I have a lot of free time being on spring break so you can expect a lot of chapter coming this week.
Laurel POV
Troy woke me up around what I guessed was 2-4am. It was pitch black and the moon was going down. I had my scythe on my back and a throwing knife in my hands. I noticed how dry my throat was and had some water. My stomach was growling but I'd just have to wait. In the morning we would probably go looking for food. I kept my ears open waiting for noise. It was peaceful, no cannons, no footsteps, no noise. I sat down in between everyone. I just let my mind wander. I thought about my brother, was he still alive, had he killed anyone. He could be dead and I would never know. I heard leaves rustling and I spun around. I held my throwing knife in hand. I heard running. It was coming towards us. I shook troy and Madge awake. Troy grabbed his trident, but Madge stayed back to watch our stuff. We slowly made our way towards the noise. I saw a head of brown hair running from something someone. Troy ran up to the boy, who tried to turn but troy stabbed him in the chest. He fell to his knees and then on his face. We heard the cannon. Apparently so did the person chasing him. The footsteps stopped and turned the other direction. "Troy I got this you go back to Madge" I said running to the footsteps. I saw the thing chasing him. It was a small bear. It saw me and charged. I threw a knife and it hit in the back. He let out a sequel of pain and charged at me. I swung my scythe down and it went into his back. The bear was obviously dead. I picked him up from underneath and walked back to camp. The sun was starting to come up when I got back. Madge had started a fire with Troy's lighter and some nearby sticks. Troy was grabbing some sticks and looking for edible plants. "No need for that troy I got breakfast here" I said holding up the bear. "Aw man this will be great!" he said licking his lips. I had no idea how he was doing it but with my knife he skinned the bear. He threw the pelt next to him. "Laurel dig a hole to bury this" he asked. I went over to an area with little grass and tried to dig. The ground was stiff. I swung my scythe at it and made a break in the hard ground. I pulled dirt up and threw the pelt in. I smashed the dirt down with my foot and scattered leaves on it. When I got back troy had put the meat he took off in the pan that Madge was holding over the fire. Troy was separating the inners from the meat. He had a pile of gory intestines and organ. We didn't hear anything which was good. Madge tried to flip the meat by throwing it and catching it. She probably learned a lot from watching those chefs that made food for her. It was a quite morning. Madge had cooked the meat well. She set the pan down and we stomped out the fire. Our boots were pretty much fire-proof. I ate a small piece of meat. It was pretty well cooked just a little pink. We were sitting around and we decided to leave this area and look for a water source because we had finished off our water and were thirsty. We walked to the right of where we were. There seemed to be no water near. We had some meat left over and Troy had it in his pan. We had our weapons at the ready. It was mid-day judging by the position of the sun. It seemed the arena was a circle and we were going around it. My theory was every time we got near the edge the game makers made large thick woody bushes appear. I was starting to get hot so I removed the jacket and rolled up my green sleeves. We were wondering around but had no water sources. I was getting extremely thirsty. The sun was still in the air. "I'm getting tired let's sit down" troy said. We sat on the leaves. "Why don't they just send us water Because WE NEED WATER" Madge said. "Maybe we are getting close so they don't want to send us water" I said. Troy got up "You know laurel you're one of the smartest people I've met" troy said standing up. Sure enough I was right after walking for about 15 minutes we came across a rushing stream. We filled up our bottles and sat next to it. "You want to camp here" I asked. "Sure" Madge said. It was still day and we decided to go looking for food. Troy growing up around the ocean would check for fish and edible plants. Madge and I went off to look for berries. I found a bush of a purplish berry but Madge told me they were poisonous. "They cause severe vomiting" she said. I left to go back to troy while she searched. Troy was spear fishing with his trident. He had 2 fish and he turned to me. "I got these fish if you want to start a fire" he said. I took his lighter and started a fire. I placed the pan over the fire and he skinned the two fish. Madge came back with a handful of purple berries. "These are safe I saw some just like them in the training center" Madge said. She dumped some into my hand, then Troys, then her own. Troy cooked the meat as I ate my berries. They were dull and flavorless but they were food. The fish weren't finished cooking when troy stmped out the fire. "Why'd you do that" I asked. "It's getting dark if the other tributes see its basically a death wish" Madge said. Tonight there was only one face in the sky that boy we killed. Madge had the first watch and I was second. I fell asleep but not for long.
