Chapter 13

Levi's Chapter

Levi was used to watching the kids he was supposed to have mentored die. It's happened every year and he'd grown used to the feeling of it. True, he felt like he was a failure as a Mentor every time one of his kids died in the Games, but they had all been weak and pathetic. They were no soldiers ready for the war ahead of them. He guessed he never expected them to live anyways.

But something struck in him when he watched Eren die. He had to admit he really started to like that kid and his fire that he had in him. He thought that Eren might actually have a chance and Levi would finally have a kid become a Victor. He was the hope that humanity needed for what is to come. And for the first time, he was sad to see one of his kids die. But now he was enraged.

"GET UP, MIKASA, DAMMIT!" he bellowed at the screen, as he watched the girl just sitting there, not even fighting. He threw his glass across the room and it shattered against a wall, startling the other Mentors and escorts that were in the room. She couldn't just give up now! He wouldn't allow another one of his kids to die and he felt helpless just standing here and not being able to help her.

Hanji placed a hand on his arm but he yanked it away. Why wasn't she moving? Levi thought furiously. He was angry at her. True, this would be the third time she had lost her family, as she claims, but that never stopped him when the Capitol killed everyone mercilessly that he knew. He knew he had to get revenge for the people he lost, not give up!

"Come on, Mikasa!" he said to the screen again desperately, fully knowing that it was impossible for her to hear him.

But just as quickly, when he thought she had given up, she had decapitated the girl from Three, without hesitation. Levi stood there in shock from what happened and so did every other person in the room. The girl had found a reason to live and he was pretty sure it had something to do with the death of her friend. And Levi smiled wickedly, that boy, Eren, had just become humanity's strongest hope and it was because of his death, he had woken something vicious deep inside of that girl. Mikasa now had nothing to hold her back and everyone will finally witness what a true terror she really is. But Levi noticed something strange when he saw Mikasa's face as she stared down at the headless girl. It very eerily reminded him of his own face when he was in the Games.
