The further she dived, the more terrified she became. Terra was still out of reach, and she didn't know if her glider could carry them both. But she couldn't let him fall into darkness.
Finally catching up to him, she seized his hand, hauling him up and turning the glider back the way she'd come. But it was moving too slow – she'd never get there in time. "It can't carry both of us," she muttered. Making a decision, she released the glider.
Her armor held Terra in a tight, protective embrace. Grasping his hand, Aqua wrapped his fingers around her keyblade. "I'm with you," she whispered, her heart aching. Then, with a blast of magic, she sent him back towards the Realm of Light. "Go!" And she began to fall.
I'm going to be swallowed by the darkness, she realized. But she didn't care. Terra was safe. The only regret she had was –
"I'm sorry, Ven. It looks like I won't be back as soon as I thought..."
With that last thought, Aqua closed her eyes and let the darkness swallow her.
