The next day had come all too quickly for Blossom. She already had many adoring fans and they were all coming back tonight to see her even if she wasn't performing.
"What you did last night was wonderful Blossom!" Bubbles said walking alongside her. A puppy in a blue tutu was trailing Bubbles. Bubbles named the dog Octi after its black fluffy spots that resemble ink. Blossom couldn't really understand the name, but the puppy was cute and Bubbles was happy.
"Oh Bubbles, think nothing of it. There's much more to come tomorrow night." Blossom said opening her pink parcel.
"Tomorrow night?" Bubbles asking giving Blossom a worried look
"Seems like we have a surprise act tonight. Father told me I wouldn't be performing tonight." Blossom said walking casually ahead
"Oh! How exciting!" Bubbles said skipping along with Octi.
"Very." Blossom said
"Hey Pink!" Blossom turned around at the sound of the familiar voice, she sighed and turned around to see Brick running towards her
"Who's this?" Bubbles asked pointing at him
"Ah my dear lady. I'm Brick." Brick said taking Bubble's hand and kissing it. Bubbles giggled and turned to Blossom Whose face showed signs of jealousy.
"Well I can see that you two know each other. I'll see you around Blossom." Bubbles walked off into a tent and Octi followed after her his small tail wagging.
"Can I help you?" Blossom said annoyed as she closed her parasol and looked towards Brick.
"I was wondering about that lunch, or dinner whatever suits your fancy." Brick said with a sly look
"Look I'd love to but-"
"Then it's settled! Meet me in an hour by the gates I'll have a carriage waiting, and I know a lovely little café in town."
Before Blossom could retaliate and say no Brick ran off and Blossom was left in the middle of the circus wondering what she had just gotten herself into.
Blossom ran back into her trailer to get ready and prepare for her lunch with Brick. When she arrived she found Bubbles waiting there with Buttercup
"SOooooooo..." They both said as she walked in. She blushed seeing their eager eyes
"He just asked me to lunch nothing big, stop gawking at me both of you!" She walked over to her closet and picked out a light pink dress and put it on over her corset. The dress had a lace ribbon at the front which matched her red ribbon that sat on top of her hair.
"Have fun!" Bubbles giggled as she left Blossom
"Be careful." Buttercup muttered as she closed the trailer door
Blossom looked at the clock on her wall and saw that it was already ten minutes to one. Brick would be at the gates soon. She grabbed her parasol and ran to the front of the gates. The ribbons on her dress flying behind her as she ran.
When she arrived she saw brick waiting there in a black suit and a red tie. She noticed his change in attire and he said "I don't wait to look like I'm from the circus in town, too much attention." He shrugged and she walked up to him he took her arm and they walked out the gates. She noticed that Brick had a black carriage already waiting for them and they stepped inside.
The air smelled like roses and Blossom noticed and smelled the air the whole way into town. The trip was a longer one than she had expected and there wasn't much talking besides Brick making a joke and her laughing in response. In the town he led her to this small café which only served biscuits and many types of tea.
They sat by the window and watched the birds on the patio slowly land and fly again when children would run by. "I wish I was free like a bird." Blossom said looking at the children "Or even better that I hadn't grown up so fast." Blossom sighed as she stirred her tea
"I take it growing up in a carnival made growing up fast?"
"Well I didn't exactly grow up in a circus, although you could say my life was like one." Blossom laughed then began to speak again "My father began to train me when I was very young, after my mother died he took care of me and taught me magic and everything I know. I'm grateful… But never once in my life have I ever actually felt like a child." Blossom sighed as Brick put his hand on hers
"Same here… Except I was adopted by Mr.. uh I mean my father and ever since then he's taught me how to be a scholar. Not much of a life I've really had this Circus is my only experience away from my actual home."
"It seems we have a lot more in common than I thought." Blossom said giggling
"Was that a giggle?" Brick said with his signature smirk
"Was not!" Blossom said blushing
"Hey lets go someplace else I want to show you something." Brick said standing up and giving his hand to Blossom who took his hand and stood up with him.
