Jace POV
Jace got to his feet in the blink of an eye. He didn't know why Valentine was there after his daughter was taken by those two bumbling idiot.
Unless…they kidnapped her under the disguise of her father needing her…
Before Jace could ask why Valentine was there, a fist punched him in his left cheek, knocking him backwards.
Quickly recovering, Jace got to his feet once more and tackled Valentine, sending him down the steps from the institute and onto the street with mundies. Jace didn't care.
He was on top of Valentine now who was gasping from air. Jace raised his left hand and it connected with Valentines nose, making a satisfying crack.
Jace stopped himself from punching him again when the liquid flowed from Valentines nose.
It wasn't crimson liquid that would signify a mundie's or shadowhunter blood. It was black liquid.
Which meant only one thing.
He was a demon.
But how could he have runes? Even if he was a shapeshifter, he couldn't bare the marks of the angel.
The demon growled and with incredible strength, pushed Jace off him and into the air, sending him backwards till he was lying on the steps of the institute.
Before he could recover and fight again, the demon stood over him, wielding a seraph blade.
Demons couldn't wield seraph blade! What the hell was he?!
"What are you?" Jace snarled, not happy with being beaten.
The demon smiled, his teeth revealed and were covered in the liquid flowing from his nose.
"I'm Jonathan Morgenstern. I came here for my sister, but because of your stupidity, she let herself be taken trying to save your pathetic life!"
Jace glared at him. But the name rang a bell. The book of shadowhunters!
Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern. So that meant that he was Valentines son, not Valentine himself. That would explain the resemblance from the picture he saw. But that didn't explain the black blood…He's parents were in the book of shadowhunters, so where did the blood come from?
"First of all, I didn't let her get taken. I didn't tell her to stand in front of me to get stabbed!" Jace winced at the statement. It was true, but it hurt to think about. "Second of all, I spend my life being good-looking and killing demons. How is that pathetic?" Jace noticed his own voice sounded flat. His heart wasn't in the self compliment. "And lastly, why is your blood black?"
"You might not have made her get stabbed, but you did stand idly by while they took her away!" Jace winced. It was true… "And about my blood? It's none of your business."
Jonathan went to walk past Jace, towards the institute. "Where are you going?" Jace growled, not happy about Jonathan refusing to answer a simple question.
"I need to speak with Maryse and Robert Lightwood." Jonathan snarled.
Only when he attempted to open the door, it didn't budge. "Problem?" Jace asked, his voice sounded like acid.
"Open you stupid door!" Jonathan growled as he pounded on the large wooden door. Jace actually jumped from the sound.
"I'll get them if you stay out here." Jace said annoyed. He would rather have the company of the other sibling.
Jonathan gave an irritated growl before muttering a low "Fine."
Jace then quickly walked to the door and opened it, only to be pushed aside as Jonathan staulked inside.
Jace glared and tackled the boy.
They fell to the ground again, throwing punches at the other. Jace avoided some, but was surprised at the skill Jonathan had in avoiding and attacking.
More black blood spewed from him, along with Jace's crimson blood.
Jace had received many hits to the face, chest and stomach. Jonathan had hits more so to the face and neck.
Jace was trying to knock him out and was failing.
What stopped the fight was people shouting and trying to pry them apart. Jace was wary of Jonathan as he stopped trying to punch Jace and was trying to push away.
"We're wasting time!" Jonathan growled. He turned to face the people who were behind Jace as they tried to pry Jace away. "Maryse, remember me?" Jace snorted.
Even if Maryse knew him, there was black and crimson blood sticking to Jonathans hair and face making him look like the cover of a cheap horror movie that would be stuck outside of a movie theater.
Jace stopped struggling with whoever was pulling him away. He saw it was his parabatai.
Jace then looked over at Maryse who had a confused expression on her face. She looked like she was in deep concentration.
Alec gasped and Jace felt him slightly tremble.
"It can't be…YOU'RE DEAD!" Alec said, raising his voice.
Alec rarely raised his voice.
"Who is it?" Isabelle said. Jace didn't realize she was there.
Maryse paled as she too must have recognized him. "Jonathan Morgenstern?"

Clary POV (2 years later)
Clary laughed as she knocked the sword from Jace's hand and knocked him on his back. She leaned over him to taunt him when he swept her feet from under her and she collided on him.
"Hey!" She protested and before she could scold him, he crushed his lips to hers.
Any argument Clary had, was gone as she relished in the electric spark coursing through her body from the feel of his lips.
His hands were on her waist, sliding to the small of her back and resting there. Clary's hands were playing in his golden curls.
His hair curled around her fingers. It was so soft. She playfully tugged on it and she felt him tighten his hold on her.
