Bella:
I'd tell my mother that I love her dearly
And tell my father that I need him back again
And if those words won't drop from your lips
I will be your Freudian slip
I sit in silence, watching Edward's face closely. He doesn't give anything away, which scares and unnerves me. I have no idea of how he'll react to what I've told him, as, like I requested, he remained silent throughout the entire conversation.
Now, though, I'm wishing he would say something.
"Um, I can leave you alone for a bit, if you want," I offer. I should've waited longer to tell him. It's only been a month since our first date, but I thought I should tell him. It is a pretty big part of my life.
"No! Stay," Edward shouts out, grabbing my hand to prevent me from leaving. It's not as though I could make a quick exit, anyway. I've just passed the five month mark, meaning I'm over half way through my pregnancy. While I'm a little sad that time is passing by so quickly, I can't wait to meet my baby.
I settle on the bed, trying to get comfortable as I wait for Edward to say something else. I'm terrified this may be too much, that he'll want to run away from me.
Edward links his fingers through mine, brushing his fingers gently over my knuckles. I glance over at him to see he's looking down at our joined hands.
"I've never…I'm so angry. How could anyone do that? To their child, no less! How could they hurt you? I just…" Edward rants out. My heart swells from his words.
I'm so, so happy. I never thought I could be this happy. And I have to tell Edward this. "It's ok, Edward, I'm ok now. I'm happy. Happier than I ever thought I could be," I tell him honestly.
"Still, though…I really want to hit him. And I've never wanted to be violent before!" Edward blurts out. "Well, I kinda wanted to punch Jacob when he ditched me. Though everything worked out because I got to take you out on a date," he admits, and the tips of his ears go pink.
"Come here, cutie," I grin, pulling him towards me and pressing my lips against his. Edward quickly pulls me closer, kissing me with fever.
Unfortunately, someone knocks on the door, making us break apart quickly. I mutter an apology to Edward about the state of his hair, to which he just blushes in response.
"Door open, please," Esme tells us.
"I'm already pregnant, what else could happen?" I joke. Esme rolls her eyes, but leaves with a small smile on her face.
By the time I turn back to Edward, he's blushing fiercely and not looking me in the eye. I bump my shoulder against his, and then snuggle up to him on his bed. Edward lies down taking me with him, and wraps his arms around my waist. I've never been much of a hugger, but with Edward it feels so sweet and intimate. I can't get close enough to him.
He gently kisses my nose before lying back down. His hand shifts slightly on my waist, so that it's resting on the side of my protruding stomach. That alone makes me feel giddy.
"Still not going to find out the gender?" Edward asks. I found out recently that, along with the birth date, there's also bets on the gender.
"Nope, Mr Planner," I giggle.
Edward rolls his eyes at my teasing. "But how will you pick out names?" he asks me.
I shrug. "Spur of the moment?" I suggest.
"Are you mocking me, Miss Bella?" Edward asks, mocking outrage.
"Possibly. What are you gonna do about it?" I challenge.
Edward's hand finds its way to my hair as he crashes his lips to mine, kissing me deeply and passionately. I try to move closer, though my stomach is between us. Just as I'm getting into it I hear gagging noises from the doorway.
Shit. I'd forgotten the door was wide open.
"Uh, Edward? Do you have a minute?" Alice calls out, her hands covering her eyes.
"Not really," Edward mutters in my ear, giving it a quick kiss, before sitting up. "Sure, Ali, what's up?" Edward asks his sister.
"I need homework help," Alice pouts.
Edward groans pretty loudly. "Fine," he huffs, untangling himself from me.
"Help me up?" I ask holding out a hand. Edward gently pulls me up and places a soft, sweet kiss on my lips.
"Sorry. I can't resist the pout. Damn twin," Edward mumbles to me.
"That's fine. I'm gonna go see Dexter," I tell him, kissing his lips once more before walking off.
I wonder through the house, though eventually settle on the living room. I can't be bothered to walk all the way upstairs.
"Hey, Bella! You've got big!" Emmett announces as I walk in.
"Hey! I didn't realise you were here!" I say, before it registers what he said. "Big? Dude, try growing a baby!" I shoot back at him.
"You were in an Edward-bubble. Of course you didn't know Emmett was here," Rose comments from her place on the couch. Dexter is lying in her arms, so I refrain from swearing at her.
"Do you want me to leave you guys alone?" I offer.
"No, it's fine!" Rose shakes her head. "Dexter's always better behaved when you're around," she adds, handing him to me.
"What can I say; I'm a baby whisper!" I joke, sitting down on the sofa with Dexter.
"How come you left Edward's side?" Rose asks, smirking.
I give her the finger and scowl at her, which makes Emmett laugh. "Alice needed help with her homework."
"We did hear Esme going up to Edward's room to tell you to open the door," Emmett says, waggling his eyebrows.
I turn my scowl to him, and then ignore the both of them and talk to Dexter, instead. Of course he doesn't reply – I even think he falls asleep – but I don't mind.
"We're just going to go get a drink," Rose says, standing up.
"You guys can go and talk somewhere, I can look after Dexter?" I offer. "I promise I won't kidnap him," I add, grinning.
"Are you sure?" Rose worries.
"Yes. It'll be practise for me and you can always return the favour in the future," I tell her.
After thanking me many, many times, Rose and Emmett leave the living room. While they're not officially dating at the moment, I think Emmett will ask her out soon enough. He's been visiting more often, since Rose hasn't been at school for a while. They definitely should give it a try – if Edward and I can make it work, so can they.
"Holy sh-sugar!" I shout, changing at last minute to protect Dexter's ears. I hadn't heard Bree come in, so when she turned the TV on it scared the life out of me.
Bree sends me an apologetic look and quickly turns off the TV.
"You don't have to turn it off! You just kind of scared me. You were really quiet when you came in," I tell her. "Not that being quiet is a bad thing. Oh, man. I'm really putting my foot in it, aren't I?" I ask. "Damn, I just did it again."
Bree shakes her head and then turns on the TV again. She offers me the control, but I shake my head and tell her she can choose. Out of everyone in the house, Bree's the one I've seen the least. She mostly tends to stay in her room, and I suddenly feel guilty for not trying to talk to her earlier.
"Do you want to hold him?" I offer her Dexter, but her eyes widen and she quickly shakes her head at me. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," I apologise to her.
Once again, Bree shakes her head, though not as harshly as before. As she looks down at Dexter her expression softens. She turns her attention back to the TV, and I'm left wondering what must've happened to her to stop her from speaking.
A/N: Any thoughts on Bree's past?
Review = Jacob & Angela outtake :D
Also, on Sunday I'm going to be posting the first chapter of my Christmas fic, called 'Library Love'. It's sort of like a drabble, with some chapters shorter than others, and there'll be a chapter every day of December, with the epilogue posted on New Year's Eve! Check it out on Sunday! :D
