Mutants of the mansion

Chapter 24

I hope you all realise that this has been going for almost a year now. You've all been following the fanfiction of a 16-17 year old. You're all awesome. I'm going to miss this fanfiction when I finish it.

(Jubilee)

I tapped the heel and toe of my boots against the wall to make sure that they still fit. Surprisingly, being lined with adamantium mesh didn't make them uncomfy. Thats what Tony did to my outfit. He added invisible adamantium mesh to everything so that I didn't get seriously hurt. For my gloves and boots, they respond to the heat of when I'm about to fly, and holes open up so I don't destroy part of my outfit. Thats kinda what happened before. It just didn't bother me.

"Ready to test this stuff?" Tony asked, walking by and ruffling my hair. My shades fell over my eyes and I pushed them back up. Reminds me of everytime Wolvie did that. I miss him.

"You're asking that like I'm going to say no."

"You never know. You might want to stand infront of a fan and look dramatic." I pondered on that for a second.

"That actually sounds like a good idea."

"Well, I don't have a fan."

"Way to get my hopes up." I grumbled, rolling my eyes and following him down to his training area. Apparently, the Danger Room wasn't good enough. I flexed my hands and noticed that something was different. It felt like I had caps on each of my fingers. Now that I'm checking, my gloves feel completely different. "What exactly did you do to my gloves?" I asked as I watched him put his suit on.

"I modified your gloves the most. See that steel panel?"

"The target? Yeah."

"Do you think you could punch through it?" I'm a scrawny teenager. No way. "Well, go and try." He continued when I shook my head. This time, I shrugged and started running towards the thick sheet of metal. I pulled my arm back and thrust it into the metal as hard as I possibly could. It almost crumbled under the force. I didn't expect that, so I slipped and continued forward, crashing into the bent metal and falling to the floor in a heap. "You okay?"

"I didn't expect that." Pulling myself up, I inspected the damage that I'd caused. "What did you do?"

"I gave you a little bit of extra strength."

"You say 'little' like I didn't just dent 5 inches of steel." I tried pushing it with my foot. Nothing. I tried bending it. It moved!

"How about we get you started on flying?" I turned and saw him fully suited up. "In the actual city. I tried that simulation you made and it just doesn't feel right."

"It feels right when Sabretooth's trying to claw you." Iron man gave a laugh and put a arm around my shoulders.

"First time with the ability to fly?"

"Actually, no. I could one time, but that was more like antigravity. I never really practiced with it. I thought it was just some random thing."

"It could have been an attempt at your new powers to come through."

"Yeah, then my leg got busted and I couldn't do it." We walked until we were stood on the edge of the tower, the city spread out beneath us. I could barely see the people down there. Alot of people say that their stomachs drop when they're at heights like this, but I can't say it scares me. I feel perfectly fine. "You're not going to push me, are you?" He gave a fake and dramatic gasp.

"You dare suggest? I would never do such a thing!" I turned around and gave him a questioning look. "Nah, I ain't gonna push you." With a shrug, I turned back to the edge.

"But walking off on the other hand." I smiled, stepping off the building. The wind rushing past my body felt nice. I nodded my shades over my eyes and let my powers kick in. Dying is the last thing I'd like. If I wanted to dissapear, I'd just walk away. With a smile, I felt my gloves open and I was thrust towards the nearest building. I'm actually better at this than before! Well, considering that the last time I used these powers was by accident and I almost cracked my head open on the pavement. Tony caught upto me almost instantly.

"You're insane, do you know that?"

"With insanity comes brilliance!" I glanced down and saw people staring up at us with wonder. I wonder if I can land right. I lowered myself to the ground, stopping my powers, landing and walking when I was at the right height. I attempted to look cool by adjusting my coat and pushing my shades up, but I managed to trip over my feet and land on somebody. A few people laughed. Somehow, it was the girl from the clothes shop. "Hey, fancy meeting you here." smiled, pushing myself up and offering my hand. "You alright?"

"I'm fine." She smiled, dusting herself off. "Now I understand what you meant." I got a good look at her this time. Her hair was the same colour as mine but only a bit longer. She wore frameless glasses over her brown eyes and she stood a few inches taller than me. It was a warm day. Thats why she as dressed in a short-sleeved t-shirt and light blue jeans. "By the way, I'm Karliah."

