Chapter 8: Shadows

Day 2: Part 3

If future Jonno had been concentrating on his surroundings at that time maybe he wouldn't be running for his life from a black humanoid creature that was not far behind him, all the creature had to do was stretch his arm out and Jonno would be dead.

Jonno knew at some point he would have to stop and fight this thing like he had with every vampire he had faced. But Jonno wasn't sure if this thing was a vampire or not, it wasn't as fast as one and it had no trouble going out in the sun, he wondered what else it could do.

You might be wondering why the future Jonno is running from a shadow creature and not with Future Count and Past Renfield, well I will tell you. When Jonno was day dreaming, under that tree, one of those shadow creatures pounced on him, it must have been there beneath him that entire time, waiting to attack. Jonno remembered the Count awaking with a start and shooting a fire ball at the creature but it was not down yet, it was daylight, the Count would have to stay under the tree for the sunlight could burn him and Jonno knew that Renfield, although from a different time line would stay with his master. So it was up to Jonno to make a distraction, now the creature was chasing him through the forest dodging from tree to tree, trying not to trip over stray logs or branches or slip over wet mud.

Suddenly he came to a stop as he reached the lake, he looked behind him the creature was advancing towards him he looked back at the lake, could these creatures swim? No time to think about that now he could swim for it or fight his way out.

He reached into his backpack and took out his UV gun and flicked the switch he could feel the electricity run though the machine as he pointed it at the monster.

"Bring it on Dark creature."

Underneath where Jonno was batting the evil shadow monster Future Vlad, Past Chloe and Ingrid walked down the never ending corridor that never gets darker or light just the same dim light making sure they don't bump into any walls, in fact knowing Vlad's luck he wouldn't be surprised if he came to a dead end and this walk would have been for nothing.

Suddenly he heard a small cry and crash coming from behind him; he turned to see past Chloe lying in a heap on the ground.

"Chloe!" Vlad ran over to the small breather girl and knelt down beside her "Are you ok, I thought you said you're leg was better?" Vlad enquired checking Chloe's ankle over again.

"I'm fine, I just tripped that's all" Chloe smiled reassuringly, no she wasn't, she was still in pain but Chloe didn't want to be a bother they had more important things to worry about than a whingy little girl with a sore leg, of course Future Vlad wouldn't think of it like that, she found it sweet that he worried about her, he was very different from his younger version but there were a lot of things that were very similar.

"Then stop tripping and starting walking" Ingrid snapped, Chloe sometimes forgot Past Ingrid was here she had been quiet recently which rather surprised her.

"Ingrid, she fell from the ceiling yesterday, leave her alone" Vlad scowled "I should have known better that you weren't up for it Chloe, I'm sorry." Vlad turned his head in shame keeping his eyes to the floor with his mouth in a straight line, Chloe couldn't have Vlad feeling guilty about this, it wasnt his fault!

"No Vlad I want to keep going" Chloe said "We won't get any where if we just keep resting."

"And we won't get anywhere if you keep pushing yourself" Vlad argued back "We will rest for a while then we will keep going" Vlad shot a look towards Chloe and Ingrid which meant no arguing.

Both girls weren't happy but there was no arguing with Vladimir Dracula.

"When will that stupid slayer come back?!" The future Count asked in annoyance.

"I'm surprised that you would worry about a breather, master" Renfield said in confusion "Most of the time you wish them harm, or death."

"You don't get it do you? This might need all of us to get out and if something happens of either one of us.." The Count didn't want the risk of being trapped in this place forever without blood, or the newspaper or his throne.

"Don't worry master, I'm sure the young slayer is just fine in fact I bet he has destroyed that beast already."

Renfield are you physic? Because that is what exactly what Jonno had done, it was artificial light that killed the creature, not UV light but like a camera flash. You see Jonno had tried everything he had with him, the UV gun had no effect, it had no reaction to garlic, hard objects like stakes went right though it, another object that was in his backpack was a digital camera. From his survival training you must use anything that you have on you and that means anything.

But what could he do with a digital camera? Take its picture? Maybe if he put the flash on he could shock the creature, he bet the monster had never had its picture taken before. He thought of all this in a matter of seconds before he switched on the camera the creature was only a mere second away from him, with a flash he took a picture of the shadowy monster.

He heard an inhuman scream, kind of like a cat being tortured then it was gone. He looked back at his camera taking a look at the picture that had just been taken but there was no monster or sign that the creature had been there, it was nothing but trees and brushes.

"Now I need to get back to the Count and Renfield maybe one of them have some answers."

"Woof Woof" Future Vlad, Past Chloe and Ingrid had only been resting for five minutes when they heard a barking sound coming from inside the walls.

"Is it just me or do I hear a dog?" Ingrid asked in confusion.

"What would a dog be doing here?" Chole turned to Vlad like he had all the answers.

"I think I know who it is" Vlad said getting up from the floor, the barking sounds where getting louder and were turning into growls "it's ok Wolfie it's me Vlad!" Vlad called out.

"Who is Wolfie?" Ingrid asked before the wall in front of them slid open, there was noise or rumbles that you see in those movies, it slid easily and quietly like a sliding door and a small boy appeared behind it.

"Ladies," Vlad said "let me introduce you to my little half brother Wolfie."

Another fast chapter I hope you are enjoying it so far and that I'm keeping it interesting. I would like thank everyone again for the reviews I'm getting u guys make my day.

Someone asked me if Malick will be returning and the answer is no, Malick won't be returning nor will anyone else the only character that needs to show up is Past Magda.

Also I don't know when this will be, probably after Easter I'm going to do a rewrite of one of my old young dracula fic it's called Uncle Vlad but it won't effect this one this fanfiction will still be regularly updated so no worries :)
