Jasper, unlike Olivia, was a difficult baby, with colic, which kept both Mommy and Daddy up at night. Cat stayed for a couple of days, helping out with Olivia, taking her out with Jade all bundled up with a warm winter jacket zipped up. Cat was acutely aware of how near Christmas was, and worried about spending it alone. She could go back home to her mother's, of course, or she could spend it at her brother's, but his kids were unruly and rude to her, nothing like Olivia. She eventually decided she'd see closer to the day.

Cat ambled through the door with Livvy, and then sets her down for a short nap. "Mama?" Liv says hopefully. Cat shakes her head.

"Mama is busy with the new baby. Your Daddy will be home soon," Cat promises. "Sleep tight, baby." She kisses her forehead and smiles, fighting proud tears. She walks into the sitting room humming a sweet high tune.

"Hi, Mr West. How are you?"

"Please. it's Adam." He smiles. "I'm fine. How are you, Caterina?" Cat smiles at the name fondly.

"Dad, it's Cat now." Jade adds, rocking Jasper.

"Sorry, sweetheart. The last time I saw you, you had pigtails in your curly brown hair." She nods.

"That's alright. Ooh, let me have a look at him," Cat skips over to Jade.

"Yes, you try. He won't take his bottle no matter what I do." Jade presses Jasper into Cat's arms and she rocks him.

"Oh my, baby, aren't you heavy! Yes, you're so sweet. Come on, darling, eat something." To Cat's amazement, he drinks happily. Jade sighs.

"Beginner's luck." She laughs, shaking her head.

"I am a pro at bottles now," Cat sticks her tongue out. She asks Jade to take a photo of her with the baby. "Lemme see." Jade shows her and she looks horrified.

"What?" Jade asks, "What?"

"My roots! Oh my god, why didn't you tell me I looked half dyed!" She groans. "Sigh."

"You look fine."

"I'm going out." Cat says, shaking her head. "Shall I take him? Fresh air might help. It did with Liv."

"Yep. I'll get the pram."

Jade sits on the couch, staring into space. So much has happened. To her. And her family. Her husband and babies are so good to her. So much. It's a miracle that things have turned out okay. Better than okay. The only thing wrong is how thin she still is. And that is getting better every day. She takes a slice of cake off of the side, appreciatively eating the frosting first. Her dad looks over at her, smiling, and closes his book.

"What?" Jade asks, a smile playing on her lips.

"You did that as a little girl. Used to drive your poor mother mad. "Jade, baby, listen. Eat it like a person, not a little sparrow!"

"I remember. That's why she called me that."

"Yes, Jadey." She smiles.

"Mom never shouted at me. She never left me alone."

"No," Adam says, unsure where Jade is leading him to.

"I did." She sighs. His stare softens.

"You're a good mother, Jade. You look after your babies."

"Now."

"For the rest of your life, sweetheart." Jade looks up.

"Promise?" Jade knows her father can't promise that, but when he nods she feels better.

"I promise."

And a weight seemed to be lifted from both of their shoulders.

Jade and Beck sat in bed, exhausted, shaking their heads. "We're crazy."

"Why?" He asks, perplexed, his forehead wrinkled in a very cute way.

"We have two kids. My body is a mess, you've got bigger bags under your eyes than my handbag, and Olivia is jealous."

"You regret him?" Jade frowns and widens her eyes.

"Of course I don't regret my baby boy. How could you think that? Do you?" She says. "I'm just tired. And I don't really like it here."

" No. Don't be silly. And why? Your crazy stepmom moved out."

"Yes, I'm well aware. But we're not on our own two feet. We need to be."

"Yes," Beck agrees, sighing. "So what do we do?"

A/N: Dilemma! Haha. Hope you liked it!
