Chapter 24

Lilly thumbed through the mail as she made her way back into the kitchen, pausing when she found a white envelope addressed to her and Scotty in gold calligraphy.

"Oh look baby, its Lindsay and David's wedding invitation"

Scotty looked up from the dishes and smiled "Oh really, when is it?"

Lilly tossed the rest of the mail on the counter and opened the white envelope carefully and took out the card "looks like she and David are getting married next month on Valentine's Day, that's romantic"

"Well I suppose that it would be easy for him to remember their anniversary" Scotty replied teasingly.

Lilly grinned and pinned the invitation on the bulletin board "On the 14th I'll be over 7 months pregnant and Lindsay was saying something about me being a bridesmaid, what am I gonna wear? A tent?"

Scotty dried his hands on a tea towel and slid his arms around Lilly's waist "You are gonna look gorgeous in whatever you wear, you always do" Lilly smiled at him as he lowered his head to kiss her.

The phone rang and Lilly sighed, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before extracting herself from his arms and picking up the receiver "Hello"

"Hey Lil, It's only me"

"Oh hey Lindsay, we just got the invitation"

"Oh perfect, you still up to being my maid of honour right?"

Lilly sighed "I don't know Linds; I mean I doubt I'll find anything that would fit"

Lindsay chuckled "Don't worry about that, are you free this Saturday…we are going to look at wedding dress and bridesmaid stuff"

Lilly ran a hand through her hair "yeah I suppose"

"Great, I see you on Saturday"

Lindsay gave her directions to a wedding dress store in Centre City and Lilly copied it down, she sighed as she hung up the phone.

"Why do I let myself get talked into these things?" Lilly asked

Scotty grinned "Lindsay is your oldest friend Querida of course you wanna be her bridesmaid"

"You gonna be free to come with me to the wedding?" Lilly asked him

"Spending time with my gorgeous pregnant wife on Valentine's Day or working? Of course I am going with you"

Lilly smiled "great, because I think you look really sexy in a tux"

Scotty tugged her back into his arms "maybe you can help pick one out later"

Lilly giggled "oh are you gonna put on a fashion show for me?"

Scotty leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her neck "how about a strip tease instead"

The sound of someone clearing their throat made them break apart and they turned to see Chris standing in the archway the led to the living room "you two are acting like a pair of horny teenagers" Chris replied in amusement.

Scotty cleared his throat scratching the back of his head "I think I might go see what the kids are up too, seems too quiet up there" and he walked out of the kitchen.

Lilly chuckled "sorry about that" she said to her sister "he was like this when I was pregnant with the triplets, we went at it like rabbits"

Chris scowled "I don't think I really wanted to know that" she confessed

Lilly rolled her eyes "oh grow up Chris"

"Can I ask you something?"

Lilly nodded "sure" replied as she started to put the dinner dishes away

Chris sighed "It's about Jack and me"

Lilly paused and turned around "alright"

"How long did you date before you and Scotty started…you know"

Lilly grinned "a second ago you were grossed out and now you want details?"

Chris shook her head "no not details, just how long after you started to date did you first sleep together?"

Lilly sighed wistfully "to tell you the truth, I wanted to jump him on your first date but I didn't. Something about him made me not want to blow it, so we waited. It was our third date when he made dinner for me at his apartment. Why did you wanna know?"

"Well tomorrow night will be Jack and my fourth date, and we've kiss but that's as far as it has gone"

"Do you want to sleep with him?" Lilly asked her sister

Chris nodded "yeah, I do. But I guess I am nervous…..the last time I slept with a man when I was sober was when I was fifteen"

"Who?" Lilly asked in amusement

"Steven Harris"

Now it was Lilly's turn to scowl "that scrawny kid that lived on our block?"

"Hey he said you kissed him first"

Lilly shook her head "God no, I wouldn't have touched him with a ten-foot-pole"

The sisters giggled and then Lilly sobered "so why are you hesitating with Jack?"

Chris shrugged "I guess I don't wanna ruin it"

Lilly frowned "Chris, if you want to take it to the next level, do it"

"You really think I should"

Lilly nodded "I think that you should do what makes you happy"

Chris nodded "thanks Lilly"

Lilly smiled and pulled her sister into a hug "no problem"

Jack took a swig from his beer as he stared at the TV screen, trying to relax after another long day at work. A knock on his door made him jump slightly and his reached for his service weapon before checking through the peephole to see who was at his door. He sighed and tossed his gun on the table beside the door and opened it.

"Chris, what are you doing here?"

She smiled "I wanted to see you, you're alone right?"

Jack nodded "yeah, of course…sorry come in"

He stood back and let her in "so what's up?" Jack asked

"Like I said I wanted to see you"

Jack grinned "I wanted to see you too" He slid his arms around her waist.

Chris rose up on tip toes and kissed him, sliding a hand around the back of his head, threading it through his hair.

He walked them back to towards the couch and Chris went willingly, her fingers unbuttoning his shirt as they went.

"Are you sure Chris? I am not forcing you"

Chris smiled "you're not, I want to"

Jack nodded "if you sure?"

Chris kissed him again "I'm sure"

Jack took her hand and led her down the hallway to his bedroom, not wanting their first time to be on that crappy couch.

Chris woke up the next morning, blinking at the harsh light that streamed into Jack's bedroom and she slowly sat up. She was all alone and for a moment she thought he'd left for work.

But then the door swung open and she looked up to see him coming into the bedroom, carrying a tray of pancakes and coffee.

"I thought I'd make you breakfast in bed" Jack said, smiling as she sat up. He lay the tray down on her lap and pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"Thanks"

"No problem, look I have to go into work. I'll leave you the spare key on the kitchen counter"

Chris smiled "Thanks"

"Or you can stay here all day if you like, and we can pick up where we left off tonight"

Chris grinned pressing a quick kiss to his lips "Have a good day"

Jack chuckled, sliding his badge into the waistband of his pants "I'll see you later then.

"See you later"

Jack whistled to himself as he made coffee in the break room "you sound happy this mornin'" Scotty commented

His partner turned around, finding his girlfriend's brother-in-law walking in, he definitely wasn't about to tell his partner and friend what he was up too last night.

"Just got up on the right side of the bed this morning" Jack replied

Scotty sighed "look man, I don't care that you and Chris are together. I just don't need to hear any details"

Jack nodded "got it"

"Come on man, put that crap down and I'll buy you a real up of coffee" Scotty suggested.

"Sounds good"
