Chapter 14 Bella POV We got to the car and he opened my door for me like a perfect gentleman. At this rate he would have me back in no time. I cursed silently. This boy was going to be the death of me. Once he shut my door he made his way to the driver's side of the car and slid in. Silently he started the car and pulled out of the driveway and down the street toward his house. It took about 2 minutes later we pulled onto a driveway of sorts that led to his house. Thirty seconds later he stopped the car in front of the mansion shutting off the ignition and handing me the keys. "Edward I cannot thank you enough for today. You didn't have to." "Bells it's perfectly okay. You needed me and who am I to turn away someone in need." He said with a slight smile. "We should go in, Esme already has meal prepared for you and I don't think it'll be any good cold." "Alright" I said wearily. I wondered if I had made this too hard on him. Why am I becoming a softy? I was so firm and stood my ground when I had told him off. How come I could not continue being that way? It's because of him. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and he loved me so much and did not turn me away when I needed comfort. Damn this boy. Stop Bella! You need to stop! You have to stand your ground. Remember he broke your heart and caused you so much pain. You cannot let him back in to your life at the drop of a hat. My inner voice yelled at me. I nodded because I knew it was right. I reached for my door to find it already open and Edward holding it open for me with my backpack slung over his shoulder. "Thanks" I said "Anytime, my love" He said as I stepped out of the car and headed towards the glass pained French doors. "Bella you're here!" I heard Emmett shout from the living room as the pixie showed up in front of me. "You must be hungry huh?" She asked as my stomach rumbled. I smiled "yeah I must be, stupid vampire ears." I said giggling. I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the bar and watched Esme work around the kitchen. "Hello again Bella" she said as she turned and place a plate filled with food in front of me. "Dig in" she said smiling. "Thank you" and I did what she told me. A few seconds later Emmett was in front of me smiling. I could see the gears turning in his head "there's something different about you." and he scratched his temple. "'Hmm… let's see, my parents just died so that could be a lot of things." I said trying to mess with him "I'm not wearing black, my hair is up, no makeup you can see my wonderful body is perfectly in shape, I mean I did run 12 miles today…" "Holy shit 12 miles! Isn't that a lot for a human? I mean how long does that even take, I could do it in like one minute" I laughed. "It's really not that bad Em. I'll be going out tomorrow morning if you would like to come with me, but you can't use your freaky vampire speed." I said taking a bit of food "I'll think about it. But I still can't put my finger on what is different about you. There is something with your face" I smiled "Just keep thinking about it buddy. It'll click here in a minute" I finished eating and he was still thinking. "Em, don't hurt yourself buddy." "I'm not. But I still can't figure it out" Just then Alice came in and said "hey Bella when did you start wearing glasses" "THAT'S IT" his voice boomed I laughed and said "good job Emmett. And I started wearing them about six months ago when I moved to California. I was fine but about two weeks into the move I started having trouble seeing when I was driving, or in class, when I actually went that is. But since I was struggling I decided it would be best to go see and optometrist and low and behold…glasses." "Well you look beautiful" Alice said "You really changed when you California didn't you Bella…" "Alice!" I heard Esme tsk "No… I mean not that that's a bad thing. We still love you just the same." I said starting to walk to the living room, a second later Alice was next to me and then I heard Edward say "Bella you do know that he's gonna be very upset when you beat him right?" "I know but that's what makes it all the more fun, because he's gonna be hilarious." "Yeah it is really funny when he gets mad, and because it's you he can't be mad for longer than a minute."