He rolled them over till he was on top He moved his hands till they trapped her face between them. Jace broke away from the kiss, panting heavily. Clary was surprised that her breathing was normal.
Jace smirked at her, his golden eyes looking at her with so much love and affection.
Clary knew she was forgetting something, but Jace's presence made her mind a little fuzzy.
Jace leaned towards her, till his lips were next to her ear. Clary thought he was going to say some innuendo or make a sarcastic comment.
She was shocked at his words.
"We could have had this if you didn't keep turning me down." Clary gasped.
She remembered.
She wasn't with Jace.
She wasn't in the training room with Jace at the institute.
He wasn't looking at her with love and affection.
She was dreaming.
Clary woke with a start, Jace's cruel eyes the last thing she saw before entering reality.
She wasn't in her room. She was lying on the cold stone floor in the basement of the deminsional apartment her father trapped her in two years ago. Clary felt tears well in her eyes.
After she woke up from being stabbed by panghorn, her father had been…different.
He refused to tell her why they couldn't go home, why Clary couldn't leave or why she was taken away from New York.
Not only did he keep more secrets from her, his feelings towards her changed.
Before New York, he had cared deeply for her safety. Now if she didn't train right, answered a question wrong or disobeyed in the slightest, she was harshly disciplined.
He whipped her, Made her drink a horrible liquid that gave her nightmares or made her train till she fell unconscious.
The night before, she had been whipped because she had collapsed from training, but was still conscious.
Clary gently touched a part of her back and howled out in pain. She had received ten lashings. After inspecting her back, she noticed blood was on it.
Refusing to let a tear spill, Clary began to crawl towards the stairs leading out of the basement. She then grabbed a railing to support her as she stood up.
Her back screamed at her in protest. Her mind telling her to go into the kitchen and grab something sharp and end the pain…permanently.
Shaking that thought from her head, she began to ascend the stairs. She didn't know what time it was, only that her father was going to make her train and if she was late, she would be training longer.
She slowly and carefully made it up the stairs, relief washing through her. she was worried that she would lose her balance and fall on her back.
It happened once and she was determined not to let it ever happen again.
She opened the door and saw her father sitting at the table in the kitchen. He didn't even glance up at her or ask if she was okay.
"Be in the training room in twenty minutes. We're practicing with the golok." Was all he said.
Clary internally groaned. She hated that weapon! It was like a machete.
Clary missed her katana.
She missed Isabelle and the Lightwoods.
She missed her freedom.
She missed her brother.
She missed…Jace.
Clary left the kitchen, walking as quick as she could and wincing in pain as she focused on walking up the glass stairs.
Oh how much she missed her stele.

Jonathan POV (2 years later)
Jonathan had been staying in the New York institute with the Lightwoods for the last two years. He found it strange living with people that weren't set on training him by beating him up.
He had come clean about his father. He told them everything about his demon blood, Clarissa's angel blood, Lilith and basically everything Valentine did that he know of.
Maryse and Robert were livid about it all, as expected. Especially since Clarissa was like a second daughter to them and their biological daughter, Isabelle had been staying under the same roof as a man who experimented on his own children.
Isabelle, Alec and Max were more welcoming to him. Jace on the other hand didn't trust him in the least. The feeling was mutual.
They only worked together when they interrogated downworlders about Valentines whereabouts.
But they had no luck.
No tracking rune or warlock could locate her. It was like she had dropped off the face of the earth!
Isabelle and Alec had decided to help also but all that happened from that was turning a mundane into a bloodsucker.
There was word of a vampire clan being in cahoots with Valentine. The stupid girl, Isabelle brought the mundane to the hotel the vampires were using as a hideout where he was attacked and killed..only to be remade.
For some reason, Isabelle kept in touch with the bloodsucker and was now in an on/off relationship. It differed a lot.
Alec was obviously seeing someone, but would admit it to no one. Isabelle seemed to know be in the know, but kept it to herself. It was obvious he was seeing someone as he received many text messages and when he went out by himself at night, he wouldn't arrive back at the institute till the following morning or afternoon, in the same clothes as the night before.
Jace on the other hand had only left the institute to go demon hunting and to eat if Maryse was gone. He attempted to help Jonathan research for the whereabouts of Clarissa which often led to them arguing and getting no work done.
Jonathan shook his head at the affection Jace showed towards his sister. It was like he expected that when she was found, he would be reunited with a long lost love.
Jonathan was determined to find Clarissa and when he did, he was bringing her away from people connected with the clave.
He was under scrutiny as it was because he came clear about his demon nature. He was sure that if he wasn't looking for his sister, he would be in a cell, being interrogated about Valentine.
As soon as he found Clarissa, they were leaving the Lightwoods and the clave. All he had to do was outsmart of father…
I'm sorry for the last POV! Jonathan sounds like a bit of a b***h, even to me!
