~I only own my Ocs and the chaos they might end up causing Please Review or tell Pm me with ideas. This story is long overdue for a fixer upper. I am still looking for a beta. If anyone would want to volunteer that would be great! Just leave me a comment or PM me saying so. For any and all mistakes I take full credit. I am currently going back through my fic and fixing some mistakes and maybe adding or cutting some things out. Thank you to my reviewers, and the people who followed and or favorited my story. This chapter will follow only bits of the movie, I have to change it to fit the OCs. OCs in this story are based off of people in real life that I see almost every day, and yes they really do have these personalities. No flames, the dragon fire later in this fanfic will be hot enough for me thank you. Now on with the story!~
P.S. This is now officially an AU

(Thorin's Pov)
I can hear Dwalin asking where the meat is and Ori's refusal to eat the green leaf that his oldest brother holds out for him to try. I wonder where those girls and the tall boy is. Well by Durin's beard ask and they shall appear. The two that had we had met here in Rivendell where in their same clothes from earlier. Samantha was in a long backed, short front vest with sleeves that had a silver design at the edge of the sleeves. The pants were a blend of dark and lighter silver that were held by a black belt secured by a silver buckle in the shape of a raven atop a wolf. She didn't seem the type to ever wear a dress.
The other three girls that were already part of the company were in dresses. The crazy one was in a dark pink and purple dress that seemed suited to her purple tipped hair. Ashley was in a dark purple dress that had silver sleeves. Those dresses seemed to suit the girls wearing them and matched fairly well. But none of them caught my attention that was captured by Rose and Rose alone.
She was stunning to me in her normal traveling clothes but now she took my breath away. The gold sleeved green dress brought out the red highlights in her caramel hair and complemented her eyes. Upon her brow glittered a delicate circlet with six stones in its point. She looked like one of the valar come to enlighten us unworthy mortals. Just then the sun shifted to cover her in its golden light. While I was taking in the sight of the wondrous being in front of me I missed Bofur climbing on the table and singing a bar song about the man in the moon. It wasn't until the rest of the males in my company began to sing with Bofur and my gaze was drawn from her.
Bofur stopped after the first verse when he finally noticed the six people who were from the other world. Everyone followed his gaze to look at girls and Charles I think his name is. I watched Rose. Her face gave nothing away but her eyes reminded me of Fili and Kili's younger days. There was trouble stirring behind now golden eyes that once looked like blue tinted silver.
"Well don't stop singing on our account Bofur. Here allow me to finish the song. Come on now lads where is that beat you had going." Rose said striding towards the table "Gloin could you help me up? This damned dress gets in the way." She said once she reached the table. Gloin just nodded dumbstruck. Now on the table Rose turned to Bofur "You didn't expect me to do that now did you." She stated her eyes still twinkling. And she began the song where the dwarves left off, ignoring the stern looks that the elf lord beside me sent her way.
Oooooooh The ostler has a tipsy cat that plays a five-stringed fiddle; And up and down he saws his bow Now squeaking High, now purring low
The shock that had filled everyone in the room was still in place on all but the dwarves who had sung and pounded away earlier. They sung with Rose. Her voice still slightly louder than all rest. She was helped off the table and started to swirl around in a dance with those who knew the steps.
Now sawing in the middle, so the cat on the fiddle played Hey-diddle-diddle, a jig that'll wake the dead: He squeaked and sawed and quickened the tune, while the land lord shook the man in the moon:' It's after three!' he said.
While singing and dancing she had a smile plastered on her face. She has a beautiful smile I had believed that she didn't have a smile, that she only knew how to smirk and use half smiles. I glad that I was wrong and I felt somewhat jealous that I had not caused that wide, beautiful smile. When she finished dancing and started speaking I didn't hear anything she said until she began to speak the tree shagger next to me.
"My apologies for our tardiness to supper and for dancing and singing on your tables. I forgot my manners in favor of actually enjoying a dance and good fun for the first time in many years. I am sure that you can understand that as both a father and someone who lost their beloved."
