Next note, when searching through , I never realised that my story is one of only a few OC/Garrett pairings, so this made me even more determined to put all my effort into it when writing - to try and make it one of the best out there so far...I have big ambitions, sorry. But, yeah it felt good to be able to take this story anywhere I want without making the pairing sound too similar to another, which I like.
Please could you spare a few seconds to drop me a review or PM just to give me some feedback on this story so far please, thank you!
Now that's all out of the way, once again, thank you all million for all your support through follows/favourites/reviews -and many, many views. Please, please, please keep them coming, they mean loads and give me inspiration; here's Chapter Twenty-Five.

CHAPTER 25 - Blood is Thicker Than Water
•~Annabelle Cullen~•
"Well," Daddy began. "Only four of us are," he revealed to Aro.
Did he just say...? "Four?" I questioned, eyebrows furrowed, confused.
He turned to face me, and smiled lovingly. "Yes, my child. You are also my family, always have been,"
I gasped with surprise, but I'm unsure why. He was my Daddy after all, I should have expected that, but it still came as a shock to me, but warmed up my frozen heart. "Thanks, Daddy," I told him sincerely, grinning widely back at him, my eyes glazed over.
"So, Annie is one of the four. Who are the other three?" Aro asked Daddy, pushing on with the discussion on hand. He seemed a little...urgent. We're in no rush, so why is he rushing him? School for half of us doesn't start until eight o'clock tomorrow morning, so we have the rest of the night to talk.
"Edward, Alice, and Jasper," Daddy stated, more relaxed than before. His response broke me from my thoughts.
Everyone visiting from Italy peered around at all three of them, probably trying to guess what each can possibly do. Demetri, I noticed, paused over Jasper just that little longer than everyone else did. His eyes narrowed, and Jasper turned his head sensing someone staring at him, probably alerted from the rise in curiosity. Of course, Demetri remembers Jasper, he was the one to report to us that we should let him, Peter and Charlotte run free. Other than him, and obviously me, no one else really knows what he looks like as they only saw the trio from behind.
Aro doesn't know either, even with his gift. When I first joined the Volturi, I might have made it a rule that none of us would our gifts on each other if it stripped us of our privacy. In turn, I wouldn't use a certain portion of mine to see everyone's thoughts when I saw fit. Likewise, to ensure Aro would keep his side of the bargain, I offered to shield everyone's minds, also giving them protection from any stray mental attacks, like if Jane got pissed with Felix, for example - that was a regular occurrence. When I wasn't around however...let's just say I made sure that they kept their word.
"Well I never..." Demetri said suddenly. "Didn't think I would be seeing you around any time soon," he laughed. "Jasper Whitlock in the flesh," he announced to his family.
"See, we all know about you and your friends, Jasper," I smiled slyly, teasing him slightly.
"And you are one of the gifted in your family," Aro asked, his attention now on Jasper.
He paused before answering. "Yes, sir,"
"Enough with the formalities, it makes me feel old," he chuckled. "Call me Aro, all of you," he directed that at Daddy's family, my new extended family.
"You make three thousand years sound like the new '30'," I stated, rolling my eyes briefly.
"So what is it you can do?" Aro continued to engage conversation with Jasper, ignoring my comment completely. Probably for the best though, I'm still in the foulest of moods from earlier on that he was responsible for putting me in. He's got so much making up to do to put things right again between us.
"I'm an empath," he revealed reluctantly to my 'father'...No, he doesn't deserve that title from me. For now, he's just Aro to me.
His eyes lit up at his response. "Really? Just like our Javonn then," he said, connecting their similar gifts. "How do the differentiate, do you know?" he asked, turning his head to look between Jasper and I.
"I'm not sure...what else can you do with your empathy Jasper?" I enquired, curiosity peaking now.
He shifted slightly, glancing at Alice by his side, where she was smiling excitedly and nodded to him. I assumed she was silently telling him to answer. "I can project emotions to anyone and everyone within my radius," he explained, peering between Aro and I, where we are both nodding our heads slowly, acknowledging his answer. 'Empathic Projection' I thought to myself.
"And Javonn can...?" Aro began but trailed off, tilting his head towards at me to provide an answer.
"He can somewhat heal emotional wounds, alongside detecting and manipulating these said emotions," I explained to the best of my ability.
"Like he did a little while ago, Annie?" Daddy asked, speaking up again from next to Esmé, inputting back into the discussion at hand.
"Yes, just like that," I confirmed. My mind falling back to what happened when I found what Aro had kept hidden from me.
"Edward?" Aro called, causing Edward's head to snap in our direction.
