Thought
Joshua and Neku are the epitome of 'typical relationship'. One was overly romantic and the other was point blanc void of it. Thing was, every time a major event in their relationship came around Neku would always forget. Joshua would pout, brood and sulk, respectively. See? Typical relationship.
So having said that, when Joshua's birthday came around he wasn't expecting much. And he was right to do so because Neku has organised a get-together of sorts with the others. On his birthdayof all days. That wasn't what annoyed him the most though. Neku had organised the damn thing and he didn't even show up. So the rest of the day was spent watching Beat embarrass himself and trying to slip away from the group. Somehow, whenever he tried, Shiki would link elbows with him and suggest that they all move onto the next shop.
Another thin about Neku was that he made all the wrong choices in gift-choosing. On Valentines Day Neku had gotten him a box of overly sweet white chocolate when he knewhe had hinted that he preferred chocolate of the dark variety. Joshua had promptly shoved them back at Neku and walked off. It wasn't until St. White's day* that Joshua had completely forgiven him.
So having said all of the above, guess what a surprise it was when Joshua walked into WildKat after receiving a text message from Neku. It was completely dark save for one small lit candle sitting on top of a cream-covered birthday cake. Suddenly the lights turned on and Joshua could see that the whole café was filled with different coloured daisies. He was so amazed by the sight to notice that Neku had walked up behind him to wrap his arms around his slim waist. Turning around he brought his arms up to Neku's neck as the other touched his forehead to his.
"Happy Birthday, Joshua."
Neku's breath ghosted across Joshua's face before he closed to space between them and pressed his lips to Joshua's. In between chaste kisses and pulling the other closer, Joshua recalls saying that his favourite flower was the orchid but lets it go.
It's the thought that counts.

*St. White's Day: also known as White Valentines or White day. Traditionally Valentines Day (in Japanese culture) is a day where a girl expresses her feelings to the person she likes in the form of chocolate (either hand made or bought). On St. White's day the receiver of this chocolate buys the other a gift, usually worth more than the other's.
A/N:A drabble of sorts. I recently finished the game and thought that for once, Square kinda-sorta promoted an in-game relationship. Which is kinda rare. So I thought: what the heck, why not? This is actually my first successful (in terms of length) try at a drabble of sorts… -ish. All the other times I tried I ended up with something that was between a drabble and a one-shot. It was weird… So yea. Reviews are appreciated. I'd like to know how I went with a kinda-sorta-successful-ish (in my opinion) drabble.
