Damon's Love and Elena's Daughter: Chapter Eight
Klaus returned to the cover of the trees and Damon finally moved his eyes to Charlotte and looked down at her to ensure she was completely unharmed, seeing that she was Damon smiled down at her.
"I'm fine, Damon," Charlotte whispered, the sound of her voice seemed to calm him down completely.
"You have been seriously hurt," Damon told Charlotte.
"He didn't even touch me," Charlotte replied, Damon seemed unsure but he dropped the subject for now.
The wolfs wandered back to their posts, after they were sure that Charlotte was completely unharmed and that Damon was protecting her. Watching out for Klaus; Damon and Charlotte headed back towards Elena's hospital room. Entering the ward, Charlotte changed directions and headed for the waiting room instead of her mother's ward.
"Charlotte, were are you going?" Damon asked, following Charlotte to make sure she couldn't get into any more trouble.
"I don't want to go back to the room yet," Charlotte told him.
Sitting down in front of the window, Charlotte stared out into the garden, her mind wandering to Klaus. Taking his space down beside Charlotte, Damon couldn't help but want to interrupt her thoughts to find out what was wrong.
"Charlotte, what is going on?" Damon asked.
"Klaus, went after Katherine's blood, my mum's blood and now is after mine and I'm not even a Doppelganger. Katherine died, my mother had to run from Klaus, that is why my mother moved here. I have heard about Klaus, I know he gets what he wants, when he wants," Charlotte replied.
"Klaus, won't be able to get you, I will be able to protect you," Damon told Charlotte, wrapping his arm around Charlotte's shoulders.
Leaning into him, Charlotte felt so safe in Damon's arms. She always felt safe in his arms, always felt like there was nothing in the world that would cause harm to me while I was in his arms. Snuggling up against Damon, I thought of a day not too long ago, Damon and I were sat on the beach waiting for the sun to rise. Without warning Damon moved away from me and stood up. As he did Stefan stepped into the room, he looked at Charlotte and Damon with confusion.
"I thought you were still outside," Stefan told them.
"No, i just didn't want to go back in the room yet," Charlotte replied.
"Your mum woke up," Stefan told Charlotte.
Immediately Charlotte was on her feet, she waved goodbye and was quick to leave the room. Damon was quick to head towards the door, Stefan blocked his path not letting Damon leave the room.
"What is going on with you and Charlotte?" Stefan asked, Damon knew he was angry but knew this had been coming.
"Get out of the way, Stefan," Damon ordered, he growled in anger and moved closer to his brother.
"Damon, answer the question," Stefan replied firmly.
"It doesn't affect you, " Damon growled, he shoved Stefan out of the and stormed off after Charlotte.
Damon was quick to catch up with Charlotte, they entered the room together. Charlotte rushed to her mother's side and hugged her tightly. Damon stood at the door, glad that Elena was okay. Leaning against the doorframe he looked at the room, everyone that Elena cared about was around her, except for Stefan. Watching Charlotte, the fact that Charlotte was Elena's daughter really hit home with Damon. He regretted staying in this town and letting Charlotte come hunting with him., it was only for a second that Damon really regretted it.
"Why were you at the house, Damon?" Elena asked, remembering she had seen Damon after he was attacked.
Everyone turned towards Damon, staring at him and waiting for his answer. Bonnie and her son, seemed extremely annoyed with Damon.
"Did you hurt Elena?" Bonnie asked, Damon held up his hands in surrender.
Taking a step back, Damon glanced at everyone in the room before his gaze landed on Charlotte for only a second before it returned to Elena. Turning to walk away, Stefan grabbed him and pushed him into Elena's hospital room.
"Explain," Stefan ordered, Damon turned to his brother.
Turning to his brother, Damon was ready to attack him when he felt a strong pain from inside his head. He held his hand to his head, dropping to his knees and holding his head in his hands. Charlotte dug her nails into the skin of his arm, forcing herself not to run to Damon's aid.
"Stop," Charlotte ordered, she stepped in between Bonnie and Damon.
The pain in Damon's head stopped, he looked back at Bonnie, knowing so well that it was her that caused him the pain. Charlotte glanced at Damon on the floor, before turning to Bonnie and everyone else. She shook her head, unsure what she needed to say and totally unsure what she should say. Parting her lips, Charlotte ended up closing them again, waiting for a second before she tried to speak.
"Don't hurt him, he hasn't done anything wrong," Charlotte told everyone.
"Charlotte, Damon is bad news. He has been in town for five minutes and already your mum is in the hospital," Bonnie told her.
"He hasn't been in town for five minutes, he has been here for a few months," Charlotte told them.
