Damon's Love and Elena's Daughter: Chapter One

Present

"Charlotte, Eric, hurry up," Elena called, standing in the kitchen as she wanted for her two children/young adults to come running down the stairs.

"Mum, is there anything I can help you do?" Charlotte asked, dashing into the kitchen wearing her knee length party dress.

"Can you go outside and check if everything is ready?" Elena asked.

"Sure," Charlotte replied, leaving the house through the front door.

Walking to a table set up, under an open outdoor tent, Charlotte jumped out the way and landed face down on the grass. Where she had been standing was a stake set in the ground. Charlotte looked around the garden and quickly pulled her legs up under her. Jumping from the ground, Charlotte rolled under the outdoor table and saw the two stakes in the floor where she had just been.

"Charlotte, do you think there is enough cups?" Elena questioned, walking out of the back door.

"Mum, get back inside," Charlotte shouted, eyeing something move in the corner of her eyes causing her to look around the garden.

Elena looked at her youngest child crouched under the table, looking around the garden. Stepping back inside, Elena called for Charlotte's older brother Eric and stood at the door watching her daughter. Charlotte dashed across the garden, pulling one of the stakes from the ground and glancing around the garden trying to find out who else was in the garden with her.

"Elena, come outside, we haven't talked in years," Klaus said, appearing at the edge of the house leaning against the wall and looking at Charlotte.

"Mum, stay inside," Charlotte ordered, adjusting the grip on the stake and waiting for the 'man' to move.

"Charlotte, he is one of the first vampires," Elena told her daughter; from inside the house.

Elena and Eric had their hearts in their mouths, as they watched Charlotte planning what she was going to do. Klaus was right in front of Charlotte within seconds; Charlotte had the stake sticking out from in front of her. As Klaus had moved his body had been pieced by the stake causing it to go through his stomach; while Charlotte pushed it even deeper and stared him right in the eye.

"Leave my mother alone," Charlotte ordered, twisting the stake and causing Klaus even more pain.

"Charlotte, in the house," Stefan ordered, appearing behind her in the garden.

"Stefan," Charlotte sighed, knowing that her mother's vampire friend was now her to protect them.

Charlotte pulled the stake from Klaus and ran towards the house; entering the house Charlotte, Elena and Eric watched from the door.

"Strong little girl, isn't she," Klaus complimented.

"Just like her father," Stefan replied, watching Klaus as he held his hand on the wound on his stomach and looked up at him.

"I will come back, so you little Charlotte," Klaus said, vanishing with his super speed.

"Charlotte, are you okay?" Stefan asked, making his way to the back door and waiting for Elena to open it.

Elena opened the back door, Eric and Charlotte stood either side of her.

"I'm fine," Charlotte replied.

"Come in," Elena said, leaving the doorway and entering the kitchen again.

"I heard it was your birthday today," Stefan told Charlotte, as he entered the house.

"Yeah," Charlotte replied, leaving Stefan and heading up the stairs towards her room.

"What did I do wrong?" Stefan asked.

"Nothing, she is always a bit strange after dealing with vampires," Eric replied sighing.

"So what did she get?" Stefan asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

"A black and red full length dress, wolf tooth and compact bow and a few other odd things," Eric replied.

"Wolf tooth and bow?" Stefan questioned, looking at Eric.

"Uncle Dave got the tooth, it was one of his and the bow from mum and I for when she goes hunting," Eric answered.

"How often does she go hunting?" Stefan questioned.

"Every time a bad vampire enters town," Eric said, entering the kitchen and leaving Stefan in the lounge room.

As Eric entered the kitchen, Elena exited and meet Stefan in the lounge room.

"How have you been doing?" Elena asked.

"Good, how about you?" Stefan asked.

"Fine, the kids are as well," Elena replied.

"Are the wolf pack still taking care of you?" Stefan asked.

"yeah, every full moon they invite all of us to join them...only Charlotte every goes," Elena said.

"What about Eric? How is his father going?" Stefan asked.

"Eric is fine, his father pops over when he is in the country," Elena answered.

Eric and Charlotte were from different fathers; Eric's father was a normal human who travelled around the world, but Charlotte's father was a werewolf who had been the leader of the local pack and died from a vampire attack when she was six years old.

"Have you seen, Damon?" Elena asked.

"Not recently, but he sent me a letter saying he was going to be here, for Charlotte's eighteenth birthday," Stefan answered, secretly hoping that his would not turn up.

"Elena, we are here," Dave yelled, running into the small house with the rest of the wolf pack following after him.
