Damon's Love and Elena's Daughter: Chapter Three

"Charlotte," Damon whispered, making his way to her side and keeping pace with her.

"Klaus, is in town," Damon whispered.

"I know, he attacked the morning," Charlotte replied.

"Why didn't you call me?" Damon typed on his phone, looking down at Charlotte and showing her what he had typed.

"Stefan arrived," Charlotte type in reply; not wanting anyone to hear what they had said.

"Are you going hunting tonight?" Damon typed.

"Yes, I need the stress release," Charlotte typed, returning Damon's phone to him before leaving his side.

Memory – Six Months Before

Charlotte once again flipped back on to her feet, she span round taking out yet another vampire with her stake. Stopping for a second to analysis the situation, she dropped to the floor and tripped the vampire, who had just been about to hit her. Five down and four to go. It was when the vampire hit the floor that Charlotte felt her body being pulled up and back. Landing on the hard dirt floor, her breath was knocked from her and her stake slipped from her hand.

"Beating up a poor little girl, how low can you get?" Damon asked, leaning against the trunk of a tree and watching the four remaining vampires move in on the girl.

"She's not just any girl, she kills vampires," One of the vampires said, pulling Charlotte up into a sitting position.

Damon had seen the very unique and odd charm that hung around her neck, so he had very simply and quickly killed the four vampires.

"Hi," Damon greeted, holding out his hand and waiting for Charlotte to take it.

"Hello...again," Charlotte greeted, standing up by herself before brushing off her clothes and picking up her stake.

"Your Elena's daughter," Damon said, watching as Charlotte turned to look at him side on.

"Yeah, who are you?" Charlotte replied, shifting her weight from one side to the other.

"Damon," Damon answered.

Present

Elena placed the two story birthday cake down on to the outside table, while everyone crowded round in tight circles. As everyone sung Charlotte's eyes found Damon; she smiled at him as he watched her carefully. Blowing out the eighteen candles, two of Charlotte's uncles cut the cake, handing it out to each and every person. For the remaining five hours Charlotte made her way around the crowds and talked to everyone.

Later that night – 11 pm

Slipping her black hooded jacket over her shoulders, clicking her phone inside the inside pocket of her jacket. Turning her phone ear piece on, she put it in her ear and head the soft beep meaning it was on and connected to the phone. She swung her backpack and quiver on to her right shoulder, walking down the stairs she wasn't surprised to find her brother and mum asleep on the couch. Taking the bow, Charlotte left the house. Entering the dark street, she was not surprised to see no one around. Her ear pieces begin to ring; Charlotte reached up tapping the side of her ear piece.

Phone Call

Charlotte: Hello

Damon: Are you ready?

Charlotte: Yeah, just heading down the street

Damon: I will pick you up in minute

Charlotte: Alright

With that Charlotte entered the call and stopped at the end of the street, she stayed in the darkness until a car rounded the corner and stopped with its headlights right on Charlotte.

"Does your mum know you're out?" Damon asked, as Charlotte swung into the passenger seat.

"No, she and Eric were asleep, on the couch," Charlotte replied.

"Cool, then let's go," Damon said, revving the engine.

The care moved forwards, flying down the street and turning through the streets, until they reached the forest. Getting out the car, Charlotte unclipped the top of the strap that connected to the quiver and strapped it round her torso and let her backpack hang on the left shoulder. Damon took three stakes from the backpack, slipping two in his front pockets and holding the other in his hand. Charlotte held her bow with an arrow ready to shot pointed down towards the floor as they walked through the forest almost silently.

"Go, up into this tree," Damon ordered, as they passed a reasonably tall and thick tree.

Charlotte was almost immediately climbing up the tree, she was about ten metres from the floor when she set her backpack next to her on the bench and sat with her bow and arrow ready. By this time she was in position, Damon called her from his phone, having his own earpiece that connected to his phone. Charlotte and Damon kept the link up, confirming to each other that there was nothing about. Every few minutes Charlotte would against her position, until she would hear wind in her earpiece and then watch the ground to get ready to kill if needed. Damon stopped under the tree Charlotte was in, while the vampires stopped before him, smirking.

"What are you doing here?" Damon asked.

"Eating, killing...the usual," One of them answered.

Damon ran at him, knocking him off his feet and pushing the stake through his heart. The other two vampires, either side of Damon stood shocked as they showed their teeth and growled. Charlotte shot her first arrow, hitting her target head on and then shotting another one at the other vampire, hitting his shoulder, as he was about to run away.

"What the hell?" The remaining vampire yelled, lying on the ground with the wooden arrow sticking out from his shoulder just above his heart.
