Chapter 4
*4 Weeks later*
"Hey Bells, what are you doing this Saturday?" I think for a moment, "nothing I guess, what do you have in mind?" Me and Jacob have been hanging out a lot these past weeks and we really got to know each other. He laughs, "you know me to well Bells. This Saturday we're having a bonfire on First Beach, Sam asked if you wanted come." I have never been to a bonfire at La Push, so this invite suprised me.
"I thought only locals could come to your bonfires?"
"That's the rule, but Sam asked if you want to come, since you know everything already. If al these outsiders would come, then we will never be able to talk freely."
"I'd love to come Jake! What time do you want me to come?" In my head, I'm already going through my homework, let's see, I can finish maths on Thursday and I'll have to read that chapter for english some other time.
"If that's okay with you?" I snap out of it and realise that I completely missed Jacob's question. "I'm sorry Jake, I zoomed off for a second, can you repeat that?"
He lets out a bark of laughter, "you're always thinking, I was asking if you'd like to spend the whole day with me? The other guys will be there to and I know their dying to meet you," he trails off, "well, except Paul maybe." A week earlier I met Seth, Quil and Jared. They were really nice and fun to be around.
"Yeah, sure. I'll be at your place around 10?"
"Yep, that's fine. I'll see you tommorrow!"
"What's tommorrow?" I'm confused, it's only Wednesday, have I forgotten something?
"Tommorrow there's a game on, my dad and I are coming over remember?"
Even though he can't see me, I still blush. "Sorry, that's true. See you tommorrow!"
I look at the clock, let's start on marinading that chicken.
I put the chicken in the oven and take out a book. I sit down on the couch and start reading, after I make sure that the cooking alarm is on. It won't be the first time, that I'm so immerged in my book that I forget everything around me, including dinner.
I jump when the alarm starts ringing. I put a marker between the book and get up. I get the chicken out and start on the vegetables.
I have just set the table when I hear my dad's cruiser. The front door opens and my dad steps through. He shrugs his jacket off and puts away his gun. Then he washes his hands and sits down. He sniffs and smiles, "smells good Bells, what is it?" I smile, "chicken with rice and vegetables."
While we're eating dinner I tell him about Saturday. "So, Jacob called me today, he invited me to come to their bonfire on Saturday." Suprised, my dad looks at me. "Really? That's cool, I guess I'll just order pizza or something. But that's really cool, I've never been to one of their bonfires."
"Me neither, I guess it'll be a great experience. Sam invited me." My dad nods, "I'm really glad that you made such good friends. And to be honest, I like them more than that Edward boy. Although I did like Alice." I nod at him, Edward's name doesn't really hurt me anymore. I've decided that I can't keep on moping about someone who never really loved me. I'm sure he already has a new girlfriend.
"I'm glad to, they are really fun to be around."
*Edward's POV*
I'm sitting in my room at our new house. Downstairs, Jasper and Emmett are playing a video game. Alice and Rose are shopping, Esme is in the garden and Carlisle is at work. Nothing is the same since I left Bella. The family thinks that I talked to Bella and she agreed that it is for the best and for her safety. I can't tell them that I lied to her and told her I never loved her. They will be really mad and will go straight back to Forks. All of them miss Bella terrible. Emmett and Jasper don't goof around as much and Alice doesn't go shopping as much as she did. Jasper feels incredibly guilty about hurting Bella, even though I told him that Bella doesn't blame him. I, for a part, do blame him. But another part of me is grateful. From day one I thought that I brought Bella in great danger. Jasper just proved it to me.
Carlisle just called me down and now I'm sitting in the diner room. "I want to talk to you about a fund raising that my hospital will hold in a couple of weeks. They want me to be there and I want to ask if you want to come to." He looks at us, Alice is the first one to react. "Of course, I have the perfect reason to go shopping!" Then she blanks out in a vision.
Vision
Bella is driving in her truck, a car comes at her from the left. It drives way to fast. Then the vision is black.
I growl at Alice, "you promised not to look for her anymore!" She glares at me, "I didn't look for her, this one just came at me."
We are glowering at each other and the others are looking between us uncomfortably. "What did Alice see?" Emmett asked. "Alice saw Bella driving and then another car driving to fast and then the vision turned black." Suddenly I realised what I just said. "Do you think the vision turned black because she dies? You have to see if there is anything else you can see!"
Alice closes her eyes and I can hear her thinking hard. After a while there is still no vision. "I can't find anything."
I make the decision without really thinking it through. "I'm going to Forks, I have to know."
A second later I'm in my car and driving towards the road. It takes me a while before I notice that the rest of my family is following me.
When we arrive in Forks, we immediatly drive to Bella's house. To my horror, her truck is not in the driveway. Nobody's in the house. We drive through Forks, searching for her. "We are not going to find her this way Edward, let's go back to her house and wait there." Jasper says in the car behind me. "Yeah, we'll park the cars at our house and run to her house. If something happens to her we'll know it." We park at our old house and run to Bella's house. For a long while, nothing happens. Then we hear the rumble of Bella's truck, we look at each other. "Where has she been the whole day?" Esme wonders. Suddenly Rosalie starts laughing and we all look at her like she is crazy. "We forgot, haha, that it's thursday today. Bella was just at school," and then the laughs even louder. That's when we realise that she is right. We are so stupid, how could we forget school. We hear Bella walk around inside and it's so wonderful to be back. That's when I make my desicion. I'm going back to Bella and I'm never letting her go again. I've missed her so much and I don't think I can leave ever again.
My family left a while ago. They are preparing the house, so we can move back. We'll say that Esme missed life in a small town. I wonder how Bella is going to react when she knows that we are back. I just know that she is going to be really happy. Her dad came home a while ago and they have just started eating dinner. "I saw Jacob this morning, he is very excited to see you tonight." He smiles happily at Bella, while I'm silenty fuming How dare that dog come to see my Bella! And why would Charlie ever say that to Bella? "Really? I'm excited to, but I'm more excited for saturday. I'm really glad they invited me." Charlie nods, "I still think it's special that they have invited you." What! Bella is going to the reservation this saturday! She can't, it's way to dangerous there. The wolves are so unpredictable! I'll make sure she doesn't go! Even if I have to lock her up. I turn away from the house to tell my family about Bella's plans to go to the reservation.
