Dragon's Love with Dangerous Letters

Chapter 31

Two Years Later

The positive emotions swirled in a frenzy in the pit of her stomach. She licked her dry lips to moisten them as the man standing before her smiled at her and slowly lifted the veil covering her face. Her heart raced by his actions. She knew what this meant, what his next action would created or seal. She wanted it though, couldn't wait any longer for it to happen. Her eyes flicked over him swiftly wishing he would move faster and get it over with. They had to wait to full years; two long and stressful years did that gold band on her finger mock her, telling her that she kept having to wait for this moment to happen. That didn't have to happen anymore though. She was finally about to live the moment she wanted, the moment she had been craving these last two years.

"Faster." She breathed out quietly through gritted teeth.

This only earned her a soft chuckle from the man standing before her. He cupped her face in his hands and pulled her closer catching her lips in a kiss. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him closer. Cheers erupted from the side and clapping was a faint hum among the shouting and cheering. She felt his cool lips pull away from her own and she gazed up into his sapphire eyes, those blue eyes she had fallen for so much. She felt her feet get swept out from underneath her as the male carried her to the carriage down the aisle, the carriage meant especially for them. He climbed into it with her and placed her down, her back facing the crowd. She clutched the flowers within her hands, the bouquet made of those rare lilies with the rainbow tips just like the lily she had found when she was younger in her garden. She smiled down at them and closed her eyes tightly before tossing the bouquet up and over her head. She threw the bouquet purposefully in that direction for the sake of it landing in a certain girl's arms, her cousin's arms and certainly they were cradled there when she turned to see who caught them. She smiled brightly down at Celestine and the man standing next to her, her 'brother-in-law' or so to speak and her cousin's fiancé, Rogue.

"Come on."

She shivered at the husky voice and nodded. She took a seat and waved to the crowd that grew into tiny specks as the carriage drove off further into the kingdom. People lined the streets waving the kingdom's flag proudly. Little kids ran trying to keep up with them and people cheered and shouted "congratulations!" in their general direction. Right now only her and her new husband was the center of attention and even though it seemed like they were focused on the crowd it was really each other that had their minds captured. She knew this too when he squeezed her hand and shifted their interlocked fingers.

"You know their only trying to buy time to set up the after party right?" He asked her gently.

"Yes I know. I wish they would have done it sooner." She sighed.

"Geez, I would pick an impatient woman to be my wife."

"Oh shut up Sting. You want to be alone just as badly as I do." She chuckled.

The blonde parted his lips and then closed them and pouted in defeat. It was true, he did want some time alone with his new wife but sadly they still had a party to survive through. He could only wonder if this is how his father felt on the day of his wedding. Artemis giggled faintly at his reaction and leaned her head gently on his shoulder. Sting wrapped an arm around her shoulder and squeezed gently. They both looked up at the banners hung between the buildings, each one baring their kingdom's emblem. Sting smiled up at them trying to hide his nervousness. Being married to Artemis now, it wouldn't be too much longer before he took the throne either. He only had to wait for Rogue and Celestine to be wedded and that was it. They would both be crowned kings after that and their wives would take the titles of queen instead of simply princess. It made him nervous though, made him wonder if he was ready to take on such a responsibility. He felt his shoulder being squeezed slightly and he looked down to find the brunette smiling up at him.

"Your shaking." She whispered causing him to look down and see that the hand he was holding hers with slightly moved back and forth making her hand do the same.

"S-Sorry." He stuttered quiet embarrassed.

"Don't be. There is no need to be nervous Sting. You'll make a fine king I'm sure and no matter what you'll always have me by your side."

That was all he needed to feel better. Her. It was all it took to calm him and make him feel better. He smiled down at her and leaned closer to her capturing her lips once more with his own. The people lining the street shouted louder as confetti flung through the air decorating Sting and Artemis's hair with wild colors. They pulled away from each other and smiled.

"You're right. As long as I have you nothing could possibly go wrong." He whispered in her ear.

She nodded at him and then turned her attention back to the crowd. It didn't take much longer before they made it back to the castle where even more people had been waiting for them to return. Sting lifted the brunette from the carriage and set her gently onto the floor. Intertwining their fingers the blonde took the lead and was the first one out of the newlyweds to walk into the ball room. The maids and other servants actually decorated the whole room even more extravagant than they usually did. The light that bounced off of every chandelier made every color of the rainbow cascade and shine down onto the floor. The banquet tables were filled with more food than they usually were at a ball and Artemis could tell that everyone went all out with their outfits this time for this special occasion. The cheerful music that had been playing from the musicians suddenly turned into a slow and beautiful melody. Sting led his wife out to the middle of the floor and securely wrapped an arm around her waist, his other hand placed in her own free hand that was not resting on his shoulder. Artemis smiled and rested her head on his shoulder the whole time they danced, the crowd just sitting aside watching them.

"I love you."

Both of them smiled hearing each other speak the same three words at the same moment. Artemis loved when they did that, it was like they could easily read each other, like they were open books to each other and so simple to read. Even after the music ended Artemis never increased the space between them by a single inch until she really had to. Everyone clapped for them and smiled. Everyone knew what these events meant, the wedding and Rogue's engagement with Celestine. Everyone was looking forward to the prince's coronations. The whole kingdom knew that that time was approaching them soon.

