Percy held Annabeth's hand. After his total and utter fail at rescuing her, he had lost a piece of who he was. He had felt like there was a gaping, painful hole inside him and he had no one to blame but himself. Then last night, Piper had come barging into his cabin screaming and crying that Annabeth had been found unconscious at the camp's border. Percy doubted he had ever moved so fast. It was like a dream, running to the infirmary, seeing her, covered in wounds but it was definitely her, lying on the bed. Will Solace had treated her wounds and assured Percy that it was nothing fatal. Percy had stayed with her all night and now he was just waiting for her to wake up. As if on cue, her eyelids fluttered and opened. Her grey eyes were as bright as he remembered. She looked at him. "Percy?" She whispered. He squeezed her hand. "I'm right here." Annabeth gazed at him for a few moments and then her eyes went slightly out of focus, as if memories were rushing back to her. He saw tears fill her eyes. He frowned. "Annabeth don't worry, you're safe now." She gripped his hand. "We screwed up bad Percy." She told him. "I don't understand." Annabeth closed her eyes. "Im pregnant." It took a moment for it to settle in. Percy waited for her to say, 'Just Kidding!' but she didn't. Instead she said, " I didn't know until yesterday. They've been drinking my blood for a month. I never would have let them if I thought-" her voice broke. "I'm so sorry Percy." Percy was still in shock. He wasn't upset or anything. He had always wanted a family with Annabeth. He thought they would be married first yes, but he had been planning to propose right before she was kidnapped but he had become sick. The ring was still in his pocket. It just took a moment for it to settle in. Then Percy grinned and kissed Annabeth. She seemed surprised by this but wrapped her arms around him anyway. She rested her forehead on his. "Annabeth, this is a good thing! I'm sure the baby's fine." He smiled at her. "Everything's going to be okay." And Percy meant it. He was so happy to have her back, this was just icing on the cake. "Hey, just think of it as a quest." He got off the bed an mock pulled out riptide. "Victory awaits!" He shouted dramatically. Annabeth laughed. Her laugh sounded like chiming bells, and was music to his ears. He picked her up out of bed and carried her outside. It was a beautiful sunny day. Annabeth's eyes shone as she looked at her home. He realized that soon, it would be their child's home too. The thought made him so happy that he laughed like a crazy person. Annabeth smiled at him and kissed him. Percy had a feeling that nothing could ruin this day. Percy and Annabeth didn't tell anyone. Percy wanted to, but Annabeth was against it. In fact, when Percy suggested telling Grover or Thalia, she shouted, "No! I mean, not yet. Soon." And that was it. The camp had a huge party to welcome back Annabeth. But in Percy's eyes this all looked a bit overwhelming for her. By 9:00 he walked her back to her cabin. She had a lost look in her eyes as she said goodbye to Percy. Percy wasn't sure what to say to her to make her feel better. He didn't really know what was going through her head. All he wanted was for them both to be happy. Percy remembered how happy they had been before, staying up all night at parties, having fun at the beach all day. So care free. That gave Percy an idea.