"Jubilee." I smiled, going to shake her hand. Before I could, some guy shoved me away.

"Don't even try and touch her again, you damned mutant!" He was bald and fat. "You're just going to attack her when she least expects it!" I got up and looked at him.

"Why the hell would I do that?"

"The only thing you mutants want is to kill all of us humans!" With a smirk, Karliah moved him out of the way.

"Not all of us." She raised a hand and the guy almost tripped over himself trying to move away when her arm dissapeared. "Some of us only want to live in peace." He pulled back and swung his fist directly her her face. I jumped in and held my hand out to block the blow. He screamed in pain and clutched his hand.

"Alright, that's enough." I could hear the annoyance in Tony's voice as he walked towards us. All I could concentrate on was the approching news van.

(Back at Xavier's school...)

Quiet in the mansion had become a regular thing. Nobody had much to say to eachother. The most noise in the house was from the TV. Wolverine, Rogue and Gambit were watching the news absent-mindedly, Storm was sat on the balcony, Jean and Cyclops were sat in the kitchen, drinking tea and Kitty, Bobby and Beast were training in the danger room. Nobody really reacted when the motorbike pulled up and Laura got off. The X-men only started reacting when she kicked the door in.

"Laura? What the hell are you doing, girl?!" Wolverine demanded, almost jumping up from his seat.

"Which one of you was it." She growled. Everybody had gathered around the angry clone. Even the three that had previously been in the Danger room.

"What are you talking about?"

"One of you tried to kill her. Who was it." Most of them looked confused. They all looked slightly scared since this was Wolverine's clone. Something from the TV peaked Rogue's interest and she walked back into the room.

"Laura, we have no idea who you're on about."

"One of you tried to kill Jubilee." They were all sent into stunned silence. X-23 still looked furious, but the adults were confused. Storm looked close to tears. "Which one of you was it?" Before any of them could answer, a shaky voice came from the TV room.

"Guys? Y'all might wanna see this." They all milled into the TV room. A live, special news report was on. Currently, it was Iron Man without the helmet.

"Mr. Stark, is it true that you're harbouring a mutant?"

"I'm not 'harbouring' anyone. She's a child of one of my good friends." The camera was moving around slightly, and occasionally caught glimpses of unruly black hair and pink sunglasses.

"It is my understanding that she injured a member of the public."

"I did nothing to that guy! I only stopped him from hitting my friend!" Clear as day, Jubilation Lee pushed Iron Man out of the way to be seen. The room was stunned into silence. Nohing had changed about her. Well, since they saw her last, anyway. She still had the same faint scarring on her face from where part of it was blown off, and a blue eye and a green eye. Nobody knew what to say.

"Do you know why he tried to hit your friend?"

"Probably because he's a jerk and we're mutants. I don't get why people hate us just because we have special powers. I know that there are bad mutants out there. I'm not denying that. But not all of us are like that. Some humans are bad, too. Should I instantly think that about every human I see?"

"Well, I'm not a bad human."

"I know that. I know that Tony isn't either. People that just assume are the worst kind. You can't just assume that I want to kill you, because I don't." A few people smirked at that.

"Do you know any bad mutants?"

"Of course I do. Sabretooth, Mystique, Magneto. There is also one that was supposed to be a close friend but tried to kill me." You could almost feel the tension in the room. Before anything else could be said, Cyclops turned the TV off.

"The hell'd you do that for, Cy?"

"Laura, what exactly did Jubilee say? Did she tell you who it was?"

"I asked many times, but I did not get a name. I didn't even get a gender. She told me that if I knew who the person was, I would take them out. I was told that she wanted to deal with them herself."

"So, the Kid's in New York." Wolverine hummed, giving the shocked Rogue a nudge.

"No. You're not going to get her." Laura narrowed her eyes at Logan.

"You think you're going to stop me?"

"Any of you could be the culprit."

"Are you crazy?" It was the first time that Storm had spoken. "None of us have reasons to want her gone!"

"Somebody obviously did. I can bring her back here, if you wish." The response was an all around 'yes'. Even from Kitty. "ake sure that nobody leaves. If they do, I will take that as a sign that they are the guilty person." With that, Laura turned and left the house, shortly followed by leaving on her bike. The mansion stayed silent again, mostly due to the fact of everybody suspecting eachother.

A new chapter within a few days? What is this sorcery?
