*Continued Flashback*

My eyes flashed open and I squinted in the light, as my vision cleared I saw Kol curled up in the corner, tears falling over his eye lids. I grumbled and cupped my forehead, I felt on edge. I touched where Mikael stabbed me, I had completely healed. I jumped up in a panic as I remembered…He killed me.

Kol became startled and appeared beside me, his glossed eyes darted side to side, as if he was trying to make sure I was real. He held my cheeks before kissing my passionately and pulling me into his chest. I couldn't hear a heartbeat; I screamed and shoved him back.

"I-I'm dead" I cried and covered my mouth "He killed us all, you were all dead" I mumbled through petrified tears "Where in hell am I?"

"It's ok!" He stepped forward but I wacked him back with anything I could find, he frowned and almost growled at me. "Melisa"

"Who are you?" I shrieked loudly "Don't mess with my feelings for Kol"

"It's me!"

"You liar! I hate you!" He pushed me down, holding me tightly I felt my bones click. I kicked him repeatedly but he stayed unmoved. I cried in pain, he immediately let go. I shoved him out of the way and out of the room, I ran through their house.

"Stop her!" Kol shouted out, I was soon pinned into the wall by Rebekah. Her eyes filled with happiness at the sight of me.

"Melisa? I can't believe it's you!" She gasped and tried to hug me; I pushed her back and cornered myself away from her. "It's me"

"Stop lying!" I screamed and wept as her and Kol stepped closer to me, their eyes filled with concern. "Where is mama?" I ordered as Elijah and Finn entered the room to see the commotion, they seem startled to see me.

"She's dead…" Elijah tried to explain; I grabbed the nearest sword and pointed it at them all.

"SO AM I!" I barked, they looked at each other. Something caught my senses, I suddenly felt jittery, and all I wanted to do was drink. I shook my head free from these monstrous thoughts and returned my attention to the creatures around me. But I just couldn't concentrate, the smell of blood consumed my mind.

"What is going on!" Mikael charged in and almost fell back at the sight of me; my arms began to shake uncontrollably as he came towards me. I dropped the sword and ran out of the door, the sunlight blinding me. "Esther!" I heard him shriek as I tried to run; I stopped at Kol's screams. I turned around to see his burning and blotchy skin before me.

He grabbed me tightly and carried my back to the house faster than I could imagine, he fell beside me once we reached the darkness. His skin quickly healing in front of me, I frowned. He growled as he breathed heavily.

"Don't make me do that again Melisa" He sat up and sighed.

"Ayanna was right" Esther blubbered as she observed me. "She is one of you"

*Present Day*

Days and weeks had gone by since I entered the Other Side, I was stuck in this solitude and I hated every moment of it. I felt like I had been walking for miles, I probably had. Another night crept in and I watched as a harsh wind picked up, I hated not being able to feel anything.

I froze when I suddenly felt it; I looked down at my palms, what was going on? I crouched down and touched the ground, I felt it. I fell to my knees and began crying.

"Melisa?" I jumped up to see Daniele; I smiled and ran towards her pulling her in tightly. I cried and touched her arms.

"How is this possible?" I asked in confusion, she frowned at me. "Are you?" She shook her head and quietly mumbled a spell, she shot her eyes open.

"Oh my God!" She gasped "The veil has been broken"

"How is that even possible?!" I asked in frustration as we charged down the streets.

"You've missed a lot" She quickly pushed me to the side, two young men walked past holding stakes "Hunters"

"Tell me what's going on!" I ordered

"They killed Kol to complete the hunters mark"

"As in the Five? I thought Niklaus killed them all? I was there!" She looked down and shook her head.

"They released Silas and now he wants to release hell on Earth" She stepped back once the hunters were out of sight, and began to walk again. "Kol is trying to keep the veil open"

I appeared in front of her once she said his name, I scowled.

"What did you say?" She remained silent "Kol is here?"

"Didn't you meet on the other side?" I shook my head.

"I have spent all this time alone, and you tell me that he hasn't been looking for me?" She pressed her lips together.

"It isn't like that"

"Then how is it like!?"

"Kol made a deal with some witches in the 16th Century…If you ever died you would go past the Other Side and be at peace" She frowned "That's why I'm shocked to see you, you shouldn't even be here"

"I don't understand, all supernatural go to the Other Side?" She shook her head and continued to walk.

"You have a reason to be here, that's why you didn't pass" We reached the centre of Town. "Kol wants to raise the dead so that he can find you again, if he knew you were already here he would stop this madness"

"Where is he now?" She shrugged her shoulders.

