MELODIOUS HERE! :D
SO IT'S BEEN LIKE A YEAR SINCE I UPDATED. You want to know why? Because college is a bitch! I fortunately finished my freshman year with a 3.6. So, woo. Well enough of that. I would like to thoroughly apologize about not updating in forever. I honestly did not want to write this chapter. I DID, HOWEVER, want to continue the story. I just did not want to write this chapter specifically. Writing the transition from being in Starfleet to being in Vulcan sucks. And unfortunately this chapter does not contain a lot of romantic moments, because it was a transitioning chapter. I did not watch the first Startrek. I watched the new version with Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, and Zoe Saldana. I may not have a factual representation of Vulcan, but I did do my research and I did try my best. Please be patient with me about this chapter. I will amp the romance in future chapters. But, I just had to get through this one. Once again my apologies for taking forever to update and my apologies for any grammar or editing mistakes. Thank you guys for being extremely patient. I love you all.
-Deuces!
"I aced your retake exam. So you owe me a game." I roll my desk chair to the side of Spock's.
"Chess is located in my dormitory. That would require us to-"
"No. Another game." I tell him.
"I do not recall making any such agreement." Spock says as he taps away on his PADD.
"Oh come on. It's the least you can do for your favorite student." I tell him, which results in a raised eyebrow.
"My favorite student?"
"Yup." I say confidently.
"Nyota, I do not believe in favoritism."
"Sure you don't. I'm only the most successful student in your class, the one student who truly likes you, your assistant, and the woman you're spending Christmas break with." Spock looks up at me from his PADD. I smirk in response. "Yup, I took your mother's offer. It would be a great opportunity." Spock nods and then continues what he was doing.
"What. You're not going to say anything?" I ask him.
"There is no need for a response."
"Spock do you not want me to go?" I know Vulcans can't lie. He has to answer me truthfully.
"That is not the case." He tells me.
"Okay. Let me rephrase that. Do you, Commander Spock, want me to go with you?" After saying this I realize I've caught him a trap. I wait patiently for his answer. He stops what he's doing and looks me in the eyes.
"Nyota?"
"Yes, commander?"
"I would desire nothing better than for you to accompany me to Vulcan." He tells me before once again continuing to work on his PADD. I put on the biggest smile and I don't even attempt to hide it.
'Good Spock.' I think as I scoot back over to my desk.
"Oh and Spock?" I look back at him.
"Yes?"
"Let's play that game later." I tell him. He says nothing but continues to work on his PADD.
"Oh Nyota!" Gaila wails as she holds my face in her hands.
"Gaila. I won't be leaving for that long. It's just Christmas break. Besides you're leaving too." I tell her. But it's the truth. Everyone is leaving for Christmas break. I just so happen to be one of the few people that isn't actually going back home. I'm leaving with Spockā¦. my professor.
"Gosh, did you have to ruin the mood?" She says as she releases me.
"Sorry love. I'm going to miss you though." I tell her. We embrace each other before I reach for my luggage. "Alright. I'm gonna go. Bye Gaila! Have a good break!"
"Bye!" She waves from her position on the floor. She's leaving in a few hours. Right now she's just packing her belongings. I take my leave from the room and now I'm walking vivaciously through the halls. For some reason I feel very cheerful and extremely excited. I'm actually going to Vulcan and not to mention I'm going there with Spock. Mentally, I squeal in delight. Finally I reach his office. I'm supposed to meet him and his mother here before we leave. Impulsively, before entering, I release my hair from my ponytail letting it flow down to my shoulders. I take out my keys to his office and open his door. Spock is not inside. However, his luggage is laid out perfectly on the floor. I decide to sit on my desk and wait for them to arrive. Due to my excitement I begin to kick my legs furiously as they're dangling off my desk and I accidentally kick something over.
'Oops.'
I jump onto the floor to check what I had knocked over. Underneath Spock's desk, which is adjacent to mine, is another bag that he owned. I had knocked it over and unfortunately this was the one bag that he had left open. I quickly put away all the things that fell out, when I notice a piece of paper on the ground. When I flip it over, my eyebrows furrow in astonishment. It's the drawing of him I drew along time ago. I left it underneath his armchair. When did he find it? Why is he keeping it? Suddenly, I hear footsteps and Amanda's darling voice. I quickly put everything back to the way it was before returning to my desk.
"I don't understand why you won't wear the sweater I gave you." Amanda says as she and Spock walk through the door.
"The attire is unnecessary mother. I have less ornate and more suitable clothing." He says to her. Then Amanda notices my presence.
"Ah. Nyota! Did we keep you waiting?" The woman says as she rushes to my side.
"Mother, it would be more appropriate if you called her by her surname." Spock tries to reason with his mother, who in return ignores him.
"No. You didn't. I just like to be early." I smile in return.
"Smart girl. Alright let's get going. I reserved the teleporter for a specific time slot. We don't want to keep the other students waiting." Amanda says.
