Damon's Love and Elena's Daughter: Chapter Seven
Over the following days, Eric, Charlotte, Damon and Stefan stayed at Elena's side waiting for her to wake up. The three cousins had been sent home with their memories completely wiped of the whole day and replaced with others. Eric and Charlotte had, had an argument when they went home to get a change of clothes; they hadn't talked since then. While Stefan and Damon were also barely talking, so the only sound in the small hospital room was the sounds of breathing and the machines connected to Elena beeping loudly. The werewolf pack, were scattered around the hospital, many of them working in the hospital, while the rest watched the entrances. Klaus hadn't been seen from his last appearance at the hospital.
"Mum, you really should lay down," Eric told Elena.
"No, I will be fine. We need to go home, were it is safe for you and Charlotte," Elena said, sighing as she glanced at the empty chair beside Damon that Charlotte was usually sat in.
"She went outside for a breath of fresh air, with Damon," Stefan answered Elena's unasked question.
Outside Charlotte sat slumped against Damon's car, as he leaned against it at her side. Each of them didn't speak a word, knowing that one of the wolves nearby would hear what ever they said. A sad look closed Charlotte's face, as she thought back to her mum.
"Charlotte, cheer up," Damon said, glancing down at her.
"I'm worried about my mum," Charlotte replied.
"Don't be, Stefan or I will give her blood if she needs it," Damon replied.
"I know, but I'm still worried about her. Klaus is after her and my brother," Charlotte said.
"He is after you first," Damon replied.
"Damon, where is Elena?" The familiar voice, caused Damon to turn and look at the person who was talking to him.
On the other side of his car stood Bonnie, suitcase beside her along with her son Satun. Charlotte stood up straight and looked over the car, she smiled slightly.
"Bonnie, you are finally here," Charlotte said, running towards Bonnie and hugging her close.
"Haven't you grown Charlotte," Bonnie said, hugging the girl back and glaring at Damon.
"Damon, will you put our suitcases in the boot of your car," Bonnie asked sweetly.
Damon did what Bonnie had asked of him, only because Charlotte was still currently hugging Bonnie and she would be incredibly upset if Damon was to do anything to the witch.
"Elena's room is this way," Charlotte said, directing Bonnie and Satun into the hospital.
Nearing the room, Charlotte heard Stefan, Eric and her mother talking. She moved towards the room and stopped in the doorway, her mum smiled up at her.
"Mum, are you okay?" Charlotte asked, stepping to the side of the bed and looking her mum up and down.
"I'm fine, just want to go home," Elena replied.
"No, you need to stay here until you are better," Charlotte said, from the doorway Bonnie and Satun watched, until Elena looked at them.
"It's nice to see old friends," Elena said, smiling at Bonnie.
They hardly ever got to see each other, with Bonnie still living in Mystic Falls and Elena now living a few days drive from Bonnie. Charlotte stepped back from the bed, letting Satun and Bonnie sit down in the seats she and Damon usually sat in. Quietly Charlotte left the room, to go and find Damon, she found him still outside looking into the woods.
"What's wrong?" Charlotte asked, Damon held his hand up to her and titled his head slightly.
"I can hear something…something is in the tree lines," Damon said, trying to hear what it was in the trees.
Charlotte swiftly opened the door to Damon's car, opened the glove box and pulled two stakes from the small compartment. She tossed one through the air at Damon; he caught it and glanced at me for a second. That second was enough, Klaus dashed from the tree line, heading right towards me. Harding my stance, I held the stake comfortably and deadly and swung at Klaus as he neared me, hitting him square in the chest, he grabbed my shoulders and smiled down at me, Damon was behind me, he slammed his stake through Klaus's head, causing him to release me and stumble back a couple of steps.
"Leave her alone," Damon said, stepping to my side and watching as Klaus's healing did it's work and fixed all of his injuries.
"She can't run forever," Klaus told Damon.
"She won't have to," Damon replied.
"Really, why is that?" Klaus asked, Charlotte looked up at Damon waiting for his answer.
"Because I will protect you," Damon answered, causing a smile to grace Charlotte's features.
Hearing footsteps, Damon knew the wolves would soon be here to help protect Charlotte; sure enough they surrounded them seconds later. All of the wolves growled in Klaus's direction, while Charlotte remained still at Damon's side, knowing now she was completely safe.
