"What style of dress do you want?" Lu asked and biting the inside of my lip slightly, I looked up from the bridal magazine that I had been looking at.
"Something simple," I smiled slightly as I crossed my legs up on the bed, "not too big and poofy like some are doing today. I want it to be like our wedding should have been in Narnia."
"What was it like?" Jill asked curiously. "Oooh, what was your dress like?"
"Umm," I leaned back as I tried to think to all those years ago, "well my dress was a soft gold and the robe a bit darker, and it had pearls scattered all over it with white embroidery. You remember, Lu?"
"Still probably the most beautiful dress I've seen today," She smiled. "And do you remember, Susan about had a cow when they showed up as the first fitting and it wasn't at all the correct fabric. It was supposed to be…what…chiffon?"
"Yeah and they had made it in a charmeuse, I think. She was more stressed about the dress in the weeks leading up to it than I was," I laughed slightly. "I was more concerned with all the decorations going up around the Hall. Trying to make sure that everyone would be able to see and some poor beaver wouldn't end up behind some huge flower arrangement."
"Well you had Edmund there at least," Jill chuckled.
Instantly Lucy let out a scoff, "he was about as much help with that as he is with cooking. I asked him and Peter to try and make sure the cake was going to be right—"
"I completely forgot about that!" I laughed as the memory came springing back.
"Thank goodness I went down to the kitchens later to give them the menu for the dinner later that week," Lucy nodded along laughing as well.
"What happened?" Jill pushed.
"They told the chef first of all that only four layers would be good, and then they had made it completely chocolate, which any other time I probably would have been fine with but the colors were gold and white," I scoffed. "Most of the time they were out overseeing the cleanup outdoors or out riding with my family." Giving a small amused smile, I thought about them for the second time in two days and looked down to my lap, wringing my hands slightly.
"King Corin?" Jill asked and I nodded slightly before looking back up to her on the chair beside the bed.
"Well back then he was just Prince, Uncle Lune was still alive and then also Cor and soon to be Queen Aravis," I puffed out a small breath. "I wonder if they wonder where I am while they're in Aslan's country."
"I wonder if everyone wonders where all of us are," Lucy frowned slightly. "I mean, they probably all still think that we just disappeared and never came back."
"I'm sure Caspian is telling them all about you," Jill offered and gave us both a smile, "stop being so melodramatic, both of you. We're supposed to be looking for dresses so you can get one picked out before going back to school."
"I like this one," I smiled and flipped the magazine around to show the a-line dress with a sheer neckline, long sleeves and buttons up the entire back.
"What are you guys doing?" Edmund suddenly spoke from behind me and immediately we started covering up the magazines.
"Honey," I smiled as I flipped around onto my knees and heard both Lucy and Jill continue to shuffle them around.
"Well this isn't suspicious at all," He scoffed and stepped in, trying to peer around me but I moved to the side right as there was a big jolt and I glanced back to see Jill now sitting on the bed.
"You know, you're supposed to knock before entering a ladies bedroom," Lucy huffed. "Have you forgotten all of your Kingly ways?"
"He wasn't very good at that even when he was a King," I smirked, getting giggles from the others.
"Well I love being the brunt of your jokes," he smirked, "but I was wondering if I might be able to have some time with my fiancée since the two of you have taken her for the good part of the day."
"We're busy," Lucy huffed.
"You've got the rest of the week to continue talking about the wedding," He spoke, giving that crooked smile as he took my hand and gently pulled me off the bed.
"It's rude to eavesdrop as well," She commented.
"The queen of it would know," He fired back teasingly and giving a small laugh, I followed him out the door to the room just at the end of the hall.
"How long had you been listening?" I asked curiously and his smile dropped minutely.
"Since Corin."
I gave a small nod, but my smile didn't drop. There was no use mourning them anymore; remembering, yes, but not mourning. "Why'd you call me away then? You know that we have to have some things planned out before we go back to school."
