A/n: Its the Easter long weekend here in Australia and I am sitting here, happy that I am off work for the next few days and thought I would post the next chapter. Thanks for those that have reviewed/ Favourite or followed this story.

Chapter 22

Scotty pulled into the driveway and he and Jack got out of the car "You sure your wife won't mind me coming home for dinner?" Jack asked as they walked up the path.

Scotty nodded "she's fine, I already called and asked her"

Scotty pushed open the front door and he and Jack shed their coats.

"Daddy" Laura came running down the stairs, leaping off the landing and into his arms.

"Hey princesa" Scotty replied and he pressed a kiss to her cheek.

"Who's that?" Laura asked, pointing at Jack.

"This is Daddy's partner, Agent Jack"

"Hello" Laura said

"Hi" Jack replied

Scotty lowered Laura back down to the ground "where's Mummy?"

"Mummy is in the kitchen with Aunty Chris"

After he and Jack safely stowed their guns, Scotty showed Jack into the kitchen.

"Hey baby" Lilly said as her husband walked into the kitchen.

Scotty walked over to her and pressed a kiss to her lips and ran a hand over her bump "Hey Querida"

"Hi Jack" Lilly said as her hands dropped from around her husband's waist

"Hey Lil, you look great"

Lilly smiled "thanks, oh you haven't met my sister" Lilly gestured over to Chris "Jack this is Christina, Chris this is Scotty's partner Jack Schneider"

Jack could have sworn his heart skipped a beat when his eyes fell on Christina. She was possibly the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on.

"Hi" he said, finally managing to compose himself "nice to meet you"

"Same here" Christina replied "you guys want a beer?" she asked, looking between him and Scotty.

"Sounds good" Scotty replied "you want one Jack?"

"Yeah, thanks"

Scotty retrieved two beers from the fridge and handed him one "let's see if we can get a start on those files before dinner" Scotty remarked as he led him out of the kitchen.

"Yeah ok"

Scotty frown "you alright man?"

Jack cleared his throat "yeah, of course. Guess I am just tired"

The answer seemed to satisfy Scotty who nodded and showed him into the office.

After Scotty and Jack left the kitchen, Chris returned her attention back to chopping the vegetables.

Jack was without a doubt the best looking guy she'd seen in years and from the way he filled out a suit, Chris could tell he was definitely fit.

"Jack seemed like a nice guy" She commented

"Yeah, he is. Scotty and he get along well" Lilly replied as she started laying lasagne sheet in a dish.

"I bet his wife worries about him; I mean if you weren't a cop you'd worry about Scotty right?"

Lilly looked up from spooning in a ladle full of pasta sauce into the dish to stare at her sister. Why was her sister acting so weird all of a sudden? "He and his wife got divorced last year"

"Oh, that's a shame"

"Yeah, it is" Lilly replied, still looking at her sister with suspicion "why are you asking these questions about Jack?"

"No reason" Chris replied quickly "just curious. I am gonna go set the table" and she left the kitchen without another word.

It was at that moment that Lilly realised what was going on, her sister had a crush on Scotty's partner and now that she thought about it, the way Jack was acting when he saw Chris, well he might just like her too.

Lilly sighed as she put the lasagne in the oven; she only hoped that her baby sister didn't do anything stupid.

Dinner had been interesting for Lilly, watching her sister and Jack try and hide the fact that they were attracted to each other. Watching them try and have casual conversations with each other and trying not to stare at each other was rather amusing to the pregnant detective, even more so than the fact her husband seemed oblivious to his partner's new infatuation.

Lilly looked over at her children, noticing that they all looked rather tired "I think I am going to put the kids to bed and hit the sack myself, I am rather tired"

"Okay Querida"

Lilly stood up and pressed a kiss to the top of Scotty's head "Come on kids, time for bed"

They pushed their chairs back and got up "Can you read me a story tonight Daddy?" Laura asked hopefully as she gave her father a hug.

"Not tonight Princesa, but I am sure Mummy will read you one"

Lilly nodded "come on sweetheart, you go upstairs and get ready for bed and I'll read you your favourite story"

"Ok, night Auntie Chris, night agent Jack"

Jack grinned "good night sweetie"

"Sweet dreams Laura"

Lilly led the kids up the stairs and helped the kids get ready for bed.

Lilly was just drifting off to sleep when she felt Scotty's side of the bed dip and his arm slide around her waist.

"I didn't expect you to come to bed so quickly" Lilly mumbled sleepily.

He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck "I can go if you want me to?"

"No, don't" Lilly replied, hugging his arms against her, Scotty chuckled and kissed her again "did you drop Jack home?"

Scotty sighed contentedly "no"

"So is he sleeping on that crappy couch?"

"No, Chris offered to give him a lift home"

Lilly rolled over to face him "Chris drove him home?"

Scotty nodded "yeah, so what. She said that she'd do it so I could get some sleep"

"Didn't you notice the way they were looking at each other at dinner, and when you introduced them?"

