Last chapter, I want to thank everyone that reviewed and followed this story. The third instalment is in the works and I hope to have it posted in the coming months. Plus I am also working on a different story that may be at least a two story arc as well.

Any way on with the final chapter. This is set a few weeks after Scotty has been released from hospital.

Chapter 31

Scotty was bored. With Lilly out of the house dropping off the kids at school and taking Amelia for a check-up he was all alone in the house. Humphrey lay at the foot of the bed, his head pillowed on his master's legs. He seemed to understand that his master wasn't 100% fit and the dog wasn't being his usual boisterous self.

It had been 6 weeks since he'd come home from the hospital and in that time, his wife and kids were treating him as an invalid. He hated feeling weak and helpless, he hated that Lilly wouldn't let him leave the house expect for his doctor appointments. The only thing about recovering from surgery he did like was that Lilly insisted on helping him shower in the mornings, not that they did anything while in the shower.

He felt like he was fit enough to make love to his wife but she was so far shutting him out. First it was that she couldn't because she had to wait 6 weeks after Amelia was born and now it was because she didn't want to strain his heart. All Scotty wanted to do was take his gorgeous and sexy wife in his arms and show her how much he loved her, show her that he was still the man that she fell in love with and married and not in the least bit weak.

He heard the front door opening and he smiled "Scotty, I am home" Lilly called out

"In here, where you left me tied to the bed" he replied teasingly and Lilly stuck her head in the door.

"I didn't tie you to the bed but I will if you don't behave yourself and rest"

Scotty rolled his eyes "I am rested Lil, I wanna go for a walk or take the kids to school" He slid out of bed and walked over to her "I want to make love with a certain hot blonde I know"

Lilly sighed "Scotty, we've been through this. Until your Doctor gives you the all clear I don't want to take the risk" Lilly insisted, setting down Amelia's car seat and wrapping her arms around his waist.

Scotty sighed and nodded "I know" He turned to his attention to his daughter "how's did my preciosa muñequita go at the doctor?" Scotty asked, undoing the straps and lifting her out, pressing kisses to her cheek as he cradled her against him "She's fine, gaining weight a she's even grown a little"

"You're getting bigger baby, huh?" He kissed her cheek again.

Amelia screwed up her face and started to cry and Lilly reached out for her "here, I'll go feed her"

Scotty shook her off "no, I got it. There is breast milk in the fridge right?"

Lilly nodded "Yeah"

"Well then I am gonna bond with my little girl and give her some lunch"

Lilly decided not to argue and let her husband carry on. After all up till now she'd been the one to fed, changed and bathed their daughter. Scotty didn't have much time to bond with her and he did have the right to.

He followed them into the kitchen, listening to Scotty speaking softly to Amelia in Spanish as he heated up the bottle.

"Do you have your doctor's appointment tomorrow?" Lilly asked

Scotty nodded, checking the temperature of the milk before feeding Amelia the bottle "yeah at 10, why?"

"It's just that I promised Boss that I'd bring Amelia in to meet everyone, figured we could do that on the way home from the doctor"

"Sure baby, we can do that"

Lilly kissed his cheek "I'm gonna take a quick shower"

"If you wait, I'll join you"

Lilly smiled "I'll be quicker if you stay here" she kissed him again and walked out of the kitchen

Scotty sat on the examination table watching the doctor prod and poke at his scar, listen at his chest and take his blood pressure. He'd been in here for 15 minutes already and all he wanted to do was ask the one question swirling around his brain.

"Everything is looking good Scotty, the incision is healing well" Dr Wallace said as Scotty started to button up his shirt "I am pleased with your recovery"

"That's great Doc, when do you think I'll be able to get back to work?"

Dr Wallace thought for a moment "I'd say another two weeks and you'll be able to return to light duties and after another month to make sure you're physically up for it I see no reason why you won't be back to full duties"

"Thanks Doc, going stir crazy at home"

Dr Wallace grinned "No problem Scotty….any other questions?"

Scotty cleared his throat and slid off the exam table, it was now or never "yeah, one I guess….when will my wife and I…..when would we be able...to..." he trailed off.

