A/N: Another week ends (Just where in the heck did March go?) so here is another chapter. I hope you like it, not entirely happy with it but we are getting to the good stuff now. Thanks for the reviews, follows and favourites.
Chapter 19:
"I have some good news to tell you" Scotty announced, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
"Oh yeah, what?" Lilly snuggled closer to him.
"Jack came over to my desk tonight before he left he said that he and agent Carter decided that it would be a good time for me to take point on an investigation"
Lilly lifted her head off his chest and grinned at her husband "really? That's great baby, congratulations"
He smiled "thanks Querida"
"So what's the case?" she asked him curiously "or are you not allowed to talk about it?"
Scotty chuckled and leant over the side of the bed, picking up the manila case file and holding it out to her "it's a trafficking case, the 18th street Mexicali's are bringing young girls up from Mexico over the boarder to work in brothels that they are runnin', girls as young as 13 are being forced into prostitution"
"Oh God" Lilly murmured as she flipped open the file and began to read, frowning with concentration "I've heard of this guy, Angel Ruiz…he was the prime suspect in a series of homicides a few years back"
Scotty looked over her shoulder "yeah, he's one of the top Lieutenants for the Mexicalis"
"Would love to get him off the streets, but that drug money buys him some of the best lawyers in Philly, and my suspicions are that their retainers don't just involve ridiculous amounts of cash"
Scotty nodded "yeah, that's what the ADA was telling us yesterday" Scotty replied as he took the file back from her "you know anything about this new ADA, I can't really get a read on her"
Lilly sighed "our paths have crossed ADA Alexandra Thomas, a grade A bitch"
Scotty smirked "yeah, figured that out for myself"
"She's been blocking a few of our warrant requests lately because, according to her, the cases aren't a priority"
"I'll make sure I give her hell for you"
Lilly grinned and leaned in to kiss him "my hero" she rested her head back down onto his chest wrapping her arm around him and sighed "just be careful ok"
"I'll be fine baby, piece of cake"
"I am serious Scotty, don't go doing something stupid"
Scotty sighed; his wife was such a worry wart, he pressed a kiss to the top of her head "don't worry baby, I'll be fine…..trust me"
"I do trust you Scotty; it's the criminal element of Philly that I don't trust"
"Get some sleep Querida" Scotty chided her gently.
The next few weeks were hectic, with the pregnancy and Scotty's and Lilly's workloads keeping them both extremely busy. Lilly had entered her fourth month of pregnancy and much to her delight she was finally feeling the baby moving around. She liked nothing more than to lie in bed and rest her hands on her abdomen, feeling the fluttering of movement, it was something she's liked doing when she was pregnant with the triplets.
Scotty was working his butt off to prove himself to Jack and Agent Carter, this was his first opportunity to be a lead agent on a case and he wasn't about to let them down by blowing it.
He was putting in more hours than he had before, often being the first person in and the last person to leave at night.
It was just coming into December and the snow was starting to fall, crisp white blankets covered the lawn every morning as Scotty got up to go to work. He would wake up before 5, take Humphrey for a quick run around the block, come home, feed him, shower, shave and would have just enough time to kiss his kids and wife goodbye before grabbing a bagel to eat on the way into work.
Once at work, he'd make himself a very strong cup of coffee, sit himself down at his desk or in front of the whiteboard and start to work. Trying desperately to find something that he had missed that might blow this case wide open.
He leave after 8 and get home just in time to tuck the kids into bed before having left overs and falling into bed beside his wife.
Lilly noticed how exhausted her husband was, and knew the amount of stress he was putting on himself but also knew that he wasn't going to complain to her about it. She was watching TV in bed when she heard him ascending the stairs and his tired eyes said it all as he finally pushed open the door.
"Hey Querida, sorry I am late"
Lilly smiled at him "that's alright; Chris helped me give the kids a bath and feed them" Scotty sighed and Lilly knew that he was regretting not being home for his family "I worked out my Maternity leave with HR today" Lilly began "I am going on desk duty in my eight month, I'll work right up until the baby is born and then taking three months off"
Scotty smiled at her tiredly as he stripped off his tie and started to unbutton his shirt "That's good Lil" he replied as he lowered himself down onto his side of the bed.
An idea suddenly hit her as to how she might be able to relieve some of her husband's stress and so she crawled up behind him and began to knead his shoulders finding them tense.
"Oh Lil, that feels so good" Scotty moaned as his head dropped forward.
Lilly giggled to herself and pressed a kiss to the back of his neck "you know if you lie down, I can give you a more thorough massage" she whispered in his ear.
Scotty didn't need to be asked twice, he removed button down and undershirt and the couple shifted so that Scotty was lying face down on the mattress, his face buried in the pillows and Lilly straddled him. She leant over to her side of the bed and grabbed the massage oil that she kept in her drawer, squirted some into her hands and began to rub down his tight back muscle's hoping that she was helping alleviate some of his stress.
If the moans and groans he was emitting was any indication he was definitely enjoying what she was doing to him "Lil, oh God don't stop that feels amazing" he mumbled into the pillows.
