ANOTHER WILD UPDATE!

So a week ago, I finally got around to set some time aside (as I'm a notorious night-owl) and watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion. I had to reload the movie twice after it stopped well before it could finish buffering—twelve minutes in the first time, an hour and a half in on the second. In the end, I managed to see the movie all the way through in spite of the somewhat shoddy translation.

What do I think of it? I think if I had stayed away from image boards like Danbooru more, I'd have given it a solid ten out of ten. By then I already—sorta—knew what Homura would look like (Akuma Homura, which is an admittedly better name than ULTIMATE MADOKA the hell kind of name is that it tastes like ham and cheese Hot Pockets). The cake song was very…random and made me go "WTF" a few times, but it was cute. Nagisa was charming but her true identity was pretty predictable, and Kyoko and Sayaka finally got along and became friends. Mami and Madoka were the usual selves and Kyubey was unusually quiet for the first half but still the same scheming cat-rabbit…thing that we all love and hate (and hate to love).

And Homura….

To the person who said not to hate her…I'm sorry, but I can't abide to that. I've seen a lot of arguments that are for what she did and arguments that are against it.

Personally, I'd like to lock her in a room and put "Let It Go" on a loop that not even she can escape from. Fuck, someone (maybe Sayaka but I'd prefer Kyoko) should just go up to her face and more or less scream it out like a metalhead.

As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I'm doing: writing a very obvious parody (with slight creative tweaking) of an overrated Disney song set after Rebellion. The only problem is coming up with the right lyrics that'll be vulgar enough to give it an M rating, and it's the one portion of story that's keeping me from uploading it right away. (And if you've read any of my M-rated parodies, you can expect it to be very OOC and varying degrees of random.)

But I have no sympathy for her. Hell, I expected the movie to end on such a note even though I was hoping there would be some happiness eked out of all that. But that's Urobuchi-san for you (or so I've read); someone, or the whole cast, has to get fucked over. That's the only way you can tell he's involved. Or Isayama-san. Or George Martin. (You get my drift.) I would love for there to be a continuation someday…and an ass-kicking of epic proportions.

(Because we all know what happens to characters who wind up on GP-sama's Biggest Dumbasses List!)

Now, onto another matter: I already have a few ideas as to where I'm going to take the rewrite. It will include elements from Rebellion. It will include elements from the Sailor Moon manga (and whether or not the upcoming reboot in July might deviate from that material like the '90s anime did is unclear) and movies, which were not present in the original. I had thought to include characters from the Oriko Magica manga (which I've only read a few chapters of last year) but those plans were eventually scrapped, and I barely remember reading Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice. And I have no idea how I'll be able to find translated chapters of the new series—being Tart/Taruto Magica and Suzune Magica—since some of the manga sites I frequent don't host them.

For now, I'll be expanding on the backstory of the rewrite in short stories. One such story, In the Shadow of the Moon, set in the universe established in Until We Meet Again Chapter 10, has already been posted. I don't know how many stories there will be, but as of typing this note I have a vague idea as to what the second installment will be about, among other ideas that will most certainly involve every Sailor Senshi and Puella Magi present in UWMA.

What I can say for certain? There will be timeline/parallel world sheningans and shades of Rebellion.

This will be the last Author's Note for this story. Aside from what I mentioned in the above, nothing has been finalized even though I specifically said in the first Note that the story behind UWMA will stay as it is. But when the many-worlds interpretation is involved, shit is bound to get complicated.

Until we meet again in the next story, whatever and whichever it may be.

Signed,

GP