She wasn't late. Why would she think that? That's when her last two sentences sunk in. When was the last time she had that kinda fun? Who had she lost other than the punk cousin of her's? Why the hell was she appealing to Elrond's fatherly side? There were so many questions to ask her. And damn it! When in Durin's name did I start caring about some female? No, not just some female. Rose...When did I start to care about Rose?
(No one's Pov)
After every one had been seated dinner went smoother. Rose managed to sweet talk Elrond into giving his guests meat which improved the dwarves' moods a great deal. All through dinner Rose and Elrond talked of ages past in middle earth. Rose explained to the elf what she had already explained to the dwarves, she and her friends came from a world other than Middle Earth where Arda and everyone in it was pure fiction. By the end of dinner the two had reached the topic of those who they had lost.
"I don't know much about Celebrian other than the fact the she was your wife and the loving mother of your three children. I know also that she left for the undying lands but I have always wondered why. She never struck me as the type to leave everyone and thing she loved without a reason whenever I would read about her."
"Well then you are very perceptive in your reading. You are right she was a loving wife and mother and she was never one to leave us without reason. However that reason is one that still pains me too much to speak of. Just as your losses are too painful to speak about for you, Merilwen."
All throughout their conversation Thorin sat in silence listening, learning and thinking. The wizard too sat in silence though his lack of sound was not due to the conversation of those near him. Soon silence held all four of them in an uncomfortable silence none knew how to break. Thankfully this was done for them by a young elfling who had heard Rose singing the bar song earlier.
"Excuse me my lady. I heard your lovely voice when you were singing that amusing tune when the presence of you and your friends graced this humble room. I overheard you speaking with my lord Elrond and was wondering if you would sing us a song from your world." He said speaking loudly so as to catch the attention of all in the room
"What is you name elfling?" Rose inquired softly
"Istuion. My lady." He replied proudly
"Please call me Merilwen." Rose said simply giving him the elvish version of her name.
"Rose? It is a fitting name for one as beautiful as yourself."
"Ah but the thing you must remember about a rose is that each one has its thorns. And to answer your question yes I will sing."
At that the dwarves cheered while they did not like their tree hugging hosts, none of them had wanted to be the one to ask the one Fili and Kili had nicked named the Dragon Lady to sing a song from her world. Looking to her friends from her world for suggestions and or requests for songs, they gave her four suggestions. Ashley suggested 'Little Things' by One Direction, Macy a new song from Justin Bieber which was an automatic no. Alex suggested 'At the Celli' by Celtic Women, Sami 'May it be' by Enya. Rose chose to sing 'May It Be' since it was a song that was part of the Lord of the Rings sound track and had a little bit of elvish in it already.
She went to stand over where the elves who were playing instruments had left the tools they used to create their music. She took a deep breath and slowly began to sing.
May it be an evening star
Shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls
Your heart will be true
You walk a lonely road
Oh! How far you are from home
Mornie utúlie (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now
May it be the shadows call
Will fly away
May it be your journey on
To light the day
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun
Mornie utúlie (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now
A promise lives within you now
Rose allowed the last note to linger a little longer than its fellows before letting it fade into silence and closing her eyes. The song had often given her hope when she was younger.
(Thorin's Pov)
I listen to her sing and can't help but think, "Her voice is as beautiful as it was in the hobbit's home when she sang with us." When she finished I watched a single shining tear roll down her cheek. It is a beautiful song even if it does have elvish in it and I can tell that it holds a lot of meaning to her. She lets out a shaky breath and speaks, "I have another song to sing." And starts on the new song.
Home is behind
The world ahead
and there are many paths to tread
through shadow to the edge of night
until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow
cloud and shade
all shall fade
all shall...fade
It was a short song but clearly held as much importance to her as the first. When she finished her song, she excused herself to go change for more training. I followed her example but headed to the training field to wait.