"Glad I could help, you've seemed so stressed lately"
Scotty sighed and turned his head to the side so he could talk more clearly to her "I know, I am sorry it's just this case isn't going as well as I hoped"
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"This massage is helping" Scotty answered, grinning as his eyes closed and he began to allow Lilly's gentle kneading to help him drift off to sleep.
Lilly chuckled "I am glad"
That's when she felt it, it wasn't overly noticeable but still she did feel it. Her hands stopped massaging her husband's lower back and came to rest on her bump a grin spreading across her face.
"Oh Lil, don't stop"
"Scotty….I…I think the baby just kicked" she whispered softly, rubbing the place she had felt the tiny punch.
"What?" He was wide awake now and he manoeuvred onto his back lifting his hands to rest where hers were. He sat up and Lilly grabbed one of his hands, sliding it underneath hers "are you sure you felt it?" he asked after a few moments.
"Just give her time" Lilly scolded gently.
She felt it again and judging by the smile that spread across his face, Scotty had felt it too "hey there little one" he whispered "it's your Daddy"
The punch came again and Lilly chuckled "I think she is saying hello to her Daddy"
"He's a smart boy already" Scotty replied sounding pretty chuffed.
Scotty leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers, gently brushing her long hair off her shoulders "I love you" he whispered against her lips.
"I love you more" Lilly countered
"Not possible Querida"
Lilly grinned broadly as their lips met again, Scotty guiding his tongue over her own, his fingers threading through her long hair.
"MUMMY!"
Laura's scream broke the couple apart and Scotty sighed as Lilly climbed off him and picked up her bathrobe "I'll be right back"
He lay back against the pillows and closed his eyes, thinking that he'd just rest them until Lilly got back.
When Lilly came back into the bedroom, she found her husband fast asleep, snoring softly and clutching his pillow to his side. She smiled warmly and bent down to press a kiss to his forehead, chuckling softly as he mumbled in his sleep.
"Night Scotty, I love you"
She crawled into bed beside him, lifting his arm and draping it over herself so she could snuggle closer to him and soon she too was fast asleep.
It was Christmas Eve and Lilly was in the backyard with Chris Scotty and the triplets, building a snowman. Lilly, whose back was beginning to hurt her lately, was sitting beside the oak tree on the picnic table. She watched her kids; husband and sister mound together the big pile of snow for the body, and her children giggling with delight.
"I don't think I've had this much fun since we were kids" Chris commented as she and Scotty lifted the snowman's head in place "and I haven't made a snowman in years"
"The kids love it" Scotty replied cheerily as he pulled a carrot out of his coat pocket "when I was growing up, Mike, Ma, Dad and I would always build a snowman on Christmas Eve, it was nice…Dad would close the Deli early and come home with leftovers and we'd have our own little feast"
Lilly smiled lovingly at her husband, he was just a big kid himself, especially at Christmas. She remembered their first Christmas together, listening to him telling her all about the best memories of Christmas, dragging her out late one night to get her a Christmas tree for her apartment and insisting that she decorate her living room. At first she hadn't seemed all that enthusiastic about celebrating the holiday she usually avoided, but after a few days of his infectious good mood and hearing him singing Christmas carols in Spanish, she couldn't help but fall more in love. With both him and the holiday season.
"There, all done" Scotty replied, dusting the excess snow from his gloves.
"He looks good Daddy"
"Yeah, you guys did a really good job" Lilly commented knowingly as she rubbed her belly, feeling a small punch in return.
Scotty smiled his mischievous smile and bent down "I guess all that's left to do….is….." He quickly threw a ball of fresh snow towards his three children, who immediately shrieked with laughter, each making their own snowball to pelt at their father.
Lilly and Chris laughed as Scotty allowed himself to be cornered by the oak tree, roaring with laugher as his children toppled him and dog piling on top of him in the snow.
"Now its Mummy's turn" Laura announced after she sobered.
"Oh yeah" Scotty replied grinning over at his wife.
"Don't you dare" Lilly said sternly as her husband dusted the snow off his coat and walked towards her.
He didn't heed her warning glare and instead threw a snowball at her, wet and cold snow hit her and despite the shock of the icy water seeping through her clothes, she couldn't help but smile.
"You are a dead man" Lilly whispered murderously and she grabbed a fistful of his coat, dragging him down to kiss him. Distracted by the feeling of his sexy wife's lips and tongue caressing his own he didn't notice Lilly's hand, release his coat and palm a large amount of snow from the table top and slowly bring it up to his head.
Scotty jerked as Lilly smashed the snow ball into his thick hair and Lilly giggled, pulling away from him.
He chuckled as he wiped the snow away from his eyes and slid an arm around her.
"Guess you got me" Scotty whispered.
"Guess I did"
"I'll have to pay you back for that later" he added suggestively
"Looking forward to it" she countered, winking at him before she returned her attention to her children, bundling them inside and insisting that they all needed a warm bath and a cup of hot coco.
Scotty watched his family move back inside the house, sighing happily to himself before he whistled for Humphrey and headed after them.
A/N: Ohhhhhhh another sweet Valens family moment.
