Kakashi sat up to yelling, crying, and the overpowering smell of tomatoes. It took a while but his grogginess dissipated in time to dodge a stray flying pot that would have claimed his head had his ninja skills not kicked in. As his brain began to process what was going on, he quickly understood two things: what was being yelled and the fact that the crying was a mixture between grownup and child "Kyu-dai-meeee?!" Sakumo cried "you have to go back to bed, look Naruto is crying and you're still pregnant with Tsuna...who by the looks of it doesn't plan on coming out soon". "Meh...you worry to much Ōkaminō (wolf brain)" CRASH "Kyudaime ! "wow...after his story from last night I wouldn't have thought it possible for Otou-san to talk to his precious ''Imōto'' like that" thought Kakashi as he got up from the warm sleeping bag the blonde pretty lady at Minato-san's house had given him a year ago and headed to the kitchen from which he heard coughing and sputtering. When Kakashi arrived at the doorway he saw something unbelievable. The still pregnant red head had somehow managed to get the ANBU Commander in an unbreakable headlock. Having had the chat with his dad about the red head he yelled the first words that came to mind "KYUDAIME WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!". This startled the red head and caused her to let go of Sakumo. When she saw who it was that had just called her Kyudaime an annoyed look spread across her face "Not you to...first your dad, then you mom, and now you, why do people insist on calling me Kyudaime?. Why can't you call me Ka-chan like you use to?" Kushina pouted. Although stunned Kakashi reacted immediately "Wha-what...I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE CALLED YOU KA-CHAN...I mean why would I" he responded as he went for the still crying Naruto. "You mean…you don't remember" Kushina sobbed. "I used to read to you, and cook for you all the time" here she said with a childish expression "maybe this will help you remember" and ran to Kakashi with a small pot in hand at a speed he wouldn't have thought possible for a still pregnant women (to which Sakumo reacted with a yelp) and shoved a wooden spoon full of tomato sauce into Kakashi's mouth which was hanging open from the shock of Kushina's speed. When he tasted the sauce memories of the time when he first arrived at Minato's house sprung to his mind. Memories of the pretty blond that had given him his sleeping bag, memories of running around the house yelling out Ka-chan, memories of the blond rocking him to sleep as he cried for Sakumo, and memories of having lunch with two smiling blonds. "Ka…ka-chan?" Kakashi muttered breaking his thoughts "B-But how, your hair is red…where have you been" Kushina's expression when he looked up was of pure joy. "Yay" she clapped excitedly "You do remember, I was out in Usigakure these past nine months, family business" she said with a tone hinting at famiglia rather than family "As for my hair, it was a wig, more of a disguise ya' know" "No I don't know, would you care to explain" said Kakashi with a confused yet demanding voice. Kushina said with the saddest puppy dog face that downright melted Sakumo's heart "knew what?" asked Sakumo in a daze, Kakashi smirked at the scene playing out in front of him "Aniki" she continued with her charade "Tell me who else knew " Sakumo answered in his trance like state " Both families Mikoto, Hiashi, Tsume, Hitomi, Lavina" hearing that name Kakashi reacted "Dad!" he yelled taking Sakumo out of his trance, and receiving a pout from Kushina for ruining her fun. "What is it pup?" "You promised to tell me what happened to mom so honor you word and tell me." Sakumo being a man of his word looked back and forth between Kakashi and Kushina who insisted on doing chores. "How about this" he said with a business man tone, "I'll prepare the food while Kyudaime here tells you all about Lavina" Kakashi was about to argue when he saw how Kushina's eyes lit up with pride and glee over her friend, "fine." and with that Sakumo took the pot with tomato sauce and headed to the kitchen while Kakashi, Naruto, and Kushina headed to the bed. "Tell me; what was Okami-no going to tell you about?" "Well" he said swaying a bit with Naruto in his arms, "Dad told me last night I would have had a brother if it hadn't been for kumo-nin, and that they were the reason why he sent me to live with To-chan." "Wait a minute…wait a minute" Kushina interrupted, "Sakumo-ni sent you to me not Minato" "Yeah...I guess it doesn't really matter anymore does it" he said pained with events of the prior night "Yeah…well enough about that, you wanted to know about your mom right?" she asked with a smile. "Actually I would rather know…how is it that you could smile when just yesterday…just yesterday" he could not bring himself to say it as tears welled up in his eyes but did not fall. "Kakashi come here" she said in a motherly tone "I could smile because I have Mr. Fishcake here" she said as she hugged Kakashi "and Tuna Rex is on his way, and I still have you your father and many others, that's why I don't cry, and besides how can I cry when Mina-chan is dead because of me ttebane" her voice cracked and she tightened her hug on Kakashi. Kakashi felt ashamed how could he doubt Kushina's love for To-chan over a simple sad little smile, and now he'd opened the wounds in her heart that were doing their best to heal. "No" Kakashi said "That monster killed him not you" he said referring to Kuruma with all the hate he could muster "Kakashi-kun please don't hate Kuruma-sama" "WHAT!" yelled Kakashi anger rising and would have kept on yelling had he not woken up Naruto who began to cry. He looked down at the baby in his arms and his anger resided as he saw Minato in the child. His anger became sorrow "How could I not hate that demon, he killed Tou-chan?" he walked over to Kushina and put the baby in her arms. "Kashi-kun Kuruma was being controlled he would never have hurt Minato if it weren't so" "How do you know that? That thing was a monster" "Kuruma would never have hurt Minato willingly because hurting would hurt me" "So what…why would that stop the Kyubbi from" "BECAUSE I WAS THE JINJURIKI OF THE NINE TAILS FOR ALL THESE YEARS" Kushina yelled making Naruto cry yet again. "and as of yesterday night Naruto has taken up the recently opened post" she said in a fairly audible, and feeble whisper. Tears fell from her eyes onto the quilted bed, but then she smiled and looked up "they're heroes ya know, the both of them and Kuruma will protect him like he protected me all those years." Kakashi's hatred for the beast dwindled. "But the fox killed him! How can I not hate that thing?!" "Kashi-kun, you do realize that Kuruma wasn't the only one at fault don't you?, Minato also died because of the effects of the sealing and now Naruto holds Kuruma in him making them part of each other, does that mean you will hate him along with Kuruma?" Kakashi was stumped, in just a few hours he'd fallen for the child's charm, he could not hate the child that looked so much like Tou-chan, not only that, he realized he would give his life to protect this kid. His train of thought was interrupted when he felt the warm embrace from Kushina "Please don't hate Kuruma-sama" she whispered in his ear "he is not evil, plus he's probably already hating himself for hurting Minato". "It's ok, I won't hate him anymore… in fact I will learn to work with him for Naruto's sake" He looked at the child and remembered what they were going to talk about in the first place. "Hehehe" he chuckled wiping the tears from his eyes that he hadn't even noticed "So…I thought you were going to tell me about mom". At that very moment Sakumo walked in "Breakfast is ready, eat it before it gets cold" "I'll tell after breakfast…Ok?, I'm really hungry" she said as her stomach growled in support.