"Yes," He sighed with a nod, "but I hardly get time alone there with our roommates and school work. This," He laid down, pulling me with him by our joined hands, "is my only time that I'll get to really relax with you."
Smiling more than ever, I sat down beside him and kicking off my slippers while being careful of my skirt, I laid down beside him. Shifting around, I put my head on his shoulder and reached over to take hold of the hand that wasn't on my waist. Setting it on his stomach I started tracing the lines on his palm, leading up to his bare wrist and I couldn't help but think about the first time that we were able to lie like this.
Running my finger over the lines in his hand I trailed up to his wrist and found my necklace still wrapped around it. "You're still wearing it?" I asked.
"I'm still afraid that if I take it off you'll disappear," He answered.
It was just before we were to head off to school and both of us had managed to sneak upstairs while the others messed around downstairs and both Mrs. and Mr. Pevensie were at work. It was truly the only time that we were able to just be together in silence, I was always so busy trying to learn stuff and getting reacquainted with everyone.
"You're not afraid I'll disappear anymore?" I whispered, smirking up to him.
"I'm not afraid you'll disappear, just that I'll lose you." He whispered back, running his hands through my hair.
"You're not going to lose me, Edmund." I tilted my head up slightly to see him. "You're stuck with me until the day that one of us dies years and years from now."
"Years and years from now?" he smiled.
Grinning, I tipped my head back down and nuzzled into his chest as I moved even closer, "yes. We'll both be old and grey with tons of little grandchildren running around."
"Tons? How many exactly?" he chuckled.
"At least 10 and then of course Peter, Susan, and Lucy's kids. It's going to be very crowded around the holidays," I giggled slightly.
"I guess so. So, to get these grandchild we're going to need children," He murmured.
"Yes, there's going to be little Thomas, who even though he's younger, looks out for his sister Freya, and the oldest, Cory looks out for both of them,"
"I see," he hummed.
"And apparently your Mum thinks we should get started on that right away, based on the conversation last night," I chuckled.
"I about fell out of my chair right then," He sighed. Giving a small smile, I couldn't hold back the yawn as the sound of him talking and his heart beat started to lull me to sleep. "So when are you girls going to go shopping?"
"A couple days after Christmas we have an appointment, a day before the reunion and both Eustace and Jill have to head back to school. Does it seem weird that we're doing this a second time?"
"A little, but it's easier now, isn't it?" he asked.
"It's smaller, so yes. But this time you're not going to disappear one me, are you?" I joked with a chuckle, glancing up to him.
"I wouldn't dream of it," he grinned and leaned in, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"Good, because now I can track you down," I smirked.
"Oh?" he laughed and gently poked me in the side, making me laugh. "Are you saying that no matter what I have to marry you now?"
"Yes, I am," I answered right as he gave another poke. "Stop!" I laughed.
"Stop what?" he went to full on tickling my sides and letting out a yelp, I tried to jump up but instantly he tightened his hold.
"Edmund!" I half shouted and half laughed.
"What is going on in-" Lucy's voice quickly dropped off.
"Lu! Help me!" I laughed and instantly she pounced as we started ganging up on Ed.
"Pile!" Peter's voice suddenly came from behind and I more felt the weight of him than saw him.
"Peter!" Lucy shouted out when even more weight added as Eustace and Jill piled on.
"See what you did," I groaned over to Ed as we all more or less laid on the tiny bed.
"You're the one that called for help," He muttered.
"Susan," Lucy suddenly called and tipping my head up, I saw her standing at the doorway. "Come join us."
Looking at her, I could almost see the debate and as she god a smile I thought that she might just for a minute pile on, but then it fell slightly. "Sorry, Lu. I've got to head into work. See you guys later."
"Bye," I called as she continued down the hall and letting out a small sigh, laid my head back down on Ed's shoulder. She would come around, I had no doubt she would at some point.
