Sorry it's late again. I've been sick.
PoV Clary
When we got back to the school, Magnus went to his room and stayed there for the next few hours. Alec was with him most of that time, until Magnus fell asleep. Alec then joined us in the common room. School wasn't starting for another few days, so we had some time to just chill.
Jace had his arm around me and we were watching TV when Simon came in.
"How was your holiday?" I asked, as he sat next to me.
"It was fine," he said, relaxing into the chair. "We didn't do much. Got Chinese food Christmas night. Other than that, not really interesting."
"Why Chinese?" Jace asked.
"It's a tradition," Simon said. "We've gone every year, except the year my dad died."
"You're dad died?" I asked.
"Yeah. It was after we moved."
"Oh. I'm sorry."
Alec walked into the common room, clearly exhausted, but wanted to mingle nonetheless. He sat in the chair next to Jace, pulling his long legs onto the seat. He rested his head on his palm, and turned to face us. "What's new?"
"Nothing much," I said.
"Simon's dad is dead," Jace said, not moving his eyes from the screen.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Alec said through a yawn.
"It happened years ago," Simon said. "Can we please drop the subject?"
Alec nodded sleepily, and turned to face the TV. "Have you guys read The Fault in Our Stars?"
"I have," I said.
"Is it any good?"
"Yeah, it's really good. It's really funny, but it's a massive tear jerker."
"Oh."
"Why?"
"Magnus wants me to read it," Alec said, rubbing his eyes. "He said I'd like it."
"I think you'd like it, too."
He nodded, looking at the show again. "What are you watching?"
"Ancient Aliens," Jace said. "They look through history and try to explain everything with aliens. The pyramids, the death of Christ, the birth of Christ."
"Sounds… interesting," Alec said, running a hand through his hair."
"It's really not," I said. "We turned on the TV and then lost the remote control. We can't change the channel."
Alec laughed, and yawned again.
"Why don't you go to sleep?" Jace asked, looking at his brother. "You seem very tired."
"I wanna wait for Magnus to wake up," he said. "He's sick, so he should have someone look after him."
"It's nice, and all, that you're doing that for him, "Simon said. "But if you get sick because you haven't been sleeping, then he's not going to be that happy."
Alec looked shocked. "I hadn't thought of that."
"Go to bed, Alec," I said kindly. "We'll come get you if Magnus wakes up."
He nodded, and stood. Walking out of the room, he bumped lightly into the wall. He laughed, the first real laugh I'd heard from him. It had been surprised out of him.
"I would do the same thing for you," Jace said, looking at me.
"No, you wouldn't," I said jokingly. "You'd never give up your beauty sleep."
Sorry it's short; I'm running out of ideas again. PM me if you have any!