"I haven't a clue, but it wouldn't take a genius to guess he's wherever the Gilbert is"

"Thank you Daniela…"

"Is he there?" She asked after me "Josh"

"If I see him, I let him know" She smiled and looked down "Good luck Daniela, thank you for everything you've done for me" I quickly ran off before she could say another word.

*Flashback*

Our laughing echoed through the halls of the English Country House, how I loved the 18th Century. I snorted with laughter once Kol had caught up to me; he lifted me up and spun me around. We fell to the floor laughing as Klaus ordered us to stay quiet. I nibbled at my lip and looked into Kol's deep brown eyes, I sat on top of him and pinned his wrists into the wooden floors.

"Ooo, playing dirty now are we?" I giggled into his neck as I passionately kissed it.

"We've already made too much noise today Kol!" I jokingly protested as he flipped us over "Wouldn't want Klaus to be too mad now would we" I winked and pouted. He smirked and pressed his lips against mine, we almost became too lost in each other when Rebekah shrieked and spun around.

"Can you stop doing it everywhere?!" She barked, we both smiled at each other.

"Can't we be in love Bekah?" Kol jumped up before helping me.

"No! Not in every room in this house!" She protested as I straightened out my dress

"On the contrary sister, we haven't used your room yet" She cringed at Kol's words before storming off into the drawing room. He grabbed my hand and spun me around. "To the gardens darling?"

"I'll go anywhere with you my love"

*Present Day*

I stumbled through the dark graveyard, the last place that I checked. I tapped the headstones happily; it'd been so long since I was able to touch something, anything.

"Do it Kol" I stopped dead in my tracks and turned my head, it was the doppelgängers voice. I ran in the direction I heard it from in desperation.

As I reached her I frowned at her bloodied face, I stepped closer and realized it was Kol holding her tightly. I clutched my heart at the sight of him.

"As you wish darling…"

"Kol" I simply said, his name on my lips mad me smile. I observed his body freeze, he slowly turned around still clutching to the girls throat.

"Melisa? What are you doing here?" He frowned with confusion, but his eyes glossed with the joy.

"Seems like my reason to stay was too great for me to pass" I slowly took a step forward "Come with me Kol, end this" I stayed calm, but he shook her violently.

"She's the reason why you and I are dead Melisa, she's the reason you watched me die and I watched you"

"You watched me die?" I asked with a furrowed brow "And you did not stay for me?" He pressed his lips together and looked away.

"You shouldn't have stayed on the other side!" He threw the girl down but pressed his foot down hard against her stomach.

"As I said before Kol, I'd go anywhere with you…And if that means staying here then so be it, I love you and I always have" He kept his eyes fixed to the floor as I walked over to him. "Let her go, it isn't worth it"

"I want revenge" He growled

"Revenge isn't worth it, we've had our revenge" I touched his face and turned it towards the grave. "I killed her brother for you, and you know what. It didn't heal my heart; no amount of revenge would've brought you back to me" I took his hands and looked at him lovingly. "I've watched you die as many times as you have watched me, but we're together now"

"I want to live again with you, I've tried to tear down the veil so we can stay here" I touched his face lightly.

"We were meant to die 1000 years ago Kol, we don't belong in this world" He tried to look away "This is our new journey, take it with me"

"I still don't understand how the spell didn't work" I sighed and looked away.

"The only thing keeping me in the hell of the Other Side is you, I cannot be at peace if I don't have you by my side" His eyes watered "What is keeping you here?"

"Nothing now" I smiled and kissed him with all my love. He removed his foot from Elena and stepped away. She rolled onto her back and breathed heavily through her pain.

"I could never tell you how sorry I am" I looked into her eyes "And I could never try, you have people who love you…you won't always be sad Elena"

I turned back to Kol and took his hands, his eyes fixated on the girl, I knew that look too well. He gave it to Mikael constantly after he killed me. I dragged him away from the graveyard, he barely looked at me.

"It's hard to believe this used to be where the settlement was" I muttered as I glanced towards him, he kept his eyes away "Are you really going to throw a mood just because you didn't get to kill her?" He remained quiet so I let go of his hand "Go, go and kill her then. But I will not wait for you again, I've done enough waiting" I closed my eyes and let a tear go before walking away from him.

Suddenly I was pulled back, our chest colliding. He stared into my eyes and ran his finger over my lips before planting his kisses on them. He pulled back and smiled.

"I will never leave you again Melisa" I smiled and buried my face into his chest. "I love you, and I always have" As we continued to kiss passionately I paused, our lips millimetres apart.

"I love you Kol, always and forever" He smiled and brought me back to his lips, he held me tightly as if he would never let me go.

The sun rose as we kiss, the light rays engulfing us. And for once, my life ended with light.
