Chapter 12 Edward POV Today was the day of the funeral. I was somewhat sad but also happy at the same time. I would get to see Bella today. I dressed in a black suit, leaving my tie loose around my neck. Before we left I had gone to the gardens and picked a rose for Bella. I wasn't sure if it would be too much but I really didn't care I figured she could use something to help her get through the day. We took two separate cars to get to the funeral home. Carlisle, Esme and I went in the Mercedes and the others went in Emmett's jeep. As we pulled in front I noticed we were the first ones there, as always. We parked and then walked into the funeral home; we found a spot facing the door and waited. Carlisle and Esme, Emmett and Rosalie, and Alice and Jasper all were having conversations amongst themselves. About five minutes later Ben, Angela, and Mike, along with a bunch of other people came in and were also talking amongst themselves. I stood against the wall, thinking through a new piece I was planning on composing, when her smell hit me. Strawberries, lilac and freesia wafted through the air, I looked up and I saw her. She was the most beautiful creature I ever laid eyes on. Dressed in a simple black outfit, with her hair loose around her shoulder and flowing down her back, my god she looked beautiful. "Hey Bella!" Mike Newton said in a somewhat cheery voice. "Hey Mike" My beautiful Bella said with a slight shake in her voice. "I'm very sorry for your loss, but damn girl you look hot. You changed a lot since the last time I saw you" "Umm thanks." She said definitely sounding annoyed or distracted. "I'll um talk to you later Mike" She continued and walked past him towards us. When she got close enough I heard Carlisle say "Bella" as he reached out his hands to her. She gripped his hands and puller her into a hug. "How are you my dear?" he asked She pulled away slightly, looking into his eyes and said "I'm okay Carlisle; I mean I have had better days but I am okay. I just hope I can make it through without losing it completely" My heart broke I knew this day would be hard for her and so did everyone else. Esme placed a gentle hand on her shoulder "We miss you Bella." Esme said softly. I saw Bella nod silently and pull away as Emmett whined "Is it my turn yet" she giggled a little and hugged my brother. "We are so sorry sis." He said. "Yes we are Bella" I heard Rosalie say in a soft voice, and she hugged them both. My pixie sister waited very patiently for her turn with Bella. Bella hugged her tightly and I noticed Jasper sent a wave of calm towards her. "You look beautiful Bella" Alice said. "I taught you well." Alice giggled a little as Bella smiled a bit more. "Thank you" answered Bella. By the time she turned to me I had realized that she purposely left me for last "We'll give you two some privacy. Let us go find seats, my sweet family." Carlisle said. She mumbled thanks as everyone headed to the chapel. She stood there for a minute or two staring at the ground. "I brought this too you" I said holding out the rose I had picked for her. She looked up and smiled "Thank you Edward. Does Esme know you took this from her garden?" "Well she does now, but she has no problem with it. I just wanted to bring you something to help you get through the day." "Edward…" she said placing her hand on my arm, I stiffened a little and she started to move her hand away and I grabbed it with my own. She didn't fight me so I took it as a good sign. "Edward… you being here is going to help me get through this. You don't understand how much I appreciate it." She said. While she was talking she had intertwined our fingers. It felt so right to have her fingers there, but then again it felt so wrong. I started to pull my hand away but she gripped it tighter. "Edward I know what I said, but I am still going to stand by it but today I need you. I need this…"She said gesturing to our intertwined hands. "Can you do that without thinking that you've won me back?" "I… um…." I hesitated, looking at our hands and then at her, "Yes, my love, I can. Let me know if it is too much though and I'll back off." She nodded. "We should probably get in there I'm sure the service is starting soon." I said. I started to pull away again and was surprised when she pulled me into a hug. I paused and then I wrapped my arms around her. "I love you Bells, I will win you back." I said "I know Edward, I know." She said pulling away. She looked at the rose and then grabbed my hand and we walked into the chapel.