Scotty frowned in confusion "no, why?"

Lilly rolled her eyes "Oh Scotty, I love you but you can be really blind to what's in front of you sometimes"

"What are you talking about Lil?" Scotty asked

"I think they were attracted to each other, no, I know they were attracted to each other"

Scotty shook his head "Jack and Chris? No Lil I don't think so, he didn't even mention her when we were working"

"Well, he wouldn't have would he, you're his partner and she's your sister-in-law"

Scotty sighed "Do you want me to warn him off her?" he asked, running his thumb across her cheek.

Lilly thought for a few moments and then shook her head "No don't, Jack's a nice guy"

"Are you sure Baby, cause if it bothers you…"

"No it'll be fine" Lilly assured him and she leaned forward and kissed him "any way, you're here and the kids are asleep…."

Scotty chuckled and pulled her closer "I like the way you think"

He pressed his lips to hers, threading his fingers through her hair.

"My place is just around the corner" Jack said as Chris turned into the street "thanks for this"

"No problem, I was thinking of meeting some friend's downtown"

She pulled over where he indicated "thanks" Jack replied as he unbuckled his belt

"You're welcome"

Jack got out of the car and shut the door, Chris sighed and was about to pull away from the curb when she heard a tap on the window and she looked up, it was Jack. She rolled down the window "I was….um….I was wondering if you wanted to maybe want to go to dinner with me tomorrow night?"

"You're asking me out?"

Jack smiled slightly "yeah, why not"

"Okay, sure"

"Perfect, I pick you up at your place tomorrow"

Lilly sighed and looked at the clock radio, 11:59, where in the hell was her sister; she should have been back by now.

"Are you still awake, baby?" Scotty asked sleepily.

"I can't sleep" Lilly replied "Chris isn't back yet"

Scotty sighed and sat up, scrubbing a hand over his tired face "She's probably went out with friends"

"She would have called"
"Probably didn't wanna wake you up Lil, come on just lie down here and get some sleep"

The front door opened and Scotty sighed "see, she's home now"

"I think I am gonna go check"

Lilly slipped out of bed before Scotty could stop her and he watched as his wife disappear out into the hallway.

Chris looked up as her sister descended the stairs "what are you doing up?"

"I couldn't sleep, where were you?"

Chris shrugged "I went for a drive; I wanted to clear my head"

Lilly smiled slightly "so you like him don't you?"

"Who, Jack? He's a nice guy. He actually asked me out….that's ok right?"

Lilly grinned "yeah, it's alright"

Chris seemed to sigh with relief "well I better get some sleep, I have work in the morning"

Lilly watched her sister disappear down the hallway to the den and shut the door.

Lilly returned to the bedroom and slide into bed beside her husband and she felt Scotty's arms encircle her "Jack asked Chris out"

She told him softly.

"Is that a good thing?"

Lilly shrugged "I guess so, I mean Jack's a good guy….Chris could do worse"

Scotty pressed a kiss to the back of her neck and sighed "do you want me to talk to Jack"

"No, don't….I don't want Chris to be mad at me" Lilly lifted one of his hands up to her lips and pressed a kiss to the back of it "I love you"

Scotty smiled and pulled her tighter against him "I love you too"

"You look really pretty Aunty Chris" Laura replied as she sat on the edge of the foldaway, looking up at her aunt in awe "like a princess"

Chris smiled "thanks sweetie"

"Where are you and Agent Jack going?"

"We are going for dinner and a movie"

"Michael and me are going to see a movie on the weekend, his Mummy is taking us" Laura announced happily

"Ooooh, your first date"

Laura blush "can I tell you a secret Aunty Chris?"

Chris nodded "I can keep a secret"

"Michael asked me to be his girlfriend"

Chris chuckled "you better not tell your Daddy that"

Laura frowned, tilting her head to one side "why?"

Chris shook her head "never mind sweetie, why don't you go see what your brothers are up too"

Laura nodded and slid off the bed, hurrying out of the room.

Chris let out a breath and took one last look in the mirror, surveying her appearance. It had been awhile since she'd been on a date, and even longer for a date with a decent guy.

"Don't worry so much"

Chris looked over to the door and saw her sister standing in the doorway, her hand resting on her bump "I am a little nervous, I don't wanna blow it"

Lilly smiled and walked over to the sister, brushing her hair off her baby sisters shoulder and running her fingers through it like she did when she was little "you won't blow it"

The doorbell rang and Chris jumped slightly "he's here"

Lilly grinned "just relax and have fun"

Chris nodded and walked out of the room and down the hallway to the front door.

She opened the front door and found Jack standing on the door step, his black hair lightly stilled with gel and the dark blue dress shirt hugging his well-toned body.

"Wow you look beautiful"

Chris blushed "thanks, you look pretty good yourself"

"You ready?"

Chris nodded and she followed him down the path to the curb to his car.