Artemis was pulled off to the side where her cousin stood waiting for her. The brunette wrapped her arms around the other female and smiled hugging her close. Of course another congratulations fell from Celestine's lips, probably the tenth one for the day. Artemis sighed, she really didn't see the point in being congratulated so many times but alas she wasn't going to be rude and shove them aside, that wouldn't be such a great impression coming from one of the future queens. Rogue was the next one to say the same and one after the other she was swarmed by her guests congratulating her and shaking her hand. All of the other royal heirs had come to the wedding as well with their own princess who stood proudly next to them, well aside from Wendy who was still a little young. The young girl was the first royal heir to find her and congratulate her, well besides Rogue. It wasn't long after that did she have Cobra and Laxus standing before her, Princess Kinana standing beside Cobra and MiraJane holding onto Laxus's arm, the same white haired female that had been a maid working in the castle at Pyre. Well she wasn't actually a maid; she had just been pretending to be one at the time. She had really been spying out in that kingdom for a group of hunters or something of the sort who were after Laxus at the time. Mira had really belonged to the Fairy Tail kingdom. After they had walked away the little bluenette I had befriended such a long time ago appeared next to her iron dragon slayer. Artemis smiled, she happy to finally see the two together. She had always thought that having Levy be Gajeel's wife would be cute to see; of course her assumption was right.

"Well you look exhausted. I thought you'd be out and about with your new husband."

Artemis couldn't help but to smile at that voice. She knew that one very well. She turned and locked her emerald eyes with those coal black serpentine ones that always held a spark of friendliness to them. Of course his lump of fluffy pink hair still stood out like always. Natsu beamed down at Artemis. The brunette didn't really know how long it had been since she last saw Natsu; it was probably at that party two years ago when Weisslogia had been attacked. That was such a long time.

"It's good to finally see you again Natsu-Nii." She smiled and propped her knuckles of her left hand onto her hip.

"Yeah it is. Two years is way too long. By the way, congratulations to both you and Sting." The pinkette replied.

"Thanks."

Artemis could see the slight sadness flicker through his eyes. She knew that Natsu still felt that way about her, the same way he had those two year prior when they had met. Her smile took on a slightly sad effect to it as she noticed this and sighed heavily. She reached her hand out and shoved his shoulder. He looked at her confused at first not understanding her actions.

"Cheer up would you? For me? I know what you're thinking Natsu." She said and crossed her arms.

He scratched his head sheepishly."I'm sorry. You know how it is though when it comes to you."

"Yeah well you better control that. You know how Sting is."

"I know, I know. Relax ok it won't happen much. I have my own fiancée thank you." He grinned proudly while puffing his chest out.

"That so? Where is sh-"

"Natsu! There you are!"

Artemis turned her head to that oh so familiar voice. The blonde haired girl ran forward and grabbed a hold of Natsu's arm tightly. The brunette would know that girl anywhere; she was one of her childhood friends after all. The girl's brown orbs locked onto Artemis and she rushed forward pulling her into a hug. Artemis felt like she was suffocating from how hard she was being hugged.

"Lucy! Easy!" She breathed out.

"I'm sorry! It's just been awhile is all. Oh look!"

With that the blonde stuck her hand out showing Artemis the shiny diamond ring hugging her finger. Artemis's eyes widened and she knew exactly who gave that to her. She smiled over at Natsu and nodded at the two as Lucy took hold of his arm once again. Even with being as eager as she was to see Artemis it looked as if Lucy was more eager to see the rest of the ballroom. Artemis chuckled slightly. That girl was always spunky and unique in her own way.

"Go on. I have other guests to meet and greet as well. I'll try to talk to you later." The green eyed female told them and watched as Natsu was drug a crossed the floor to the other side of the room.

Artemis turned and felt an arm wrap around her from behind."I forgot to thank you for still letting me be a part of your life."

"Of course, now go pinky before Lucy loses her patience."

With that Natsu disappeared completely into the crowd. Artemis sighed and thought it'd be best to walk around to meet the rest of her guests, the people she would also have to hold responsibility for in the near future. She nodded and smiled at some while giving an occasional hello to others. Suddenly bumping shoulders with one of the waiters the glasses of champagne that he had been carrying had spilled out onto the floor.

"I'm sorry your highness! I did not mean it!" The waiter stuttered as he scrambled to pick up after the mess.

"It's alright. There's no harm done." She reassured the panicking man.

"Artemis! Are you ok?"

The brunette turned to find Sting pushing his way through to her. She nodded and smiled at him saying it was only an accident though the guys made it seem like it was certainly more. One of the other waiters came by to help the young man clean up and Artemis stared down at him, his black hair cropped and spiked up into something similar to a Mohawk of sorts and his eyes were a dark brown that showed he was stressed out. What caught Artemis's eye though was the weird marking behind his ear. It was too small for her to clearly make out what it was but even if she could the man stood up to fast for her to figure it out. He bowed again to Artemis.

"Again I'm sorry your highness!"

With that he hurried off and found some more drinks so that he could carry on with his work. Artemis stood there puzzled for a few seconds before she turned to look at Sting. She did not expect to see him looking so harsh though. It startled her to be honest. She gently placed her hand on his arm but he didn't stop staring off into the direction the man fled to.

"Sting?" She whispered softly.

She never did receive an answer the whole time the party went on. It was very late by the time the last guest left the castle and was taken away. Artemis retired to her new bedroom which was simply Sting's old one and the one he currently still slept in. It didn't matter though plus Sting would receive his father's room upon becoming king and of course Weisslogia would get the room that was made for him the moment he stepped down from being king. Artemis sighed blissfully when she sprawled herself out a crossed the bed and immediately tangled herself into the white sheets. Sting's deep voice chuckled through her ears as he climbed into the bed next to her making it shift as he did so. The brunette smiled as she felt his cold lips press against her own softly, the lights quickly dimming down and then turning off after he was done kissing her. Artemis was quick to shift closer and snuggle into her husband for warmth. Sting's arm draped over her middle and it was that night that the two finally fell asleep together as a married couple for the first time.

But sadly Artemis couldn't fall asleep without thinking about that brown eyed man just once more.
