Shaken and confused, Daphne walked to her car, barely able to insert the key into the ignition. In the course of one conversation, things had turned from bad to worse. She was alone without her husband and child and she had no idea how it had happened. But even so, what would possibly possess Niles to become so angry with her?

She was only trying to-

She sank into the driver's seat of her car, sobbing into her hands. And the tears simply wouldn't stop. But she couldn't stay here any longer. She had no idea where she could possibly go, but there must be somewhere. She couldn't go to Martin and Ronee's, for it was much too late. And the last thing she wanted to do was to possibly turn Martin against his son. No doubt Niles would contact his father in a time like this. As she drove blindly through the streets of Seattle, her worry and anxiety increased to dangerous levels. But then she passed the familiar marina.

Roz….

Of course Roz would know what to say. She always knew. With a new sense of determination, Daphne turned into the Marina View Apartments and drove until she came to Building G. She'd barely pulled into the parking space when she climbed out of her car and grabbed her bag, eager to rush to her friend's doorstep. But when she got there, she received a rude awakening. Her knocks on the door went unanswered.

"Roz, please!" she cried, pounding on the door with all her might. "I need you! I need…"

She sank to her knees when she suddenly remembered…. Roz was out of town, visiting her family in Wisconsin. How could she have forgotten? And what was she supposed to do now? She barely had enough money for gas, let alone money for a hotel room-even a modest one. But there was nothing else she could do.

She was about to leave and humiliate herself by showing up at her father-in-law's doorstep when her eyes landed on the off-color brick, hidden by the corner of the door. It was a terrible place to hide a spare key, but now it proved to be a lifesaver. Daphne knew that Roz would be more than all right with her staying here while she was out of town, For Daphne would do the same for her friend.

After inserting the key and opening the door. She put her bag inside the living room foyer and walked into the apartment. The view was familiar, but she couldn't get over how vastly different Roz's home was than Daphne's home at the Montana. Roz's entire apartment could have easily fit inside the Montana living room. But now it was just the coziness that Daphne needed, although it lacked the charm of the home she shared with –

Unable to take the pain and confusion any longer, Daphne slammed the door and ran into Roz's bedroom, collapsing on the bed into sobs that racked her entire body. She cried until she was spent and when she tried to raise her head, from the comfort of Roz's pillow, Daphne found that it was almost impossible.

Sometime later she fell into a deep sleep, clutching Roz's pillow in her arms. But her slumber didn't last long. For when she woke, she looked around feeling more alone than ever. She needed to talk to someone, badly... and there was only one person who could possibly understand.