Because she's the wife of the ambassador, we can leave before any of the other students do. Therefore, the other students who are going home will have to wait until we use the teleporter first. We quickly rush out of the room and down the hallway. Spock is carrying both his and his mother's luggage with ease. I'm carrying my own. We reach the transportation room to see a line of students, who in return, glare at us impatiently. Amanda does not seem bothered by them and walks to the front of the line. When the transportation officers see her, they bow their heads out of respect.
"Hello Gentlemen. May we use the transporter to go to the Vulcan transportation facility?" She asks politely. They nod their heads and allow us to walk through. They place us carefully in certain positions, before pressing buttons on their PADD. I can feel my head start to spin. I look over at Spock who looks completely undisturbed by the teleportation process.
"Ugh." I heave over my side, trying to catch my breath. I always feel uneasy after teleporting.
"My dear, are you alright?" Amanda pats me on the back as I'm leaning over.
"Yes. Yes. I'm good." When I look up, I notice that we're located in what I can only describe as something similar to a Vulcan Airport. But of course planes are Earth-objects and are non-existent here. There are Vulcans everywhere. I mean- duh, we're in Vulcan. Most, if not all of them are sporting the usual emotionless expression, yet they are walking around briskly and with purpose. It seems that the typical attire is something similar to a colorful cloak/dress. Spock was right when he said Vulcans have an appreciation for aesthetics. Speaking of Spock, he's standing beside us with his hands behind his back. His expression is unmoved and his lips are pursed. I look to the crowd to notice that there is not a single Vulcan who is a beautiful as him. No one has his jaw line, his piercing eyes, or the same sexy eyebrow raise. I guess Amanda just has very good genes. As we walk through the building, I notice that we are being stared at. Amanda seems unfazed by it, as if its something she's used to. But now that I think about it, of course we're getting stares. Amanda and I are both human. Spock is a Vulcan, but he's wearing his Starfleet Academy attire, which is uncommon here.
"Madam Amanda." A Vulcan transportation officer bows his head.
"We are trying to get to the Vulcan embassy." She says.
"Follow me." He commands. We follow him outside, where a transport vehicle is waiting for us. Once I step outside of those doors, instantly Vulcan's beauty stuns me. It's actually a little bit similar to Africa. The air is dry, the sky is blue and the heat is insane. What's different about Vulcan is that it's a desert with mountain ranges. Where I come from in Africa, is much greener.
I look to my side to see my favorite Vulcan. Although he still wears his vacant expression, I can tell he's happy to be home. We board the transport vehicle that will take us to the Vulcan Embassy. This gives me the perfect opportunity to view the sights and scenes of this new planet.
After about half hour, Spock breaks me out of my daze.
"Nyota we are leaving." He tells me. As I'm leaning with my head resting on my arms, I look to the side to see that Amanda and Spock have already left the vehicle. I follow in their footsteps. We've arrived at the Vulcan Embassy, which to me looks like a giant futuristic pyramid. Instead of going inside, we simply tell the guides working outside that we're here. We stand there for a few moments, before the doors open and out comes Sarek. He's followed by what looks like a few of his bodyguards, or business dudes, or whatever they are. I take this opportunity to hide behind Spock.
As he approaches us, he stands with his hands behind his back- similar to Spock's usual stance. Amanda slowly walks to his side and reaches her two fingers out to connect his.
"Wife." He greets her. "Spock." He says to his son.
'I hope he doesn't see me. I hope he doesn't see me.' I think Spock's back makes a very good hiding place.
"Cadet Uhura." He says to me.
'Or maybe not.'
I reveal myself and bow my head in respect.
"It's a pleasure to see you again Ambassador." I respond in Vulcan. He says nothing in response, but looks to his wife.
"You will be residing in the suites, I assume?" He asks her.
"Yes, husband." She gives him a small smile. I can tell by the look in Sarek's eyes that he missed her. He nods his head in response. "Good. I have business affairs to return to. " He raises his hand to give the Vulcan salute, before turning around to return to the embassy. Once he and his men are back inside I look towards Amanda.
"We aren't staying here?" I ask her while wiping the sweat off my brow.
"Oh no dear." She tells me and points to the building that's next to this one. "That's where we will be staying." I sigh internally as we start walking. The building wouldn't be that far away if we drove, but the walking distance is quite long.
We're only about halfway there when I feel my body start to weaken. I've never felt this dizzy in my life. Spock and Amanda are a few feet in front of me. Finally, my body gives out and I drop to the ground. My face is brushing against the sand.
"I think you'll really enjoy your time here Nyota! We will make it as pleasurable as possible!" Amanda says as she keeps walking. When she notices that I didn't respond, both she and Spock turn around curiously. "Oh no!" She rushes to my side. I can hear Spock's footsteps quickly making their way towards me. Suddenly, I can feel my body being lifted into the air by steady and firm hands. He lifts me onto his back. My limbs are limp by his side. My chest is pressed firmly against his back and my body feels as though it's melding with his. I nuzzle and burry my face into the side of his neck and my heavy breathing causes his ear to twitch. When I inhale, I can smell masculine scent. It's a mixture of citrus, pine, and cashmere wood, which results in an overall foresty smell. A few seconds later, my vision begins to slowly wear away. Due to the comfort of being with Spock, I allow my thoughts to drift away as well.
