Classroom Mayhem

Chapter Three

This was it, the moment of truth. Remus Lupin and Lily Evans had concocted a plan that not even the illustrious Sirius Black could see through. The werewolf quickly finished his quiz thanks to his arduous study habits and waited with bated breath for his mates to finish.

One thing Remus knew for certain was that Sirius and James would be done very shortly. The duo always rushed through these quizes so as to obtain the limited Best Honeydukes Chocalate placed atop the assortment of snacks. And of course they had tucked away the jinxed books prior to the quiz starting intitiating the first step. Predictability would be their downfall.

As predicted the boys finished their quizes and flew to the table to claim the prized sweet. Remus and Lily exchanged smirks and sat back to enjoy the show.

As the two boys' hands touched the chocolate, streams of colored beams of light sprung out and enveloped their faces. They both fell to the floor and let out yelps of surprise and pawed at their shining faces. When the myriad of lights dissappeared they began to scramble to their feet and ended up face to face.

Both were staring at a familiar face. Black, greasy hair that hung like curtains on their heads and large, hooked noses that were normally the property of one Severus Snape. They froze for a moment before unleashing frightened shouts that quickly turned to curses.

The classroom was in an uproar. Even little Professor Flitwick was chuckling at the events unfolding at the snack table. Remus and Lily exchanged smiles and dramatic bows celebrating the successful execution of their master plan. Moony had bested his fellow Marauders for the first time ever. He couldn't have done it without Lily and he was very happy she had volunteered her help. Otherwise his vendetta may have never seen its resolution.

The duos celebration hadn't gone unnoticed by the Snape dopplegangers who immediately stormed over to their so called friends. "Moony! Evans! What have you done?" Sirius seemed to have lost his anger and was instead acting like a girl who'd been rejected by her crush. He sniffled and asked,"How could you do this to the epitome of male beauty?"

Lily's eyes narrowed as she turned to look at Sirius. "Seriously, Black?"

"No my name is Sirius Black thank you very much. Now answer my question. How could you besmirch the face of Adonis in such a way?"

"I'm curious as well," James stated in an exasperated tone. "About why you did this not whatever this prat is going on about." James shot Sirius a glare which caused him to let out a fake whimper.

Remus cracked a grin at the two before saying,"Well lads, it was simply for revenge. After my last two attempts ended catastrophically I was admittedly very close to calling it quits. That is until the wonderful Lily Evans offered her services!" Lily gave a mock curtsie to the two Snapes who gave the redhead wide-eyed looks.

"Evans? Are you serious?" Sirius was in shock that the Head Girl had this sort of trickery in her. He exchanged shocked glances with James who was equally surprised at his girlfriends actions. The boys then turned their eyes back to the girl who was wearing a triumphant smirk.

"No, Black, as you previously stated you are in fact Sirius. But yes I helped Remus with this prank. Why? Because I needed my boyfriend to know that the last thing I am is boring." She shot James a glance that was sweet on the surface but contained an obvious warning.

"Wow mate she's scary." Sirius whispered to his best mate. "Maybe don't call her boring anymore? She's more dangerous than a dragon with a blast-ended skrewt up it's arse." James sighed at the horrible analogy and socked Sirius in the arm. "Ouch! I was just being honest!"

"Well your honesty makes things worse you git." James looked to Lily with a chastised expression, his face returning to its normal appearance. "I'm sorry Lily. I need to stop teasing you so much, because you're obviously far from boring. Lets say I treat you to some Honeydukes next time we're in Hogsmeade? I'll get you anything you want."

Lily pretended to ponder the offer. "Hmmm, well it's a good start, Potter, but you aren't getting off that easy. You'll have to work for it Lover-Boy." She gave him her sweetest smile and leaned up to give him a quick peck on the cheek. The classroom gave a collective 'oooooh' at the display of affection.

James' face flushed red in reaction to his classmates teasing and partially because she had called him Lover-Boy in front of Merlin and everybody. Remus could tell his friend was cursing Sirius' affinity for nicknames right about now. " Well, Prongs. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you!" The werewolf let out a hearty laugh at James' expense.

"Gee thanks, Moony," He muttered darkly.

"Well, Prongsie, I am personally offended that your domestic issues have caused me such strife," exclaimed Sirius dramtically. "I shouldn't suffer for your misdeeds." He folded his arms and pointed his nose to the ceiling while giving a long, dramatic sigh.

The other three shook their heads at the boy and Remus socked him on the arm just as James had. "Actually, Padfoot, you were my primary target. Or do you not remember the detentions I got from McGonnagall because you reversed the pranks i set for you."

Sirius scratched the side of his face and appeared to be deep in thought. "Uh, Nope. Not ringing any bells."

His response received a round of sighs from his friends who were begining to wonder how he got such high marks when he had a head full of air. The meeting was finally interupted by the diminutive Charms teacher. "As exciting as this has all been, I think it's time you four returned to your seats. Most of the students have yet to finish after all."

With a nod the four of them returned to their seats and waited for the others to finish. After the quiz Flitwick gave a brief lecture on protective charms before releasing the class for the day. As everyone made their way out the door the quartet reconverged to continue their discussion.

"Well, Prongs, maybe we should crown Moony and Evans the new kings of the prank. They really got us. I mean we looked like Snivelly!" Sirius shuddered at the memory.

"Right you are my dear ,Padfoot! Looks like I've got quite the handful for a girlfriend!" James put his arm around Lily and pulled her to his side.

She gave him a wry smile and said,"You got over it pretty quickly. Maybe we weren't hard enough on you."

"No, we just appreciate a good joke. Although we are used to being on the other side." The raven-haired boy let out a laugh that made Lily smile.

Everything had turned out wonderfully. No detentions were handed out and both Lily and Remus had achieved what they set out to do. Remus looked around at his friends and smiled to himself. He was so lucky to be a part of such a special group of people. Sirius may be a bit of a prat but he is fiercely loyal and would do anything for his friends. Lily was a new but welcome addition to the Marauder family and he was proud to call her friend. Of course there was James Potter as well. The boy had matured into a true leader and had finally captured the heart of the woman he loved.

These moments are what kept Remus sane. Moments of joy with loved ones are becoming more important everyday now that the world is the way it is. A world terrorized by the most powerful dark wizard ever seen. Lord Voldemort would be the undoing of these moments if he had his way and Remus simply couldn't allow that.

Laughter from his friends shook the werewolf out of his reverie and a smile spread across his face. These bonds are what would save the world. He believed from the bottom of his heart that love would be the deciding factor in this war. After all, if the love of friends can save a cursed creature such as him from despair, it can do anything.