They walked further into the small town until finally they got to a huge field full of daisies and other various flowers "Oh Brick it's so beautiful!" blossom cried letting go of his arm and running towards the field laughing as the flowers flowed around her
Brick gave a small smile and followed her out to the field. Blossom had already found a spot and sat down touching the flowers with her arms. Brick came up and sat down next to her "So how do you like it?"
"Oh it's wonderful; I've never seen something as beautiful as this. Living in the city means you don't get a lot of nature."
"Yeah it really is something, isn't it?" Brick said looking out into the vast field
"Yes it truly is. Thank you for all of this."
"Hey you're very welcome Blossom." Brick said smiling at her
"Race you up that hill?!"
"You're on!" Brick said running after the red headed girl she was already a couple feet away from him when he tackled her to the ground and they began to tumble back down the hill they had already run up.
Blossom and Brick were laughing all the way down until they landed back at the bottom. Blossom was on top of Brick her bangs falling on her face. She was laughing until she looked at Brick who was staring at her. She sighed as Brick reached his hand up and brushed away her bangs from her face. He left his hand on her face as he continued to look at her, her hand was on his chest.
He began to reach up and she began to go in, until she backed off of him and brushed her dress
"I'm so…so sorry." She said blushing as she looked away
"We should get back it'll be dark and then we'll be late for our own circus." Blossom laughed as Brick began to stand up
"Yeah… You're right…" brick said looking at the field again
"We should come back here sometime though." Blossom said smiling
"Yeah…We should." Brick said with a sad smile.
They walked back into town and to the carriage in total silence. They rode in the carriage and arrived at the circus at sunset. The two said bye and separated ways.
Blossom began to get ready for a small show and soon after she would see the next main event.
At night the visitors began to arrive. Children, young and old gathered into the big top to see what wonders the circus could possibly bring on its second night into town.
Blossom made her way into the tent wearing a dark red cloak that hid her face.
All of a sudden there was fire. Then came the unmistakable uneven red hair that she knew.
It was Brick. He was her opponent and she had let him in and let her guard down. She suddenly became angry that her palms turned cold and ice came from her hands. She stuffed her hands into the sleeves of her dress and began to watch him work his magic.
Of course he believed in magic, he was magic himself. He was the only magic that could kill her and he knew. He must have known who she was the minute she stepped on stage last night. She cursed under her breath.
Brick started off by creating a dragon out of fire. Its flame licking at the patrons in the first few rows but they didn't flinch. The fire turned into a cold blue color whenever it came towards the people. He could control it very well. Only causing it to destroy when he said he could.
Blossom ran out, wanting to see nothing more of this.
After the show Brick went to see where Blossom was looking for her in her usual spot by her trailer. Instead he found her watching Bubbles and Octi perform a dance with Octi balancing on a ball.
She was wearing a light lacy dress. The cold evident on her hands showing signs of the harsh weather by shaking. "Hey Blossom!" Brick said as he walked up to her but she did not turn to look at him, instead she walked around the corner into an unoccupied tent.
Brick walked in and found the tent cold only to look around to find it completely covered in ice sculptures. Some of mystical animals, others of people, some of the circus workers. Roses lined the floor and icicles hung from the top of the tent. Brick was amazed by all this work Blossom must of done this while he was busy.
HE looked around for her and found her building an elaborate rose.
"It's your move now Brick." Blossom said not turning to face him
"What do you mean?" Brick said as he walked up to her
"You're my opponent." Blossom said
"Yeah so?!" Brick said as he came and turned blossom around to face him
"How dare you try to seduce me?" Blossom said slapping his face ice cold hitting him and making him take a step back.
"Blossom I swear I didn't do any of that to hurt you!" Brick yelled as she backed away from him
"Is this a game to you brick?! This is serious. We're supposed to fight each other not fall in love!" Blossom said with tears forming in her eyes
"Stay away from me! We're no longer friends. Consider me your enemy." Blossom Growled as she stormed out of the tent
Once she left brick was left there with shock he picked up the rose she was just working on and held it in his hand
"You want an enemy Blossom? Fine, I'll give you and enemy." Brick's hands flared and the rose melted in his hands. And he walked out of the tent his hands steaming with the fire that was just about to be lighted.
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
