When Rheynia stepped foot on the fiery ground of Mars she shivered. This wasn't modern day Mars. The reddish landscape was dull and the people and creatures were sluggish, the classic signs it was time for a new Queen to rule... It was looked exactly like when her mother was alive.

"Ryenia! How many times must I tell you, you may not go outside these palace wall!" A woman in her mid-thirties walked in front of Rei. She was the spitting image of Rei, but with more stress lines and a few gray hairs. "Ryenia I need you to grow up. Queen Serenity has been asking for my assistance more than usual lately. Queen Beryl… she's getting stronger. I need to know you can protect the moon and our princess. You need to mature. Grow to earn respect."

Ryenia realized it then. This wasn't Mars. This was the inside of the Sacred Fire. Ryenia's lifc e was playing before her. This was the moment she chose to be an adult, to be the reliable, perfect woman her mother wanted her to be. But, she misunderstood. Everything her mother wanted her to be and do was for Princess Serenity. She wanted Rei to be mature and respected so her rule on Mars was as peaceful as possible and so she could focus on helping Serenity. She could never be Serenity and she should not want to be her. She was princess in her own right. Ryenia wasn't here to just reinstate her oath to the Moon. No, she was here to make an oath to herself and to Mars.

Suddenly, she was dragged to another memory. Her mother sat in front of the Great Flame in her priestess garbs. She had but a few more minutes before she went to the moon to fight Queen Beryl, before she died.

Gracefully, Ryenia's mother rose. And silently she henshined. A red aura hugged her sides; her raven hair revealed red streaks and flushed skin. It was the transformation of allotted with the Solar System was united. Walking over, the Queen placed a warm hand to Ryenia's cheek. "I believed you could do it. I truly did. You have disappointed me."

"Mother why?"

The Queen simply shook her head.

"What have I done wr-"

"You have forgotten about me, about Mars, and about yourself!"

"I have not!"

"Then prove it to me! Prove it to the Great Flame! Prove you are worthy to rule this kingdom and protect the moon!" The Queen stepped aside her hands pointing to the Fire.

"I can't"

"You will."

Ryenia looked away from the memory. She remembered what happened and winced. To be rejected by the flames for impurity of the heart was painful. The pain was only skin deep but it felt as if it ran through one's soul.

"Ryenia prove yourself once more." A shadowy image of Ryenia's mother appeared before her.

"I was rejected last time."

"You can do it."

"I-"

"You will do it."

"I can't"

"Ryenia! Where has your determination gone? You believed you once and you let me down. Do not repeat that mistake again. I believe in you. Prove me wrong like you have done all those times as a child. I know you can. You will." With that the Queen faded. Faded not disappear. She was watching Rei. She didn't leave Rei to cry through the burns of the Great Flame like last time. She watched intently with loving eyes. Her last words still wrung in the air. They were the last words Rheynia heard before the Queen's death and it was her dying wish.

Ryenia could do this. She will accept her fate and face her trial

Ryenia took a step into the flame to Mars, to encounter what Serena had in store for her.