Dr Wallace chuckled knowing what he was trying to say "Scotty I'll tell you the same thing I tell all my post-surgery, when you can walk up three flights of stairs without being winded, you should be fine to resume a normal sex life"

Scotty patted Dr Wallace on the shoulder "thanks Doc"

"You're welcome Scotty; I'll see you in a few weeks"

Lilly sat in the waiting room with Amelia waiting for her husband to come out of his appointment. He told her that he wanted to go in alone and Lilly agreed. When she saw Scotty emerge from the office, a smile plastered across his face "I take it that everything went ok?"

Scotty nodded "Dr Wallace reckons I'll be able to get back on active duty by the end of next month"

"That's good" Lilly replied, standing up

"Come on, we better get a move on if Stillman wants to see this little one while she's awake"

"Sure" Lilly replied, following her husband down to the car.

The pulled up into the visitors car space and Lilly turned off the engine, sliding out from behind the wheel and unhooking her daughters car seat. "I'll meet you upstairs in a few minutes Lil, I just need to call Jack and tell him what the Doctor said" Scotty said as he got out of the car.

Lilly frowned "Oh ok"

"I'll be up in a bit"

She nodded "alright, I'll see you upstairs"

Scotty waited until Lilly disappeared upstairs before he headed for the stairwell on the far side of the lobby.

Stillman looked up from his desk as his favourite detective walked into the bullpen, and was immediately surrounded by practically every woman on the homicide floor. He heard them all gushing and fussing over Lilly's new baby and he chuckled too himself as he got to his feet and walked over to her.

"Hey Boss" Lilly replied "meet Amelia Gabriela"

Stillman grinned "She's gorgeous Lil"

"Wanna hold her? I could use a break she gets heavy after a while" Stillman seemed reluctant at first but then happily accepted the baby "there you go Amelia, go to Grandpa"

Stillman chuckled, it had been a long time since he held a baby in fact it was probably one of Lilly's triplets. Amelia looked at him through her beautiful brown eyes, yawning widely.

"Where is Scotty?"

"Down stairs, he had to call his office. The doctor told him that he could return to desk duty in a few weeks"

Stillman nodded towards his office and Lilly followed him in "how are you too handling all of it?"

Lilly sighed "we are doing ok I mean he's getting better so that's good"

"I'm glad Lil" Stillman replied "Oh before I forget I have something in my desk draw for my pseudo granddaughter"

Lilly smiled "you didn't have to do that Boss"

"Course I did, just open it"

Lilly sighed and opened his drawer, taking out the pink tissue wrapped parcel "Rita helped pick it out"

She smirked "so you and Rita are seeing a lot of each other huh?"

"Don't you start; I have already got my Daughter planning our second wedding"

Lilly giggled and opened the package, revealing a small pick onesie embroidered with a bumble bee "it's really sweet" Lilly replied holding it up. She walked over and pressed a kiss to his cheek "thanks Boss"

"Rush, you just can't stay away can you" Lilly turned around to see Vera leaning against the doorframe and she grinned

"Hey Nick, glad you missed me"

"Nah, not really" he teased

"I missed you too" she replied with a grin.

Vera looked at his Boss, holding the newborn in his arms "so is this the newest Valens rug rat?"

Lilly rolled her eyes "no, this is a loner baby" Lilly replied sarcastically

Vera nodded "thought so, way too cute to be Valens's kid" Vera teased and Lilly punched his arm

"Very funny" she retorted taking her daughter from her Boss "where are Will and Kat?" Lilly asked

"Out on an interview, should be back in a few minutes"

Lilly looked across the bullpen as the stairwell door opened and her husband emerged, looking around for her. "Excuse me for a second" she said as she walked over to him "did you just take the stairs?" she asked him curiously.

Scotty nodded a smile spreading across his face "hell yeah, all 6 flights"

"Why didn't you take the elevator?"

Scotty shrugged "doc says I need to do some more exercise"

"Oh okay then, here take your daughter. I need to use the bathroom"

Scotty took his daughter from her, pressing kiss to her pudgy cheeks "Ven aquí cariño, papa te tiene"

Lilly ran a hand over his arm and headed into the bathroom.