"I read minds," He informed Aro. "Every passing thought in one's mind," Edward explained further, probably hearing what he was thinking...oh yeah, did I mention that he's not under the protection of my mental shield. Aro lifted his eyebrows with small surprise, but Edward narrowed his eyes slightly with concentration, it was subtle but I still noticed the movement...what is going through Aro's head right now?
His reaction was a funny one - he cracked up, flicking a hand between Edward and me. "You must have been really frustrated meeting all of Annie's family then, including us," he eventually said after he'd finished laughing. 'Strange vampire,' I thought while making a point of staring at the ceiling.
"Aro," I called, still looking up. He turned his head around to look at me, as did everyone else in the room. "I'm not using my gift on you," I said innocently.
The room went dead silent, a triumph smile on my lips. Aro's face twisted strangely as every vampire, save us two, laughed uncontrollably. Emmett and Felix let their voices boom out, while Jane, Esmé, Alice and Rosalie, all hid behind their hands, shoulders shaking as they tried to conceal their amusement. Jasper seemed to physically relax as the atmosphere surrounding us lightened up - that's what being an empath was like, I guess. Caius appeared to grin evilly at me, he loves it when I stirred up trouble with anyone, and that's the only reason I never do it to him - he approved of me ruffling peoples' feathers so-to-speak. Daddy and Marcus were just sitting, smiling while shaking their heads slowly. Alec and Demetri just done what they always do - cheered for me!
"And I can see the future," Alice all of a sudden bursts out, still smiling like there's no tomorrow and bouncing on the edge of her seat, as if she couldn't contain it any longer. I averted my gaze to stare at her, 'Subtle much?' I thought amused, eyes widened slightly. Slipping my eyes over towards Daddy, I caught him wearing the same expression as me, knowing we thought along the same lines. Turning to watch Aro's reaction, he appeared as if Christmas had come early for him.
'Oh no...What's he thinking?' Are my immediate thoughts, dread filling me. I've seen that look many times before - the look of greed and determination. Knowing that I promised I would never use my mental shield without anyone's express permission, I also promised that if anyone I loved were threatened in any way, I would use it then. Releasing my shield, I pushed it into his head, gaining access into his mind while going undetected. What I was searching for could be seen immediately, and what I saw disgusted me, making me hate him even more.
I heard Alice gasp grabbing hold of Jasper's arm in a tight grip. "Alice! What is it? What do you see?" he asked panic coating in his tone. Without thinking, I pulled out of Aro's mind and dived straight into Alice's mind, making sure she doesn't sense my presence. From what I could immediately see, was very similar to what Aro had in mind.
He had managed to conjure sudden plans based on old desires in a matter of minutes. He has always wanted to have a seer among his ranks, apparently. Some of the plans involved taking Alice by force back to Italy, leaving the rest of the family alive but contained until she was away. Others were of killing her mate, Jasper, severing the connection between them and Aro then taking her away. Then there was one that pissed me off royally...kill everyone, only sparing Edward, Jasper, and Alice's lives. All his plans involved Alice...he's obsessed with the power she has. Why hadn't Edward reacted to this already? 'Aro must be keeping his thoughts on the surface hidden,' I concluded.
"No, Aro," I ordered, a growl rumbling in my chest, as he was about to ask something else. I was out of my seat, taking a defensive stance, showing that I'm willing and ready to fight if needs be. The Cullen's jumped slightly at the sound, their eyes focused on me, having never heard me showing my authority before.
He started slightly but composed himself, shifting his position for the chair to standing upright, addressing me. "And what exactly are you saying 'no' to, my dear?" He asked, feigning innocence.
"You know bloody well what. They are not you little pawns to play with, they are my family and you'll have to go through me to get them," I warned, my anger bubbling, now leaning into a crouching position, ready to attack if needs be. "You know you will lose, Aro. You've already pissed me off once today, don't try me again, change your decision, and never allow it to passing your mind again,"
A hint of fear entered his eyes but quickly vanished. He looked like he was about to protest my words of warning, until his brother placed his hand upon his shoulder. "Don't push her brother. We all know you do not wish for Annie to have any more reason to decide not to forgive you today, do you?" Marcus said to him, sending an apologetic smile over his shoulder.
"I can safely say that I'm way passed forgiving today, Marcus," I resorted, failing to keep my cool. "Tell me..." I continued, meeting everyone else in the Volturi in the eyes. "How would you all feel if I told you that Aro here is planning to have most of my family behind me destroyed' I spat. "By all you lot too, obviously not wanting to get his hands dirty," I finished, adding salt to the wound. Before I could even finish, growls filled the room, and mates were holding each other tightly, while the others glared murderously at their supposed leader.
