A/N: Hello! It's been a long time since I posted that last chapter. Like I said before, College really sucks the life out of me. Hahaha!

Anyway, thanks for reading the previous chapters. You guys made me really happy. :)

Sorry for anything wrong here. I hope you'll still appreciate this.

Enjoy reading!

Their Eyes that Couldn't See

IV. Umbrella

Now what, Kairi? Now what?

Kairi is shaking and her whole body felt heavy. She's not really sure if it's because she's already soaking wet with rain or if it's because of how sad and empty she feels… again.

She felt like Sora left her all over again.

Stop it, Kairi. It's not about him this time. You did this to yourself.

Of course, she's now the one to blame for her pain. She made herself think that he returned. That if she could persuade everyone that Roxas is Sora, Sora would be back.

But no. Roxas is not Sora. And now that she came to realize it, she wants to slap herself. Hard. For being stupid and selfish and insensitive. All she thinks is herself. What an idiot for love.

She lifts her head and looked up at the sky. It was so gray and dark. The pouring rain makes her vision blurry. Or was it because of her tears that's hidden in the rain?

"Sora…" Kairi whispered slowly "why did you do this to me? Why hurt me like this?"

Sora's not the one who hurt you. He already said goodbye. You know in yourself that it's final. And yet you force yourself to believe that he'll be back. You're that one who did all these to yourself, Kairi.

Kairi's eyes widened as this thought came flashing through her mind. Lightning flashed before her eyes. Her face contorted with pain, though not physically.

A sob escaped her mouth. And then another. And then she couldn't stop them all from coming. She raised her hands to her mouth to stop them but she's still sobbing uncontrollably, her tears hot on her skin.

Her knees buckled and she fell on the sand.

At first she just clasped her hand on her mouth as she continued to sob. Her chest felt so tight. It was like she would burst any minute.

When she cannot contain the pain any longer, she started to scream at the top of her lungs. She pounded the sand in front of her, her head lowered, almost touching the sand, and tears continued to spill from her eyes. She screamed and screamed, not caring if anyone hears her. She screamed until her throat felt raw with pain.

Eventually she stopped shouting and just whispered "Why Sora? Why? Answer me, Sora," again and again, still pounding the sand.

And then the rain abruptly stopped. The rain ceased from soaking her any further.

"What the–" Kari looked up in confusion. But instead of seeing the clearing sky, she saw an umbrella above her, shielding her from the rain.

She followed the arm holding the umbrella and saw that familiar face. Roxas.

"If not for the loud pouring of the rain and the occasional sound of thunder, everyone would be rushing here because of your screams, you know."

"Why are you here?" Kairi snapped, turning away from him. Now that she's under the umbrella, the rain cannot hide her tears anymore.

"Just go home already, Charms. You're soaking wet. You'll get sick if you stay here," Roxas said, ignoring her question. "Let's see, I don't really know where you live so–"

"Leave me alone."

"So that you could continue to mop here? I don't know why you're crying but just pull yourself together and go home. Don't you think crying in your own room is better?"

"Shut up!" Kairi said with gritted teeth.

Why is she so angry with him? None of this is his fault.

It is all hers.

"Whatever," Roxas said in an uninterested tone. He grabbed Kairi's arm and pulled her harshly to her feet.

"Hey! Let me go!" Kairi tried to wriggle her arm free from Roxas' grip. But he held her tight. "Why are you even here? Just leave me alone!"

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Roxas shouted, letting go of the umbrella and shaking her with both of his hands. Kairi froze in shock.

Now the both of them are under the rain; the pouring rain painting Roxas' sweatshirt drop by drop with water.

"I don't get why you are so angry of me. We barely know me! At first you are all sparkly-eyed at me like I'm someone special and now you despise me. What the hell?!"

"I–I… Sora– I mean, Roxas, I–I –"

"Kairi?"

The both of them jumped when they heard Kairi's name. They looked at the direction of the voice and saw a blue-haired girl half running, half walking towards them.

"Aqua!" Kairi gasped as her sister approached them.

Roxas let go of Kairi's arms and raised the hood of his sweatshirt over his head.

"Oh my gosh Kairi, what are you doing under the rain? What on earth happened to you?!" Aqua asked as she got a clear view of her sister. She secured her under her umbrella, hugging her with one arm.

"Aqua, I –"

"Who are you? Why is my sister crying under the rain?!" Aqua cuts out, staring at Roxas' back. He's also soaked in the rain now.

He tilted his head slightly; his whole face almost covered with the hood, only his mouth is visible. "Honestly, I really don't know. I just saw her here and I know my conscience would've killed me if I wouldn't have given her an umbrella."

"What?!" Aqua said, annoyed "She's not even under an umbrella, you little–!" She took a step towards him but Kairi stopped her.

"Stop it, Aqua, please? He's got nothing to do with this."

"I don't? Really? Good." Roxas turned his back from the sisters and started to walk away.

"Well then, goodbye now, Kairi... I guess," Roxas adds as he continued on, not even giving the two another look.

"Who is he, Kairi?" Aqua asked Kairi, clearly pissed off by how Roxas acted. She still didn't take her eyes away from Roxas' back.

"Just a classmate of mine. You don't have to be angry with him. Look," Kairi stooped down and picked up Roxas' umbrella from the sand "he just dropped that umbrella he was talking about."

Aqua stared at the umbrella for a moment before whipping her head back at the direction where Roxas went.

"If he's got nothing to do with this," Aqua said, narrowing her eyes, "Then what really happened, Kairi?"

"Can we just go home? Please?"

Aqua swung her face back at her sister and her eyes widened. Kairi's trying to hold back her tears again, though she's really not doing any good since some of them had already fallen down her cheeks. She looks like she's in a lot of pain.

"Okay." Aqua answered with a nod, placing an arm around her sister's shoulder.

The two of them started to walk home, Kairi holding Roxas' now closed umbrella.

Neither of them saying a word.

"Kairi…" Aqua whispered at her sister's door, knocking gently.

"I'm fine, Aqua, I swear," Kairi answered from inside. She sounded like she's in a deep well while having a very bad case of cold. It's hard to lie that you're 'just fine' when your body won't really cooperate.

"You can talk to me, you know," Aqua said in her normal voice. "I would just listen. I won't say anything. I swear it'll be easier."

Silence.

"Who the hell was that boy anyway?"

"He's got nothing to do with this."

"Kairi," Aqua breathed out her name, as if admitting defeat "you know, you haven't acted like this since… since that boy. Is this… is this like that one? Is he–"

"No!" Kairi cuts out. "No, I told you, that boy from the beach has nothing to do with this. It's still about… about him. It is still a-about… about S-S-Sora. Are you s-satisfied n-now?"

And with that, Aqua heard a sob, and then, Kairi's crying again.

Those are enough words – even how much they lack – to send Aqua away.
