Ch.18: Reason
Unconscious Jayla's POV(A/N: Time goes by fast while they're like this)
It's different not having the voices in my head from everyones thoughts for so long. Peaceful. I have a pretty good sense of time in the real world. About a month has gone by and we're at the point where we're beginning hide the best we can, which we both know ultimately failed. We're at the part where we're constantly hunted by vampires and 'full moon people', as I used to say, also we've probably seen more of the world than any living human, or any other creature for that matter, has in their life time. I flinched at everyone I accidently turned and left and almost had a full on breakdown as I saw Marisa scream in pure agony at her transformation I never saw before, into the werewolf. We stayed with her through that one out of pure curiousity and left when it was over, she thought we were dead I bet. I've never regretted anything more so, from that point on... I could have prevented it, if I just paid attention.
"It's ok, Jay." Leila says next to me as we fix the bleached out parts. "You can't prevent everything." and of coarse she's right.
"Lets keep going," I tell her and we go through the next point in time. The abandoned cabin we stayed in for some time. It was the last place we were before she got kidnapped. The part we have to fix, is exactly that moment.
"Emmie. Let's fight!" 5 year old Leila says to me. I agree after looking around for anything. We play our favorite game where one of us have to catch the other(Give me a break. I was 5 too ya know, even though I looked 12), and I was hiding she should have found me any minute. Then something wasn't right and Lei yelled my name. I looked and saw my sister struggling in the arms of a blonde vampire with red eyes.
"Leila!" I screamed and started towards them. I wasn't nearly as fast as I am now. About as fast as Renesmee or Nahuel back then. I couldn't catch them and the blonde girl(Jane I later found out), and Leila were gone. Next is the part we fix.
'HELP ME!' her thoughts screamed in my head. We decide to alternate between each of our points of views. I'll fix my side, then she'll fix hers. This is one of the reasons it's taking so long. We'll make it in a year. Time flies. Anyway:
'I'll find you Lei! I promise!' I hear her scream on the other end like she was in pain so I instinctively shield her through our linked minds. She immediately stops.
'I'll be waiting.' She says to me and I break the connection.
Then we go to Lei's POV at the same time I chase after her. She's screaming, crying and struggling in Jane's arms. She hears me yell her name, but Jane speaks at the same time.
"Shut up force." Jane growls at her. She's shocked more than afraid.
'How does she know what I am?' Lei thinks.
"Who are you?" She asks.
"I said shut up." I wanna kill Jane... wait, I already did.
"Answer the question." Jane looks at her like she's crazy.
"What part of shut up don't you understand?!"
"I'd like to know who you are before I listen to a thing you say, bloodsucker." Jane grunts in annoyance, trying to hide her own shock.
"You're a smart little girl. Aren't you?" Lei just waits. "I'm Jane. Have you heard of the Voltori?"
"Continue."
"Aro wants to see your power, force." a new fear erupts in my sister. She knows they're the ones who killed our mother.
"What's a force." I turn o my sister next to me.
"Were you always an amazing actress?" I ask the real Leila and she grins at me.
"Learned from the best." She turns back to the scene.
"Don't play dumb. You have powers. You know about us." Jane growls.
"I have no idea what you mean."
"I can make you talk."
"No you can't," Lei challanged and Jane uses her gift making Lei scream and then stop when I shield her. Jane looks at her confused.
"Your more powerful than I thought."
"Oh. That wasn't me. This is me." Leila smirks and makes Jane's gift hers and uses it on her. Jane stops dead in her tracks and screams loudly. Leila stops immediately, all the while having the conversation with me. Jane growls and in fast movements starts running again until they get to the clock tower. Thank goodness that's all that was messed up from here. We were like this for about at 5 months now and we're half way done, hopefully by my calculations, we can get this done in one month, instead of the seven I predicted before.
"Let's go to the next one." I say, and she freezes.
"Wait look." She says grabbing my arm. "I don't remember this...?" I look and see. It's Ethan, talking to Jane somewhere away from where Lei is.
"Where's the other one?!" He exclaims to her.
"Aro told me to look for human's who have special abilities, not for a stupid half-breed," Jane answers annoyed.
"You idiot! Are you forgetting they're my daughters?! I know what she's capable of." He pauses. "They'd be more effective to the guard together, and while they're apart, you can't get the human to do anything. The other protects her. The hybrid wasn't meant to be created, I'd kill her myself. The half-breed has a great hidden power, she doesn't even know about! If we leave her, she will come back for her sister, and she won't be alone. She'll kill us all!"
"Well you could have told me that before!"
"Well you could have told me they were alive! You were supposed to burn all three of them in that house. Then you go and seperate them!"
"Sorry! Next time you go... wait, what about the small one?"
"Her heart is softer than that of her sister, she won't hurt you, if you don't hurt her. And she'll take longer to be even as strong, as a normal hybrid, I'll give it 2 years at best, but the sister will be as strong, maybe stronger than any of us in that time as well. She's practically heartless, when it doesn't come to the human. No conscience."
"We'll find her, gosh!" Jane rolls her eyes. So they knew. They knew I'd become like this, all this time. And they were trying to get me too, and my dad wanted to kill me from the start. It's weird that I never ran into them, but into everything else. I killed most of the Voltori. He's almost right when he says I don't have a consience, almost. But I'm not heartless like he thinks, I don't kill for no reason, or kill humans. I have emotions.
"Don't try to Kill her, I need to do it. Only I can. I saw it," I stare wide eyed at that part, not able to give any other reaction. I understood now.
Katie's POV
"I'm not telling you where they are Shane!" I say to him walking away. He keeps trying to make us tell him where the twins are, for the past 4 months since they've been moved. Seth was just about ready to kill him too.
"Hey Emily, " I ask walking in to the kitchen. She's sitting at the table patting someone's back. Not really sure who it is at first but then I noticed how miserable he is. That's how I can tell. "They forced him to leave again?" Emily looks up and nods. I feel sorry for him. It's been 4 months since he even smiled and one more month until that new Voltori or whatever is coming. If he continues like this, he won't survive.
"He hasn't eaten or slept, and who knows where Embry went." she answers.
"They need to stop forcing them." I say a little angry.
"I know." She answers. I've gotten alot stronger and I could probably take Jacob.
"Seth? Are you alright?" He doesn't answer. I just shake my head and turn back to Emily.
"Is everything ok with you Em?"
"Yeah. Everything's almost perfect." At the word perfect Seth growls and goes up the steps. Probably to Jay's room. Seconds later I heard a radio turn on. Where don't they have a radio in this house? I think there's even one in the bathroom, I mean seriously "So is everyhing alright with you Katie?" She asks trying to ignore that. I think about it.
"Yes." I lie. Nobody would understand. Not Casey, My mom, or anyone. "Did they find Ethan?" I change the subject. Emily has this grim look on her face.
"No such luck. I still don't understand why she didn't just take him out." Wow, never knew her to be violent.
Unconscious Jayla's POV
I understand. I couldn't kill my father. The charm said because it wasn't his time. But was that true? No. Not the whole truth. It wasn't his time, but I didn't do it, because I wasn't meant to take him out... he was meant to kill me.