The elevator doors opened and Miller and Jefferies exited spotting Scotty standing near the bullpen entrance rocking a pink bundle of blankets up and down.

"Hey man, what are you doing up here?" Will asked, walking over to him and spotting the peacefully sleeping baby in his arms.

"Showing off Amelia" Scotty replied proudly

"She's a beauty man, congratulations" Will said warmly, clapping Scotty on the back.

"Thanks man"

"Is Lil here?" Kat asked, looking around the room for her colleague.

"She just went to the bathroom" Scotty answered.

"How you feeling Scotty?"

Scotty smiled "Yeah, I am alright. Doc says I can go back to active duty in a few months"

"That's good Scotty, bet you're itching to get back out there"

Scotty shrugged "I suppose, right now I am actually happy spending some more time with Lil and the kids"

Lilly appeared at his side and Scotty smiled at her "you wanna go querida, I think I am getting a bit tired"

"Oh sure baby"

"Nice to see you back Lil" Will said happily, pressing a kiss to her cheek

"Yeah, hurry up and get off maternity leave I am sick of being the only girl in the squad"

Lilly grinned "well I am off for another month" Lilly replied, running her hand over her daughters head "we better get this one to bed, it's past her nap time"

"Have a good nap Valens" Nick teased Scotty who simply rolled his eyes and followed Lilly.

They bid goodbye to Lilly's colleagues and headed down to the car.

Lilly walked out of the nursery, almost walking head long into Scotty. "Oh you scared me"

Scotty grinned, sliding his hands around her waist and pulling her against him, pressing kisses down her neck "is she asleep?" Scotty muttered against her neck.

"Yeah she is"

"I forgot to tell you, I spoke to Doctor Wallace about when I'd be able to make love to my wife again"

"You did, did you?"

Scotty nodded "He said when I could run up 3 flights of stairs I'd be able to have sex again"

Comprehension dawned on Lilly's face and she turned to face him, sliding her arms around his neck "is that why you run up the stairs of central instead of taking the elevator?" Scotty nodded "and why you suddenly had to get home?" he nodded again "so I suppose you wanna go back to our bedroom now"

Scotty grinned "well we could make love in the hallway but the floor might be a little uncomfortable"

Lilly giggled, threading her fingers through his hair and pulling him down for a kiss.

Scotty let out an animalistic growl and lifted her up, carrying her down the hallway to their bedroom.

Lilly sighed contentedly, trailing her fingers over his chest. Scotty pressed a kiss to the top of her head "That was fantastic Lil"

"Yes it was" Lilly glanced up at the clock and groaned "I have to go pick up the kids from school in an hour"

"So we have an hour then?" Scotty asked suddenly rolling her over, hovering just above her.

Lilly chuckled, staring up at his chest at the zipper like scar that ran down the centre of his chest, slowly reaching up to run her finger along it.

"Do you hate it?" he asked "the scar I mean, do you think its ugly?"

Lilly looked up at him and shook her head "No baby, it's a reminder of how not to take anything for granted, not to take you for granted"

"So you don't think it's horrible?"

"I think scars are really sexy"

"Sexy huh?"

"Uh-huh" Lilly replied sitting up slightly to kiss him, her hand sliding between them to toy with him, feeling him harden once more.

Scotty lowered himself down on top of her his tongue finding hers as the couple fondled and caressed each other's bodies.

Amelia's cries punctuated the sexual tension and Scotty lifted his head up from her neck "she's got good timin'" Scotty commented and Lilly chuckled.

"I better go get her, need to get ready to get the kids anyway"

Scotty sighed and rolled off her "guess we'll have to pick this up later"

Lilly pressed a quick kiss to his lips and slid out of bed, pulling on her bathrobe "if you're a good boy" she added mischievously.

Scotty lay back against the pillows, thinking about the last nine months. His wife had gotten pregnant, he'd been shot, and Amelia had been born. So much had happened to them and they were still together, still in love and happy. Scotty wouldn't change anything in his life in that moment. He had it all, he and Lilly had been together 10 years and he was looking forward to many more with the love of his live. Looking forward to the rest of their lives together.
