listened in on what he thought was the most important news.
Ahsoka and M'gann were both waiting for Garfield to return, both meditating in place, concentrating on some more important matters than the one at hand. Soon, Garfield returned back, still as a cockroach, but then turned back to human. Ahsoka soon got standing up back on her feet as she turned to M'gann, nudging her on the shoulder. "Garfield's back." She said. M'gann murmured for a bit before standing back up on her feet, looking to Garfield with a hopeful look on her face. "Well, Garfield, what did you find out?" the Martian asked. Garfield nodded at this and took a deep breath before speaking. "I don't think that I got much, but all I heard was something about some guys called the Separatists delivering weapons to the Light." He stated. Ahsoka's eyes started to widen with shock at this news, catching the attention of her two Martian-blooded friends. "What is it?" M'gann asked.
Ahsoka grabbed M'gann by the shoulders and started to pant heavily. "Do you remember when we faced those Separatist Droids back a couple months ago?" she asked anxiously, in which M'gann nodded. A while after thinking about it, she gasped in surprise. "The Light made an alliance with the Separatists, and now, they want weaponry from them!" she yelled. Ahsoka nodded as the two began to pant stressfully. Garfield ran towards them and placed his hand on their shoulders. "Everything will be alright." He stated. Ahsoka smiled and patted Garfield on the head. "Thanks for reminding us." She stated. The young boy beamed with pride as Ahsoka took out a holo-projector. "Any attempt we may make on Queen Bee's forces could result in a conflict between the League and the United Nations." The Togrutan reminded the two heroes. Both M'gann and Garfield nodded before Ahsoka went on. "We need to move in stealth, take out the weaponry supplies, and make sure that none of us are caught in this act." Ahsoka ordered. She then looked to her friends and smiled. "Let's go." She said. Everyone nodded as they soon ran off into the warehouse to take down the plan of Queen Bee.
As soon as the three arrived at the warehouse, Ahsoka looked to M'gann and nodded. "Stealth Mode." She ordered. M'gann nodded as the two pressed their Stealth Tech activations, turning completely invisible. Garfield shrugged at this and turned into a chameleon, becoming as invisible as he could. "Our mission should be simple." Ahsoka explained through the Psychic Link. "All we have to do is bomb every weapon, leave the warehouse, and make sure that we don't leave a trace." Ahsoka added on. "We also need to find some way to get Queen Bee to confess that she has been trading illegally." M'gann reminded them. Everyone nodded at this as Garfield then started to run around in his chameleon form. The two girls watched as he began to knock down all of the soldiers, much to their confusion. "What's going on?!" one of the soldiers demanded. Before anyone could respond, one of the soldiers was Force-Lifted off of the ground. M'gann then started to take over with the levitations as Ahsoka made her way towards the cargo, taking out a thermal detonator. Psimon and Devastation soon ran to the area, seeing what was going on, but not who was attacking. M'gann took notice of the two villains and smirked, extending her hand towards Psimon's head. Psimon groaned in pain as Garfield started to scratch Devastation's face. "Intruder alert!" one of the soldiers yelled, but he was soon knocked unconscious by Ahsoka.
Soon, Ahsoka jumped on top of all the cargo and threw her detonator at the crates. "Time to go!" Ahsoka called out through the Psychic Link. The two Martian-blooded figures nodded as they ran out the door, much to the confusion of Psimon and Devastation. Soon, Queen Bee came back and growled. "What the hell is going on?!" she demanded. At that moment, all of the cargo crates detonated on impact, creating a large explosion that was enough to send all of them flying. While the explosions went on, the three heroes started to escape. "We have enough footage of the weaponry that Queen Bee was holding. Let's go." Ahsoka ordered. The three then silently left, leaving Queen Bee fuming with anger as she went back to check up with the Light, now with their plans behind schedule.
Vlatava May 13th 1426 hours UTC
Aqualad and Jaybo both looked over the footage of the weapons that Queen Bee had in her possessions and after a while, they turned to the three heroes who took care of the job and nodded. "You all did well to take down Queen Bee in her plot against the world." Kaldur then stated. Garfield smiled as Ahsoka knelt down to him and rubbed him on the head. "You were excellent out there, Garfield!" the Togrutan stated. Garfield smiled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess I just started out as a boy before, and nearly turned into a beast." Stated Garfield.
M'gann chuckled as she started to mess up his hair. "To be honest, you seem to be a bit of both." She said. Ahsoka laughed as she placed her hand on her hip and nodded her head in agreement. "You're a Beast Boy." She quipped snippily. Garfield started to murmur as he placed his hand to his chin. "Beast Boy, I like it." He said. The rest of the Team began laughing at this as the other two started to join in. Ahsoka sighed as she wiped off a tear of happiness from her cheek. "Come on, let's all go home." She said. Garfield's eyes started to widen up as he looked to the Team. "You mean all of us, including me?" he asked. Ahsoka nodded and patted him on the shoulder. "We're the only ones who can look after you." She stated. M'gann nodded and hugged Beast Boy. "It will be great to have a brother!" she then exclaimed. The rest of the Team watched in amusement as they started to head onto the Bioship.
In the Bioship, Serra looked over to both M'gann and Ahsoka. "Were you able to control your anger?" she asked. Ahsoka nodded and patted Serra on the shoulder. "Thank you two for helping me." She said. M'gann smiled as she hugged her best friend. "I knew you could do it." She enthusiastically said. The Togrutan smiled as she wiped off some sweat from her forehead. "I know, but for now, I think I could use a break." Ahsoka stated. Everyone laughed as they started to head back home. Life seemed to be good for everyone that day, and they had gained a new member for the Team. All was well.
